They do this in all of the reality shows.... Dancing with the Stars does it all of the time. They start an elimination and then say, everyone is staying! Wow! lol. But I get what you are saying, as it is true there is also much manipulation in these shows as well. Either way I am glad it didn't end with just Sam/Jessica, and the two guys. It needed a third competitor, or at least a stronger one than Sam/Jessica, imo. I guess it depends on whether the judges were taking overall body of work and past performance into consideration. Because if that's the case, how did the Douche Bros get eliminated when they did? I think if Sam and Jessica made it to the final three, they made it because they deserved it. They proved themselves to be a strong team by virtue of outlasting others. It also depends on what the judges considered to be an "epic" model. Tyler and Amy's model was the complete package. Sam and Jessica's was a beautiful sculptural work of art. The kind of pieces of you see at Legoland but on a smaller scale. Mark and Boone's model really highlighted the fact that they just weren't particularly good at creating Lego sculptures. Their building was blocky and boring. Their original concept with the pull out adventure pods was criticized by the judges as boring. Their half-computer with all of the imaginative blocks was criticized back then as blocky and linear. They just didn't hear what the judges were saying. Their strengths were that they created playsets the could be found in stores, with fun minifigures and funny details. They relied too much on the minifigures throughout the competition. So if the judges were looking for a winner who could create a playset that kids would actually have fun playing with, then I agree they could have been the winner. It would have been great fun playing as the Pizza Guy's evil pizzamen army. Or with the Ewoks. Or with the characters in the Food Truck tower. Sam and Jessica's peacock and monkey... you obviously can't really play with it. It's just a sculpture. Both teams played to their strengths. Sam and Jessica proved they were great with sculptures. Mark and Boone proved they were great with architecture and fun use of minifigures. It would have been helpful if the judges had pointed out throughout the competition what they were looking for. The Douche Bros got repeatedly criticized for their lack of creativity and storytelling and thus they got eliminated. But I wonder if the judges had emphasized that they were looking for sculptural creations, that Mark and Boone would have been eliminated earlier. I thought the week in which they produced their half computer was clearly a sculptural week, and they only survived because other teams messed up worse. That's why I think Tyler and Amy's finished product was head and shoulders above the other two teams in the finale. It really could be described as "epic". There was absolutely nothing at all epic about Mark and Boone's blocky building. 3 Link to comment
