S10.E13: What We Become
Giuseppe replied to nodorothyparker's topic in The Walking Dead Franchise Shows
In the original version, Michonne rescues Andrea just outside of Atlanta after the old group was forced to flee the farm. So in the alternate timeline, Michonne turns her back on Andrea, but somehow still winds up in Virginia to meet Negan and the Saviors? I couldn't find that very believable...but then, I can't remember how they all wound up in Alexandria to begin with. Outside of the alternate timeline stuff, I had no idea what was real and what was being imagined in this episode. I was completely lost. I don't even remember what happened in the last episode Michonne was in before this one. Shows how much I must have been paying attention. -
I really hated Geoffrey's puffy yellow piece especially. It made the model look...like he was melting or something. It gave him absolutely no shape and actually made me skittish just looking at it. Sergio's homegrown leather experiment looked like he tried to dissolve a body in the bathtub, and apparently smelled like it, too. I'd have been half scared if I were Christian, lol.
-
Good lord, what does she have against periods? I hate when people type like that.
-
Before he stood up from the bed, I was trying to figure out why he was clutching brown paper bags to his chest, lol. I like David but I detest his wardrobe.
-
I was gonna bring up Lonnie, too, haha. But at this point, seems like a wasted effort to wonder about any original characters. Have we even seen any of the secondary characters from Roseanne in this second season of The Conners? In the first season, we saw Crystal for sure, but before that, we saw Ann Marie, Nancy, Chuck...it's like TPTB have decided that we don't need to see any of them again. I mean, Jackie was friends with Crystal and Nancy, too, so they should at least still be coming around...unless the actresses have decided not to appear anymore. I don't know WTF is happening with this show. Isn't Sara Gilbert producing this, or something? She and I need to have a chat, lol.
-
Completely agree with everyone re: Crystal. I mean, what the hell? When Dan read the obituary for his dad, I kept expecting someone to say something like "hey we should check on Crystal". Then I realized, well damn, Crystal should have been the one to tell him! During the whole first scene with Dan and little Ed, I kept screaming internally "where's your mom???" I guess we're now expected to believe that either A) Crystal never existed in this reboot and she either died or took off shortly after Angela was born and Ed took the kids and moved away, or B) Little Ed and Angela's mom is NOT Crystal and is just some random woman whom Ed got pregnant and possibly married but we never met. Ugh, so annoying. I'd have bought the scenario we were presented with tonight more if little Ed were yet another son that Ed had after he abandoned Crystal and the kids, and Dan knew about him but never made an effort to know because he was well and truly fed up with his dad at that point.

Yup, it was the same actor who played Jason from back in the day. I recognized him, but he also confirmed it in the cast wrap-up videos. That's why I was surprised they had him come back just for that tiny-ass part, but maybe there was other incentive. As for Kevin, he was a recast like Mimi.
-
Ha, if that was a waste, they had the actor who played Jason do fuck-all but walk in the door in the last episode and tackle Jan. Dude was on-screen for all of two minutes.

Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode
Giuseppe replied to CatLady's topic in Days Of Our Lives
I hadn't even bothered to check my DVR'd episodes before today because I assumed they were all pre-empted, but lo and behold, apparently here in the Atlanta area, they aired DAYS as usual and aired the impeachment hearings on sister networks. I've just got caught up, and holy hell. Victor, what have you done? TWO cover-ups in one night? First, though, how in the world did Maggie get SO drunk SO quickly? Adrienne and Sarah were long gone by the time Summer left the mansion. I know they got a flat tire, but that's 20 minutes at most. And how is it that Maggie was coming from the opposite direction that Sarah and Adrienne were going? I could maybe buy that Will was coming from the other direction and he did swerve into Adrienne's way, but he avoided her, meanwhile Maggie was speeding up BEHIND Adrienne, didn't stop in time, and ran into Adrienne's car, but that's not how it's being played, so I'm confused how Maggie could have gotten ahead. Second...how the hell are they pulling this baby switch off? Perhaps we'll find out tomorrow, but the doctor clearly knows that it was Sarah's baby who didn't make it, not Kristen's. But Haley was acting like the doctor was about to come in and tell Kristen it was her baby who died. Did Victor pay off the doctor? Did he have Xander kill her?? Ugh, still a lot of questions here. Also, I wish Kristen had been a little more hysterically aggressive throwing Haley down those stairs. As it was, it looked like she barely touched her. -
I didn't even understand the point of this scene unless the guy is gonna show up again at some point. At the end of the day, he told Debbie to keep the shoes and as far as I could see, she still didn't get her money back, so...what exactly was the point? Or did he give her the money back as well as telling her to keep them? ETA: Sorry, I forgot this aired a while back. I am just now catching up.

@Chicago Redshirt, you have helped me understand so much of what is happening now. Thank you. I don't (didn't) know anything about Watchmen before hearing about this series. I remember attempting to watch the 2009 movie, but being so bored that I fell asleep. When I started hearing about/seeing trailers for the HBO series, I didn't see how it related to the movie and maybe would have not bothered with it , but it did look cool, PLUS much of the scenes were filmed literally across the street from my condo. I saw a lot of the filming (well, the set-up for the filming) and now I know what that little blue capsule that was on the plaza in front of my favorite bar was supposed to be, haha. Anyway, I do still have a question. Was Rorshach racist? I originally somehow thought the 7th Kavalry was a group of racists, but now I can't remember what gave me that impression...maybe it's kind of the parallel imagery between them and the KKK? I'm only on episode 5, and being pretty utterly confused until now, I maybe misinterpreted their whole thing and they're more just cop killers/attackers? Also, who is Lady Trieu (sp)? Is she new to this series, or was she in the graphic novel at all? Seems too young to be part of the comic, so I'm assuming she's new, but people's reactions to her made me think her character was previously known. I'm going to have to go back and re-watch the first three eps again now that I understand better the jump-off for this show. Even being confused, I'm freakin loving it.

So, umm...will the contestants be kids again, or open to adults? Because, you know...asking for a friend. -

I think it is odd that life coaches are even a thing. -
I thought the store was closed and Gia was just there to help with the game. I like how the boys conveniently waited in the living room until the girls left the kitchen with their clue.

The Mr. Smathers episode and Carlene's apartment are side-splitting hysterical to me. I also love the two-part season opener where Alison first arrives and is pissing everyone off, and Julia finally calls her from within the office to privately go off on her and turn Alison's annoying "bird on your head" analogy around on her. I mean, season six definitely isn't the show's prime, but definitely had some great episodes.

Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode
Giuseppe replied to CatLady's topic in Days Of Our Lives
Is this a spoiler? Because i just watched today's show and I didn't hear anything about anyone being knifed, unless I missed something. Did Justin say it had been one year and one day since Adrienne died? I thought he just referencing the day they got married. I was assuming whatever happened with Will and Adrienne happened some time later. -
We don't have them where I live, either. I think it's just a fire marshal/jurisdictional thing. I first encountered this working on a project in Langhorne, PA a couple years ago and wondered why more cities didn't do this. Strangely enough, Hen's situation almost happened to me just last week. I was speeding up to get around a couple slower-moving cars and had the green light. Not distracted at all, but I didn't notice or hear the ambulance coming through the intersection the other way until I literally turned my head to see if other cars were coming. I slammed the brakes, but ended up in the middle of the intersection. Luckily, the ambulance HAD slowed down to make sure the way was clear since their light was red. If it hadn't done that, it might've plowed right into me. And I STILL don't understand how I didn't hear the sirens until I actually saw the ambulance. I didn't remember Evelyn looking distracted before Hen hit her and I wondered if she just didn't hear the sirens until it was too late, like my situation. I thought the other stories were fun, though it has been a long-standing fear of mine that I'd lose a digit in an ice-skating accident (which is why I don't ice skate!) Those blades are scary. Was there some sort of vessel on the robot that the dude peed into? If not, he just peed...on the robot? Wouldn't it have splattered everywhere? He wasn't concerned about smell? That just seemed like a really poor decision. Go find a corner somewhere, lol.

Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

Yeah, I mean...if Haley's dead, then everyone probably knows JJ is depressed and are used to seeing him look like crap. Could be she just recently died. I'm so intrigued by Will being Ben's cellmate. Have no clue what he could've done to land him in there. I wish we had gotten to catch up with more characters today. The thing I got most excited about was the new hospital set! University Hospital must've undergone some renovations in the past year and I think it looks pretty nice. A lot warmer, and that window does wonders for making the set feel more alive. I'm hoping there are some other sets that have been refreshed (please let the multipurpose office/hotel room begone!) I also took note of the ambient jail noises during Ben's scenes. That was a nice touch as well. Really looking forward to seeing how this all plays out! -
So did we ever find out what caused the plane to crash? I kept expecting to see a news report or something on in the background after it was established that it wasn't the drunk pilot. The plane couldn't have gotten too high in the air if it (apparently) crashed back down on the same runway. I had to laugh when they showed the one guy un-buckle his freakin seatbelt while the plane was crashing and he got tossed around. I mean...who would do that? Also, why wasn't Bell's seatmate wearing his seatbelt during take off? Guess the flight attendants missed him during their check.

Someone upthread mentioned that Dan in this episode seemed the most OG Dan than any other point in this reboot and I agree. Especially his interaction with Bev at the end. That seemed like vintage Roseanne...as did Jackie's argument with Bev in their apartment. More or that, please! I can't remember, but did we ever even see Becky at the Lunch Box during the original series?I know Sarah Chalke was around for most of those years, but even then I still can't remember ever seeing Becky at the restaurant. Oh wait...one moment does come to mind: when Mark was trying to hit on Traci Lord's character (god I hated her) to piss David off, and Becky came in and caught him. Were there any other times? I kinda tune out those seasons of the show.

I'm assuming that's a typo, because I'm 41 and was born in 1978...but if not, please tell me how you bend time like that! Lol. Whoops, sorry about that!

Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

Y'all, I'm kinda slow sometimes, but...did Gabi forget she was talking to a cop? Did Lani forget that she IS one? Didn't Gabi just basically confess to attempted murder? Someone said something similar earlier, but Lani should have just grabbed Gabi's phone, arrested or detained her and deleted the app. I'm sure there's some sort of procedural error with that, but jeez c'mon. I know cops have been blackmailed before, but this seems easily thwarted to me. -

I was confused, too, lol. Especially since it looked like there was a sign for the restaurant on one of the buildings on the Square. But...had the square even debuted before Jack tumbled down the elevator? I honestly can't remember. Maybe I'll just fanwank that they've dined at Saxon's Bistro in the past, but they just recently opened a new location on the square. And why did it look like there was an elevator at the restaurant entrance? Shades of the Penthouse Grille. I thought today's episode was weird. Weirdly written, weirdly edited. Jennifer and Kate's rather out-of-the-blue park bench chat...Jack and Jennifer acting like it was their second date ever (I get the whole being nervous because it's been so long thing, but this ain't the first time that's happened with them, either), stilted conversations with Will and Sonny and Gabi (also, wasn't Gabi on the phone when Will and Sonny came by? Then she just agrees to go with them and walks out without grabbing her phone or purse or anything? Or did I miss something?)....Everyone showing up at the restaurant without seeming to even notice Eli and Lani at first...the whole "stay, go, no!" dinner table scene with Justin, Adrienne, Jack and Jenn was super awkward....it was like they were all ad-libbing the whole scene. Like I said, just weird. So, are y'all sure Hope is turning into Gina again? Because...I just can't. I mean, yeah that's what I assume is happening, too, but I'm really hoping for a different kind of twist, even though as soon as she picked up the cigarettes I was 99% sure that Gina is back. Ugh. But I will agree that I'm enjoying watching how Kristian Alfonso is playing this out. It really has been kinda fun to watch. -
Continuity Errors: Starts With the House Layout and Just Gets Worse
Giuseppe replied to Bastet's topic in The Golden Girls
Unless they figure out some quantum physics method to fold space into itself, they ain't gonna be able to pull that off. I mean, the door to the 'garage' leads into the hallway with a couple bedrooms in-between. Plus you can apparently see the street and the backyard from the kitchen window. Not to mention all the other stuff y'all just mentioned. I don't think even the smartest Hogwarts student could pull off that kind of magic, lol. -
I didn't realize that was Megan Fay! I need to go back and watch again. But I don't think she was supposed to be Kathy Bowman. Kathy and her husband moved back to Chicago on the original show. And no WAY would Kathy have come back to Lanford, as much as she hated it there.
