  1. Emmy nominations are up: TAR is in once again for Best Competition Program. I also it's the same shows, with Nailed It added on. Also, American Ninja Warrior, which I like a lot but still insist is not a reality show. BVM also got a nomination for Outstanding Directing For A Reality Program with "Who Wants a Rolex?" ETA: Here's an article from Reality Blurred. Turns out TAR netted three nominations. And how funny would it be if it won? CBS tried to load up TAR31 with people from other series, and only the alumni teams finished first in all twelve legs.
  2. Why the hate? Jeff Probst will tell us that he heard the love of EoE "from the streets"! People on the streets NEVER lie to Jeff Probst! *sigh* I guess the official policy is that if Survivor makes a mistake . . . they gotta make it again and hope it does better. See also "Redemption Island" and "Blood vs. Water." If it is (and it probably won't), maybe CBS can give us The Amazing Race on a regular basis once more. But they'll probably load up on Big Brother and Love Island. Maybe Survivor closes up shop when contestants are revealed to be conceived during the first season. The name of the guy favored to win S45? "Rudy Rich [Whatever]." Do you have an online catalog where you live? My library system covers three NYC boroughs. Let me search . . . Shit . . . there isn't anything on there. I guess they got rid of those DVDs, Also, maybe libraries don't go out and get the bare bones stuff you get exclusively online. I'm sorry I can't provide more hope.

I imagine Travis in the clubhouse, all, “So THAT’S what it feels like from the other side! I love this feeling!!” ETA: If Zach Wheeler is on the Injured List, can the Mets still shop him around?
  4. I am confused. The latest edition of Sword Art Online ended this past Saturday . . . and I don't know what will be replacing it. As a matter of fact, I don't see what Toonami will be doing this Saturday night. Is anyone else having that problem?
  5. Okay. So Grisha and his sister was a part of an oppressed minority, and she wound up getting killed by a Nazi parallel. He joined a movement, but they were all rounded up . . . and not only were they turned into Titans, they became Titans from the first season (for instance, the bearded guy was the one that chomped Eren's arm off). His wife was transformed into the Titan . . . that killed his second wife? Probably the one that birthed Eren? Meanwhile, Zeke turned in his parents (dick move), but he winds up becoming . . . Beast Titan? I think I'd need charts. And lots of them. Also, would the Titans have wrecked civilization that quickly? If not, does that make Grisha immortal? Slowly aging?
  6. I think ANW is out-thinking itself. Person who wins on the Power Tower in a qualifying course gets advanced to the National Finals. Fastest two on a city finals course compete to get a chance to re-do a failed run in Vegas should they fail in either Stage One or Stage Two. The person who won the Speed Pass can run for a chance to compete for the Safety Pass, with the berth to Vegas still guaranteed. Of course, if someone wins the Speed Pass and gets injured running for the Safety Pass . . . doesn't that defeat the idea of a Speed Pass? Maybe the fastest two run the Power Tower, with the winner facing the Speed Pass winner with the Safety Pass on the line? Also: if someone wins a Safety Pass, winds up using it, and completes all four stages . . . would that warrant an asterisk? I mean, Isaac won the first $1 million prize, but Geoff Britten managed to hit all the buzzers that could be hit. I mean, winning is winning, but getting a second chance feels like tainting things. Anyway, fun night as always, with Flip Rodriguez getting the Safety Pass . . . and I think that might be his ticket to finally getting to Stage Three.
  7. From Reality Blurred: S40 will be getting a returning and reviled twist. This promises to be the clusterfuck to end all clusterfucks.
  8. I'll be copying the summary in two parts. Now here's the part I'm putting in spoiler space because it might make your bile rise.
  9. Is that something you buy, or was it a personal commission? I collect sketches; Archer-wise, I got Pam, Lana and Archer (battling Awesome-X). Oh, and could you show the sketch card to me us?
  10. That’s what I had thought, but from what I now understand, she would be the new Agent 007. Bond would still be Bond. I expect the butthurt backlash to be the same, though. What other films has Lynch starred in?
  11. Her voice is what I hear for the character now . . . unless we're talking the original semi-hedonist from Wolfman & Perez's New Teen Titans. When it was announced a black actress was playing her in Titans, and I saw the resulting backlash, I heard TTG Starfire in my head. "Do not listen to the haters, for they are the butthurt." Or maybe she'd say "Hurting of the buttocks." Anyone with a strong opinion on Bumblebee?
  12. Funny thing . . . I was poking around, and I discovered Two Heroes was free On Demand from Starz. I have Spectrum cable . . . dunno if this is in other cable networks. And I saw the movie on DVD. It wasn't bad . . . cute bit of fluff with some background info on All Might.
  13. . . . and another noble gets owned by Asta. What I’d like for to know is if Asta was as comical in expressing how screwed he was in the original dub. The only thing missing was the asshole screaming, “He found my petard! And he’s hoisting me with it!!! AND IT HURTS!!!!!” Cut to Magna and the buff lady knight, all, “Well, that was petarded.” Have we seen Yuno’s fairy companion/familiar do anything special? If she did, I’ve forgotten about it

That ain’t funny. On par with Cards fans chanting “COKE IS IT!!” at Keith Hernandez back in ‘85. That ain’t funny, either. For anyone not into reality TV, CBS was rumored to be pushing for that last year. Hey, I didn’t say what was happening. I just recommended tuning in. Not a jinx. 😜😜😜 🍀 ETA: True story . . . I needed to clear space on my DVR. This afternoon, I recorded an episode of ESPN's E:60, focusing on perfect games. I caught some of it last year, but not the whole thing. So I'm watching, and then I remembered the Rays and their effort today. This was my reaction (mentally):

Something major happening. Can’t say what or where. If you have MLB Network, turn to that now and wait.
  16. Finally caught up with this. "Oh, so it's CARL Burnett. I was wondering why Carol Burnett would be into prog rock." Is that the genre? I mean, it's not heavy metal, but the looks of that universe look inspired by Heavy Metal (the comic magazine). And dang, that song grows on you the more you hear it. Funko even made "Pop" figures on that arc, including a few Cee-Lo Bears. No massive Fallout Boy (Fall Out?) mecha, though.
  17. No Malory. No Ray, either. I've been good with this season. It's just this episode felt like a clunker. It's better than a lot of other stuff, but it was a letdown. And I think there are only three episodes left.

I think the point is to never look up to celebrities. The harder they fall, the stupider you'll feel afterward for rooting for them. The sad thing is that Doc isn't even the worst "my childhood is ruined!"* issue. I grew up listening to albums from Bill Cosby. Can you imagine the number of routines that take up space in my brain? That includes his original "Fat Albert" bit. And I can't share there in polite (re: offline) company! For any Yankees fans . . . .are you feeling bad about Doc's latest fall from grace? I mean, he did win a few rings in the Bronx, and he did get that no-hitter. But he's mainly remembered as a Met, for good and for ill. *My childhood wasn't retroactively ruined. It was pretty messed up. I'm not one of those dudes that hears about a "reboot" and starts screaming about it. Well, not usually.
  19. Last week: the newly-minted genin are assigned teams. We discover there are more female ninjas than Sarade, Chocho and Class Rep-kun, and two of them are grouped with the latter for an all-female team. Apparently, the "two boys/one girl" format was phased out, as also shown with Metal/Denki/Iwabee. Shikidai/Chocho/Injojin get lumped together because family tradition. And that leaves Sarada with Boruto, which she's not thrilled about. I mean, the kid is mostly improv, and he could be a liability, but he wasn't as bratty as his dad when he was that age. That's a quest to get to Lord Seven to file a complaint, a battle with Konahamaru's cousin wielding Asuma's blades (was her mom the one voiced by The Major?), and Sarada and Boruto make peace with being on the same team. And they get Mintuski, who is remarkably patient, as he has to provide a bridge for the final battle.
  20. If memory serves, the Yield was set up in every leg before the last two. And it had never been used before Leg 11 (or shown to be used). The lack of Roadblock regulation only hurt the Bowling Moms, since the final three teams’ women only did one Roadblock apiece. I’m guessing that the producers were thinking about limits, and watching Colin literally pull himself and Christie into the final leg sealed the deal. I’ll give those two credit for running a hard race, and Christie wasn’t totally useless . . . but seeing Karen(?) struggle and watch a virtual demigod pass her was hard to watch.
  21. Good news: I made a date. Bad news: it's in three weeks. As much as I want to be and stay positive, I'm wondering about all the "other shoes" that could drop between now and then. It's the way I am. In the story of Peter Pan, I'd be the one staying behind, yelling to the others to say "hi" to Captain Hook for me.
  22. Thread for Food Wars! has been established. I hope nobody minds my using the Japanese title first.
  23. This is the latest anime to air on Toonami. From what I gather, kid seeks out his dreams of being the ultimate chef, attending a school where at least 90 percent of the student body will look down upon him because his background is pretty humble. That's the vibe I got from the teaser, and it looks interesting, even though we've been walking that path with Black Clover. Only this time, we have two things that are pretty unique: food and people orgasming from eating said food. I tend to make up dialogue because I think it's funny. This time, it's at the end of the first episode with Sora and his father Joichiro. Sora: (anger vein popping) What do you mean you're closing the restaurant?!? Joichiro: I got an offer I can't refuse, and you need to go on your hero's journey. Sora: Do you know what happened while you were gone? Joichiro: I supposed you'll tell me. Sora: Right. You know that bitch that wants to buy our place and tear it down? Well, she came by last night wanting a meal. The problem was her henchmen basically destroyed most of the stuff in the kitchen. Joichiro: And you had run your mouth about how we'd close up if we couldn't satisfy any customer. Sora: Right. It's a pride thing, even though I didn't put it in writing, let alone bring in a notary. Anyway, I MacGyvered up a dish that was basically potatoes mashed into the shape of a roast, wrapped in bacon. Joichiro: Interesting. Sounds a lot better than that whole "peanut butter squid" fiasco. What kind of impression are we trying to give the audience if we have a hentai-like scene right off the bat? So then what happened? Sora: She came. Hard. So hard. So did her henchmen. And I persuaded her to leave us alone Joichiro: Are we talking fantasy foodgasm, or was it the real thing? Sora: We had image spots of the lady's clothes bursting off her body from sheer ecstasy . . . but I think I ruined the guys' pants. Joichiro: Wait, so the crap smeared on our sign-? Sora: NO! But the lady walked right up to me, whispered in my ear to call her any time, licked my ear, and then shoved a business card down my pants. I basically have a grown-ass woman as my slave, as long as I cook for her first. Joichiro: Damn. Sora: So after all of that . . . ALL. OF. THAT. . . you're telling me we're shutting down for a few years? After what I did to protect the damn place? Why the hell should I let you walk off? Joichiro: So that you can go off and have adventures in a culinary school where you'd be an underdog. Sora: (facepalm) Shit. You're right. Joichiro: On the bright side, I'm not an anime dad that abandoned his kid! Okay, now we gotta see an imagine spot where our female lead gets conked in the head by a jukebox as she meditates underneath a waterfall. ETA: I figured that putting in the Japanese title first was better, but I guess that could be a pain if you're doing searches.
  24. I need to be motivated about posting motivational posters, motivational or not.
  25. Well, the good guys get a win. Yeah, Jocko sacrificed himself while Snowflake got to live, she’s now in a toxic relationship with Deke, and May just shot Sarge point blank in the head. Oh, and there’s still more episodes left. But a win is a win. Mac got Yo-Yo and he snarked “Toldja” at Sarge. That’s a win. And we got a lot of reunions, as FitzSimmons returns to the fold. Lots of celebratory hugging. Aside from Deke “reuniting” with his “Bobo,” it was fun to watch. Poor Leo . . . he doesn’t know he has a grandson, and he’s a total wanker. Did I hear someone bring up five years or something? Are we still in the MCU? I kept waiting for him to Shrike out.
