  1. Just found out new episodes will air starting on October 4 at 11:30 p.m.
  2. My only criticism is that John didn’t focus on the main stories for the entire episode. But since we won’t have a new episode for four weeks, ending on Danbury was appropriate. Was there footage of any of Trump’s speeches in the episode? That’s how terrible the RNC was, where the supporting characters came off as bad as him. I’m thinking that if the pandemic wasn’t happening. ol’ Jared still wouldn’t be dubbed over by Gilbert Gottfried, because Jared can’t be considered a joke anymore. If John sees him as worthy of the same amount and darkness of shade as Tucker Carlson, I can’t argue with that. This week was horrific. John could have done a solid hour, but then it would’ve ended on us coming out of an “And Now” segment and seeing his legs drifting from the top of the screen. And the greatest reminder of his life wouldn’t be a sewage treatment plant, but a Chlamydia ward for koalas. And that would have been sad. Seriously, though, I know John won’t be doing spa stuff 28 days straight, but he deserves the break. And maybe another Emmy or two.
  3. @mtlchick . . . I hope the rest of your treatment goes smoothly. And I get where you're coming from emotionally. I feel like the folks behind MCU should have a long conversation with each other before they even think of what to do next. But I have a mental image of all of the heroes gathered for a new crisis. I imagine Peter Quill trying to give a speech, only to be shouted down by M'Baku and his crew. This would have nothing to do with race . . . but rather how the heroes fucking HAD Thanos, and Quill blew it. Everyone would be barking. Including the Guardians. Even Rocket and Groot. But yeah . . . long deliberation. Was there a sequel on the schedule, even if it was tentatively dated?
  4. I got curious, fast-forwarded to next weekend. There’s a NHL game scheduled from 7-10, followed by SNL. I’m sure Chadwick’s episode would air. I’m thinking the network can switch episodes with enough lead time . . . but then J-Lo got swapped out for Woody, so what do I know? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
  5. Here's the thread for Assassination Classroom talk.
  6. Checking the list on SBP. There's a big omission, but I notice there are only a few people from outside the US listed: Jenny, Olivia“Liv” Jawando, Nam Vo (something called Ultimate Beastmaster, suggesting that BMP interns wouldn't be sacrificed to summon Turbo back), and Tula. Maybe it's because of different quarantine rules? On the other hand, I'm down with no more Bear. Now the big news: "Johnny Bananas- Real World Key West (may have never been in quarantine)" DUDE. I mean, this could be a huge troll. He might not actually be coming . . . but knowing BMP, they could just grab him, spray him with disinfectant for three straight days, then set him loose. Maybe BMP is finally moving beyond him and Cara Maria? PS: Didn't know Ultimate Beastmaster was an American show on Netflix. I think it sounds badass, but maybe BMP mighting be recruit from there instead of ANW.
  7. As we wait for the next season of My Hero Academia, Toonami is bringing us another offbeat school-based anime: Assassination Classroom. Instead of kids with "Quirks," we have a large yellow creature with lots and lots of tentacles. I know, "tentacles" and anime leads the mind to bad places. Here's a quick summary from Wikipedia . . . . . . here's the trailer from Toonami (which does not embed here, for some reason) . . . . . . and here's an interview I did with mangaka Yusei Matsui back in 2016. I also got three sketches from artists based on the series. I'll share those down the line. I never watched the anime, but I did complete the manga. It looks weird, but it's a great coming-of-age story about misfits trying to show what they can do. Also: a yellow monster with tentacles.
  8. It’s still listed Jennifer Lopez/DaBaby on my cable. I was thinking the same thing as @vb68, though.
  9. Just saw the TDS Trump RNC video. Once again, they knocked it out of the park. Jeffery Wright brings gravitas and humor . . . not quite as funny as Rosie O'Donnell pausing her narration in 2016 to curse the then-candidate out, but you had some funny and horrific images. And for you old-school anime nerds out there, Gigantor was turned into a giant terrorist robot. I had to look it up . . . the nose is a giveaway. I do not envy Trevor. While he didn't have to deal with live shows and his troops scrambling for humor, this week has been fucking brutal for him. He has to do this FIVE nights this week. Meanwhile, John Oliver will probably spotlight the convention on his show on Sunday night from start to finish, AND he'll get to openly curse.

Where did you get that? I mean, it doesn’t seem realistic at all, but it would happen with deGrom.
  11. You guys know how I feel about CBS and their apparent disdain towards TAR. Still, though, 🤞🤞. On a less optidmtic note, Natalie Anderson is rumored to be in quarantine for the upcoming season of The Challenge. I’m hoping this doesn’t happen because she peaked in the last season of Survivor, and I see The Challenge as a bottomless abyss where no one looks good.
  12. MILB celebrates National Dog Day, spotlights canines of the Minors. Also: a few facts on some noteworthy doggos.
  13. I find that the longer I watch this series, diverse it gets. #rimshot Does anyone care? Bad Blood only had two people, and they were knocked out after two episodes of IOTC. And isn’t Kailah the only repeat veteran from GBOGH?
  14. I DVRed and watched Merlin's Shop Of Mystical Wonders. It's like the makers wanted to go with whimsy and mystery, but they wound up with "hilariously disturbing" instead. A movie clearly made in the Eighties, but released in the mid-Nineties. Featuring Ernest Borgnine trying his best in the "Grandpa from The Princess Bride" role, but it's only enough to put him the MST3K Hall of Great Actors In Horrible Movies. Pets are harmed. A pompous critic gets comeuppance for succumbing to the black tar heroin that is magic. A man has to deal with a cymbals-playing monkey, and that's hilariously bad as well. I'm still monitoring my cable and IFC.com. A few reboot episodes will be put out. Ator still isn't On Demand, but it's scheduled for September 9 at 7 a.m. The only one from the original run on the horizon: Final Justice, next Tuesday at 7 a.m. Because if you're going off the air, smacking Joe Don Baker is more satisfying.
  15. Shit. Really? I mean, Natalie is a far better representative from The Amazing Race than anyone else ever considered from that franchise, but that’s a void I wouldn’t want the Queen of Extinction to jump into. ETA: Nicole? I get the hate, I get that she’d be thirsty floating in a lake, but I never got the rage. Of course, she comes from the borough where I reside, so maybe I give her the benefit of the doubt too often. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
  16. While I don’t love Natalie, I never understood the sheer depth of the hate from others, at least before I heard about the tweets. What, did the regulars write a letter? “We don’t like her. We’d rather have Turbo loaded up with his weight in PCP than deal with Ninja.“ Mark’s “OG” plan is coming off more attractive, given the veterans that have expressed interest. In case you didn’t see the link I put on the Media thread, here is the IG page he set up.
  17. There were other names when I searched through Vevmo, but that was from about a month ago. Lots of people not getting called. That includes Natalie; the reason listed for her was “racist tweet within past ten years.” Damn. I am okay with “cancel culture” in some ways, but that feels like reaching for me. Also, that means BMP might try to recruit another “Ninja,” and it might be someone from ANW that we don’t want to see turn into an asshole. Unless it’s Matt and/or Akbar brought in for commentary, I’m against headhunting ANW.
  18. I just started a Casting Speculation thread. While I'm thinking about it . . . does anyone know if Mark Long's "O.G." edition will be produced by BMP? That seems more and more interesting over time, especially with some of the names reportedly interested. ETA: Here is the "We Want OGs" Instagram. Lots of interested parties . . . including one I'd never expect to see on TV again. And I agree with @Eolivet about a new season in the time of COVID. There might be a chance we'd get another Bunker situation . . . and the kids wouldn't be allowed out of there except for missions.
  19. Yep, it's that time again. Even as COVID-19 rages throughout the world, a new season of The Challenge is on the horizon. I'm sure BMP will be taking all the precautions in protecting their precious cash cows, but it feels like a disaster waiting to happen. As always: THIS IS A THREAD FOR CASTING SPOILERS ONLY. NO RESULTS SPOILERS, PLEASE. Here is early speculation from StopBeingPolite.com, which channels stuff from Vevmo. Apparently, people are currently in quarantine awaiting casting. Most of these guys are the usual gang of idiots (apologies to Mad Magazine). The only new names I see are Morgan Lolar (Temptation Island; I'm guessing from the latest revival) and Lolo Jones (she would qualify as a rookie despite her CvP experience). I'm not expecting anything exciting at this point. If the season does take place, I'm willing to bet they might not be allowed to hit the bars. Once again: these guys are cash cows to BMP. Johnny is probably still considered their golden calf . . . which, in its own way, is pretty sad.
  20. Rewatching the last episode. This is Mista's inner monologue as he tries to get the drop on Secco: "I should be able to see him the second he tries to get me. Then it's murder time, baby!" People who prefer subs over dubs might have a point with that bit. Just the way Mista says the line, it's like he's got a warehouse full of "IT'S MURDER TIME, BABY!" t-shirts waiting to get sold.
  21. Team Four Star (the guys behind Dragon Ball Abridged) briefly summarizes Demon Slayer.
