Just checking . . . the team with the lowest winning percentage that made the World Series is still the 1973 Mets, right? And in case you're in a judging mood, they did take the Oakland A's to seven games. There's going to be an asterisk no matter what. Instead of a team known for cheating potentially winning the World Series, we now have a team with about fifteen fans rooting for them. Maybe twenty.

That theory doesn't make sense with the given backstory . . . .but it would be so hilarious. Think about it: if Robert is Archer's dad, that would mean -- obviously -- that he had sex with Malory. And he probably did that with Lana. How would Archer react? Fainting? Puking? Dry-heaving? Also, that would mean that Lana is Sterling's stepmother. That would be so wrong, et so funny.

Back in those days, they had an asshole who speculated that Mets fans rooted for the Yankees when their team was eliminated (Larry Jones), and a redneck that slagged the fans themselves (John Rocker). Also, it's sort of galling to see that you can redeem several runner-up trophies for induction into the Hall of Fame (Bobby Cox).

I haven’t been keeping up. Are the Braves that detestable?
-
Normally, I don’t share teasers, but this looks to be so awesome. Lana Kane: Angry Mama Bear. Can’t wait! Edited to replace broken video. Also, there's a few seconds of Archer trying to calm down once he hears the shocking news. Works great with Lana going full-on Rampage Mode.

I think that was more about both Archers being horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE people. Or at least they're horrible to Cyril in particular.
-
I forgot to mention: poor form for Phil for not bringing up Claire's name in that one spot. Or maybe he did, and the producers thought it didn't matter. She took a damn watermelon to the face, so I'd say it matters.

Poor Lana. Yes, I know that she's every bit as flawed as her colleagues. I realize she's the Michael Bluth of the series, in the sense that I used to think that she was the most "together" person there, but then I realized she might be the most neurotic. But having to deal with Archer and Malory AND seeing her husband hit it off tremendously with two other women, one of whom was Malory? I feel for her. It's a fucked-up situation when Archer is being an ass, and then you realize that he's basically the warning sign near the lake with the thin ice. Robert might not have been the best match for Lana. Putting aside the age gap, you'd think that he would've told Lana about the ex-wives. Cyril still exists as a butt monkey. The guy stiffs a bathroom attendant, but then takes out a bodyguard ahead of his mission parameters . . . and it still goes wrong for him. Luckily, he has Pam's shoulder to cry on. And probably her hands to attend to his twice-stricken testicles. Another plus for Cyril: the inappropriate insanity of Cheryl. She probably;y could have bailed him out with money, but accusing one of the waitstaff of groping her is so "her." Even if her going to her purse would've led to humiliating choke-sex for Cyril, she made the right choice.

It's good to have TAR back, even if it means a few Racers probably want to seek out Harry Belafonte and punch him in the face. Does the "SD" in PTSD stand for "Steel Drums"? Now it might! Gotta love Phil's cold intro. I'm thinking that might be played before every episode. The man is all class. In his place, I would've added that the episodes had been in the proverbial can for at least 18 months, and that CBS didn't rush to air it due to the lack of fighting and fucking. I don't have any clear favoites or villains in the first leg (apologies to @mtlchick; I missed Michelle's moment of ugliness, but I did DVR the episode). Eswar & Aparna have my heart for telling us they grew up watching the show. Makes me feel old, but at least I know they're diehard fans. Felt bad for the "Noodlers," and I got flashbacks to another "good ole boy" team getting eliminated first (Ryan & Chuck, TAR7). Good tropes: the rhythm-based Roadblock, the bad choice for Roadblock (Gary fucking up the steel drums, while Gary DeAngelo cringes on the sidelines), not getting the intricacies of a task ("fish" having colored fins), and farm animals. Yeah, the goats were at the very end, but it gave trailing teams hope in case of a mishap. And you got Phil going "Let go, let go, let go" in a calme yet firm manner. ETA for @raeb23 . . . I meant “steel drums.” Don’t you just hate when you unconsciously mix up homonyms?

Wait, so the teams might wind up playing each other for seven straight days? That’s weird, and yet it seems like something that could catch on.

The Promised Neverland - General Discussion

Bumping up . . . Toonami will run the entire anime on Halloween Night. -
Toonami has announced they will be airing every episode of The Promised Neverland on Halloween Night.
-
I checked Wikipedia . . . those episodes started airing in July over in Japan, so you’re probably right. The first season of Fire Force getting run again will probably lead to the new season.

Dang, Corkscrew is a sadistic obstacle. Maybe there should be two obstacle creation contests: one for fans, one for Ninjas. Also: maybe it should be renamed "Twist and Shout," what will the yelling of the Ninjas as they rotated quickly. Once again, I'm good with the wackiness, manufactured or not. I will admit that doing a 360 while climbing Warped Wall was pushing it. I keep waiting for someone to make it up, do a flex or something like that, then fall off dramatically. I don't want that to happen. It's just something I dread. He wasn't expecting a Cave Raccoon. Cut him some slack. 😛 That's weird. You know Akbar loves the Giant. He loves shouting "FEE FIE FOE STEP!!!!!" What time? CBS is running The Amazing Race on Wednesdays at 9 starting this week. And how many ANW episodes are there this season?

Darkness? Darkseid. Hardly well-known to a general audience? Kite-Man. I was just thinking that maybe having an incursion from villains whose origins are from the aborted worlds of the underside of the multiverse would be seen as just another day in Gotham. I collect sketches as a hobby. This past week, I got this as part of a charity thing from the Cartoon Art Museum. I'd say the artist has watched the series.

Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to AnimeMania's topic in Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal
Hell of an episode. Lots of horror mixed with action and comedy. Someone suggested this episode was aired out of order on April 1 because it dealt with a plague. I can believe it. -
Sounds likely. I'm out of the loop for the most part. Are the Rays marketable at all? I'm thinking MLB's best case involves the Dodgers winning the title. They've been knocking at the door, and Mookie Betts seems like someone MLB can sell to new fans.
-
Gemusetto: Death Beat(s) begins on November 7. The first edition (Gemusetto Machu Picchu) really grew on me.
-
Okay, then. METS FANS have common sense.
-
Seriously, do the Rays have fans? They've been playing in the same park since 1998, and they haven't gone over 2 million fans since that first season. On the other side, the Astros finished under .500. Is that a pet peeve for anyone else? I feel that any team that doesn't have a winning record -- in ANY sport -- shouldn't get into the postseason. Of course, there's always revenue in games that are played, even if they are brief and lopsided. Weird . . . Cardinals are eliminated the day Lou Brock passes, Yankees follow suit on the day Whitey Ford expired. Could this be a "thing" this year? [ETA: Bob Gibson. It was Bob Gibson. I apologize for that mistake.] What do they have to party about? Their Padres got knocked off. Or were they fans of the competing teams? I'd say that were rooting for the Yankees, but real New Yorkers have common else about that shit.

Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to AnimeMania's topic in Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal
Anyone catch the latest episode? Basically, it was all about Spear trying to travel with Fang after she falls ill. Lots of cool and funny moments, including Spear's "I have a clever plan" smug smile. Also, he uses spiky insects as the prehistoric equivalent of brass knuckles, and he goes to town on an endless clan* of hyenas. *Apparently, that's what a group of hyenas is called. Who knew? -
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will be rerun from the beginning, starting tomorrow night at 3 a.m. I think Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind has three episodes left. Now is as good a time as any to speculate what could replace it. Any initial thoughts?

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Lantern7's topic in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Since New York Comic Con isn't happening this year, they've gone to virtual stuff. Here, we have a DSKNY "panel," featuring news about the upcoming movies. They're hoping it'll get released in American theaters in 2021. Also, the anime will be rerun from the beginning, starting tomorrow night at 3 a.m. on Toonami. -
TDS 3.0 Season Five Talk
Lantern7 replied to scarynikki12's topic in The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015-2022)
Give credit to Trevor for showing the origins of Columbus Day, rather than just showing a-holes in tracksuits bitch and call it a day. Seriously, was there a “YOU MUST BE THIS MUCH OF AN EMBARRASSMENT TO ATTEND THIS EVENT” sign? There could be a holiday to honor those immigrants that came over from Europe . . . but I’m not sure if that would fly these days.
