Gone too soon. (Not up on YouTube yet; stumped on why it isn't embedding)

This episode: Archer Archers everything up, and things wound up working out in spite of that. I get how seeing the characters go back to their default "Coma O'clock" settings would get monotonous. Then again, it might have been painful to watch Better Cheryl try to be her best every week. And thanks to Conway Stern and what I'm guessing is his bionic hand, she relapsed. She has so many triggers. Of course getting choked would be her downfall. Anyone else get the impression Pam and Conway had a thing in the last three years? Fun to watch them tussle. Hilarious to see Conway lose a foot. Well, he can't blame that on Lana. And we may never know if "Conway Stern" is his real name. When will he team with Barry? The gang goes to a no-bullshit kumite, and Lana doesn't fight? Awwwww. I know that "Killer Kung Fu Wolf Bitch" from The Boondocks was an eternity ago, but a shout-out would've been nice. Maybe karate noises every time "kumite" was uttered. Archer did say that Lana had resting bitch face. . . . meh, probably a coincidence.

Fun return to reform. Lana marrying a bald billionaire schlub was a nice twist. I'm hoping that there has been some developments from the supporting cast that could survive Archer . . . . well, being Archer around him. Seeing his "babymama" hooked up to a sensitive schmuck, I'm willing to bet the void is looking awfully good to Archer. At least Pam is still Pam. I know that Cyril is probably going to regress back to being the beta male, and that Cheryl is going to snap sooner or later (#spoiler), but seeing Pam being there for Archer was sweet. And maybe they'll get back to banging.

I’m thinking it’s a mix of COVID complicating production and how this presidential election is even more chaotic than the last one. I feel 2016 almost broke Matt & Trey. While a case could have been made that they could ease off current events, writing stories that wouldn’t have to be produced in a small window, I think the occasional special is reasonable. Once again, if they had decided to end the series with no grand finale, I wouldn’t have blamed them too much.
-
Was Seattle considered? That would’ve been the only way it would host a World Series.
-
I didn’t think of that happening. I can live with sporadically-scheduled specials given the current circumstances. And, of course, Randy is still operating Tegridy Farms, and he’s offering a “Pandemic Special.” Good luck. I can make fun to a degree where Cartman would be proud, but I tend to watch stuff that’s no good for me. It’s hard to give it up under normal circumstances. I watched all ten seasons of Smallville when I knew it only deserved five, as if I was getting a trophy if I stuck around to the end.

Looks like the show is establishing continuity. Tigtone unleashing all hell in the season finale more or less destroyed Propecia. Prince Lavendar (I got nowhere doing searches for "purple" and "violet") finds out his real father was the wizard that got killed last season, becomes half-wizard, kills King, then teams with a ruthless entity Tigtone released into the world. Queen goes mad, and having King's head attached to her body doesn't seem to help. After Tigtone sates his quest kink, he and Helpy go on a quest for soup. Yes, it is epic. The other story involves a city of riches where everyone is forced to scream, lest they get killed by an invisible monster. Tigtone's workaround: have a blind hermit rip off his (Tigtone) ears and attach them to his eye sockets. I've been seeing a lot of hate stemming from Adult Swim canceling The Venture Bros*, and Tigtone is cited under "How is THIS still on the air?!?" The weird thing is that I find it charming with the bizarre animation, over-the-top antics, and all of the violence. *There are also people hung up about Metalocalypse not getting a fifth season. They might have a point, but why continue to forever die on that hill?

Found out the show hasn't been renewed yet. I'm slowly going through S2. I heard that if there would be a S3, the producers wouldn't import Punchline (Joker's new partner-in-crime) from the comics. My idea? The Batman Who Laughs. Just the idea of a Jokerized Batman menacing Gotham amuses me, especially the reaction from Harley and her friends.

Another fun-filled night. Sadly, I'm thinking more people were watching Dancing With The Stars. Basically, we're left to wonder if Jake Murray has the skills to break away from merely being an above-average goofball. Everyone else: "If there was an audience at DWTS, how many people would be jeering Carole Baskin and accusing her of killing her husband?" Big news is that one of the plus-two ladies completed the course. Ashley McConville cleared the Warped Wall, so you know there was at least one instance where pants had to be changed in the announcers' booth. And given the pandemic, the show might have had to shut down for the night and and pick up 24 hours later just to be safe. Sadly, I think the balance was restored when a returning JJ Woods fell on the third obstacle. Did either of Daniel Gil's friends make the cut? It's a weird situation . . . if a ninja wins on Power Tower, his/her friends join him/her in the semis, no questions asked. You have to wonder what Daniel's pals were thinking as he tried -- and failed -- to scale Mega Wall. Roo Yori's dogs watched him online. I cannot not root for the guy.

Cut to John: “Joke’s on you! I don’t think I’ll be alive by 2023!” Seriously, good that we’ll have at least one on Jon Stewart’s disciples speaking truth to power for that long.

I see a new name on the SBP list. Anyone familiar with UK shows know about Gabby Allen? Apparently, she's done Love Island (UK) and Celebrity Big Brother.

Reminder that new episodes air on Sunday night. Also, “Tigtone And Tigtone’s Island” (which aired on April Fools Day) is available on the Adult Swim site.

I've been following this guy named Ace Van on YouTube. He does a lot of fun stuff. Best example: redubbing episodes of Young Justice and centering the plot on the Pandemic. He just started collecting them on one playlist. Funny. As. All. Hell. Warning: a certain six-letter word (sometimes five) gets thrown around a lot. I just don't want anyone too shocked by that. You can wait for him to add onto the list, or you can seek out more episodes . . . like this one where Wonder Girl (voiced by Leslie Jones) and El Dorado "cancel" Superboy. Fun shit.

Nicely put. Here's an essay I wrote about her in May. Even if she does come in and excel, I fear that she'll descend into the usual bullshit the regulars provide. After Skeletons, I figured Nicole was too normal to do The Challenge. She's appeared twice and made the finale each time, but she's been shown as way too thirsty, and she's been a target of derision. I mean, I get it, but reading people cheer her injury in Vendettas . . . bleh. Of course, I probably cut her too much slack. Jenny isn't going to show up, Now I gotta hit Wikipedia and find out the last time a winner or winning team didn't return to defend their titles. ETA: Much sooner than I thought; Jordan didn't do Vendettas after winning XXX: Dirty 30, and Camila had found a way to get banned on two fronts.

Fat lot of good that does me. I can’t take two days off because there’s no physical con! 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Aside from the usual holiday episode, any movement on S13? Or if Jodie has to decide whether to stay on?

Mystery Science Theater 3000 - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Mystery Science Theater 3000
I forgot to mention that I got to see Ator: The Fighting Eagle, thus completing "The Gauntlet." Decent season, though this didn't make for a memorable last episode. Probably because the gang thought they'd have at least one more season. Kinga and Max getting trapped watching the horror that was Mr. B. Natural was cute, though. Curious . . . what do you guys consider to be the best finale? There's Mitchell (Joel escapes), Samson Vs. The Vampire Women (TV's Frank ascends to Second Banana Heaven), Laserblast (last Comedy Central episode), Diabolik (last "classic" episode), and Ator: The Fighting Eagle. I get that "Idiot Control Now" was a riff from Pod People, but what were those dorks (including the schmuck in the "I'M A VIRGIN" t-shirt) really singing? I couldn't make it out. I am aware that it stunk, though. -
Battle of the Seasons from 2012. With Johnny not showing up, maybe Leroy can finally win one. 🤷♂️

In case you didn't hear, Adult Swim more or less canceled The Venture Bros. This comes a few years removed from their last airing episode. Here's my question: has anyone heard from Matt and/or Trey about Season 24? Given how 2016 shook out, I honestly wouldn't blame the guys if they decide not to focus directly on current events this year. Or if they decide to wait until early 2021 to produce episodes. Or if they go "fuck it" and kill the show altogether.

A final season on another network or service would be nice. On the other hand, Rusty and Malcolm finding out they're half-brothers and Hank disappearing make be the best way to end the series. Eh, probably not. I can still see Sirena going mental and trying to create a new human being by merging Hank and Dean. ETA: Back in the days of Television Without Pity, they had Pixel Challenges, which had us making stuff with themes. A few themes, we dealt with creating anagrams from show titles. I'm still oddly proud of making this one:

Great to have a new season under the circumstances, even if the format has been changed. And it's fun to see some of the elite ninjas bring along their friends. Sadly, I'm thinking the two people that Drew Dreschel brought with him have also been wished away into the proverbial cornfield. If you haven't heard what's been up with Drew, do an online search and then cringe.

Adult Swim pulls the plug on TVB. Unless another outlet snaps it up, it looks like there will be no resolution to stuff from the end of S7. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Finally got to finish "Outsiders." It's nice that we get a plus-sized animated universe, but it's more or less overshadowed by other properties. And I didn't think there could be a fourth season until I stumbled into the link @AnimeMania provided. The good news: since I have HBO at home, I currently get HBO Max, and that's where "Phantoms" would probably land. If it gets made, of course. Am I a dumbass for thinking Baron Bedlam isn't dead? Or that he can't be conventionally killed, and Brion was putting on a show for his people? Yeah, that is naive, especially since it didn't look like he looped in Tara, Gregor and/or Violet. And I don't think any of them are good enough actors to express outrage at a faked murder. All Tara did in this incarnation was feed information to Deathstroke. I'm not sure if a fourth season warrants so many episodes. It gets hard to remember stuff, and I forgot a lot about the first two seasons. As much as I'd want a spotlight episode on, say, Arrowette (one of the first members of Young Justice in the comic book), I know she hasn't gotten enough "camera time" to warrant it. The possibilities are numerous. After S2, I figured Wally would "land" in Bart's original time, the two speedsters essentially switching places. But it looked like Wally was really, truly, undeniably dead. Cue Zatanna: "Yeah, me and Megan put a whammy on Artemis. I don't have the juice to raise the dead, and she really needed closure." Even though Artemis and Whashisname (I can't keep up with the Roys) decided not to progress, Wally coming back would rock her world. Anyone else think Beast Boy's Doom Patrol arc on Teen Titans Go! was inspired by Doom Patrol Go!? Is "crash" a good thing or a bad thing on this show? If it is, then I'd use the word "cringe." Putting aside how Lex could be Secretary General of the United Nations (maybe they have more pull in that world?), I would think he'd be a lot smarter. Or at least that the writers wouldn't make him say "fake news" and "both sides." Damn near every incarnation of Lex has been a Magnificent Bastard. Having him crib lines from real life is just . . . no. I liked how Violet and Forager were translated into this show. Aside from a brief appearance in Batman: The Brave and the Bold, I don't think we've gotten a Halo. Her story and origins mirrored the comics canon to a degree, but it was unique on its own. Forager's inability to use pronouns did grate, but the guy was adorable. I went to a small comic/geek show yesterday, and I printed out references of those two characters. I met an artist (this is his IG page), and here's what I got in my sketchbook: Anyone else hoping Desaad got to torture Godfrey? I blame Tim Curry . . . with his voice, this mouthpiece of Apokolips brings too much smarm to the party. And watching hm and Lex go at it, I kept awaiting for an inevitable sex scene. ETA: Watching Jefferson lose his shit at having Batman work him AND getting seduced by Dr. Jace was painful. It's like seeing Black Lightning getting shit dropped on him on the CW, only different. And animated. Does that make sense?
