I already lost CNN and CNBC and I do like to have those when major news events happen. I'll be losing my local channels too, so today I just signed up for them to replace the receiver. In my case, its because I don't have an HD receiver. -

Just had to come back and share I got a letter in the mail today from DirecTV telling me that my receiver is out of date and will soon lose a bunch more channels. I had a feeling this would happen... -
I am not watching but its easy to understand why Meri would be angry. Think about if you've ever worked at a crappy job, and for various reasons you can't just easily quit and get a new one. Co-workers often start bonding by bitching to each other about how much everything sucks, or what a jerk the boss is. Then one day, someone announces they're quitting. Suddenly it makes everyone else question themselves why they are just sitting there taking it.

Why does Brittany drive a Mercedes? What reason does she need a car like that? -

I think you might have just solved the mystery. I too have an old receiver and its not connected to the internet. I've started losing channels that have switched to HD - such as CNN, MSNBC, and another one. I haven't upgraded my receiver yet because I imagine it will lock me into a contract and/or jack my rate up. -
S04.E14: Mr. and Mrs. and Mrs. . . . and Mrs.

This is the part that confounds me the most. Its a fascinating aspect of human nature that we see on shows such as 90DF, etc. ... people using translator apps for months or years, and managing to "fall in love" with the other person. It boggles my mind. -

The most telling detail is that Pedro would not go to counseling. We all know marital therapy is not a magical panacea, but he can't claim he did everything to make it work after refusing counseling. These two were doomed from the jump. Amazing they lasted this long. -
I'm of the mind that Branwin's reaction to Chazz attempting "intimacy" is because she is deeply unattracted to him. She's built up this emotional connection to him for two years and now that they're in person, the thought of getting naked with him turns her stomach. She's using the "I only had sex while high" thing as a cover. That part is most likely true, but I don't think its the actual reason. I think he makes her skin crawl and the emotional meltdown on the couch when he brought up having sex later that night was because her body and mind are in complete conflict. She knows he would be good for her, give her a stable life, etc.., but she cannot override her body's reaction when he starts touching and trying to kiss her.

Just curious if anyone here has DirecTV - this show is not coming up when I search for either "Teen mom" or "young and pregnant." It is so weird. eta: I just scrolled forward in time to next Tuesday, and the episode is sitting right there. I can't figure out why it doesn't come up in search. I will need to go watch the last two episodes on the mtv website. -

The Family Chantel
ChristmasJones replied to Drogo's topic in 90 Day Fiancé: Other Spinoffs & Specials
As we all know, this relationship was doomed from the start. I'm trying to make sense of the mutual complaints they both seem to have about each other because its hard to know who is telling more of the actual truth. Also because I am trying to determine if any of Pedro's complaints have merit - do we believe that Chantel has wanted to hold him back from becoming financially successful (and thus, not as dependent on her)? Pedro says that Chantel doesn't want him to be successful, doesn't do chores on her days off, goes on trips and pays for her friends to go on trips, sleeps all day and doesn't want to be active. (If she travels all the time, that seems to contradict the sleeping all day.) Chantel says that Pedro gave up on the relationship, they haven't had sex in a year, he doesn't care about her feelings, he goes out at night and stays out all night. Is that about right? What do you think the actual root issues are here? -

S04.E10: So Many Things Could Go Wrong
ChristmasJones replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in Seeking Sister Wife
The men this season are beyond duds, they are like super duds. Where do these women come from? I loved Tosha's mother who kept calling it a cult. They need to hire to host the reunion, that would be fun. I wish Danielle would divorce this dud and go find some guy who would cherish her. I struggle to understand why she has decided to go along with these shenanigans. I feel like I need a shower after every episode. -
For anyone who is watching the Real Housewives of Atlanta ... do you recall Sonia (sp?) emphasizing how marijuana is illegal in Jamaica to the other housewives? Maybe she is just saying that because she is going there for professional reasons.

I'm happy with the winner. I would have been happy with any of the final three winning.

I don't know how anyone could stand to be around Rachel for more than short periods of time. The non-stop babbling would drive me utterly batty. It just never stops!!!! She needs to learn to get a grip on that, because as she gets older, fewer people are going to put up with it. -
Olivia is in a tough position because she got the brunt of Kim's BS, and no one else really knows how that feels. Let's say Moriah was married to Max and his mother treated Moriah the way Kim did Olivia. Moriah might be singing a different tune. This is a problem in families with a narcissistic parent - not everyone gets treated the same, and so naturally factions form. And then the ones who need the support don't often get it from the ones who were favored, or who had thicker skins, or whatever. If Olivia and Ethan decide to stay together, Olivia is going to have to learn how to be in the same room as Kim. The family is just too large, with too many connections amongst so many siblings, for her to ever have a life separate from them. The messed up part is that Kim got to treat her like crap and essentially get away with it. The person who tries to stand up to the narc/bully usually ends up an outcast or pressured to just go along with it because its too uncomfortable for everyone else to deal with. Maybe Olivia would be better off using all the self-improvement she's done to find a guy with a better family. I don't know. I get the feeling that Ethan is ambivalent about their relationship sometimes, but it could be editing from the show.

All Episodes Talk: Let’s Talk About Dr Phil the Show
ChristmasJones replied to Lola16's topic in Dr. Phil
Anyone catch the woman Jane who gave away around $1 million to a love scammer named Jonathon? This guy got her to sell her HOUSE!!! She made a comment about it "closing soon" on the show, so I was hoping to hear that Dr. Phil would help her work with the buyers to possibly cancel the sale. I think she is one of the most extreme cases of this I've seen on this show. It reveals how desperate people can become to feel loved and wanted by someone. I am amazed that people continue to fall for these. -
I found myself hoping this first couple makes it based on how they were vibing during and after the wedding. It seemed like a genuine, natural flirtation and some commonality. I think this is a situation where if the woman will let herself get over the dude's looks, she might end up with a guy who adores her and would treat her well. Time will tell though.

Is there anywhere to watch the past seasons of this show? I randomly started watching it last season and the family estrangement caught my attention as we have that in mine. I view Barry and Kim as the classic passive dad / controlling-narcissistic mother couple. This is such a common pairing it seems.

I once had a boss who liked to create nick-names for everyone. Not quite as bad as Smashley, but for the name Derek, she would say "D-man" or something like that, usually some sort of phrase that rhymed with your name. I hated the nick-name she came up with for me. After a while, I came into work one day and she called me the nick-name and I replied back with a nick-name for her, quite similar to the type she uses. She never called me the nick-name after that.

The term that came to mind for Gary is "walking STD" - I do not get this guy's appeal. He is not that young - is he in his 30s? You'd think he might start maturing at some point.
