  1. I agree there was really nothing to break off. Kelton approached Gil about courting Josie and instead of just saying no or not right now or something, he made Josie tell Kelton to go away and never contact her again. Not the smarted move on Gil's part. But Kelton seems to still be hanging on to his resentment over that which is silly as well.
  2. I suspect the contract was similar to what JB Duggar did with his family. There was an LLC that was paid by TLC then he doled out what he chose (which wasn't much) to the rest of the family. I suspect that some of the older Brown kids refused to continue to sign on as part of the Brown LLC, so they wouldn't be obligated to be on the show if they didn't want to. I know at least Logan and Leon avoided the cameras at Christine's wedding. I'm not sure how it is now since Kody and Robyn created their own LLC SADKRAB (I know it's DABSARK, but SADKRAB fits better) which doesn't include anyone but them and the tenders. It could be that Christine participates, but she doesn't have to be around Kody to do it.
  3. I'm a sap, so I loved this episode. It was so nice to see the two families blending and everyone just having a great time together. I loved the ladies all on the dance floor just having fun, especially Annie really getting into it. I also loved seeing David actually dancing with Christine rather than dancing around her and occasionally grabbing her and nearly pulling her arm out of it's socket like Kody does. I didn't even mind the lap dance because it was toward the end of the reception and everyone was a little tipsy by then. I would be mortified if it were me, but I think everyone just laughed it off. I'm sorry Gwen couldn't be there and I don't see an organic chemistry midterm as a lame excuse not to come. She would have lost at least three days of study time with traveling and wedding activities, not to mention the risk that she wouldn't get back in time for her exam. I loved Truley bringing up the rings. My minor complaint was that Corbin the officiant seemed to be rushing through the ceremony and just started talking instead of hanging back and letting Truley hug and give good wishes to her mom and David. Fortunately he quickly got a clue and waited. That was so touching to me and I also loved Truley sashaying off the stage when she was done. I can't wait to see what kind of snarky personality she has as she gets older. Loved that her hair matched her outfit. Janelle looked stunning in her dress. That color can really wash someone with pale skin out unless it is pretty saturated. The style and the color were perfect for her and her hair and makeup were nice too. I loved her bringing up all the hateful things Kody said throughout their marriage and the little dig about Christine sitting on the porch in her rocking chair watching her growing family was perfect. Go Janelle. Because I'm a sap I do hope after some years and softening of feelings that Meri can be included in the group as well. I want her to have happiness too. She endured a lot of pain from Kody just like Christine. Heck, he melted down the wedding ring she gave him behind her back then acted like it was no big deal. Then he divorced her to marry Robyn and went on yet another honeymoon. I want Meri to find someone who loves her the way David loves Christine. I know she has made mistakes, but none of them were perfect and she doesn't deserve a lifetime of punishment. Kidney and his sour faced bride can go live miserably ever after for all I care. Could have done without seeing them kissing. Maybe even Robyn realized that was the quickest way to get the camera operator to run away.
  4. I not only hope Allie gets away from this toxic brew as soon as she can, I hope she doesn't do what her mother is doing and repeat the cycle with her own kids (if she has them). I could see her becoming childfree if she can get away from the fundie prison. I wish Alyssa wasn't the pray it away type and would get herself some help with her issues. She is carrying around a lot of resentment over her upbringing and just taking it out on her kids. What a mess.
  5. My take on Kelton is that there is probably some unprocessed trauma from his mother's death that leads to some of his odd behavior. I guarantee you that since they are fundies, there was little or no grief counseling for Kelton's dad or any of the kids. They just had to pray it away. Witness how uptight Kelton is around Josie giving birth. He is convinced that the epidural was the issue which @Notabugmade very clear wasn't the case, yet even when the pain is bad enough that Josie passes out, he refuses to budge and educate himself. As far as his actions around courting Josie, he clearly is not reflective enough to let go of the grudge. Most people as they grew older would realize that Gil had a point that both he and Josie were too young. Now Gil handled it poorly. Making Josie break it off instead of talking to Kelton himself and insisting that they couldn't even communicate was a weasely move and really pretty dumb. That set up a Romeo and Juliet dynamic in both of them that was guaranteed to push them back together. All that being said, it was clear even from Kelton's writing on their story that he was still hanging on to a lot of resentment. As for interacting with the rest of the family, I couldn't see Kelton and Evan getting along regardless. Besides Evan being a lazy grifter, they have completely opposite approaches to life and Evan's kids are pretty much feral. And Kelton may also resent Travis because he didn't have to work his butt off building a business like Kelton did. I think Kelton needs to let go of all this resentment and count his blessings more. And since it can't be said enough, if Kelton is watching his kids while Josie does weddings it is NOT babysitting. It is parenting.
  6. What about toasters?
  7. All that clutter in the bathroom. Yuck. It has to be so dusty and smelly in there because there is no way to clean those fake flowers and the upholstered chair right next to the toilet. Of course, in recent pictures, Jill has no nostrils, so maybe she can't smell anything.
  8. She did a good job doing that herself. Much better than the mess Jessa makes out of her kids' hair. Glad they are OK doing some normal things couples their age do like dancing lessons. They are still far from liberal, though.
  9. Maybe God does look out for these fools. By now that barndo should have burned down with the questionable electrical work and all the candles and fake flowers all over the place. Same with Kaylee's house and the wood railing with flammable Christmas decorations right next to the wood burning stove. I don't know what Dave Ramsey's position on MLMs is, but anyone styling themselves a financial advisor would lose credibility with me immediately if they recommended people get into one. Jon and Kaylee are going broke paying for that junk and she is putting her baby at risk if she is really drinking that stuff while nursing. Seems to me, I've heard that claim before that that pink crap increases your milk production. Maybe it was one of Kaylee's prior posts. And her overuse of commas makes me twitch. Gideon is going to be illiterate with her schooling him.
  10. Dropping in again to comment on this. I was thinking about the fact that the wedding was around the time most colleges have midterms. It's entirely possible that Gwen had an exam coming up. She would have lost quite a lot of study time between travel and wedding activities if she had gone. Then if the exam was the next week, if anything went wrong with travel she wouldn't have made it back in time. I was a chemistry major in college and I can tell you that studying for organic chemistry is quite an undertaking. I needed a lot of space to spread out with my text book, notes, and scratch pad to draw out chemical formulas and do calculations. I even had a set for making models of molecules. I didn't use it very often, but my roommates loved it. I often came back to the room to find various sculptures made with my modeling set.
  11. I agree. Christine doesn't always think before she posts, so it is entirely understandable that she wouldn't realize how that came across. I think it just rubbed me wrong because I really feel for Truley. That child has been through it with both her parents. I hope Mitch can help her learn to ride a bike including making sure she has one that is the right size for her.
  12. Speaking of Mykelti, isn't it time she got over whatever went on with her wedding? Seriously, you have three kids with this guy and somehow live a pretty extravagant lifestyle with no visible means of support. Time to quit picking at Christine about it. And as for Tony, if he really wants to show off his weight loss, looking like an unmade bed is not the way to do it. Tuck in your shirt, dude. Like others, I was really moved by Annie's emotional reaction to being able to be there for Christine's wedding. It must have hurt to know she wasn't welcome at the first one because of their religion. It's good to know that some healing from stuff like that can take place even if it takes a while. I really hope Meri can find the kind of happiness Christine has. I know some don't like her and she has made some bad mistakes along the way, but I can't imagine living through what she did with Kody. It sounds like he was just as abusive to her has he was to Christine. Melting down the wedding ring she gave him and refusing to be intimate with her for years had to have taken a toll. I hope Christine and Janelle come to understand that someday. Meri does seem to have some empathy for what they went through now.

    Mykelti

It wasn't in an episode. Someone imported part of a post on Reddit talking about a live Mykelti did where she talked about the story. I find her annoying on the whole, but I did feel bad for her in that situation and I think it informs a lot of her desperate quest for approval now.
  14. I wanted to bring something over here that was being discussed on the Mykelti thread regarding Christine's social media post recognizing Mykelti for being the first of her children to accept David. First full disclaimer. I am thrilled that Christine ditched that ramen headed fool and that she has gotten to experience having a man that loves her and actually wants to marry her. I hope things go well for them and that she isn't just looking at this through rose colored glasses. Christine is pretty immature and doesn't always have the best judgement, but I don't wish her ill. That being said, this post really got on my nerves. First there's Truley. This poor girl has been through it the past few years. First, she was the last person to know about Christine's plans to leave Kody and move to Utah when she was the one who was going to be most affected by those plans. Then she had to find out by overhearing Christine talking about it on the phone. I get that Christine wanted to have Kody there with her to tell Truley, but she should have known what an a$$ Kody is and that he would avoid doing it. She should have stepped up. Was she going to wait until the moving truck arrived? Then she filmed telling Truley that they were leaving in two weeks or something and wanted her to discuss her feelings on camera. Truley did the right thing and walked away and gave her nothing. Then the poor kid has to manage online school while Christine galivants around and finally settles in the townhouse. So, Truley finally gets to go to in-person school and only a few months later, Christine trots out the new love of her life and Truley is just supposed to turn handsprings over him. I can't imagine how uncomfortable that was. As for the other kids, I can imagine they were pretty reserved around David because they wanted to be sure he wasn't some scammer who was going to take advantage of their mother. I would imagine Aspyn particularly wanted to check him out before getting too close to him. This is all normal stuff that any of us would do if we saw our parent rushing into a relationship with someone who was a virtual stranger. If Christine was trying to make amends to Mykelti by that post, it backfired on the rest of her kids. She just needs to stop with the public displays and start figuring out how to live day to day with David.

    Mykelti

I do feel bad for Mykelti largely because of the story about the stupid ring she was denied because she supposedly did something at around 12 years old that ruined her purity or something. I never fully understood what that was about, but I am sure it hurt. My problem is that I guarantee you that came from Kody and Christine was just doing his bidding by enforcing it. Christine got all the blame from Mykelti for that I can't imagine being that age and being told you have to earn your way into the family and get some stupid piece of junk jewelry. And to top it off, there was never any indication of how she was supposed to do this. As I understand it, Christine finally went and got Mykelti some sort of ring herself. My issue with Christine's statement is that she threw the rest of her kids under the bus to supposedly make amends to Mykelti and that's not cool. I will expand on that in the Christine thread.
  16. Michelle is shrinking at an alarming rate.
  17. Gee Sobbyn lied again and got found out. What a shock. 😀 So now we have the lie about the personality test that was actually filmed and now the lie about the ring. I really hope Meri is finally giving up magical thinking regarding Kody and has really moved on. There was never anything she could do that would make him love her. I did love in one of the tell all episodes that she said that his being upset was not her problem anymore.
  18. The one thing I felt bad about was Kody's parting shot at Meri. So now the story is that he had to acquire more wives because Meri was supposedly so awful that he couldn't stand to be married to her and couldn't divorce her (until much later apparently), so he just had to have other wives. Sure Jan. I'm sure Meri has heard all this before and just blows it off now. I do think the producers have had it with Kody and Robyn. Everyone else watched the clips they were given even if they were uncomfortable for them. But "I'm not dramatic" Robyn had to act hysterical and run from the room during one clip and refused to watch another because she claimed a panic attack. Then Kody flatly refused to watch the clip of him screaming at Janelle and proceeded to lean forward as a way of getting in the producer's face to rant about how it was all Janelle's fault anyway. Then he refused to watch the clip of the picnic table scene. I think at that point the producer had had enough, because you could see him in the little box actually watching the clip and making faces. Maybe they told him that if he wanted to be paid he had to watch. I have said this before and I will say it again. Why is he still so angry? He is supposedly with the love of his life and has what he wants. Christine is with the love of her life and is positively giddy. Why aren't he and Robyn at the very least content?

    Mykelti

Sigh, another anti vaxxer whose kids are going to get all sorts of preventable illnesses and then spread them around. Way to go Mykelti. And I'm all for homeopathic stuff in certain cases, I even got my cat acupuncture once upon a time, but there is a time to get your kids to a real doctor instead of letting them suffer.
  20. That picture of the guys in the hot tub with the TV so close by looks like a horrible accident waiting to happen. And I could have gone a long time without seeing doughy Duggar boys in swim attire.
  21. I like Kodilocks myself. But some time ago on another discussion, my autocorrect suggested Kidney and I went with it.
  22. I'd like to believe Jill wrote that nasty diatribe from Kaylee, but sadly, I may be wrong. It does have a lot of Jill's style like random capitals, silly emojis, and random commas. I certainly hope Kaylee didn't tell the mother who lost her baby that at least she had a spare, so that was OK. That's stunningly insensitive.
  23. The site is working fine now, but much to the consternation of Sister Wives fans, it was down last night.
  24. Yeah, I watched this scene and Robyn's response is one of complete panic because he is about to say something really stupid and damaging. And what made it worse is that he was responding to a guy who is one of his few fans. Kody needs some sort of psychiatric help.
  25. Thanks @General Daysfor all the useful information. When I was in college, I took a class on sects and cults and I remember learning about sealing being for LDS eyes only. Even the room where it's done is off limits to anyone else. BTW, the green apron they wear looks to be borrowed from Masonic tradition. The Masons wear something like that and from my vague recollection, how you wear the apron denotes your status in Masonic hierarchy. As part of that class, I actually attended Sunday services at a local Mormon ward. It was fascinating and confirmed for me that I would make a terrible Mormon. People could have taken bets on how quickly I could get myself excommunicated. And I only saw that many pregnant women in one place at my OB/GYN's office. Anyway, as part of the main service, a family spoke giving their experience of going to the temple as a family to be sealed. So sealing isn't just for newly married couples, entire families will do it as well.
