  1. It took me too long to figure out what they wanted for FJ. I ran out of time before I was able to do the math. I did get it before the correct response was revealed, but the music had stopped, so I can't count it. I did get the TS of Polonius, loan/lone, dents/dense, trust/trussed, heart, cash/cache, Matterhorn (after Mont Blanc was ruled out), phlox, ileum, and Hitchcock. Ben reminded me of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and the new champ reminds me of Josh Randall from the TV show, "Ed." Neither of those is a bad thing.
  2. I figured the first part was a rehearsal, and the yellow dress part was the actual filming.
  3. Aww, that makes me sad. I know he had a good, long run, but still. RIP, Tony!
  4. I never in a million years would have come up with the correct response for FJ. I said Kubla Khan. The only TS I got were king snake, Cheryl Strayed, Treasure Island, and The Way Way Back. I'm good with Nik winning. I hadn't paid attention to David's tics before, but yeah, I see what y'all mean. I liked Toula's voice.
  5. Seems like it should just be called an I'm too tired to cook dinner dinner. I mean, I generally actually do make a real dinner for myself unless I'm just tired or maybe if I need food quickly. I don't get why it's called a girl dinner, either. And now the word "dinner" just looks weird.
  6. I really didn't have any idea for FJ, so I guessed Guernica because Jeopardy! loves that painting. Much like I guessed Steinbeck the other day. I was surprised to be correct! Good for me! I also got the TS of Norman Rockwell, hornbill, salt, and lead.
  7. Catching up from last night via the archive... Instaget FJ, surprisingly enough, but I only got the TS of spades/hearts/diamonds/clubs, and Challenger. I said Omoo instead of Typee -- I've never read either one, and only know of them from crossword puzzles.
  8. Agreed, but perhaps the news readers and all the other folks who are talking about it should have learned to pronounce it correctly in the first place. Just because news readers and reporters are not scientists (and are proud of not being scientists!) doesn't mean they shouldn't make an effort.
  9. As much as I admire Cheryl for getting things done in the team competitions, and for her efforts in the individual ones, it is not worth a potential permanent injury to continue on a game show. I get not wanting just to quit, but she could have ended up in the hospital, or possibly not able to work ever again.
  10. I think I've mentioned this before, but I had Growing Up Skipper, who got boobs when you turned her arm a certain way. She got flat-chested again when you turned her arm the other way.
  11. Napoleon was an interesting response for FJ tonight, which was an instaget for me. I was so sure I was wrong, though! There's really only one response when the clue is about Alaska. I also got the TS of Scotia, Trinity, carillon, Burundi, Los Alamos, and Shelley.
  12. Does pronunciation count as grammar? The constant mispronunciation of "fentanyl" is driving me insane. It has been in the news a lot lately, and of all the news readers and rehab workers and all the other people talking about it, exactly one has pronounced it correctly. It is not "fentan-all," which implies a spelling of "fentanol." That -yl at the end is more of an "ill" sound.
  13. I like my burgers brown all the way through, but steaks and roast beef should be nice and pink. I used to say, "just wave it past the grill on the way to my plate", but I like it a little bit more done than that these days.
  14. Minor, but painful peeve today -- splinters, especially when they're under my fingernail.
  15. I want that guy to cite his sources. Where on earth did he get that notion?
  16. Apparently, according to some groups, the Barbie movie "pushes a trans ideology", and those groups have condemned the movie. Which guarantees that I'll see it.
  17. I didn't really have a lot of perimenopause issues, as I continued taking the Pill until, as it happens, I was finished. I had one last Pill period after I stopped taking it, and haven't had one since. But the hot flashes! Oy! There's no rhyme or reason to them! I can't associate them with food, weather, time of day, time of month, anything. Completely random spontaneous combustion.
  18. I do still live there, and I did notice that. The dates of K-12 schools only matter to me because I would prefer to avoid getting behind a school bus on my way to work! I think most schools around here start in August.
  19. My high school usually started mid-August, and we were finished before Memorial Day. Then the state passed the so-called “King’s Dominion Law” that mandated that school start after Labor Day, so teenagers could continue their summer jobs for the holiday weekend. School districts without amusement parks, and with bad winter weather had to petition for waivers to start earlier in case of snow days.
  20. Back when I had periods, and before I started the Pill, mine would come anywhere between three and six weeks apart. And at least once I only had a week between. It was awful.
  21. I am beyond ready to punch Paul out.... er, for Paul to punch out. I wish it had been him against Cheryl, too. Did they use all the bruised and broken apples for the pressing at the end? No way any of the apples they picked up and slung around were going to market as is!
  22. I correctly guessed FJ because Jeopardy! loves that guy. The year and central California fit, too. The only TS I got were gluons and supinate.
