Faux Life: Things That Happen On TV But Not In Reality
Browncoat replied to Kromm's topic in Everything Else TV
Not only were we required to shower after PE, which we had every day, the PE teacher actually checked our names off a list and made sure we did. The only time we didn't have to was if we had our periods, and we had to tell the teacher we were "reporting" to get out of the group shower situation. It was horrible. We rotated through sports, too -- basketball, gymnastics, tennis, softball/baseball, and volleyball. We had introductions to things like field hockey and soccer, but didn't spend a lot of time on those. -

I didn't even know it was the Statue of Liberty Guy -- I had nothing for FJ tonight. And I was doing so well this week, too! I suppose you could say she Clavin-ed it -- Cliff Clavin with his FJ response of "Who are three people who've never been in my kitchen?" As for missed clues, I only got The Scarlet Letter and Taxco. I should have gotten Butterfinger, but I forgot which category we were in.

Maybe he could make you one!

Archive game for me for Tuesday night, so I'm catching up now. I got FJ, because of the water references. I didn't think I was right when I wrote it down, though. The only TS I got was Vietnam -- a total guess based on the spelling in the clue, since I couldn't see the picture.

Most of my teachers taught until the bell rang. Then there was the mad scramble to pack up and get to your next class -- I think we had ten minutes, but the school was fairly compact, so it was generally plenty. -
Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

I've never heard that! It's kind of awesome. -
FJ was not an instaget, but I got it -- it was a total guess, though. And I got the TS of drumsticks, Val Kilmer, iron, owl, hare, galleon, Thebes, Gingham Dog, and soliloquy. Jill was very cheerful.

That's why it's so quiet.

We just called it the Pig -- almost never the whole name. -

I have a backpack from Red Oxx -- the K-12 Kat Pack -- it's very sturdy, a little pricey, but comes in great colors. They have a lifetime warranty, too. -
To be fair, if you don't like Wes Anderson in general, there is no way on Earth you'd like Asteroid City. It is unquestionably the most Wes Anderson-y Wes Anderson movie he's made. I loved it.

I got my last bras from Mark & Spencer -- I really like them. Someone in the Royals chit-chat thread pointed me in that direction (sorry, I don't remember who!). And yes, they do ship to the US. -

Say What?: Commercials That Made Us Scratch Our Heads
Browncoat replied to Lola16's topic in Commercials
I love Grainger! I buy from them a lot for work. I would categorize them as hardware/construction -- they have everything from screws to shelving to scaffolding, plus a lot of safety-type things (hard hats, flashlights, etc.). -
Y'all. I am getting a big fat check (cheque?) from British Airways because they held us on a plane at the gate in Heathrow for five hours last June. It took them long enough to process the claim, which I made as soon as I (finally) made it home, more than 15 hours after I should have done. They did give me a meals voucher at the time, but I missed out on the hotel vouchers (they ran out!). That was just as well, though, since they were able, at midnight, to get me on a 6:00 am flight -- I would have had barely enough time to get to a hotel before I had to return to the airport. Woo hoo! Free money! (Sort of)

I've heard it. It's fine, but I think I prefer the original. It's so much more meaningful to me coming from a woman -- I knew girls like that in high school, who relied on their boyfriends to take them away in those fast cars for a better life.

That song breaks my heart every time I hear it. It's a great song.

It has to be set partly in 12 to illustrate Snow's history with that district and why he has the attitude he does towards Katniss. It also helps explain his offhand comment to Seneca about the outer districts. But yes, it is primarily in the Capitol.

I will play, too! Also hoping I'll do better.

Oh! I don't know that I've seen one whole -- I've eaten them, though, and I love the flavor. I went to Costa Rica last December, and the tour company chefs made a sorbet with it. I think I had that for dessert every day. So yummy -- I'm a little jealous of that. Y'know, now that I know what it is.
