  1. Because when you hoarded it all at the beginning of the pandemic, that was the only place you had space to store it.
  2. It was a very bad night for me! I don't suppose the judges would have accepted, "that Russian woman who went to space" for FJ -- that's all I could come up with. Never in a million years would I have gotten her name. And the only TS that I got was thunderbolt. I almost knew a couple of others, but just couldn't dredge them up in time.
  3. I don't think she dislikes pickles. She tasted and liked Clara's award-winning pickles, and she liked the store-bought pickles Andy and Barney replaced her bad home pickles with, but somehow never recognized that her pickles were bad.
  4. Not only did Andy and Barney say they tasted like kerosene, the judges at the fair said the same thing! Seems like Aunt Bee might notice a thing like that.
  5. And finger guns when you're introduced! Don't forget the finger guns!
  6. Not even a laurel to go with the hearty handshake?
  7. I went to see "In The Heights" again last night (just as good the second time!), so am just now watching Tuesday's game. Instaget FJ, though I did stop and count the letters before I wrote it down. TS I got include Earthsea, California and Oregon, 1800, Argentina, and Mother Nature. It's not nice to fool Mother Nature!
  8. Heh, @Bastet, my first thought at that question was also “jock itch”. @853fisher, I’m inclined to believe that Jeopardy viewers will keep watching regardless of whether or not the game is a runaway. I watch as much to see the FJ clue (and to see if I can respond correctly!) as to see who wins. Unlike sporting events, where if you know who’s going to win, the game loses appeal. I’ve stopped watching those, but I don’t think I’ve ever turned off a runaway Jeopardy game, as much as I might like to, James.
  9. I waffled between Roget and Webster but went with Webster in the end. Congrats to the new champ. TS I got include Outta, Six Million Dollar Man, Florida, The Great Santini, and JFK.
  10. I enjoyed it a lot! I *loved* that the two old, cranky, ice-cream-eating women were actually sea monsters. I also liked that the sea monsters can infinitely change back and forth. Alberto's situation made me sad. Of course it was obvious that his father was gone forever (did the villagers kill him as a sea monster?), and it was equally obvious that Giulia's father would apprentice Alberto, but it still made me happy when that happened. Not sure how I feel about Luca going off to school -- isn't there a local school he could attend for a while before going so far away? Also, I worried about him hanging out of the train while it was going through tunnels. I rank it way above The Good Dinosaur and Cars 2.
  11. I didn't get FJ, but I should have -- that was a "d'oh" moment when the correct response was revealed. Seems so obvious in hindsight. Lots of TS tonight! The ones I got include Beauty and the Beast, WalMart, aspen, Olduvai, oeuvre, crepe, and Damascus. I almost said Chagall, but decided against him at the last second. It wouldn't surprise me if they missed oeuvre because they didn't know how to pronounce it -- I never get it right, and I had to look up how to spell it.
  12. Julie Andrews was a coloratura before the surgery that wrecked her voice. Watch “Victor/Victoria” — she demonstrates her range on several songs.
  13. I waffled between Luxembourg and Liechtenstein, but decided on Liechtenstein in the end. And even though it didn't matter in the end, the end guy should have bet zero. I also got the TS of Rio Grande, .tv, Lost In Space Ghost, The Mikado, The Monkey's Paw (great story, but so incredibly creepy!), and 200. Emily reminded me a bit of Emma Stone.
  14. Instaget FJ for me tonight. TS I got tonight included Mutts, nitroglycerin, Anais Nin, and The Black Stallion. That "You got it!" is starting to wear really thin. Do you think the guest hosts decide in advance what words or phrases they'll use in response to the contestants? I'd prefer just a simple, "Correct." and "Ooooh, sorry, that's incorrect." or slight variations of those. I am at least getting accustomed to Savannah's voice.
  15. I went to see "In The Heights" last night instead of watching Jeopardy, so I've only just caught up. FJ was an instaget for me, as it seems to have been for many people. I wrote down "Jackie Kennedy Onassis", since I wasn't sure what would be acceptable. I also got the TS of pursuit, grace, Discover Card, and trapdoor spider. Savannah seemed slightly less annoying to me last night. We'll see how it goes tonight.
  16. I will watch that if I come across it when I'm channel surfing. I have an irrational love of that movie, despite its many flaws. I also love Notting Hill, and most Hugh Grant movies. Music & Lyrics is underrated.
  17. I saw this last night, and really enjoyed it. I thought it was fun, fanciful (dancing on the side of the building!), and freaky (the arm dude in the pool!). I haven't seen the stage version, so I don't know what was changed. I feel like it painted a nice portrait of that neighborhood and its residents. The music, of course, was fantastic, and I thought all of the actors did fabulous jobs -- not a weak voice among them. It reminded me a little of West Side Story -- some want to stay in America, some want to return to the islands. But it reminded me a LOT of Do The Right Thing, especially the Piraguero vs. Mr. Softee. That scene during the movie was almost identical to the one in Do The Right Thing, but I really liked Lin's post-credit scene. Both Spike Lee and Lin really captured the essence of a neighborhood. I also loved the clothes! The outfit Nina had on when we meet her was just adorable. I did have a few quibbles, though. I find it hard to believe that Nina wouldn't be able to get a full-ride scholarship, even just for being a first-generation college student. I also would have liked a little closure -- what became of Nina? For that matter, what happened with Sonny? Did he get his citizenship? Was the $96,000 enough? It might have been nice to use a little of that to help Nina so her father wouldn't have to sell everything. Where did he go? What happened to Benny? So many questions! So many loose ends! I want a happy ending for all of them!
  18. Or possibly the parody, "Ned Beatty Had the Hardest Part".
  19. I don't remember who was 3, but the Pyrenees was 4 -- a Rivergroves dog, of course. Rivergroves has some gorgeous dogs. Oh, wait, 3 might have been a boxer? I'd have to check.
  20. I came up with laissez-faire too. I never would have thought of the Monroe Doctrine. Oh well. Of the three, I'm good with Katie winning again. Seems like there were a lot of TS. Ones I got include vodka, aircraft carrier, gin, second base, Beau Brummel, Plymouth Rock, Omar Khayyam, and the walrus. I guess Savannah did an okay job, but I'm afraid her voice and vocal fry are going to be problematic for me.
  21. Since I formerly owned Pyrenees, perhaps I should have referred to toy dogs as hors d'oeuvres. LOL. My Pyr's poops were larger than some of those dogs! I was pleased to see that the Pyrenees at least made the cut in Group! It seems rare that that happens -- I don't think I've ever seen one win group. Not that I've seen a ton of dog shows, mind you, but it seems like the smaller dogs are usually favored. I was ecstatic the year the Newfie won.
