  1. The sexism was rampant in this show, and in that way, Andy never progressed.
  2. Before I finished the whole FJ clue, I said Shenandoah, but when "no longer in Virginia" registered, I went west, and ended up with the correct river. TS I got include Up, Hoyle, blowhole, coffee filter, recombinant DNA, anemia, and thymine. I really didn't like Marciano's suit. Gupta's barely registered, though I did like his tie.
  3. I've never read the book, so I had no clue for FJ today. Boo, hiss. I did get the TS of Jemima, Des Moines, goldbrick, and Carl Reiner. It made me sad that Carl Reiner was a TS! Also, I'd like to thank Radar O'Reilly and his hometown of Ottumwa for my being able to get Des Moines. I said perfumery instead of fragrance for that clue, and I'm counting it as correct! SA talked too fast for me -- I had a hard time understanding what he said sometimes.
  4. Agreed, and I'm always polite to my servers. I was even polite to the one who ignored me, on the rare occasion I got her attention. But when I feel like I'm being pointedly and purposely ignored? Sorry, no tip. Incidentally, that restaurant didn't stay in business much longer, and the reviews all cited poor and rude service!
  5. I've only ever not tipped once, and that was because the service truly was abysmal --for my table, and my table only. I watched the server (and the owner/manager!) visit and chat with people at all the other tables except mine. I couldn't even get my water glass refilled. I did not leave a tip, but I did leave a note explaining why not. I usually tip at least 20%, but I just couldn't do it that day. I do hate the tipping system we have in the US, but if you're going to rely on tips, you should do your job well.
  6. The problem is that people use “could care less” when they mean “couldn’t care less”, and give me a confused look when I ask them why they care at all. But they said they could care less! That means they must care at least a little!
  7. Thank you for saying "couldn't care less" instead of the incorrect-but-more-common "could care less." Also for "unfazed" instead of "unphased".
  8. I got Prussia immediately from Prussian blue, then got stuck thinking of a blue shirt, but came up with France in the nick of time. I should have concentrated more on the war than the colors! TS I got include Mariah & Drew Carey, eagle, hare & rhea, Civil Disobedience, Boot Hill, and Albania.
  9. I appreciate and enjoy professional fireworks spectacles. It's the idiot neighbors with their random fireworks that bother me.
  10. Didn't Ashley say that he would have freed his slaves if the war hadn't done it for him?
  11. What, no floating bassinet? Then what's the point?
  12. I knew what they were going for for FJ today, but I had no idea what year that was. I made a wild guess of 1916. So close and yet so far away! At least I didn't guess 1500, I suppose. I did at least get the TS of Imagine Dragons, odyssey, Stutz, deer, ramen, paleozoic, aerosol, and Lost. The Lost TS kind of surprised me. Dr. Gupta did fine. I like his voice.
  13. I 100% agree with y'all about Molly Ringwald's prom dress in Pretty in Pink. That thing was beyond hideous.
  14. I went to an actual movie theater this weekend to watch the 25th anniversary showing of The Birdcage. I mostly love this movie, but Val really pisses me off with his initial request that Armand and Albert not be themselves. I don't blame Albert one bit for having his feelings hurt by that request. Why should Senator Keeley's feelings matter more? Nathan Lane, Robin Williams, and Hank Azaria are brilliant, though, and I love all the little touches, such as when Albert is strolling along the street, shopping, and all the vendors greet him by name. I also love Robin Williams' striped linen suit he wears to the beach.
  15. I forgot the Bangles did a cover of "Hazy Shade of Winter" -- I am old enough to remember the original Simon & Garfunkel version.
  16. I still love my Reeboks, in the style I've worn since the 80s, and that I wear nearly every day. I also love my Merrill hiking shoes and my Keen sandals.
  17. Astonishingly, 4/5 this week, with an asterisk for Friday!
  18. Instaget FJ for me tonight, and woo hoo, an asterisk! I also got the TS of parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, along with ceiling, Columbia, and Saturn. I didn't specifically say Saturn V, but I'm counting it anyway. Armand really tanked, didn't he? Bless his heart. I felt kind of bad for him, but I'm good with the new champ, too.
  19. We had to listen to that book on tape in high school, during class. It took weeks and weeks to finish at 40 minutes per listen! So yeah, I got that one. I could have read it in one weekend. The only TS I got was mastodon. I hated Savannah's outfit tonight.
  20. Are you sure they are blackberries and not mulberries? Either way, they are edible, but you need to wash them really well.
  21. I preferred Savannah's yellow to Mayim's pink, but there is no possible way I could wear either of those colors.
  22. Taft-Hartley was one of those I just couldn’t quite manage to dredge up. I was sitting on my sofa, saying, “Har, Har, Har something!” And then time ran out.
  23. Because when you hoarded it all at the beginning of the pandemic, that was the only place you had space to store it.
