  1. I'm not sure I agree. Most of us haven't saved our brother, or prevented the pharmacist from poisoning someone. I frequently suffer bouts of clinical depression, and this movie just makes it worse. What would the world be like if I'd never been born? I can't see that I've made so much of a difference that it would matter. I honestly can't watch the movie at all because it sends me into a spiral.
  2. I'm watching. I like how open they all are with each other. I can't imagine talking about having eggs harvested with my father, mind you, but I think it's great that the daughters feel comfortable with that. I'm less happy with the pushing for grandchildren, but I feel like the daughters would shut that right down if they weren't on board. I still love Zuri. She's the best. And I honestly can't keep straight which daughter is which.
  3. I cut the flour down a little if I want flatter cookies. The dough isn't as stiff and it spreads out more.
  4. I immediately thought of "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead", but it took me a couple of seconds to remember who wrote it. I got it, but wasn't confident that it was right. Hooray, another asterisk for me this week! TS I got include cornice, tuna, Penn Station, anther, and Edinburgh.
  5. I'm not sure that size bed would fit in my house! I have a small house...
  6. Missy was fishing to see if Pastor Rob had a girlfriend because she wants to be his girlfriend. She wasn't really fishing for a sex-ed talk. Given her reaction to when Mary tried to talk to her and Sheldon, the twins both know the facts of life. And I would hope so, since Missy has started having periods.
  7. I am beyond peeved that the local Regal cinemas are apparently not going to show either The French Dispatch OR Encanto!
  8. I got FJ almost immediately, but then waffled between it and the Star of India. Finally decided to stick with my first response, and I'm glad I did. Asterisk for me! TS I got included Mammoth Cave, bluestone, and Chihuahua.
  9. If I could go back in time and make my younger self more assertive, I would likely have gotten a hysterectomy in my 20s. And had no regrets.
  10. It was pretty terrifying, but not only did all the people get out safely, they even got the pet fish out. No lives of any kind were lost in the fire. And, in true W&M fashion, the residents were glad it happened near the beginning of the semester so they didn't lose much in the way of class notes. Who cares about your clothes! Save the notebooks!
  11. I had terrible cramps, heavy flow, and to top it off, was highly irregular. I've never been so grateful for anything like I was grateful for the Pill. My pet peeve now, though, is the bloody hot flashes. We're coming up on three years since those started, and I can't really tell that they're calming down at all.
  12. Holy moly, @Netfoot! I'd keep an appropriate chew toy on hand at all times and redirect those little needles every time he went for me.
  13. I was in Dupont Freshman year -- the year Jefferson burned -- and then in a special interest house across Jamestown Road from Jefferson for the rest of my stay. But mostly I was in Millington and Rogers, neither of which exist any more! For that matter, the house I lived in doesn't exist, either. My favorite tourist on campus memory is one when I was studying in the Sunken Gardens, and this group of Chinese men wandered up and wanted to take my photo -- with them in the shot, of course. They were only speaking Chinese, but with pantomime, I understood what they were after, and I said OK. One actually put his arm around me for the shot (it was harmless), and all the while, they were chatting with each other in Chinese and laughing. As they walked away, though, one said, in English, loud enough for me to hear, "Just wait until your wife sees that photo!" I fell over laughing.
  14. I said Malaysia for FJ, though I was pretty sure it was wrong. I forgot Indonesia is further south. The only TS I got were bid, Mexico City, and monotreme.
  15. I saw this in the theatre last night, and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I read the books ages ago, and only have a vague recollection of the story, but I was hesitant about a 2.5 hour movie. I was not bored or distracted at all. The time flew by for me, though there were a few occasions where I was briefly confused whether we were in reality or in one of Paul's visions. The sound, though, was definitely an issue. Whoever mixed it did a terrible job. I get that some parts did merit a loudness, but not to the expense of the dialogue. There has to be a happy medium somewhere. Visually it was spectacular. I even liked the sand worms.
  16. It was the same in 82-86 when I was there. We barely locked our rooms, much less the whole building. I was on New Campus, though, so we didn't get the tourists.
  17. I got last night's FJ in the nick of time -- I did run through the lyrics, but I started more toward the middle and was able to get there in time. A better strategy would definitely have been to focus on the Europop aspect of the clue. The TS I got include Sean Connery, secretary bird, drowsy sword, and smart trams. Hillary seemed quite nervous. I was concerned she was going to break her buzzer, but her hesitation in picking the next clue already drove me nuts. Dane's bet was odd, but I'm not sad that it worked out for him. Middle guy definitely made the smart bet.
  18. I loved the way Gemma played Calvin. That was awesome.
  19. I made an educated guess for FJ tonight, though my first thought (before reading the whole clue) on seeing "Virginia" was Doug Wilder. Then I finished the clue, and had to think about congressmen instead of governors. Then I switched my thought process to poets, and came up with the correct response for FJ in the nick of time. I also got the TS of Everest and Cincinnati. It does not hurt my feelings that Kate did not win again, although Dane needs to cut it out with the swaying. Kate's "woo!" every time she answered correctly was getting on my nerves. I know, right?
  20. Our stairs were uncarpeted, but not terribly steep, so maybe it is the steepness.
  21. Strictly speaking, organic means it comes from living organisms. In chemistry, it means carbon-based -- if there isn't carbon, it isn't organic. So, no, metal springs are not organic.
  22. OMG, this piece on yawning is killing me! I haven't stopped yawning since it started.
  23. Keep an eye on his poops the next few days -- if he consumed any of that onion bag, he might get a bit constipated. Or he'll might have bits of the bag in his poops!
