  1. Another FJ where I had no idea. Australia never occurred to me. I thought about Europe and Asia, but didn't make it to Australia. The only TS I got were does and Mohawk.
  2. I couldn't get Heifer International out of my brain last night, so even though the city I work in has a sister city, I did not get FJ. And I did not get any TS, either. I cheered at Krys' pronunciation of Hercule Poirot.
  3. Instaget FJ tonight. Bells plus Paris? Of course. But then I spent the rest of the time thinking I must be wrong. Fortunately I couldn't think of anything else, and stuck with the correct response. The only TS I got was Stanley Kowalski, and was surprised it was a TS. Maybe they didn't know his last name and weren't sure if just "Stanley" would have been accepted? I suspect it would have been.
  4. I'm almost finished with Still Life by Sarah Winman. It's a character-driven novel set in both Florence and London, between 1944 and 1979. I've really enjoyed getting to know all the people. I've got one more section (they aren't really chapters) to read, and I think it's going to be terribly interesting.
  5. I am allergic to cats, and I would infinitely prefer it if my neighbors would keep their cats at home and not allow them to come into my yard to shed and pee and poop and lounge about on my patio furniture. Oh, and leave hairballs on my doormat.
  6. FYI, West Side Story (the original) is being shown at Regal Theaters tomorrow afternoon and Wednesday night as a Fathom Events, um, event.
  7. I thought Into The Woods was fine. But I was incredibly disappointed with Sweeney Todd because of the casting -- almost all of the casting. Tim Burton was probably the best choice of director, but I cannot believe that the choices he made for the cast were his best options. I mean, if the song says, "What a nice plump frame what's his name has... had... has", maybe you should cast someone who isn't rail thin. And now I want Shepherd's pie.
  8. I might have posted this before, but I still can't decide whether it's a good thing or a bad thing that the ticket sellers assume that I'm a senior citizen. I mean, on the one hand, I get a discount, but on the other, I'm several years from actually qualifying for that discount. I suppose it's more difficult with the masking situation, and they're just going by my salt-and-pepper hair, but I've had that since my early 30s. They gave me the discount twice in the last week.
  9. I pre-guessed Klingon when the category was revealed, and added Elvish to my pre-guess during the commercial.
  10. Instaget FJ for me again tonight, and I agree, @proserpina65, Watership Down is not a children's book. It is extraordinarily violent, considering it's about fluffy bunnies. I really like the book, though. TS I got include Wayne Brady, Louie, Lorraine, and Glenn Close. It does not hurt my feelings that Amy won again today.
  11. Oh, man, that's tough. I think I liked all of his musicals. My favorite is Sweeney Todd. RIP, Mr. Sondheim.
  12. FINALLY got to see the Hershey's kisses commercial, and thank goodness it was the original.
  13. I just got back and I loved it as well. The music was so good -- I was dancing in my seat! And yep, totally teared up at the end. Basically, ditto what you said, @Luckylyn! I enjoyed the short film before the movie, too.
  14. Instaget FJ for me tonight. It's the reason I dreaded turning 30 back in the day. 40 and 50 were cakewalks by comparison! I'm not even dreading 60! I got Illinois, and I also got Theroux, although if I'd had to spell it, I would have been in trouble. But I got distracted when Ken gave the correct response to that one -- did I need both names?
  15. Jeopardy for me tonight is on the affiliate's sister station. Football on the regular station, of course. Interestingly, my DVR didn't catch it, so I'm glad I did! Thanks to y'all for giving me the heads up about the football situation.
  16. Yeah, I felt a little stupid for missing German Shepherd.
  17. This is not my week, either! I missed FJ yet again -- I really had no clue whatsoever, and haven't even heard of that society. Oh well. And the only TS I got were Connecticut and bridge.
  18. I learned to swear in college. I try not to in front of people who don't like it (like my mother!), and I've altered a few ("Son of a businessman!"), but there's really only one I don't like. I read a fair amount of Brit Lit, where that particular one is used liberally, so I've gotten accustomed to reading it (and I'll use it when I play Boggle, too), but I prefer not to hear or say it. It starts with a C. I seem to be peeve-free today. Possibly because it was a half-day at work, and I don't have to go back until Monday. But I feel confident that the peeve-free state won't last.
  19. FINALLY got to see this last night. The local mega-plex didn't get it at all, so I had to wait until it came to the art-house theater. I liked it a lot, starting with the name of the town -- Ennui sur Blasé. It really was the most Wes Anderson-y Wes Anderson movie, wasn't it? I loved the animated car chase scene. I think the Timothee Chalamet bit was my least favorite, although it constantly cracked me up that even if they didn't all speak the same language all the time, they all understood each other all the time. The subtitles did go by quickly, but I adjusted and managed. I feel like I need to see it again, though. I'm pretty sure I missed a lot that was going on in the background, particularly during Owen Wilson's part.
  20. I also said Amsterdam for FJ last night. Somewhere non-European never occurred to me. For TS, I only got beehive, Missouri, and mitral. Someone upthread thanked Spencer Tracy for Father Flanagan, but I have to blame Spencer because all I could think was Spencer Tracy and couldn't get the real person's name to come to me! Incidentally, "yurt" is the Russian word for that dwelling. The Mongolian word is "ger".
