I thought this episode was a nice change of pace for AoS. Elizabeth Henstridge did an amazing acting job. I liked her portrayal of Jemma's rollercoaster of emotions throughout the episode. I liked the mystery of the identity of "it". Despite initial reservations, I even liked Will. Even though the episode focused on Jemma and no one else in the regular cast appeared (except for Fitz at the end), I didn't miss them in this episode. The look and tone of the episode were different. I wasn't bored during the hour. I was invested in Jemma's survival and liked her ingenuity and determination when she was on her own. I just wonder if there's a twist coming and it turns out that Will killed those other astronauts. Maybe "it" is one of the other astronauts. Or maybe it was Will chasing Jemma with the gun when she was rescued and she lied because she has a secret agenda for going back. If I had to nitpick, I'd say that Jemma - and Will, for that matter - didn't look thin enough for people who were surviving on alien fish. NASA may have provided food for one year, but 14 years? Also, what are the odds that Jemma gets sucked through a portal onto another planet, and the only other survivor is a hunky, age-appropriate, attractive guy? (It reminded me of that Julia Roberts movie where an abused wife fakes her own death and hides in a small town, where she rents a house - and her neighbor just happens to be an attractive young single guy.) However, upon second thought, it's not that far-fetched. They made the character a NASA astronaut from 2001, so that increases the likelihood that it's going to be an American male, who's fit and athletic, and not too old. I don't understand that. I thought that parts of the classic hero journey (according to Joseph Campbell) involved a mentor who helped the hero find his destiny and allies who helped the hero complete his journey. From what I understand, a lot of classic superheros have girlfriends and friends/allies.

The more I think about it... why should Kara be clumsy at all? She should have excellent reflexes and great eye-hand coordination. Even if she's hiding her superpowers, that shouldn't change. Clark's clumsiness is pretend. Kara's clumsiness is supposedly a part of her character's adorableness.

I loved last night's AoS. (Difficult to believe it's the same show as in its season 1.) I thought EH did an amazing acting job. It was also nice to see Dillon Casey again (he played Sean Pierce on Nikita).

From Oliver's thread... I swear I remember reading a spoiler earlier this year where the EPs said something about how this season's Big Bad, Damien Darhk, was different and that Oliver would have to use his brains - not his brawn - to defeat him. I can't find that quote now (I think it predated SDCC, which is when I started collecting S4 spoilers). Does anyone else remember this? It would be consistent with more recent spoilers from NM where he talks about how Oliver and DD will play a cat-and-mouse game, how Oliver will find out things about DD's personal life and use them against him, and how they'll each take things from each other.

I actually don't think Felicity and Kara are all that alike. Also, Felicity's dorky cuteness comes across as natural and innate, while Kara's dorky cuteness seemed forced at times in the pilot episode (imo).

Laurel doesn't ask, she makes demands. So more likely scenario: Laurel: "Oliver, help me fix this now!" I think that's the show's default stance to show someone is Strong and Independent and Equal to Oliver on TA. The new Arrowcave was built with help from Cisco and Star Labs. So I picture Cisco hooking up the computer equipment, Oliver hammering away (using secret construction skills learned while 'on the island'), and Barry flashing around to move things into place with his superspeedy-enhanced strength.

I found the Supergirl pilot a little disappointing, but I'm still rooting for the show to succeed. I think they went overboard with trying to show how cute! and adorable! Kara is, and her breathlessly exuberant way of talking got a little annoying after awhile. Calista Flockhart's Cat Grant was almost a caricature and seemed to belong on another show. The show was clearly modeled after The Flash and, like The Flash, while I enjoyed it overall, I don't think it's going to be must-see TV for me. However, one episode isn't enough to tell definitively. (I didn't like season 1 of Agents of SHIELD and now I love that show.) Character nit-pick: When Kara is in her Supergirl costume and fighting the bad guys, her personality changes and becomes more self-assured, in contrast to her nerdy, awkward Kara persona. This type of change in personality works for Superman because the nerdy, bumbling Clark Kent is a fake persona that he adopts to hide his true identity. However, Kara is her true identity. so her personality should not change just because she puts on a costume. I hope they make her character more consistent in the future. Plot nit-pick: Why is it that when the superhero is female, the Big Baddie is also female? They did the same thing in the 1984 Supergirl movie.

Audrey Marie Anderson was on Minority Report last night. I almost didn't recognize her. She played the mom of a young girl who was the victim seen in the precog's vision that the team wants to save.
