This is a really interesting WSJ article - despite the headline, there's some behind-the-scenes stuff on all of his shows (including Arrow) and a lot of info about GB himself, but I especially like the parts that mention GB's emphasis on heart and emotion in his storytelling (recommend reading the entire article)... The show is called Castle so theoretically anyone could die on that show except Castle - though killing Beckett would be spitting in the face of fans who have invested 8 years in the Castle & Beckett relationship. Personally, I think that show has run its course and should end.

IIRC, the ratings for S3 overall were higher and the ratings for the S4 premiere (401) were higher than previous season premieres. Throughout this time period, Oliver loved only Felicity and then they were together (in fact Olicity was heavily promoted prior to 401 airing). So if you're going to blame anything Arrow-related for the ratings drop since 401, maybe blame the gloomy flashforward gravesite scene.

I believe that award is supposed to be from Lance's past - maybe he worked for the Fresno PD before he moved to Starling City and joined the Starling City PD.
