I guess we're headed to yet another case of Bury Your Gays. I was hoping for better from this show.

I would have liked to see more of it in the movie, but those scenes are REALLY dull. It also sucks in the sense that it gave Padme more to do that wasn't being pregnant and crying about how Anakin was breaking her heart. "So this is how liberty dies..." is by far her best moment in the entire trilogy. The thing that really gets me is that Sith is the only of the three that actually leans into the fact that the prequels are a slow-motion tragedy. More of that, and I think people would talk about the stuff in each of them that's actually good.

"Farder" is the Frisian word for "sailing," which makes sense as a title of respect/nobility for a culture that primarily lives on the water. Texel is also part of the Frisian Islands off the coast of the Netherlands.

There were a few scenes that were filmed and ultimately cut of Padme, Bail Organa, Mon Mothma (played by the same actress who would eventually play her in Rogue One) and a few other senators doing something similar. Unfortunately, they were better in concepts than execution.

It's really surprised me that in a lot of ways, Ma Costa has made the strongest impression on me out of almost all of the characters. The "go be with Ratter" scene just gutted me. While I did have a reaction similar to Serafina and Farder Coram together, it wasn't nearly as strong.

I had avoided this trailer on general principle, but allowed myself to look at it and...god help me, it's actually really charming.

I think he's perfectly fine when given the chance. No one could have sold that Anakin/Padme nonsense. Contrast with Revenge of the Sith, he has a lot of good scenes...that aren't with Padme. The opera scene, from a performance perspective, is one of the best of the entire franchise, and the scene where Anakin and Obi-Wan say goodbye to each other really sells the tragedy of what the audience knows is about to happen. I think a lot of that is due to Tom Stoppard having been the one who actually wrote the script, and I think Lucas also had Carrie take a pass at it. It's just better material.

If the same person also did the arrangement for Rise of Skywalker's version of the Star Wars theme and Circle of Life in the Lion King trailer, he or she needs a raise.

Sandler is just lazy and uses Happy Madison to subsidize vacations for himself and his friends. When he wants to work for it, as he did in Punch-Drunk Love, he's actually pretty good.

Forgot another favorite, the theme to Metal Gear Solid 3. It's great because it works as both a straight-up Bond homage AND a parody simultaneously.

The scene of the two of them talking in Buck's kitchen made me turn to my husband and say "This is for sure the setup for a gay porn."

I wonder if part of that is intentional, though. One of the things that I find so effective is that once Lyra gets to Asriel in the North, we find out the story we've been reading isn't the story we think we've been reading, but it still makes sense when you look back on the plot. -
LMM won me over from the first season. And "She stole my bacon!" I think I may like Hester more than Pan.

I've never had a particularly strong reaction to Ronda Rousey other than "Oh, it's her again." The "I don't have a cat" scene was the first time where I thought she was actively goddamn terrible.

I've found the "...Begins" episodes to largely be a mixed bag (really liked Hen's and and loved Chim's, and completely hated both of the Bobby ones), and this fell square in the middle. I liked the actress playing Young Athena (and enjoyed that they subverted the established notion that 9-1-1 flashback partners/bosses are horrible bigots), but I didn't think they did a good job matching someone who looked like Angela Bassett. On the other hand, they nailed finding a young match for Claudia Christian.

All I can say is that "You served us cornbread with mashed potatoes and a dead woman on top" is one of the funniest things I've heard in a long, long time. I almost felt like it was a fix, but I thought dividing the prize money between the other two was a nice, surprising touch. I was expecting him to donate it to charity.
