Universal Removes Cats from Awards Consideration. I think that had informally happened the day it was released.

The ship they're on is the Benetar, the ship that the Guardians use and was then left on Titan after they were dusted. Thanos left for Wakanda after getting the Time stone from Strange. After the Snap, he went to his farm and destroyed the stones.

I'm sure the She-Hulk, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel series are going to at least be 10 episodes. As for the rest, I would take it with the biggest grain of salt you can find.

If they wanted a team movie that was focused on Harley, I'd have been the first person in line for Gotham City Sirens.
-
I didn't think it was possible for me to be less into this movie, but here we are.

Part of me was morbidly curious and might want to go on Christmas just for a laugh, but my husband loathes musicals, and this is a movie best experienced in a group.
-
Did they ever actually do those reshoots, or did they just decide to release what they had?

This thread has been merged with the Sugar Rush Christmas thread. Enjoy the discussion of Hunter and his teeth.

In the opera scene, Palpatine tells Anakin how Darth Plagueis could manipulate midichlorians, create life, and reverse death. We also see Shmi tell Qui-Gon that Anakin didn't have a father. That always seemed like pretty clear subtext to me.
-
Did he want to kill her, though? It seemed more like he wanted to possess her.
-
They hint very strongly that Palpatine was the one who created Anakin. It doesn't seem that far-fetched to me in the universe in which we find ourselves that he could have created a child of his own in the same way.

It was like the podrace, but an event I'd want to attend.

Hot Take: As Revenge of the Sith is by far the best of the prequels, Rise of Skywalker is the best of the sequels. That said, I really liked Last Jedi when I saw it in the theater, but I haven't actually revisited it since, just because the almost utter lack of nuance in most online discussions made analyzing it seem pointless. Lukewarm Take: Having to sit through twenty minutes of commercials even before the trailers at any Regal Cinemas-owned theater makes me feel bad for Maria Menounos.

The changes from the Legends version of the SWEU don't ordinarily bother me, but I did find myself vaguely disappointed at the use of Exegol as the homeworld of the Sith, as opposed to Korriban. I guess after we had a desert planet in Pasaana (and brief visits to Jakku and Tatooine), they didn't want to use another arid world, but there's a lot of rich stuff built up about it already. As an aside, I'm a bit shocked by the number of SW planets that Chrome's spellcheck recognizes.

While I have no doubt audiences under the influence of just about any kind of substance are exactly the people to appreciate it, I'm wondering if that's true. Especially if they'd had to do a second rush job on the special effects after everyone noticed the lag between the movements of the actors' bodies and their faces. No matter what, the eventual longform article and oral history are going to be fascinating in about ten years.

Was anyone else surprised that Ben wasn't with Luke and Leia when they appeared to encourage Rey to take the Skywalker name?
-
I actually really liked it, and I wasn't expecting to. I would have preferred it without the kiss. I just would have liked it better if Ben was allowed by be saved because of the love between himself and his parents, instead of throwing romantic love on the pile as well. I should probably be embarrassed by this, but I'm not: I actually got a little verklempt at "They're not a navy. They're just...people."

They seem to have looted Beru's blue milk dispenser, at least. One moment of fanservice that I REALLY dug was the Jedi calling out to Rey. I mean, one would expect Luke, Leia, Obi-Wan, etc, but I really loved that they included so many of the voice actors from Clone Wars and Rebels.
-
Perhaps it was just lowered expectations, but I enjoyed it a lot. I actually wasn't that enthused walking in, and I realized as I was sitting through about twenty minutes of trailers that I'm burned out by all of the toxicity of the last two years. And no, I'm not specifically referring to the people bullying Kelly Marie Tran off of Twitter (although fuck them), but just all of the back and forth. But in the end, I had a good time.

I liked that Michael Burnham Sr was wearing the same uniform that George Kirk and the crew of the Kelvin wore at the beginning of Star Trek.

I was standing in the security line at the airport this morning, and it occurs to me that between cell phones and the massive production that wrangling that many kids through the TSA, there's about no chance that Home Alone could be made today.

Despite the cuteness bomb of Baby Yoda, The Mandalorian has been a lot darker than I would have expected. I mean, I doubt they would go Punisher dark, but they also have Hulu if they want to do more mature programming.

God, the use of the John Williams score on Earth-96... In terms of pure delight, nothing was better than seeing that Smallville Clark and Lois ended up with such a happy life.
