  1. I'm almost embarrassed to admit it, but I've enjoyed the last couple of days immensely. The Anna/Robert/Alex stuff has shades of old-school GH action/adventure from the 70s/80s heyday. Also (not sure this needs a spoiler bar) - am I to understand that Frisco has re-activated Dante to protect Maxie from Peter? If so, I'm shame-faced to just be figuring that out.๐Ÿคจ
  2. This show had so much promise starting out, but now it's sinking like a stone. Hate to think that Roseanne's going to have the last laugh.
  3. You're absolutely right, but compromise isn't really Bonnie's style.
  4. Yep, I think Anna Faris might have felt marginalized or under-used as a new character began eating up more and more screen time. As another poster noted, I think the "fear fire" scene was the writers' clever way of setting up each character's story arc for most of this season, which was really cool. I think Marjorie's health scare will be a minor blip - over the years the writers have always made creative use of that character. I also have a sneaking suspicion that AF may pop-up from time-to-time (assuming there's no bad feelings on anyone's part). She's a gifted comedic actress that has a lot to offer when given the right material to work with.
  5. I enjoyed this episode a lot. Mom has pretty much been hit-or-miss for me for the last two years, as it seemed to have become the "Bonnie and Tammy Show," with too much Tammy, IMO. Plus, the writers either didn't seem to be interested in writing for the Christie character or didn't know what to do with her. But if tonight was any indication, the show runners have figured out how best to use Kristen Johnston's talents, Tammy's kinetic goofiness certainly seemed to be dampened a lot, and she had a touching story. With a strong, veteran ensemble cast, and good writers, I think Mom will easily survive AF's departure. But as another poster said, enough of Marjorie getting sick, we've been down that road before. I'm also hoping we get more of Wendy this season as well.
  6. Perkie, I may have missed the online part - was dividing my attention between this episode and election coverage. They could be having cybersex though (ugh). Maybe she's a more pleasant person online?
  7. How bad must a man's marriage be that Harris is some kind of escape? In many regards she's just a younger version of Darlene with a slighter better attitude. From his perspective it can only be about the sex. One of the grossest things I've ever seen on TV. I gag even when I see folks brush their teeth in a public bathroom.
  8. A former colleague of mine is good friends with Anna Maria Horsford, it was nice to see her on screen again. But what was with the odd accent? Was she going for Caribbean and somehow missed the mark? Overall, an ok episode. Seems like the writers are reading our boards, re: Darlene's elitist attitude and how insufferable Harris is. Recently read that last week's episode had a series-low rating. I wonder if the realistic topics of the virus, unemployment, politics, and eviction are a little bit more than stressed-out America can deal with right now.
  9. Y'know, these daily summaries are more entertaining than the actual show. And for once Cyrus does something more than creepily jibber-jabber.
  10. In all fairness to Mikey, that's pretty much the same expression I have whenever Boobies make an appearance.๐Ÿ˜‰
  11. I had that problem too, except that I seemed to miss every fourth or fifth word. Seems to be the history of British singers going all the way back to the Beatles. When they sing, you can make out every single word, but during interviews it's like, "what the heck are they saying?"
  12. That was one of the few times we ever saw Roseanne show any kind of humility. She really needed that job and was clearly intimidated by the prospect of working in an office. The employer (played by Madge Sinclair IIRC) was ready to hire Roseanne on the spot if not for the lack of PC skills. After that, most people would have run to the local public library to take some free PC classes or read a book about basic computer operation. But as far as we know Roseanne never did. Just another case of a Conner shooting themselves in the foot.
  13. Rant heard! There was also Jessie and Angie on AMC, played by two superb AA actors. IIRC, at least on GH they had Bryan become a lawyer. Funny thing is, I remember Bryan and Claudia being Luke & Laura's best friends, then just disappearing.
  14. I had many of the same thoughts, but hadn't posted them. To a great degree Roseanne and Darlene are/were their own worst enemies. Nothing about either is/was so endearing that other people should feel compelled to put up with their bad attitudes. Even Ben half-joked about Darlene's sour face. At least the adult version of Becky has cultivated some degree of people skills (as evidenced by wearing her mother's old jacket at the job interview), so she has a small measure of hope. Re: the Hair Salon - Roseanne seemed relatively happy there, but the Owner was elitist and always commented on Dan and Roseanne's weight issues, which was borderline inappropriate, IMO. Kind of depressing, isn't it? As a group, other than DJ, this family is worse off than when the original series ended. And now there's a next generation of grandchildren for the poverty and misery to trickle down to.
  15. I don't usually watch reality shows, but you've piqued my interest. ๐Ÿ™‚
  16. I think it's sweet how she is genuinely thankful to the show for opening up her career in America (her view) and is very loyal to the show. You don't see that in a lot of performers. I believe that in real life Adele is probably very shy and likely has mild stage fright, like Carly Simon had back in the day. Could be that the swearing is a coping mechanism, she doesn't seem to do it during one-to-one interviews. She does seem genuinely sweet and humble, though. So true. I think she's a good singer but certainly not one of the best I've ever heard, so I've never understood all the worship. I've read that Adele has what people in the music industry call "that thing" in her voice; it's an element you really can't really qualify or quantify that only the greats (like Aretha Franklin or Barbara Streisand among female vocalists) have. For me, I don't think we can be sure until she starts taking some musical chances, like making a Country or Jazz CD.
  17. What's bothering me very quickly is the righteous, moral indignation bubbling up in the Twitter-verse about the Africa sketch. I'm as left-leaning as they come, but give me a break. We intelligent adults (of all colors), know this to be true - some White women (divorced or not) travel to Africa and parts of the Caribbean primarily for one reason. Doesn't make it right or wrong, but we can have a little fun with it, yes?
  18. Interesting episode overall, an improvement over last week's dumpster fire. Hadn't seen Adele in so long, I had almost forgotten how awesome she is. I always saw her as beautiful, but now she almost looks like a Bond Girl. Surprisingly great comedic acting chops (other than breaking in the Africa sketch, which I suspect had meaning to her). To me her cracking up during the Africa sketch (which some found offensive, although it's based in reality) was the highlight of this episode. I could see Adele carrying a sitcom much like Reba did. Didn't know much about H.E.R., but she was good, nice 90s style Neo-Soul.
  19. I'm not a regular watcher. But one day I was too lazy to change channels after Y&R went off and came across this craziness. Has anyone else noticed that the Hope Doll also bears a slight resemblance to a young Cybil Shepard?
  20. There was never a chance Carly jr. was going to lose.
  21. I watched the Season Premiere of The Goldbergs and noticed that Jeff did look somewhat smaller, but didn't notice the skin tone. It might be that whatever dietary changes the actors are making might not be the healthiest and it's showing in their skin.
  22. When Carly advocated for Nell to be buried at Potter's Field a week or so ago, it struck a raw nerve for me. I've been to the RL Potter's Field in NYC (it's on Hart Island off the Bronx), and have a Cousin-in-Law buried there. It's off-limits to the general public except by special permission and you wouldn't want to bury a pet Hamster there. Here's a historical link for anyone interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hart_Island_(Bronx)
  23. This may sound silly, but the sausage thing always made me nervous, part of me worried that JG might have swallowed the whole damn thing by accident and then needed the Heimlich maneuver. Although it is such a Dan Conner move, lol.
  24. Kyle/Lola and Kyle/Dummer are just variations of "blech" to me. Besides being cute-ish and driven occupationally, Lola's got very little going for her, she's as joyless a character as has ever been seen on daytime.
