I Want My MBTV replied to jewel21's topic in B Positive
I generally try not to comment on people's looks but the actor that plays Drew is creepy looking and making him some sex object is just making me more creeped out by him. Also, I don't know why Adrianna (and Drew) both acted like it was only Drew's decision (Drew acted the same way when he was talking to the guy from the dialysis clinic) and what Gina wants is irrelevant. Gina has never once given the impression that she has any feelings other than friendship for Drew. I hate this whole storyline. It's stupid and did I mention - creepy?! -
After last week's episode I felt this one was a bit of a let down. Maybe because Gabby and Brittany are two of my least favorite characters. I feel bad for everything Gabby went through and yes the teacher deserved more than being fired and I'm sure Gabby wasn't his first victim. But sadly, Gabby just bores me. Then there's one note Brittany who for some reason I thought was only dating Reggie in her head. Until Reggie broke up with her I thought he was basically like "I don't know what's up with this girl". I don't really want him in a relationship with Gabby either. It's way too soon and I like them as friends. I was hoping Julia was going to hit that with the sound dude. When he was adjusting her mic I felt chemistry. Do her daughter's not know what their dad did and that he took all the money? The way they were treating their mom was like she was the one who ruined their family or something. The inevitable with Mike and Paula. I like Mike but I'm sorry it's actually not Paula's fault you got fired nor was it her job to check on you. She was hired by your company to say where there was redundancy and cost savings and that's what she did. People were going to lose their jobs no matter who said where the cuts were and it's sad but companies don't care how long you've worked for them or anything about you (with rare exception) they just care about the bottom line, their bonuses and the stock. I wish they hadn't made Paula the "villain" then all wimpy then give her cancer so she can be sympathetic. My favorite scene in the whole episode was when Gabby then Nick were going at the predator teacher in the teacher's lounge and the whole time there's another teacher at the microwave just heating his lunch like "I've only got 15 minutes I'm going to heat his hot pocket you can carry on" ,

I Want My MBTV replied to JTMacc99's topic in Shark Tank
I have to admit when I saw last week that Peter Jones was going to be a guest Shark I got a little too excited (sad sad life I lead :-)) I was annoyed though in his introduction the voice over said that he's from Dragon's Den "The UKs version of Shark Tank" to me that it made it sound like Dragon's Den was a version of Shark Tank (like a knock off that came after) when Dragon's Den was on at least 4 years prior to Shark Tank and when I was able to get it on my tv I watched it all the time. Liked Peter there as well. I don't know if that show as changed as much over the years as Shark Tank has but I always liked it much better. I liked last weeks guest Shark too but I liked her a lot better before they said her business partners were Kim and Kourtney Kardashian. Then...... not as much. -
I love this show in all it's cheesy glory. I wish more people were watching. I hope we at least get a full season. I'm not sure where it would go after that but I'm enjoying the current ride.

This was so depressing. I know the American justice system generally goes too far in the other direction but I couldn't believe that Meilon was allowed to keep getting back on the street time and time again and it looks like after this he could potentially be out in 22 years?! Then Patron gets a whole 8 years for raping 4 (that we know of I'm sure there were more). And of course the bio-father getting the girls when he first got out of prison (after what 1 year?) for raping and nearly murdering their mother. I'm certainly not saying all men are monsters but the ones that are and that live in France I'm sure aren't afraid at all to commit any heinous crimes against woman since you apparently get about the same punishment as stealing a loaf of bread. My mind boggles. I didn't know of this case before watching this. Does anyone know if anything has changed as far as how sex offenders are handled? It was nice but also heartbreaking seeing the twins so happy at the end when they were with all their friends and Laeticia was doing karaoke. Those poor girls were just failed at every level by every adult they ever encountered.

S02.E03: Bottle Service, $800 Plus Tip (25% Suggested)
I Want My MBTV replied to helenamonster's topic in Home Economics
This was probably one of my favorite episodes. It was nice to see them all having fun and not complaining about the VIP area at the club supporting capitalism or gender roles or whatever thing Sarah is angry about at the moment. Having Tom cut loose was great and having Sarah and Denise see that their grass is greener was also nice. Kia Sorrento! LMAO at that one. "Kia" never corrected them. Hope she got a 5 star rating and a good tip! Oh and I love Lupe - we don't see a lot of her but she's my favorite character and I love how she just goes with it like the mask and axe body spray! The kids always have a great time with her. It's so funny because the last thing I saw the actress in before this was the tv show Get Shorty. That character you would not want to leave your kids with. Like. Ever. -
Same and it has nothing to do with them being same sex. I would have the same issues if a hetero couple used a sperm donner then included him in their lives then one day said "no, you're around too much and getting too close we don't like that". I actually felt sorry for Tom and that they kept referring to him as "sperm donor". I get that's how it started and there are certainly many cases where that's all someone is but they reached out to Tom and wanted contact and kept inviting him around and spending so much time. To me they're the ones that changed the terms of the original agreement not Tom. Then how they so easily cut out that long time friend of theirs that had helped them because she was "in Tom's camp". I also think they did play a role in Ry being so angry at Tom even if it wasn't intentional. I kind of figured since we weren't seeing Tom in present day that he wasn't around any more but I didn't think he would have been sick so early after the court hearing. That made me feel even worse for him the way he kept being referred to as evil and had almost no one speaking on his behalf. I don't know if he has any living relatives but if he does I'd think they'd take issue.
-
I don't think Tom pays much attention to things that don't have to do with or effect him. He's very childish and selfish (and always looking to be offended) IMO.
-
same and while I understand people hate Novak I like that he brought Goran onto his team and I missed seeing Goran in the box. He's another one from that time period that aged really well.

I Want My MBTV replied to Trini's topic in Fantasy Island (2021)
Right there with you. I like Rosalyn Sanchez and wanted to like this Fantasy Island but it's just not doing anything for me. I keep feeling like something is missing. On the OG I remember there was like a Twilight Zone sort of feeling to the fantasies where these are all pretty run of the mill. I liked the first episode well enough but the rest zzzzz . I'm also finding Ruby boring and don't know what her role on the island is supposed to be or why she's even there. She doesn't add much. That's nothing against the actress just the character. I hope things pick up. -
So far (IMHO) this was the best episode of the season. There wasn't too much relationship drama and was more focused on the actual business. All three owners seemed pleasant enough as well though the the 10% owner and the non-owner kid were my favorite. I did wonder (like others) about the the brother's former debt and being on a show being shown given money. Speaking of money how many times did Marcus say "this is the last check I'm writing" only to write another one 5 minutes later. I also wondered about the division of responsibilities - where was the sister? Did she have another job? Out trying to get sales? I did like the designs now that I've been WFH for what seems like forever from a one bedroom apartment I coveted that one that you could hide the work space behind. I was a little annoyed when Marcus said of the kids room "if this was a girl's room..." there was nothing about that room that I read as gender specific. There was a strange thing I noticed during the "re-opening" and that was that no one else was acknowledged. When Marcus first walks in you very clearly hear a woman say "nice to meet you" and it's like she's invisible. A few minutes later you see a woman trip (same woman?) and again no acknowledgement. I was wondering if that was their mother since they only mentioned their father. I did think it was strange either way that Marcus didn't talk to anyone else there asking what they thought unless I blanked and missed that. The only thing I didn't like this episode was the MTV videos every 5-10 minutes. Between that, the paint splatter shirt last week and the Givenchy shirt this week I think someone may be having a mid-life crisis.

Chopped 2021: You Could Have Sexed That Up a Little Bit
I Want My MBTV replied to Maverick's topic in Chopped
Man, the fire puns are already tiresome. I thought the chef that won his food looked good but I wanted the math teacher guy to win. Though I was happy he lasted longer then the chef who said he should be eliminated because he wasn't a professional chef. Well, somehow the not professional chef cooked the meat the best in that round so don't let the door hit you. I don't get all the talk of food being sexy and it squicks me out. In all my many years of eating food never have I looked at a plate and thought "boy, that looks sexy". And the winner guy kept talking about making love to the fire?! I almost stopped watching right then. I don't want to think about anyone making love when they're cooking food not to mention dumbass that if you tried to make love to the fire you'd be dead. I know they have to do these specials and what not to mix things up and hopefully get new viewers but I do not care for the gimmicks. -
This was a total WTF episode. Thomas was a POS. How the heck was he pulling all these women right and left? It was like he was some sort of cult leader. The new "girlfriend" was totally just there for drama and to push Lila's buttons and make her look bad on behalf of poor sensitive soul Thomas. Does she live in Oregon now too? I wanted to smack her smug little face. I didn't understand why the management "candidate" was in all the meetings and doing work when she didn't even have a job. I felt sorry for that one employee who never spoke. I hope he left and got another job elsewhere. The only reason why that place stayed in business was the location. I don't know how Thomas thought he could franchise that but then if he could find more suckers in love with him to give him money who knows. I didn't understand how Marcus just came up with this number of $140K for Lila and she was like "that's great I'm happy" - did she get the money? from where did it come? If it was that easy to buy her out why hadn't Thomas done it already? other than he sucked? And sorry Lila was still in love with him. She wasn't trying to buy a job she was trying to buy a relationship. She needs to invest whatever money she has left in therapy. I'm sure a lot of good came out of the PPP loans for places that deserved it but you always see where they went to people like this bozo who can't even be bothered to show up. All the episode did was make me angry.

Battle Of The Brothers - General Discussion
I Want My MBTV replied to Door County Cherry's topic in Battle Of The Brothers
It was the same for both chef's as the negative comments Larry received were about the conception of the dish and it being "safe" which was totally on Bryan and I'd say a fairly classic knock on Bryan. I thought for sure Larry's strategy was going to backfire on him and he was going to get eliminated. I don't like that the winning team still has to send someone to the elimination round. It seems it should be two people from the loosing team. I don't I'll watch another episode before I write this off. The one thing though I found especially interesting was that the prize is to run one of Voltagio's restaurants - I could have sworn I head most of their restaurants were closed, closing or bankrupt (and that was pre-pandemic). If that's not true or they somehow managed to turn it around that's great. -
S08.E01: The Good Ones / S08.E02: The Lake House
I Want My MBTV replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Brooklyn Nine-Nine
That was literally all I wanted to know! The whole ep I kept saying "but where is Cheddar?" "why will no one mention Cheddar?" "Cheddar better be okay". I love and will greatly miss this quirky little show. I like all the characters and actors so much. I remember when it very first started I wasn't sure about it, especially Andy Samberg but he really improved and the whole 'gang' just clicks. Andre Braugher will always be my favorite - in this and everything. -
Everyone in the family seemed a bit passive and no one really wanted to take any leadership. It's a shame because it sounded like a really great business and the demand is there. What I didn't understand was Marcus kept saying to trade debt for equity with the people they owed money to but he never said how much equity so I'm wondering what if any percentage of the company they had left after all that?
-
I realize it'll be at a different locale but I really hope they find someway to keep Belinda. She's the only character I'd want to see again. Maybe Quinn to see what happened to him but no on else.

I randomly was sitting next to him on a flight back from London several years ago and the business class seats were designed so you had to climb over the other person every time you wanted to get up or back to your seat. So for me it's Moby sit the fuck down :-) I haven't watched this doc yet but now I'm scared to. It's one thing to kind of know it happened but another thing to see it happen. I love music but I hate crowds and the heat so it's unlikely I'd ever go to something like this but people should be able to without this kind of complete BS. Makes that cheese sandwich and Frye look great by comparison!

Seriously! Just when I was starting to think better of Craig and that there might actually be hope for him, Ren and the baby coming out of this okay. He was never the sharpest tool in the shed but I think that's kind of helped him not end up with the psychological issues the others have. Also, it's been so long between last season and this season about the only thing I remember from last season is fast forwarding through all the Old Adventures of Young Smurf so when the guy at the beach said Angela just died two days ago I was thinking "wait, didn't J kill her last season?" But I think he got her back on drugs but didn't technically kill her. So then I started trying to remember who J has killed and who Pope has killed (I don't think Craig or Deran have killed anyone) . For J I've got: Smurf, lawyer lady, that girl he was sleeping with that was related to the auto mechanic guy.... I feel like there's at least two more. Pope: Lena's mom, Baz's girlfriend(s)? I also couldn't remember if Pope killed Baz or had him killed or had nothing to do with it. You'd think I'd be able to keep my murders straight! I'm also a little disturbed that (unless I'm wrong) the only people they've killed are all women. No one's living situation makes any sense. Jay has that fancy condo yet is living at the house (to watch Pope?). Deran has the beach house but he chooses to sleep at the bar? Is that because the house reminds him too much of Adrian? Lastly, what is up with the say J dresses with the button to the top about to choke him and the jeans with the cuff?

I thought it was just me and I don't even have an explanation that I can articulate! Sometimes I'm watching something where I don't even know the athletes (i.e. I was watching beach volley ball with teams I hadn't seen previously) and it's like a reflex I just route against the American team. I live in LA and I do it with our sports teams too! I keep it on the DL and will pretend I'm routing for the Lakers, Dodgers, etc. do my friends and co-workers but I'm so happy when they loose. I have issues. Back on topic though - I was routing for the American team in the mens springboard synchro diving. Of course I found one really attractive so......

Chopped 2021: You Could Have Sexed That Up a Little Bit
I Want My MBTV replied to Maverick's topic in Chopped
I liked Jordan as a judge but otherwise this episode was complete BS. I've never seen them describe such basic food as creative. Alix's first two dishes were so obvious and then they're like "oh you cut your pretzel in half and used it as bun and made a hot dog out of the hot dog in the basket - wow!" - then she serves dried chicken fingers with ketchup! Not even homemade ketchup but squeezed straight from the bottle??? How is this? They also called her broccolini that looked like straight up sautéed broccolini creative? I normally can overlook a lot of the judging especially since I'm not there tasting the food but this seemed beyond the pale to the point where I'm wondering if they're going to give Alix a show. She did have that very tv personality. -
The Beast Must Die - General Discussion
I Want My MBTV replied to Quilt Fairy's topic in The Beast Must Die
it certainly is slow. I also know I'm supposed to feel sympathy for Frances and I do but I don't like her. Like at all. I don't understand what she thinks is going to happen. Does she think she's going to come across a diary somewhere in the house "dear diary I was out driving too fast and hit something that could have been a small child...." I don't get the family either and Lena must be dense to be like "hey lady I just met that seems to be obsessed with me and might have drugged me but hey I need a friend so come stay at my creepy BILs house with me". As for the driver - it can't be George that just seems too obvious. There's been way too much time devoted to the son of late and we've seen he can go off the rails so that's where my money is. I just don't know that he realized he hit a child. I don't think George would cover for him but I could see the mom covering for him. I just need it move along show. -
Chopped 2021: You Could Have Sexed That Up a Little Bit
I Want My MBTV replied to Maverick's topic in Chopped
No, I knew he said "Lydia" but I couldn't recall her last name. Had to look it up - Lydia Shire. I wasn't super impressed with him but I didn't get the reason for his being Chopped that he didn't get the proteins smaller. Muneet didn't say that that effected the cooking so every time she mentioned it I kept thinking "do you not have a knife?". Eric was my favorite of this final bunch but he had too many mistakes in the entrée round so understood why he was chopped. I knew as soon as that one chef used canned tomatoes it was going to be an issue. It's like if you're on Chopped things to not use unless they're in the basket "canned tomatoes, truffle oil, red onions (if Scott is a judge)....." I only watched because there's not that much new programming but it was a disappointing series. I hate how in these series there's no prize when the chefs when the first round to make it to the finale. If you think about that the $50K prize while great for an individual is the exact amount of money Chopped would have been out if they had given each winner of their round the $10K. Anyway, if I never hear the name Alton or the word maniacal again I'll still have heard them each about a thousand times too many. -
Well that match was a roller coaster. I wish there was some way to mute the commentators but still hear the sounds of the game. I enjoy hearing the crowd, players, ball striking, etc. but find the commentators nearly universally annoying. There are a few I don't mind but they don't seem to be the ones that do most of the matches. One of the things I especially don't like is when the commentators start "awarding" games, sets, matches well before they're over. Heck they were basically giving Novak the calendar grand slam when we were only on our 2nd slam of the year and the match hadn't even started! No matter who you're rooting for it's just not right. If they're saying you're player is going to win you may think it's a jinx and if they're saying the other player is going to win it's disrespectful to the opponent. I don't know how many different times they switched who was winning this one before the 5th set. To conclude my rant I'll just say - if you do the sports for the local news, learn to say the players names! I mean like him or not Djokovic has been the #1 tennis player for some time and around for nearly 20 years. Learn to pronounce his name. That is your only job. I guess I should have been grateful that they even mentioned tennis during the sports part of the news.

I pretty much agree with what everyone has said about Osaka and how basically she didn't handle it well initially but if she needs a break I hope she gets one. It goes to show that no matter how perfect someone's life may seem you never really know what is going on with another person and fame and money isn't a guarantee of anything. I hope for her mental well being she also takes a break from social media as I really feel like that's worse for anyone's mental health then sitting down and asking some inane questions especially for someone that seems to be as loved by the press as Naomi is. On the other hand the questions are inane (I can barely watch the ones before and after the match) so I don't know what the benefit is but I know I've read the timing of them as to be as it is as the various foreign outlets have deadlines to meet. Sadly, it did become a bigger distraction. I was watching the Muguruza match yesterday and Mary Carillo (who I'm sorry but I can't stand) would not shut up about it. She kept saying how her phone was blowing up and how Kenin found out walking off the court after her win, etc. etc. Mind you Mary rarely talks about the actual match being played at the time so hopefully others will move on from this.
