  1. I co-sign on this entire post. It was both sad and funny when Jake's wife told Liv and Jake she wanted her husband back, because it was so clear even from her own narrative that she never had her husband in the first place. A man who refuses to share his life/past with you really isn't in a relationship with you. You just think you are in a relationship with him. This also applies if the partner in question is female. I don't know which reality was worse for Jake (and by extension, his wife) to live in -- The one where he faked happiness with his wife because he felt totally abandoned/betrayed by Olivia, but was in many ways dead inside and visibly faking to anyone who knew him; or the one where he hears Liv's explanation for her actions, he becomes rudderless and detaches from his wife, which leads to her downward spiral. Either option has Jake being cruel to her but for completely different reasons and with vastly different outcomes. Olivia remains awful. SHe knows Cyrus didn't orchestrate the crime he is in prison and likely to be executed for, but hey, freeing him doesn't fit her agenda, so screw him. However, since 'tis is not the first time we have seen this from her, I am not surprised. As in previous cases, it was other members of her team who pushed Olivia to do right and she ran with it and pretended she was a "Gladiator." Best line of the night was when Jake called Liv on who she is and told her she is nothing more than her father's daughter. IMO, she is worse than Rowan because she continues to lie to herself about being a gladiator.
  2. Robin is the absolute worst. She is a pathological liar at best and a sociopath at worst. As the episode unfolded,my first thought was why does Nate believe those kids are his, and then they actually put it out there. The sad part is that Nate didn't seem to get the paternity issue when he found out Robin screwed Carlos right before she met and screwed him.
  3. I know the after the first episode, I said the show would ultimately reveal that Tom is not Scottie's son. However, after watching this episode, I don't want that to happen. I want Tom to be her son and see how the show works towards her finding out the truth and how that impacts their relationship. While I agree with others that a problem is the connection to the dreadful The Blacklist, I also saw the opportunity as Princess Lucky said, for the emotional resonance that is lacking on TBL due to bad acting to be present and be a real driving force on this show. Add Terry O'Quinn to the mix every so often and you have the opportunity for the show runners to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat that is The Blacklist. I'm hoping the show does well because I already like all of the characters in Redemption where I actively dislike the vast majority of the characters on TBL. As for the case of the week. I never doubted that Kevin was a spy, just as I never doubt the real Americans who get caught in random foreign countries are spies. This is a reality of the world we live in.
  4. Exactly, who would hire them? I don't know about how things work in Nowalk land, but law students who are att eh bottom of their class, and who are constantly mentioned in connection with murders and othe crime would not be on the desirable hire list.
  5. This. The Connor apologists can always find a reason he is a poor, misunderstood victim, rather than the despicable person he has been shown to be, time and time again; yet Wes, Michaela, Annalise and pretty much anyone who isn't Connor or Oliver are the real problems.
  6. Not an unpopular opinion. I always liked Tom even when e was being sold as the villain and Lizzie as the hero. Perhaps actual acting skills tilted me towards him. I assumed that Tom would be revealed not to be Christopher for two reasons 1) Why are Red and the father (Terry O'Quinn) presumably so convinced that Tom is Christopher -- they could be being duped, or knowing Red's hatred of Tom, this is all some convoluted plot to get him away from Lizzie, for which I thank him because Lizzie is made of suck. 2) There is a reason the show is focusing on the creepy sexual vibe between Tom and Scottie, them being parent and child who will feel forever awkward around each other after the big reveal (Tom is already wielded out by what is going on and rightly so) isn't the reason. I liked it better than the Mothership. Does it need time to grow and find its footing, yes, but there is a ton of potential here. Now if they can just find a way to make Dembe a cast member on Redemption, the mothership can finally sink.
  7. Well, this is a show run by Shonda people and Frank does seem to view Annalise as his Mommy, right down to temper tantrum behavior (taking money to plant the bug when she Annalise's him); intense dislike for and hostility to Mommy's favorite (see his dislike of Wes which predates the Laurel thing); attempting to make himself look good at the expense of the favored child, which naturally backfires, because if favored child is hurt, Mommy will be furious (see killing Mahoney to make up for fall out from temper tantrum, but foolishly setting Wes up as the prime suspect): and desire for approval from Mommy at all cost (setting up Mahoney Jr. to clear Wes's name, offering to kill himself for her, confessing to a murder to try to get her off the hook; bowing down befor Annalise and begging to be taken back no matter what he has to do to please her). Would you really be shocked to the core if the show found a way to tell us that Annalise's difficulty with conceiving and carrying a child to term was some never mentioned sexual encounter (regardless of the nature of the encounter) that resulted in a pregnancy and a baby Annalise had to give away because she was too young to have her life side-lined by a child. The show will reveal that that child is Frank and either his father was white (thus explaining his lack of melanin) or saying he is what is referred to as a throwback child (a child whose racial appearance reflects that of an ancestor from way back). Nowalk and company will say that Annalise sensed this somehow and this is way she allowed Frank to remain in her life and didn't have her "investigator" kill Frank when he was asking her about it. After all, this is the show currently selling us on any number of completely ridiculous stories. You could be right about the discrepancies because well...show and ...plot and...retconning, but 1) Her calling Wes to the house was not that big a deal because he was frequently there when the others weren't just based on the nature of their connection. It was obviously accepted among the K5 that Wes was the favored child. Also, if she is looking to protect anyone Wes would be first not just because of this relationship, but because Wes is the one who actually killed Sam and with Connor being a whiney brat, as per his MO, and always making threats to turn everyone in, it would make sense that she would make sure Wes was taken are of first. 2) Remember her drunken stupor of that night where she decided to walk away from it all since her life was falling apart once again and the team was being investigated, yet again. She reaches out to Wes first, doesn't hear from him because he is with the police. She gets drunk, leaves the house because she has decided to walk away. She sobers up, calls the others and because the house is also her base of business, tells them to meet her there and heads back to the house herself. Oliver not knowing isn't a problem because a this point, Oliver doesn't know the K5 dirt and might not be privy to this knowledge since, if I'm not misremembering, Nate was the one to hip Annalise to the investigation.
  8. They told us why in the episode she called. She found out that The Who crew was under investigation and she wanted to given them the heads up.
  9. Is that good? I never liked the final pairings in the Potter series.
  10. I don't know if I'll stick with the show through Season 4. It's not just that they killed Wes with what appears to be no real game plan, motivation or plot, it's that I now can no longer even offer a passable level of support for Annalise. She loved Wes "like a son," but she not only threw him under the bus with the quickness, but she did it to save herself and that worthless piece of crap, Connor, who I personally wouldn't open a stick of gum for. By episode's end, I officially can't stand him or Oliver and the worst thing that can happen to either of them is to be saddled with the scummy awefullness that is the other. To make matters worse, Annalise actually allowed Frank, who had already sacrificed himself on the alter of Annalise to get on his knees and grovel before her. Lady, GTF over yourself. It's a sad day when Momma Mahoney comes across as the better mother. Naturally, by next season, Annalise will be back in full force at the university. In actuality, she should be an unemployable pariah, who is trying desperately to redeem herself. There should be no students who want to study at her feet, Annalise should be scraping herself up fro,m the legal and academic pits, but I doubt that will happen. Plot Points That May or May Not Be Revisited 1) So Meggy served no purpose on the show. 2) The same goes for Lauren Velez's character, who played the least effective spy eve, what was she able to tell Atwood that someone who walked past Annalise on the street one time didn't already know. 3) Are we ever going to know the University Board member who was plotting against Annalise, or was that another red herring. 4) Atwood gets to skate, no doubt the show will think it's is a brilliant idea to brin g her back at a later time, but I can tell you, it will not be, as I'm over her character. 5) Benito Martinez as the DA also needs to never be seen again. The show needs to stop propping Annalise by making every prosecutor the equivalent of human garbage. Let's see how the Annalise show plays when she is facing an opponent who is a good person, honestly trying to do their job. 6) Simon or whatever his name is needs to never be seen again either. He never worked as a character, and he will not be acceptable as a Wes substitute. Speaking of Simon, will we ever find out the real motive behind putting up the flyers because the motive he gave Annalise was some straight fragglenacklebull. Was this connected to the possibly dropped board member plot. Yeah, can you tell that this finale has left me more than a little bitter. However, in the face of my bitterness, I still want Asher and Michaela to be the endgame couple, and I want the triumvirate of Annalise/Bonnie/Frank to be standing tall and united when the series ultimately ends.
  11. So Dembe poisoned Red, was he finally fed up with the Lizzie nonsense too. And NBC and their false advertising that made it look like you had to watch Blacklist to get how Redemption begins. Not a good look network.
  12. Charles would have been in his teens when he used his position of power to rape Wes' mother. How is that implausible?
  13. So you're saying that Annalise had a relationship with Mrs. Mahoney's son -- that need for Annalise to be Wes's mother even when she clearly states she was not his mother runs deep. Your speculation also means that Annalise must have slept with both Mahoney men since she thought Daddy Mahoney, not Rapey Murderer Mahoney was the daddy. But even that wouldn't explain Annalise's complete shock at the reveal, so did she not remember she slept with Mahoney Jr. And the police department and the ME's office. Their massive corruption makes Annalise's shenanigans on behalf of her clients seem sane.
  14. I loved the episode and the commentary on the behaviors of white people. All assumed he was guilty, harassed the one black person advocating on his behalf and when a white person decides the defendant is innocent , she is given he heroic white savior treatment even when stealing the very words the black person trying to do the same used. It was about white people's ability to center themselves in everything in order for it to be validated. Junior was clearly tormenting Dre and while I am among the many who have slammed Dre's treatment of Junior, this behavior should have Dre more worried about Junior than Diane. It shows a mean streak, a barely hidden desire to punish Dre and a propensity to act on those feelings (we've seen this to lesser extents with Junior going off on Dre, but the pattern is clearly there and escalating). Dre better hope Zoe is around to take care of him in his old age, cause I don't think he will be happy with the treatment he would get at Junior's hands. The whole cursing thing was hilarious. Bow is understandably desperate to connect with her growing children, especially as she is on the verge of having another child who will take time away from her existing children. Ruby just stays ready to pounce on Bow and it continues to be funny as hell.
  15. Don't forget framed a man for her crime -- yes it was Andre, but it was Hope's sense of entitlement and belief that she is above culpability that enabled Her, Rafe and Roman (all police officers) to do it. Let's also not forget the Steve and Shane (a former and current representative of law enforce the) inspired faking of Stefano being alive.
  16. I really like Marlena's scenes with Eric. Strange that in the land of mass murderers, Eric is the only one who seems to feel he should be culpable for his actions. Even stranger given that he is a Brady and we know no Brady, even those through marriage should ever be held culpable for their actions; case in point, Hope. I wonder who Marlena was calling. I also wonder if GV's schedule is being kept as flexible as possible because of his commitment to Queen Sugar? Eith way, I like that he is back and casually being given something to do. I prefer Chad with Gabbi, but, I will only allow an arms-length attachment because I know that the show will be shoving Chad back together with Abby regardless of how I feel. The more I see of Hope and Rafe, the more I dislike them both individually and as a couple. If the show is banking on them being one of the core couples of the show, they are delusional. Seriously hoping the new writer doesn't have the inexplicable fascination with GG that Higlemonster did. I want Hope and Rafe to split and both to be backburnered for the foreseeable future as they are so awful, they make Andre palatable by comparison.
  17. Amazing, heartbreaking, inspiring, and simply amazing. I would put this episode of This Is Us up against the very best episode of any show currently on television for judging because I dare anyone to challenge the greatness of what we witnessed.
  18. Actually it turns out there were three other actresses. Tina Andrews (1975-77), Rose Fonseca (1977-78), Diane Sommerfield (1981-82). Based on age, I only have clear memories of two of the three; either that or I was too young to process that a different actress was playing the character since I have essentially been watching my whole life because Days is what my grandmother looked at.
  19. No, this actress is neither of the two women who previously played Valerie. You are right, this added to the problem since you can't revisit old scenes of Valerie and Julie. I know Julie is Hope's stepmother, no sort of about it (in fact, Hope's money is really Julie's money since it was Julie's father's money that Addie inherited upon his death that was left to Hope Doug was Julie's boyfriend first, but he left her so he could get with Addie and the money and returned to Julie after Addie's death, but the show doesn't want people to remember that Doug wasn't always a good person, and is basically a a kept man). That's why I mentioned David being her stepbrother, as well as nephew. However, based on Hope's reaction, if you didn't know the backstory, you would think that David was just some random who she is in no way shape or form connected to.
  20. So the showm brings back a character, Valerie, who has been off canvass for so long, most viewers have no idea who she is. She has a storyline involving Julie, a character who is mostly off-screen these days and her also, so long off the canvass that many viewers barely remember him, son. They decide to kill David, the barely remembered or mentioned son, off screen to then reveal that he is the father of Valerie's son. So we are getting a storyline that most viewers will have no connection to involving characters viewers have no connection to. Sadly, many dislike Julie, so she will not cause people to be invested in the story. Someone, please tell me whose idea this storyline was because it is barely underway and it already feels dead in the water. By the way, that park scene with Marlena and Valerie was awful. I'm surprised we didn't get the actress pulling back with her hand over her agape mouth, making the shocked breath sound as the background music went Dum, Dummm, Dummmmmm. She was that bad in the scene. "David's son! Of yes, Scotty, I knew that's who you meant because he is David's son. He is David's only son. I mean what are you trying to imply, that I had David's child and never let him know and told said child whatever lie Higlemonster is going to pull out of her arse to try to make this story compelling." Julie is Hope's sister. Making David Hope's nephew and her stepson, but your point about the continued awfulness of Hope is dead on. I just want the new regime to back-burner/remove her and Rafe from the show for at least 6-9 months, because I no longer find even the slighted reason to watch a single scene she is in. Wonder how long the show will use the wedding to keep Steve and Kayla off the show. My great fear is how Higlemonster will screw over Kayla before the new team gets in place. Higlemonster has never cared for, nor written Kayla well. She was always team She Who Must Not Be Named.
  21. Naturally, I loved the Steve and Kayla weddi g before it was interrupted for more non-news. I don't even know if I can stick through the show through tomorrow if these press conferences are going to be a daily event. I liked Stephanie's talking with Joey. Does anyon e know if Stephanie is staying in town, or is the actress just dropping in for the wedding. I don't like new Jade and that's saying something given that I didn't like Original Recipe Jade.
  22. Maybe it was the shock of not having seen KA in months, but I think it's more than that. I know she is painfully thin and her face has had that gaunt/hollow look for some time, but I was positively horrified when I saw her. That's where the comparison to DH came from because she has long looked overly botoxed and nipped and tuck but after seeing KA, DH looked damned near natural.
  23. First, let me say Dear NBC, F You with a rusty stick that's been in swam water because I only turned in to see the remarriage of Steve and Kayla, so having 80% of the show devoted to non-breaking news is doing little to make me want to stick with Days or your networks. I currently only watch This Is Us and Days, so things are not looking good. Second, MBE is so beautiful and that haircut is so damn flattering. I also loved the blue floral dress and her wedding dress. It's like someone on the show realized that neither Kayla, nor MBE are 1000 year-old frumps. So big thumbs up on that. Third, WTF is going on with KA's face. When DH looks natural compared to you, you know your latest bout of plastic surgery makes you look like a shit show. So having the episode end on her face was not a good thing. Fourth, I need Rafe to either go away, drop dead, or drop dead and go away because... Fifth, so let me get this straight, Rafe and Shane (not really a slam on Shane, more a slam on no Kimmy) are going to be at the wedding, but no Kimberly, no Stephanie [see edit below] (everyone is secretly hoping Joey will no show, but Days wouldn't give viewers that moment of happiness (plus Kayla would be disappointed if her whining, murdering, son wasn't there). Will Caroline [see edit below], Adrienne, Eric (remember he is Kayla's nephew, or is he on the run because he seemed to be hiding out with The Face of Horror wherever they were shown to be), etc. actually be there. Edited because apparently Stephanie is there based on other posts. Guess seeing her return took backseat to the non-news break we in NY were subject to. Was it the actress who played her last, or was this a new actress, so the character had to be reintroduced to viewers? Evidently Caroline is conveniently in LA with Kim, has there been any info. Regarding the actresses health because she was missing in action when I tuned out?
  24. Two days back and not only am I finding it difficult to see myself sticking around, I don't think I like Steve or Shane anymore. I might have to bail if for no other reason than I don't want to find myself rooting for Kayla to dump Steve, mainly because Kayla always gets the crap end of the stick, regardless of Steve being almost always 100% at fault. Thanks show, it wasn't enough that you made me dislike Jennifer and Hope. I now no longer view Steve and Shane favorably.
  25. Laurel and Wes were not a thing when Frank killed Mahoney. That was all about what happened with Annalise and most likely his jealousy over Wes' place in Annalise's life.
