S09.E08: Bosom Buddies
Happytobehere replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Real Housewives Of Atlanta
But no show is going to let Khandi come after Kim the way they will allow her to come after a Black woman. I'm sure there was some behind the scene intervention to keep that from going off the rails. Besides, Nene was the evil/angry black woman in the Kim story, no way they were going to allow a two black woman on "defenseless white woman" storyline. -
Sadly, scammers and our overly litigious society cause the must throw out requirement. I used to work with the homeless and restaurants would routinely give us was they did not sell. FF to claims of being made sick and threats to sue, and that soon stopped.

Like Sand Through an Hourglass: Behind the Scenes of DOOL

As someone who lives in this area, when they started messing with the time slots of Another World and Santa Barbara, it was the beginning of the end. People thought it was a test to see if they would lose the viewer tuning into the soap in that slot. -

Well, this is the same world where Andre Braugher loses awards to Louie Anderson because he put on a wig, a dress and lipstick. -
To me the best thing about the episode was how it dealt with Diane. I have felt that the Diane is a sociopath undercurrent was being played up far too much. So to see her react as a child and being treated as a child by her parents, who are far too often seen as living in abject terror of her was refreshing.

But the joke would only work with Lynch, since his fame to non-football watchers was his never-ending battle with the press over his refusal to talk to them. Seeing Lynch revealed to be loquacious rather than taciturn was the joke, that and Rosa's comment about never meeting your heroes because they will be revealed to be nice. -

Seeing this scene where Addie's feelings for Doug versus her feelings for Julie's father just reminds me that the only reason Hope is an heiress is because of Julie's father, since the money Hope inherited was Addie's portion of Julie's father's fortune. It also brings to mind the fact that as much as Doug is treated as this great person, he is essentially a glorified gold-digger since he was with Julie, until Addie decided she wanted him and used her money to sink her claws into Doug the scammer. He magically found his way back to Julie and her money once Addie was out of the picture. -
The Emily issue has bigger implications for the showm and the way cheftants are chosen. Is there an actual skills and/or reputation test; are some contestants chosen as fodder because of their incompetency; has the show officially gone down the slippery-sloped rabbit hole that is reality tv and decided that drama beats the overall reputation of the show?

I thought Katsuji was on Emily's team because of his comments on her beans until I saw the different colors they were wearing and his assholery became all I could see about him. Emily got saved by being on the winning team cause her beans sucked, but she must have secrectly loved Katsuji being clobbered on his crappy beans after his shit comments to her about her beans. IMO Katsuji should have gone because of the beans because it was a fail in terms of both orchestration and execution. I am unclear what his thought process was since he is kosher and doesn't cook with pork, his concept of a pork laden bean made no sense if he didn't have someone tasting as he went along. His attempts to remedy the disaster by adding sugar only made matters worse. It just seemed like the green team was doomed by every member of the team being out of their element and so uncomfortable by their own inadequacy at the challenge that they said nothing when their teammates were clearly making mistakes, Sliva calling her dish potato salad and no-one telling her that her dish should not be called that because wrong perception sets you up for disappointment (I don't know of anywhere in America where what she did would be considered or called potato salad); the dish was still a fail, but I think it was made more of a fail by being called potato salad. Subtle nuances such as this should be explained to someone not from this country. Sylvia and the sauce that clearly didn't fit the requirements of the challenge is another example of this. How could no one explain that the challenge was to replicate a NC sauce with either a mustard or a vinegar base. That alone could have doomed the team since the pork was supposed to be the focal point of the meal. Or was the issue that the team was comprised of chefs so self-absorbed and self-centered that they didn't get that the challenge was to work as a functional team and not just focus on their own crappy dishes? I think Katsuji, Emily and Amanda can all go as I am over each of them and their barely good cooking. This season is reminding me that I do not like Casey. She just comes across as smug and entitled and I had forgotten that. The more I see of her, the more I remember that I never liked her even in her season and why I felt the way I did. I remember tuning out when I saw her paired with Carla because I thought her attitude and cooking style was going to be the downfall of Carla who was my fav and I didn't need to see my fear come to fruition; as I knew I would here it (recorded in case I was wrong, but alas, that was not the case and I deleted the episode).

Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

I will always love Renee. I like Tony with Anna, but they paled in comparison to Tony and Renee. I always found Anna being oblivious to the Tony/Andre switch while Renee died because she spotted it right away quite telling about both women and their feelings for Tony. Renee wanted Tony and his love, Anna wanted to win the battle for Tony. -
I knew Sam was gone the minute he said he didn't bake the bread, Hate the faux drama of which team would win. These things always lessen the enjoyment of the show for me. I want to see a cooking competition not Amazing Race, the Food Edition.

Add me to the chorus of those who think that Dre's horrid treatment of junior has to stop. I want it addressed so we don't get treated like dummie who are supposed to pretend that what we saw for three seasons never happened, but it needs to stop. As for Ruby. I thought the face on the Black Jesus card looked like Michael Ealy.

Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

THANK YOU. There is no way Hope would get out of jail for this. The issue isn't what Stefano's retconned intention was but rather what Hope's intention was. She intended to kill him. she went to his home with the weapon. She accosted him. She pulled the trigger multiple times. She then disposed of the body and framed someone else for her crime. Hope also had no intention of the truth ever being revealed, and were it not for Aiden, Hope, Rafe and that other disgusting waste of space, Fauxman would still be hiding her crime. Based on what would she be eligible for release from jail. -
Umm, breaking into someone's home and cutting off their hair is a criminal act.

The very things you listed is what made me wonder if what we saw was real as well. I think seeing the glass on the ledge and the man who appeared to be Andy sort of running/moving around inside the party is what made me second-guess my first impression that what we were seeing was not actually happening. However, since even that scene was only viewed through Randall's eyes, it could still have been imagined. It's possible that Randall's mind was trying to rationalize the very disconnected things that made viewers question the scene. I for one hope this is not the case because quite frankly, randall already has enough on his plate, his identity issues surrounding his race and adoption, locating his birth father only for him to be dying and the reveal about Rebecca and her connection to WIlliam. Piling on anything else at this point would be overkill for one character.

S02.E09: The Brother / S02.E10: The Truth
Happytobehere replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Secrets And Lies [V]
I hated the reveal, no because Amanda was the killer, but it was a silly fight (as wrong as she was, why was the pregnant Kate willing to engage in a pushing contest with someone at all, let alone while she was on the rooof), not murder by any stretch and Amanda as an attorney although panicked should have this. The actions of an emotionally distraught woman (perhaps the medication altered her personality and mitigated her actions) might have garnered sympathy and a reduced sentence. A woman who allowed one brother to be a suspect when he should have been mourning and another brother to be arrested as she remained silent is on no way understandable or sympathize. Hopefully she remains in jail until her daughter is grown. The great irony as noted by another poster was that Amanda allowed her frustration to turn to rage and she killed Kate because she was pregnant while Amanda tried desperately to conceive; she turns out to be pregnant and now spends her pregnancy in jail and cannot raise the child she wanted so desperately. Also, look at who fathered her child, a complete waste who couldn't care less for his child if he tried. [The Cornell Confidential should have just been aired as it was good to see Eric happy, he deserved it and Patrick seemingly wiser for his incarceration. Plus the little girl was adorable, even though she is a biter.] Terry O'Quinn keeps up his long-standing role as awful person in whatever show he is on. He truly was the worst, who cared only for himself. I'm glad that neither he nor his equally awful other son are entitled to any of Eric mother's money. Someone questioned whether the secret is why he was so willing to keep the mother alive in a vegetative state, and I suspect that yes, that was the reason he kept her in that state because her death might have triggered some check that he knew he could not pass. No evidence, just a feeling as I don't believe that guy loved anyone other than himself. I also wonder if his secrets and her possibly suspecting something contributed to her drink driven abuse. -
That's where I went when the new will was read. There is no one who has met RA who could seriously believe that irresponsible dumbass (he couldn't even tell rotted cane and he left Blue eating churro in the park to rob a store, where his face was seen) should be left in charge of a lemonade stand, let alone a massive amount of land, and land that cost that family such a large price. I'm assuming the father had to be suffering from dementia or some deranged form of melancholy when he wrote that. the father we saw who knew RA did something illegal to get that money he was trying to give him would never have thought it was a good idea to leave the farm to RA. And no, I don't trust Darla even the slightest. Did you see her eyes perking up. Something is not right with her character. There is a reason beyond the drugs that Vi doesn't like her. Something just isn't right. I like Nova and Calvin and hope they can make things work, but I agree with the poster who stated their biggest obstacle will not be the wife, it will rather be their respective communities (police and those in the struggle with her). These forces will ultimately pull them apart, love for one another or not and that's a shame because I really do believe they love one another. As for Charley, it has been my lifelong experience that anyone who can lie and manipulate everyone and everything around them (including her child) so easily is simply not a good person at their core. I wondered why we didn't get a scene showing her releasing Davis' side piece to the media, and now I know why -- the show didn't want us to even begin to suspect the true nature of her character. Having said that, if a battle is coming between Charley and RA over Queen Sugar, I side with Charley because RA will be the cause of that land being right back in the hands of the Landry/Boudreaux family in no time (remember how his eyes practically bugged out of his head at the offer they made). RA is the type of child you leave things in a trust for until they are 35/40 in the hopes that they have grown up enough to manage life.

Dear show, I hate Debbie the rapist, and nothing you do can change that. She is the worst. Truly the by-product of Frank and Monica. Someone take that baby from her, because no good is going to come from that parenting. Kevin and Vee used to be my favorites, but even they have been ruined. Svetlana needs to go and Kev and Vee need to return to their awesome of old. At this point, I think I'm watching for the moment when someone outside of that horrid family realizes that Liam is not too far gone for redemption and spirits him away.

I agree about a post season start-up. Pitch is a good show, but it was a slow build, especially for me as a non-baseball fan. Without the competition from actual baseball, and in the mid-season lull without new episodes from returning favorites and new shows with a bugger build up, the show really could have caught on. I think far too many, myself included saw it as a niche show (female centered and/or sport centered), however, I, unlike the vast majority of viewers listened to word of mouth early enough to tune in. Nowadays people are not willing to invest in a show they doubt will make it, and sadly, Pitch has been put into the "Dead Man Walking" category by far too many experts, so new viewers are unlikely to tune in.

S09.E03: Ghosts Of Boyfriends Past
Happytobehere replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Real Housewives Of Atlanta
Bravo might be attempting to sell revisionist history now that they have sunk so low as to need Sheree back, but it was previously revealed that Bob was not paying child support because the children were living with him primarily, remember when she didn't even have sleeping bags for them, it was because they did not live with her. Moreover, Sheree was involved with some financial improprieties regarding property that should have been sold during the divorce and it was determined that the money she owed Bob as a result of said improprieties exceeded any monies he owed her. So Bob as a deadbeat dad is definitely revisionist history to generate sympathy and a storyline for Sheree. Also, it was long clear that Sheree was with Bob for his money/fame and she didn't count of the injury that took him out of the NFL. Once the money was gone, so was the marriage, and all Sheree could focus on was what she could get out of Bob.
