My heart breaks for Clay and Hannah. Knowing that they were in love with one another, but neither one ever found themselves in the right place emotionally at the same time for them to get their happy. Clay will forever wonder if he had the courage to say something if Hannah would still be alive. That's so awful for him. I actually would like Clay and Sheri to wind up together -- some happiness has to come from all this mess. As for the kids, IMO, their awfulness ranks in the following order: 1) Bryce, 2) Courtney, 3) Marcus, 4) Taylor, 5) Justin, 6) Jessica (yes her rape was awful, but I'm just focused on their treatment of Hannah pre and post death), 7) Alex (6 & 7 were a toss up for me, but ultimately, Jessica's reaction to Alex's list helped give it life, and her turning on Hannah and blaming her was just awful, so judging on a Hannah scale, Jessica is a little bit worse), 8) Ryan (he's perhaps the one I am least sure of in terms of placement, simply because I keep forgetting about him, and it wasn't until I did a kid count, that I realized I omitted him), 9) Zach, 10) Sheri. My heart also breaks for Jeff, such a loss of someone who appeared to be a genuinely good guy.

I realized it was Jeff the episode after the principal said the school lost two kids. That stuck with me as well as the fact that the other kid wasn't named. Yes, it was for the big reveal, but it also told me that the other death had to have been resolved to people's satisfaction, and it wasn't a suicide like Hannah. When we started seeing Jeff with Clay more and saw him becoming a surrogate big brother to the kid mentoring him, I realized that especially in light of Clay's feeling for Hannah and Jeff's obvious awareness of those feelings that if Jeff were still around, we would be seeing him, so I concluded he died (I became convinced in the episode where Clay saw Hannah dead at the dance and we learned how she killed herself. The last time we see Clay see Hannah, he tuns to look at Jeff and there appears to be blood on his head, so when Jeff was drinking and asked Sherry to move her car, I knew what happened to him). Too bad, as was noted previously Jeff was the most likable of the bunch.

Bryce has to have a tape as Justin and company have repeatedly mentioned making sure that Clay in addition to not telling anyone else, doesn't go to Bryce (which says that Bryce comes after Clay as each kids has handed the tapes off to one another in the order in which they appear in the narrative). As for Byrce's apparent small role in the tale, I think Hannah is telling events in chronological order, not in order of importance, or horrible behavior as it were. It is clear Hannah doesn't live much longer so she it painting the picture of how events in her life built up until even seemingly small things combined to become an avalanche that crushed her.
-
I think there are multiple reasons behind Hannah not telling. 1) Fear of not being believed by Jessica, remember, their interaction that night just prior to this wasn't all peaches and cream. Jessica basically told her she was feigning concern about her because she was jealous that Justin didn't want to be with her. 2) Fear of being further targeted if Jesica didn't believe her and ran to uber popular, BMOC, Bryce, who even Justin, Jessica's boyfriend clearly feared. 3) Given the other events of the night, Hannah, who was already hanging by a thread, probably couldn't process what was happening and how she could deal with it. 4) Guilt over the fact she not only failed to act, but that SHE, Hannah Baker, someone who knows how it feels to be victimized failed to do anything and what said failure might say about her. 5) Fear of being further ostracized and labeled the the drama queen and problem child and outright liar. I mean based on their conversations with each other and Clay, it is clear that Hannah is not lying (even the incident with being wrong about Zach getting rid of her letter appeared to be more of a mistake, than a lie, as she did see him throw something on the floor, she just was wrong abut what was thrown. Zach himself says this when he tells Clay that she misunderstood what she saw or words to that effect). Yet rather than deal with their culpability everyone finds it easier to blame Hannah and call her a liar, because at this point, she is an easy target.

PREACH. All of these kids are vile, horrible people and their willingness to plot against and terrorize Clay shows the truth of who and what they are. The sad part is, people like these kids, rarely, if ever get their comeuppance. Rather, they go on to perpetuate the mean girl mentality, rape culture supporter, pick on anyone who can't defend themselves against you behaviors that help make so many decent peoplesl lives miserable. What's even sadder are the people who seek to make excuses for them by blaming the Hannah's of the world.

I agree, Monk became progressively worse and Natalie did enable him rather than trying and help him cope and get better. I too think her rich girl against the world (which I called way before the reveal because her attitude and air of entitlement just reeked of "poor little rich girl") character saw Monk as an interesting experiment, which did him no favors. But rather than focus on the mess that was Natalie, I choose to focus on the awsome that is Sharona.

Good post. I don't think Diana looks down on the dancers so much as her justified dislike of Neva causes her to not look beyond her personal animus toward Neva to acknowledge the dancers, something she consistently manages to do with other team. Just for me, I think Neva needs to be backburnered for a while. I DVR the show and whenever there is a Neva episode, I find myself ff through every moment she is on the screen. I find her to be a nasty piece of work and just too much. She always comes across as living through her dancers and using hemas battering rams against a world that might have wronged her as a black woman and possibly a larger sized woman in the world of dance.

I really like this post and I agree that both Red and Lizzie can go away never to be seen or heard from again. That should be the universe's ultimate punishment to Red -- have him trapped with the utter nothing that is Lizzie for all eternity.

This episode reminded me how much I can't stand Mellie and how much I liked her being all but invisible for the last few episodes. To me, she represents everything that goes wrong with a character and by extension a show when a show runner gets a hard on for an actor or a character who initially has a small role on the show, and expand the role and length of the run when they should have left us with the character in smaller doses. I loved Cyrus shutting Olivia, out -- naturally Shonda couldn't have that stand. I hate Fitz and Olivia and if they are end-game, Shonda will officially be the worst showrunners because... HOW...WHY...WTF I now how Poppa Pope and Jake are behind all of this and the show ends with them just wiping the whole lot of these horrid people out; turning to the camera and saying, "This is for you longer suffering viewers, bye."

I know it sounded creepy, but I think Kenya meant that because of where they both live, she has to drive past Sheree's house day and night, so whenever she comes from and goes to her house.

Gotcha, my mistake. Let's hope that someone with clout on the network recognizes the potential of this show and gives it another chance. The truly sad thing is that moves like this from networks are the very things that keep shows from building an audience. No one wants to get attached to a show and then have it ripped away, for lesser quality, but higher viewed shows to remain on the air. This has happened to me with Fox far too many times.

UO #1: I never liked Billie. The character and actress bugged. UO #2: I hated the addition of John Austin to the cast. I never liked the reveal that he was Harry's biological father.

I think you misread the article. The show's on the low end are the ones likely to come back, hence all the Dick Wolf/NBC shows being lumped together at 49 -- they listed a total of 53 shows (their ratings aren't great but they have loyal followings and NBC wants to keep that relationship with Dick Wolf, ala ABC with Shonda Rhimes). So in this instance, the higher your ranking, the more likely you are to be cancelled. EW stated this before it got to the shows that Pitch is lumped among: Note: Uh-oh. We’re firmly shifting from shows being “on the bubble” to “likely canceled” unless a network ends up needing more returning programs than they currently expect (in other words: if their pilots are dreadful). So yes, while Pitch isn't in the top five for cancellation, it is on their likely to be cancelled list. I am hoping that FOX jettisons some of its other shows that are IMO beyond being able to be turned around -- Like Sleepy Hollow. I think that Pitch is excellent and has a real shot at being a success if MLB and FOx actually promoted it. For instance, if Fox had replayed the series in order on a day where they have some ratings success, I think it could have morphed into a major hit. I hope for the best, but am prepared for the worst because their has literally been no network buzz for months, which could signal their true feelings on the show. I for one will be doing a Season One rewatch of whatever is available On Demand, because it was truly one of the best surprises of the season for me; you know, the kind of shows you would never usually look at but find that once you start watching, you can't stop because you have fallen in love with what you are seeing.

Khandi needs to sue Porsche for liable and slander, maybe moron will get a clue when she has to face real consequences for her actions. Phaedra is truly the embodiment of evil, she has no remorse for anything she foes and she always manages to twist things so she is the victim. Kenya needs to stop lying about her multiple obvious surgical enhancements. First she denies ass implants and now the boob job when there is years worth of photos documenting her lies. sidenote: All of the ladies look ridiculous with their massive breasts.

I preferred Sharona hands down. I will lays watch a Sharona episode, even one I am not particularly fond of above a Natalie episode. Please don't let it be a Natalie centered episode, which IMO, there were far too many of. The show should have paid for BS to remain on the show as the she and her character played off on Monk's quirkiness far better. I did appreciate them bringing her character back as the show wound down and her winding up with Randy as I always thought they would make a nice couple.

I was scrolling through my tv channels and saw an Iron Chef marathon on and wondered what prompted it since I never saw the show on anymore and figured it was cancelled. I'm glad to hear they are trying to reboot the show (hope they are not changing the format), it was my favorite FN show even when IMO, it morphed into the "Find a way to justify giving Bobby Flay the Win Show."

I love Nas, but I agree that his intro-raps don't necessarily serve to move the show along. Anyone watching how the relationships were unfolding could have predicted that Shaolin and Zeke would part ways because of his criminal ties (although I thought it would be because Shao wound up dead or in jail, poor Boo, he is going to be destroyed in prison). Likewise, we all knew that whether it was her intention or not that Mylene was going to better deal Zeke the first chance she got.
-
That was my thought as well, Goldsberry is the superior singer, so people's reactions to Mylene did not ring true. I felt this in the first part of the series and I still fell that Mylene is the weakest link on the show. She is the worst actor on the show, and having so many of her scenes involve more seasoned actors did her no favors, as it only served to highlight her weaknesses. Perhaps the show runners thought having seasoned veterans cast along side HG would help prop her up.

The Blacklist: Redemption - General Discussion

I love this entire post. It sums up how I feel so perfectly. I'm really liking Redemption and hope NBC renews it, but not for the twenty something episodes that have only served to drag down the mothership, but maybe for like 16 episode where each season can be set up as two eight episode arcs. -
Surprise, surprise when Lucifer, the man who runs Empire and his family like a dictatorship needed support, no one had his back. Different kind of surprise, I wonder if Lucifer peeped that only Jamal and Cookie seemed concerned about him. He reached out to Cookie and she pulled away when Honey Boo Boo made her treacherous appearance. I'm sure Hakeem cared, but he's Hakeem, and reacted like Hakeem does in this type of situation. Speaking of Honey Boo Boo, what hustle is she working now. I wouldn't believe her if she said piss was wet. I hope the show does something with her character, she has remained stagnant and watching her has become tedious; but then again, I was over her character in season one. I'm still waiting for the reveal that Bella is not really Hakeem's child, but that is rooted in my lack of interest in the HBB character. I'm sure a paternity test was the first thing Lucifer had done the minute Bella was born. Thristy seemed all too eager to be the man behind the man, who now gets to be front and center. Andre truly feels nothing for Lucifer (wonder if he has any feelings for Cookie, or is he that far gone). You could see the wheels turning in his head, hoping that old boy died so he could complete his coup ahead of schedule. Did love that he had more than one plan in his pocket when Lucifer thought he had the jump on Andre and planned to fire him. I think Lucifer realized for the first time just how much of a threat Andre could pose to him. Hakeem continues to not know. He didn't get the problem he created when Andre payed it out to him last week, and he still doesn't get it. As evil as Andre has become, he was right about the mess Hakeem keeps making in his petulant bratdom. While I appreciate that Hakeem wanted to do the right thing, he needed to go about it differently because his stupid equals monetary liability to Empire. I loved Jamal and Cookie calling Hakeem on his ish as much if not more than his hearing them and trying to rectify his mess, even though he didn't rectify in the business-smart way. But really Jamal, the only way Hakeem is going to become woke will be if "woke" is spelled "stay being stupid", cause that's Hakeem. At least that is Hakeem for now, he can grow, but it will take time. UO -- Nia Long Can.Not.Act. And I say this as someone who has been a fan since her Guiding Light days. On that soap she was a breath of fresh air, but she hasn't grown nor has she done anything to hone her talent in the years since and placing her in scenes with TB, who is one of the strongest actors on the show is doing her no favors, her lack of skills is painful to watch. As a result , I can't get into any of her scenes because she can't sell them. Too bad because I was excited when I saw she was joining the show.

Jacob is a case study of someone who has basically had everything handed to him. H actually thought it was appropriate to call his family's handyman to fix up his house and not pay him. All the while he is talking about being his own man and not living off his parents. Guess what brother, using the family staff for your benefit without compensation still counts as living off of your parents. Hell, you now know the only job you could get outside of your parent was at the hands of someone who is using you to get back at your father; so again what you have has nothing to do with you and everything to do with your parents. This makes his "stand" at Calvary all the more laughable. I won't develop respect for Jacob until he actually stands on his own two feet, something he really had not yet done. Did enjoy his read of Gigi though. Thank goodness his wife seems to possess a modicum off intelligence, or he would truly be down the rabbit hole. Lady Mae, you better stop scheming because it will all backfire on you. I now don't trust Tim Reid's son -- why s he recommending an attorney for Kevin? Is he planning on sabotaging Kevin or the Greanleafs?

My thoughts are similar to everyone else's, and strangely, Jake and Amy are growing on me. I was ambivalent to the pairing up till now because their dynamic has nothing to do with why I tune it, but I'm liking them, which means the relationship will crash and burn soon, now that I am beginning to become invested in them. I just wanted to give a DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! To Fox (heck all the networks) for giving shows lengthy times off, and not doing enough to promote the return of the show. the end result is low ratings on the return, something that our beloved Nine Nine can't afford because it is not a ratings juggernaut to begin with. Yes, in some ways what we have now is better than the days of infinite repeats that might cause people to tire of a show, but at least those repeats were reminders of the show. I saw one promo literally the day of the return. Lucky for me, I have the show saved on my DVR.

I'm really liking this show, so naturally it will get cancelled. I am strangely invested in Tom and Solomon being friends and their fight made me feel more than a little bit sad. Even in small does Lizzie sucks, but she did serve a purpose in that something on Terry O'Quinn's face when he was talking to Lizzie convinced me that Scottie is the parent Tom should be placing his trust in. This also makes me nervous that if Howard is not to be trusted, the reveal will be that Tom is not Christopher and as I stated before, although I initially thought this would be revealed to be the case, I am liking the chemistry with Tom, Howard and Scottie and am now in camp 'Let Tom really be Christopher.' Looking forward to next week's season (hopefully not series) finale.
