Lynn Whitfield is so good. When the series began, who would have thought that I would be Team Lady Mae, but Whitfield makes me feel for her. I just wish she would stop blaming Grace for everything. Yes Grace is a busybody and know-it-all, but she is desperate for your love and approval in her own way, she just doesn’t know how to thaw the ice between you.

I agree with all of this, especially the mistep that was making Lucas a Horton. It limited him in so many ways what with Salem being the inbreeding capital of America. -

For me, the best part of this week’s episodes were the Lucas and Will scenes. I have no words for what was done to Steve and Kayla. -
Especially since Brady’s take is undoubtedly more a result of his dislike for his cousin, than his love for his brother. And given what he did to Nicole and his own brother Eric, he really should, STFU.

But Abby is a precious Horton, she could assassinate the Pope and Nope and Nightmariffer would tell you she was the saintly victim. Who would have thought that as someone who watched Days from the time she was a kid, that I would hate the Hortons who remain on canvass. I used to love Hope and Jennifer. Now the sight of their faces and the sound of their voices disgust me. I haven’t liked Abigail since Ashley Benson played her. What the hell in the names of Tom and Alice Horton is going on here? So Hope the murdering; willing to frame an innocent man; actually belongs in jail; hypocrite; who lives to abuse her authority as a police office has the nerve to question Sammi’s character. I know Drake is not the best actor, but boy does he sell John’s undying love for Marlena. This ability is why I never bought him with Kristen during any point when he knew Marlena was alive. He and DH have such believable chemistry. CM continues to kick a** as Will. I’m not thrilled with his lying to Paul, but I get that right now, he doesn’t need the extra added pressure of Paul’s questions and stares. Too bad Sonny is too obtuse to back off a little, especially now. I liked Will’s scenes with Eric. -

Because the show’s current writers forgot that Marlena is Brady’s mother as well. She raised him and is the only mother he has ever known, but why be at the hospital for his parents or his siblings when he can be having a conversation with Nope and Chafe that could have taken place later or over the phone. Truer words have rarely been spoken. We need this on a t-shirt. -

CM is the reason why no matter what, I’m team Will regardless of who his character winds up with. What we have gotten from him these last few weeks is why Guy Wilson was doomed from the moment he was cast. In order to differentiate his Will from CM, the show did a lot of damage to Will as a character and they still dumped GW after the mess was already created. I always thought Will should have been written out when CM was leaving and then brought back to give the new actor a fair shot at catching on, but it is what it is. Now that Will remembers, I hope they bring back Lucas so he can have a moment with his son. For the first time, I’m actually interested in the Kristen/Susan story. I never cared for ED (in any role on any show, I find her off-putting) and hated when she became the monster who ate the show. In fact her ascent was one of the first times I went through an I’m not watching this show anymore phase. I just hope the show sticks with Stacy, who is doing a terrific job because I’m sure they are getting pressure to bring Eileen back. Random thought: Every so often, I see actors/characters in scenes and always find myself thinking, “Why is this person there?” Today was another one of those moments with KDP as Eve. I love KDP back from her OLTL days, but as great as she is, nothing changes the fact that she is woefully miscast as Eve. It doesn’t help that this incarnation of Brady is a charismatic-less, moronic, a-hole. -

Well, under this regime, Eric apparently doesn’t know the grandfather who raised himfor most of his life either, so, there’s that. I hated the Sami entrance. Your a forty-something with a grown, divorced son. Can you not act like a toddler throwing a tantrum at all times. It get real old, real fast. -
1) Sew dissension between the two so he could become Clay’s right hand and his branch of the family could take over. Besides, it was hinted more than once last season that Clay killed Bryce and Roller’s parents. I wish they hadn’t killed Wanda, she is hard core, even from the great beyond. 2) I love that Roller’s acknowledgement that Polly was right. I also love that despite their issues, Roller and Desna always wind up confiding in each other. They truly are the ying to the other’s yang. I know things spun out of control for them from the start of the show, but I’m glad the show brought Roller back. Does Desna even know that the Russians were able to grab a foothold in their lives because Roller was trying to get her the money Clay promised her after Clay decided to screw her over? While I am not especially fond of Virginia. I want all of the crew back. The ladies have tremendous chemistry and I can’t believe that Desna would be able to find a new crew she could truly trust. Besides, I don’t want a season full of Dean blaming Desna for Virginia’s demise.

Most of my thoughts have already been mentioned, which leaves me with one issue/question. Shawn kept saying that Claire and Ben were “shacking up.” I have never heard that term used to refer to anyone other than an unmarried couple who were involved in a sexual relationship and living together sans the sanctity of marriage. I could understand Shawn using this term with his sister when discussing Ben, but not his daughter. I am further dumbfounded by Claire's failure to correct her father. -

This is what you call shitting on someone. They break you down to the bare minimum you will work for, then they fire you anyway. It’s a classic power move to let you know they don’t even want you for the cut-rate price. -
As is par for the course with them, Steve, who has a list of wrongs he has done to Kayla and demanded her forgiveness for as long as ten connected states will play the victim and leave Kayla holding the bag (mainly because SN the is out). Unfortunately, Kayla will then fade into the background, since Kayla is never worthy of a love life or a storyline outside of Steve. My great wish is for Tripp (I find his character, who never should have exited tedious and he lacks chemistry with Claire and Ciara) to follow his father out of Salem, and for Kayla’s children to be brought back on screen.

Well to be fair Melissa Reeves as Jennifer should be about fifteen years older than Eric Brady, since the twins were only a couple of years old when she joined the show in the role. Maybe the show is trying some sort of weird retcon that only applies to their characters. -

Yes, a major issue with this iteration or Eve is that no matter how good KDP is, she can’t overcom being woefully miscast in the role. She should have been a new none related to anyone character for the same reason Ben shouldn’t have been written into a corner as a serial killer and Lani should not have been Abe’s daughter — the show needs viable characters not related to anyone. Part of the mess we have with storylines now and part of the reason John’s past, as the most obvious example, gets retconned every few years is because in order to make whatever new coupling they are insisting upon to work, they have to change who he is related to. -
QA does have the moral high-ground. Arlene started a relationship with her to advance her career by destroying Desna. It backfired on her hen QA outsmarted her. At this point, they were equal in their deviousness, and despicable duplicity. One Arlene came back around with the sole intent of using QA yet again, Arlene became the villain in the piece yet again. So while I get her feelings and agree with her telling QA off, she’s actually in the wrong in that relationship by a score of 2:1.

Days is and has been for quite a few years now, a show filled with chemistry less couples shoved together and down viewers thoughts because it suits whoever is in power (actor, writers, producers, Corday). It is plot driven and not character driven, that’s why poorly plotted and poor,y portrayed characters are allowed to remain front and center. Perhaps if they went with the couples who actually had chemistry, some of their most embarrassingly bad storylines never would have taken place. -

I love this as a scenario. It makes the killings more substantive and for lack of a better word, interesting. The problem as I saw it when the show decided to make Ben the killer was that it was what Days has consistently done so poorly at, writing plot points. Ben was made the killer to make him the villain in a scenario (Abby screwing Chad behind his back and passing off another man’s child as his) where he should have been if not the victim, at least the party worthy of the most sympathy. Sadly, the show’s refusal, which continues to this day, to declare the utterly despicable Abby as the villain she has long shown herself to be, created this mess. As much as the show wanted to get rid of Guy and the character of Will, TPTB knew that even if the actor was not especially well liked, the character of Will was largely loved because of his multi-year presence on the show as a legacy child/grandchild, and to ensure that Ben would be reviled, he brutally murdered Will. No room for sympathy there, and Abby walks away from this unscathed. Understand, I am not blaming Abby for Ben becoming a killer, rather, I am saying the show made Ben the killer to allow Abby to be held unaccountable and play the wounded victim yet again (we currently see this same scenario being played out with Gabe). What I will say is that as a viewer who returned mere months before the murders began, I saw the RSW had potential and thought it was a mistake for him to be made the killer. The show is currently trying to correct this, but I agree, the crimes he committed against the people he committed and the brutal way the crimes were presented likely means that Ben will ultimately made the villain again. -

Okay, I haven’t posted much lately, but I had to say these two things about today’s episode: 1) I hate when people who have no idea of the history of the characters write scenes. I mean that Eric and Marlena conversation when she refers to her father in that stilted way as if Eric has never seen or heard of the man was bad enough, but it was made worse by the fact that after John stopped being Roman and lost custody of the twins, Eric went to live with and was raised by Marlena’s parents, which would include the very father she acted like Eric knew nothing about. In fact, Eric continued living with her parents even after he was an adult (something the show told us everytime the question of where Eric was for long stretches at a time was posed). 2) I was wondering when the show would move to reunite Eric and Brady in the face of Nicole returning, so that they could be torn apart again, and the show gave it to us today. I personally loved the brotherhood bond that existed between Brady and Eric and hate the fact that rather than bring to two together organically and build their relationship back to where it should be, the closeness that used to symbolize Eric and Brady is once again being used as a plot point. It’s especially sad that this is the path the show is taking when we have the ongoing battle of the bores that is Chad and Stephan. -

It’s funny, but I don’t particularly care for either of the actors who play Sonny (FS) or Paul (CS). I have never found them interesting or particularly captivating. However, when either/both actors are in scenes with (CM’s) Will, I both like and am interested in them. Heck, Sonny’s scenes with Justin were interesting because they contained so many flashbacks to Sonny and Will. CM really elevates both actor and for me, his portrayal of Will makes all aspects of this storyline viable. This new iteration of Ciara proves that LB should never have been recast, and the character should have been allowed to age naturally. Both actresses cast to play aged Ciara thus far have been awful. I think it’s a combination of acting skills or lack thereof, and the fact that each new version of Ciara has been written to be more Hope-like than like Bo, and Hope is insufferable at this point. I find I have zero interest in Original Recipe Hope or the sequel. I do however like Ben. I liked him better than Chad when he and Chad were competing for the booby prize that is Abby; and I like him better than Ciara, or the legacy that nobody wants as I like to call her. -
1) I still don’t care for or truly trust Virginia, but I do agree she has not been insufferable this season. 2) I too am liking Roller more this season and the steps the show has taken to show that however their relationship began, and whatever dirt has transpired between them, at some point, Roller and Desna actually began to deeply care for/possibly love one another. I think the show runners know that the Roller they created when he was a one and done character cannot remain if he is to remain a viable long-term character on the show. 3) I had the same thoughts as I watched Roller bonding with “his son” I think it’s going to be revealed that the baby isn’t his and that this was a plan on the part of the Russians to get their hooks in the Dixie Maffia. If the baby is Roller’s I doubt Olga will be long for this world; leaving him as a single parent. 4) The actor playing Dean kills it each week. 5) Now that’s the Uncle-Daddy I came to love to hate last season.

We knew that things were going to blow up in Desna’s face this season, what with the Haitian. Last week we knew the fan was on high last week with QA stupidly leaving that message and Dr. Ken getting busted. This episode let us know that the protective cover on the fan was off when Roller, Jen, and damn near everyone else reminded her about her Russian benefactor, and Desna still put her above everyone else, but I never saw this ending coming. Side note, Polly is getting on my nerve with her “mothering.” We know something is seriously off with her with the lies she tells herself and everyone else, but even if that girl was her biological child, which she is not, or if she was actually raised by Polly, which she was not, she doesn’t owe Polly her life and it is not her job to live out whatever fantasy family Polly invented in her mind.

It almost makes me want to start watching again. I returned but couldn’t take whenat was happening to Kayla and Steve.

Exactly. All Lucifer needs to do is say he lost it. There is no chain of evidence and the person currently in possession of the scarf is someone with a clear motive to fabricate evidence to frame Lucifer (I’m still calling him Lucifer because just like Cookie’s Mama, I don’t believe that snake has changed— I still think he set Cookie up to be arrested, when’s that coming back to bite him in the ass?)
