Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode
Happytobehere replied to CatLady's topic in Days Of Our Lives
Exactly, while I was on Sammi’s side with Abigail, I was team F Sammi with her pleas to Kayla. Sammi wasn’t about family and family loyalty when she chose EJ (the man who raped her) and Ava over Steve, Kayla, Stephanie and everyone else he hurt and almost killed. People need not have selective memories because it’s okay to have your favorites and overlook all their flaws, but it’s ridiculous to act as if others be they on the show or off should. I understand fan bases because I love Kayla, but a lot of those attacks on Kayla were awfully reminiscent of those who defend Abigail at all cost. -

Today I experienced a miracle, KM was on my screen and I only ff through her scenes with Chad. I actually watched her scenes with JJ and Jack. She was her usual smu, self-absorbed self with JJ, but her scenes with Jack worked for me. Days being Days, I’m not certain that the flashback to his death means this is truly Jack. MA and his fans have been screwed over by TPTB plenty of times. So I can sadly envision them revealing him to either be a fake, or finding some other way to destroy and dump the character before writing him off. The recent treatment of SN only reinforces these fears because Steve should really be a part of Jack’s return. Heck, I’m still pissed at how they got rid of MA when Jack was used to bring Steve back from the dead. We got cheated out of the Johnson Brothers storyline then too. Rafe still sucks. Hope still sucks. Sadly, this is the duo that the show will stick with because Days openly hates its viewers. -

I immediately thought about Tad and Jesse in heaven when I read Tribeca’s post. -
Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

I agree with the first part of your post, but my disdain for the current incarnation of Jennifer has me rooting for the still painfully miscast Eve (my love for KDP aside) because I want what has come to be the all too familiar Horton smugness and entitlement to be ripped away from her and Eve as villain in the hands of KDP is just the person to do it. However, I will add that I haven’t truly watched the show since the last Steve and Kayla shitshow of a storyline. -
Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

I’m glad I got to see Jack’s return. I for one hope that he does not take this incarnation of Jennifer back because she is the worst. I know we are supposed to hate Eve (KDP looked phenomenal today) and be rooting for Jennifer to get back with Jack, but she is his ex-wife for a reason. The show turned Jennifer into a pick-me person and IMO, she has never recovered from the Daniel pairing, if anything, Jennifer’s character has gotten progressively worse. At this point, I would like to see Jack paired with Eve for a while to see what happens there. Call me cruel but I loved Eve ripping into little Ms. Horton (I am so glad that Tom and Alice are dead so they can’t see the self-indulgent, self-serving, holier than thou while acting lower than the low genetic links to them that currently occupy Salem. I mean Jennifer, Abigail, Julie, etc. are all awful and virtually unwatchable at this point , and to think at one point, these were some of my favorite characters. The Hortons are now so awful that I’m thinking that they latest family retcon will reveal Brady to be a Horton, because at this point, there is no other explanation for that a**hole). I nearly laughed when Adrienne told Jack he was in a room full of people who love him. I mean, there was like a total of five people who even know who Jack is in that room. At least we got a mention of Steve but no SN on the horizon. To give this story more depth, imagine the flashback scenes we could get with the MA, SN, JE, MBE, MR on canvass, but Steve has been ruined yet again to further the agenda of TPTB. The only thing that sucked this episode was, and it pains me to say it, the obligatory black couple. Eli and Lani just don’t work, but Days continues in its historical pattern of pairing chemistry less black couples because the “ism” is powerful and real. The actor who plays Eli has so much potential, it the show chose to use him properly, but his role (much like any actress who has been paired with the dreadful GG’s Rafe) is to prop up a bland, and poorly acted character whose is clearly portrayed by someone who is liked by the right people behind the scenes because their continued employment makes no sense. -
I’ve watch Days since the 70s and I had to stop and think why Sonny would care. My first thought was Will being a Horton, and then I realized that Adrienne, is Sonny’s mother and Jack’s sister, so Jack is his uncle (the Six Degress of Incestuousness that is Days keeps going). Gee, I wonder if there is another Johnson sibling who should presumably be present during Jack’s return, yet strangely won’t be?

Her character left town last episode.

I’m officially out. I can’t stand Ben’s family and the actress playing his sister is insufferable. To bad bad casting is dragging down a show with potential.

Regarding the sisters and their respective paternities: https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2018/08/06/charmed-cast-and-producers-changes-holly-marie-combs-backlash/916844002/

Well, Lee needs to have a white woman to prop at all times. Remember, he created Star as a love lettter to them because the world is just so hard on them and their alabaster glory.

I couldn’t agree more. Dre is the absolute worst. Watching him crap on Junior is painful.

I agree and the damage done by that and Will’s now undone murder was profound. I think that this coupled with the awful version of Ciara we have been given make not watching this coupling say. Given that, all of the characters in the Ben/Ciara/Trip/Claire story are unlikable, so I’m not surprised thatbBen is coming out looking like the best of that bunch. For me, the big problem with the Ben is the killer reveal was the fact that it flew in the face of everything we had been told about who the killer would be (a shocking, you’ll never believe it in a million years reveal) and the reveal’s impact on the canvas of the show (the impact will be felt by everyone in Salem for years to come). The character of Ben and the reveal didn’t meet that. While I know that shows hype things all the time and then the execution doesn’t live up to the promise, I will always belive that the turmoil going on behind the scenes altered what the original plans for the story were. I remember that there were at least three relatively major characters who were rumored to be leaving and then the showrunners changed yet again and those characters remained. I’m blanking in the actors/characters now, but I remembered thinking at the time that if any of those people were the killer, it would be a return to the old school murder mysteries of soap lore. You know, when Chris Kosichek’s brother, Jake was the killer, when it looked like Roman and then Tony were the killer, when Harper Deveraux was the killer, you know, big deals like that whose reveal shook the canvas of the show.

I am loving this season. Last season was a train wreck with all the Abby stuff, so good for the show with the course correction. Glad ind3cided not to delete the show from my DVR. I too see no need for either of Ray’s kids. Much like Abby, the damage has already been done and there is no going back with their characters. However, given their existence and Ray’s love for them, it is unrealistic that they will barely be seen. I am more interested in Ray as a stand alone character and his relationship with all three of his brothers. Mickey, IMHO, needs to gomthe way of Abby.

I’ll check in with you guys to find out when the Jack scene airs.

Jane Elliot is back on Days and playing two different characters? I might just tune into this dreck again.

No way was the show going to let viewers cheer for Lady Mae over the Bishop. When it became clear that the show wasn’t going the Bishop and Mavis as Grace’s parents route, I wondered if the reveal would be that Grace was a product of rape, as nothing else could explain Mae hating Grace for just existing. I guess we are to conclude that living under the constant fear of her treachery being discovered cause Mae to resent Grace, and the new reveal will be that Grace really is the Bishop’s child and all of this was for nothing.

1) I feel very strongly that in order for all this game playing to make sense, the dead body has to be a major person in the cast. For me, that leaves out Gabriel, Tegan, Timothy Hutton’s character, and Bonnie’s creepy-ugly boyfriend from Nip/Tuck. At this point, that leaves Nate and Oliver. Oliver would make sense if the actor playing Connor is leaving and this serves as the reason he walks away. Although overall, I suspect this could be the final season. 2) The more I see Tegan, the more I love her. I don’t want the show to saddle Texan with the emotional black hole that is Michaela. 3) Michaela is clearly unstable and she is in my opinion a stalker in the making. She has always come across as unbalanced to me. Her desperation for approval and her continuing sabatoging of relationships is more than youthful inexperience and need. 4) Until you said this, I hadn’t thought about that. Annalise picked the five for specific reasons and all they have done and continue to do is make her life a living nightmare with very little payoff. Maybe this is the ultimate kharma and explains why Annalise has yet to jettison this toxic bunch. She feels like she deserves what has happened to her because of why she brought them into her orbit.

Especially since they rarely have chemistry with Abe. In all his years on the show, his best pairing IMO was white Nicole’s mother. But Days never strays from its racial divide when it comes to black characters for long (see the desperate attempt to pair Eli and Lani) so you already know where this is going.

S05.E02: Whose Blood Is That?
Happytobehere replied to Bort's topic in How To Get Away With Murder [V]
This is what I thought last week and still think is the most likely probability given the baby being there. Who else would be taking the baby somewhere other than Laurel’s mother. My above Teigan theory only works if Bonnie had Christopher and she came across Teigan outside and snapped at the woman who “stole” her child (likely to be revealed that Bonnie’s rapist father gave the child to Teigan because she is somehow connected to the bio father). The show runners also claim that the victim would be a major player on the show, so unless they are lying, that doesn’t fit Laurel’s mother. Yes. He looks like a bizarro Michael Jackson, if that makes sense given how bizarre Michael looked in his last years. I find the actor to be hideously unattractive and I cannot wait for him to go. -

Well, the Bonnie baby stuff could be directly linked tothe murder and Teigan. I was wondering if they are going to have Teigan be the person who stole the baby. We know Gabriel is definitely reporting back to someone. What if it his mom/Tegan, and the reveal of Gabriel as Bonnie’s son leads to her murder. -
I believe that those scenes were taped. It’s too easy to go back and prove her wrong. Plus during the commercials for the Iyanla appearance, you saw a scene between Iyanla, Tamar and Toni where Toni said some unpleasant things to Tamar and Iyanla was addressing Toni’s importance in Tamar’s life (we know from the sisters that Toni was effectively Tamar’s second mother) and how Toni’s comments impact Tamar. I’m waiting for those scenes to come up on a special BFV or IFML episode. Because why show everything in two episodes when you can milk it for a third episode.

I think the breathing sounded like a woman and I immediately thought it was Michaela. My only reason for thinking otherwise is the optics on this. They killed Wes and then Michaela, the only two black members of the original K5. However, like Wes, so much of the drama that has happened in the past season or so can be traced back to her, so there’s that. I loved this season opener. I have long thought that The K5 needs to transition out if the show is to survive and stay fresh, assuming VD wants to do the show beyond season 5. As such, I have no problem with Michaela or Laurel dying at the hands of another member of K4 (as they are sans Wes). However, if the person was trying to take the baby, the victim could be Laurel’s mother. We all speculated that Laurel killed her, but she could have beaten her badly, and dumped her somewhere and now Mommy Dearest is back for revenge. My hope for end-game on this show is for Annalise, Frank and Bonnie to be left standing firmly together against the rest of the world.

I assumed this is the final season and that Cookie is in the casket. First, Taraji has been working outside of Empire steadily, and she might be ready to bounce. Second, Fox got this show and the actors on the cheap (google how much these black actors are making per episode), and Empire has been a cash cow for them, but the five year mark is usually when contracts are renegotiated. Fox, the network that just brought back the the up with white people, Last Man Standing, might be ready to return to its days of now black shows after having black shows helm them (think Living Single, In Living Color, etc. ). I am thinking that Bevky might be their inside man at Empire. Besides, she needs to live.

Of course this is a storyline. If they are on strike and not filming, where is all this footage coming from. Someone thought this would be dramatic I thought realizing that it had to fall apart under the light. If they wanted a sister battle, they should have gone with the wanting to strike, Traci ruining their leverage (still would not be believable because Toni and Tamar are the ones with leverage, but I digress) and the sisters being angry with her as Traci’s motivations and the rationales of the other sisters are explored. I wonder what the ratings for this section of the season has been like because I have basically been ff through 95% of each episode.
