  1. His half-brother.
  2. As much as Tamar has grown on me over the years, I have to admit that the Tamar free episodes of BFV have been so pleasant, calm and enjoyable. As for the party at Vince’s, I can only hope that Toni’s son wanted his party there and she is trying to be the bigger person for his sake. I was actually disappointed in the sisters because they couldn’t put their feelings aside for their nephew’s sake. You don’t have to interact with Vince, but you should be there to support and celebrate your nephew.
  3. She slept with both SN and TC’s characters on GH. Since SN’s character on GH was named Stefan and TC’s character on Days is Stefan, I’m not certain which Stefan you were referring to (although I suspect you mean TC).
  4. That episode was interesting. While in no way excusing Gabe and his infidelities, seeing the abusive nature of their relationship (Trina as verbally abusive and demeaning) put his actions in a new light. When Gabe admitted that part of his attraction to Trina was the familiarity of being abused and demeaned like he was as a child, it was sad. Also, hearing that he never felt like he was the father figure in her sons’s lives reminded me of the time when Tamar accused Andre of being nothing more than the babysitter to his kinds with Towanda. Something caused Gabe to feel that he was basically the glorified babysitter to Trina’s sons. I don’t know if Gabe and Caleb will ever have a close relationship, but watching the lightbulb come on in Caleb’s eyes when Iyanla spoke to him about Gabe’s feelings and experiences caused me to wonder what Caleb saw/heard in the house that he was now putting in context. The episode also supported my long-held belief that Mama E is a real piece of work.
  5. I love this post. I am also wondering if Cookie’s illness is setting up an out for Taraji should she choose, unless the show definitely has her on lock for five seasons; in which case, this is the question to be asked next season.
  6. Yes, SN played TC, uncle on General Hospital. He raised him and was believed to be his father (changing the story to make SN uncle was a bust that never really went anywhere , so it shou,d have been left alone, but that’s just me). MBE had a relationship with SN’s character and wound up sleeping with TC’s character. Thus far, TC is not impressing and he did not hold his own with with Nichols and Evans. Surprise, Surprise, Lani remains a non-entity as a character and at this point, her lack of impact can no longer be laid at the feet of anyone other than the actress. I personally think Lani needs to be written out of the show. Have her miscarry and leave to reflect on the mess she has made of her life. If the character comes back, she needs to be recast. In another non-surprise, which I predicted when I left the show with the offensive use of Theo being shot by JJ the cop storyline, JJ remains on canvass, Theo is gone and essentially forgotten and they have found a way to shove Lani and Eli down our throats as a potential chemistry-free couple. Days remains the same as it ever was when it comes to race relations (heck even the Lani is Abe’s daughter reflects this. There were much more interesting choices for who Lani could be related to, other than the one black character on the canvass at that time. Heck, have her be related to no one and simply be someone who moves to Salem, ushering in a potential new family). My only wrong call was Claire being paired with Ava’s spawn, and that’s only because they decided to go with New, new Ciara.
  7. Thank you. Yes, Dre is beyond awful 99% of the time with everyone but Zoey and Ruby, but in her own way, so is Rainbow. There is a reason she picked Dre to be her spouse and is still with him twenty-years later. While Junior opting to go to Howard makes sense and definitely connects to Dre’s treatment of him. I also think his decision connects to how Bow treats him. I think being away from the overbearing presence of both his parents will enable Junior to come into his own and help him be comfortable in his own skin, rather than the battling skins his parents want to wrap him in. The thing I found interesting about the Jack and Diane story is that much like Junior, what we saw connects to how she is treated by her family. How, not for the first time either, we saw Diane try to reach out and connect with people only to be side-eyed and dismissed. The running, not even funny anymore IMHO, joke is Diane being evil and everyone being afraid of her, including her therapist. While Diane has a sharp-tongued, dominant, especially in relation to Jack, personality, I think the she’s evil persona is really a result of how she is treated. Zoey is Dre’s favorite, Junior is Bow’s favorite, and Jack is the one everyone’s finds adorable. This leaves a Diane in the role of the “just there/forgotten” child, and sometimes such kids are only noticed when they do something wrong. So you have the pattern of Diane being neglected emotionally, only getting attention when doing something not approved of, and the cycle began and perpetuating itself, with the negative perceptions being actively and openly co-signed by both Bow and Dre. As she gets older and tries to break the pattern, her efforts are not supported. Notice in the episode where she tried connecting with Zoey, Diane was receptive when her sister interacted with her positively. Diane was equally receptive and open to interacting with Ruby and Junior when they have moments of sharing. Perhaps if people could get past their perceptions of Diane, she would show herself to be a kind, loving, and smart young lady, who does not suffer fools; which is a far cry from the hellspawn she has been labeled as.
  8. The rumors of domestic violence have been swirling for years. I first heard whispers when the show premiered. The whispers got louder when Toni split from Vince as her manager and Tamar attacks her for it, which led to the brief split in their closeness which we witnessed. I don’t know if anyone heard Tamar’s comments when she was on Steve Harvey, but hearing her talk about Vince wanting blonde haired, light skinned women and how she tried to be what he wanted made me feel sad for her. I know people joke about her being with Vince for his money, but if you ever heard Tamar talk about past relationships, I grew to believe she did love him because he was so good to her. Sadly, this is the typical abuser move, spot the emotionally vulnerable, reel them in, then break them down. And that’s how Tamar sounded to me, broken down
  9. That’s just business sense. Traci going with Toni helps Traci, but does nothing sales or audience wise for Toni. Tamar can not only bring fans to the seats, she brings fans that might buy Toni’s cd. Toni doesn’t have to feel obligated to keep carrying her sisters. Besides we have seen the work ethic of the sisters, and if I had to choose, I would definitely choose On Her Grind Tamar over, When I Get to it Traci. Also this might be the bonding and sister.y support Tamar needs right now.
  10. My heart was broken. I loved them, but hate what is happening. I also thought John and Marlena were solid support for Steve and Kayla this episode. Too bad so many lightweights were in the same episode. Their blandness really showed.
  11. Thanks for the information. I was still watching full time with the Eric and Nicole stuff. I was pissed that they wasted all of that couple’s potential to pair Nicole with the awful Brady. I initially liked Eric with Jennifer, but again, sometimes when the moment passes it’s hard to get that feeling back.
  12. I’m thinking about returning to the show, so I have been catching up On Demand. The show still needs work, but I can see they are trying to turn things around, even if I don’t agree with everything being done. I really liked Julie’s scenes with Eli. That was more of the Julie I remember, not the shrill harpie the writers morphed the character into. I like Gabby and Eli (the actor playing Eli is really good) as a couple and hope they get through their current onslaught. I still don’t think the show has found the person who the actress who plays Lani has chemistry with (I do think the actress has skills, the show just doesn’t seem to know how to effectively utilize these skills). I didn’t like her with Shawn, I don’t like her with JJ and I didn’t care for her interactions with Eli. As a result, I hope this baby storyline never comes to fruition, maybe she can have a miscarriage becuase it is ridiculous. How do you do a storyline like this where it seems like everyone but JJ knows he is not the father? Were I looking to delve into mental health, I would have tackled the obsessive, stalkerish, borderline tendencies that have long been present int the Lani character rather than the DID trope going on that has made a criminal out of Gabby. The show could still do it if they have her miscarry, lose JJ and watch Eli and Gabby solidify as a couple. Are we supposed to hate Valerie because every time she goes into her histrionics about “her grandchild” and her near deranged interactions with JJ, all I can think is “Didn’t you keep your son from his now dead father and his family until Eli was beyond a grown a** man?” Hypocrite, thy name is Valerie. Tyler Christopher’s hair plugs look good, but was another DiMera really needed and why is he fascinated with Abby, a character who remains the opposite of compelling to me even with the actress change? I’ve only watched a few of his portrayals but when it comes to what the current crop of writers are bringing to the DiMera story, it seems like a case of same song, different verse. Kayla still seems to be being used as a prop for other characters and their stories, but since her stories with Steve would undoubtedly revolve around his Ava spawn and her being subjected to Steve’s emotional abuse in favor of him, and her own children are non-existent in favor of said spawn, I guess this is the best I can hope for when it comes to my favorite character. i don’t like recast Ciara all that much, Claire remains bland, and wasn’t Ava’s spawn insinuating himself into Claire’s Life when she was with Theo, guess that hypocrite gene is shared with Valerie. I see the show is still doing Brady and Eve (com they work as a couple, or I saw it a case of who is going to successfully scam the other first?). I saw Eric doing next to nothing, is the show doing anything with the actor?
  13. Sorry to hear that. Yes I meant via a provider. I am just getting back (at least thinking about it and that was how I caught up). If you are able to download the NBC app, I know they have old episodes available, but I don’t know how far back their access goes.
  14. If Bonnie’s son, he’s black becuase his father is black. If Annalise’s son, he looks black even though his father is white. I think we are to assume that Laurel’s mother called in the murder to Jorge who actually ordered the hit. I’m still not sure if that is the ultimate reveal. My question is regardless of whose son the boy is, why does Frank seem to know all about him and who was he calling. I’m hoping it’s Bonnie’s child because another betrayal in regards to Annalise’s son would be something the Frank character could never come back from. I personally would be fine with all the “kids” being gone next year if the show comes back (guess Viola only committed to four seasons as reports indicate the ratings are fine) and a new group of kids come into play. Even if Annalise does not return to teaching, Frank could be the connection to the new kids.
  15. This episode had me questioning Claire on two fronts and neither set of questions made her come off looking good. First, is she stupid, to have not seen that witch coming from fifty miles away. To continue to treat her as she were more than the creature she presented herself to be was just plain dumb. Has she never her the famous Maya Angelou quote, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” Second, does Claire live in a delusional bubble where she’s not black because every black woman I know recognized peak WW when blonde walked on camera. Claire is really go8ng to have to work to earn back my respect becuase damn!
  16. In my neck of the woods, it is not school policy, it happens based on 1) Parental request — they want the twins to develop friends and identities outside of each other and 2) Academic ability — based 9n what we have seen, Diane would not in the same class as Jack.
  17. Dre’s role as a non-stop PoS is really making it hard to watch his scenes on the show. The show better start dialing that mess back before they alienate viewers.
  18. I agree with the posters who noted that Carrie should have won. Not only was her desert arguably the best, she did the best within the confines of the rules they were given. I hate when TC sends someone home for not adhering to the confines of the challenge but then doesn’t give it the cheftant who not just was among the best cooks, but actually did the best 8n terms of the challenge given. Claudette being back in the mix is not something I want to see. She still takes no responsibility for her failure the first time around. I wonder whose fault it will be when Claudette is once again asked to do something out of her comfort zone, bombs and gets bounced; perhaps she’ll blame the food.
  19. I don’t think it was unfair at all. If your heritage is growing up in California eating corned beef and cabbage, then you cook corned beef and cabbage. Heritage is a historical connection. The perogie(sp?) was a representation of that. The cook wasn’t criticized because the dish wasn’t a generations old recipe, the criticism was it was not that great a dish. So saying the challenge was unfair to someone like Tyler is a cop-out.
  20. Claudette is delusional and duplicitous. She clearly was the one who wanted to cold smoke the fish (I guess this was Adrienne’s fault), yet she didn’t know how to do it (Adrienne is clearly at fault because she didn’t teach Claudette to do something Claudette suggested doing). Adrienne had to stop what she was doing, the only part of the dish the judges liked, to give Claudette step-by-step instructions on Claudette’s suggestion (Adrienne was clearly at fault for n ot doing everything, while Claudette tooted her imaginary horn). She even goes out claiming she is better than so many others and Adrienne should have gone because Adrienne was the problem. Heck, we even see her blaming Tom for kicking her out of the competition during the LCK promo and having to be told by Tom that he was not responsible for her demise. — DELUSIONAL. Claudetter then clearly tried to throw Adrienne (who had said nothing negative about what Claudette brought to the table, even though she clearly could have) under the bus claiming that she had other ideas that Adrienne didn’t like and Adrienne forced her to make this dish, in an effort to save herself, even though it was clear that her contribution to the dish was what was not liked. — DUPLICITOUS Needless to say, I hope Claudette is set packing from LCK as well.
  21. Seeing Gina made me realize how good the show has been without her. When she said she was leaving, I was actually happy, but then the show ripped my joy by bringing her back. I as always meh on her character, but I never really wanted her off the show until now.
  22. All of the Marlena and WIll scenes were fantastic. DH and CM are still fabulous together. I wish the show had not cut whatever scenes there were leading up to Sami being comforted by John. I like when the show acknowledges that John was Sami’s father during her formative years. When Marlena and Roman came back, Sami did not go with her biological parents easily and shortly thereafter, she and Erick were shipped off. Why am I not surprised by the amount of ”Awe poor JJ, F’ Abe” sentiments I’m seeing . Don’t worry Theo will soon be an afterthought, Abe will once again be relegated to the background and Lani will be out of your favs orbit soon enough - Days never changes on matters of race and Ron is just the guy to carry on their vision.
  23. Not only don’t I trust Ron who has zero track record with doing anything positive for black characters, Days long has a history of being less that positive and forward thinking with black characters. I would not be surprised if the look at racial bias draws the conclusion that JJ was just a good, white cop, and potentially dead Theo was responsible for what happened to him. This will then allow them to put JJ and Gabi back together and get Claire and Trip together, thus sidelinugnthen black characters while the show and Ron claim they are forging new ground as they give us the same song and dance we always get.
