I was disappointed that they spoke of Brianna' s "real" father. Frank was her real father, in that he loved her and raised her as his own. Jamie's the bio-dad, in contemporary parlance. As an adopted child and the grandmother of an adopted child, I'm sensitive to the language used to describe parents. I thought Sandy was way out of line to speak to Claire in that manner at the dedication. What she said needed to be said, but wrong time, wrong place. Glad it didn't devolve into a catfight, a la Dynasty, though. Really liked the puddle transition.

Len Cariou has had a career that spans decades. I first saw him in The Four Seasons movie that starred Alan Alda and Carol Burnett. Check out his IMDB page here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0137230/ Glad to see Danny and the boys moving into the reality that is their life without Linda. I missed her at the dinner table! Had more than enough of Lorraine Bracco on Rizzoli & Isles so not pleased she was cast here. Good to see a storyline for Baker that gives her a little background.

I first became aware of Sam Waterston as an actor in the early 1990's series, I'll Fly Away, I love him as an actor. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101124/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_34 The scene of Robert and Grace shopping for a funeral outfit for his mother was so good. And I love that Robert bought the scarf for Grace, and the apology. I thought Frankie's reaction to Jacob's telling her that he might move to Santa Fe was probably how most people would react. And then they move on from that, and gain greater understanding of one another. I thought it just felt right. Mallory and her husband are not favorite characters of mine, but I felt sad for them, realizing their relationship, although not clearly doomed yet, was far from what either of them wanted. Who did Brianna call at the end? Was that her former employee?

Yes, to get her and Kenneth there. 10 weeks sounds really long to me. I went to music camp (decades ago) that was 6 weeks, and that seemed really long at the time. Most sleep-away camps that I'm aware of are a week or two at best, though I know longer ones exist. Jimmy was so sweet with Dylan. I worried about them getting back to the airport and through security before the next flight! But I generally schedule layovers for a couple of hours for domestic, so I'm pretty risk-averse. And also - aren't there beaches near where they are in California? So I suppose different ocean might be interesting, but not different enough from California beaches to make it worthwhile for me. Hope they're able to sort out the upper bunk thing for JJ!

Katie has been avoiding the mandatory volunteer hours at her kids' schools all year. But when the other moms pressure her, she hits on a genius excuse after wearing a fake pregnancy "empathy" bump leads everyone to think she is pregnant. Not the best episode of the season, but I did like the outtakes at the end. And the dance recital.

I still like all the teams still in the race, but I don't like Brooke. At all. I thought sure that Michael and Liz would be out based on the talking early in the episode, and I was glad it was an NEL. That said, with self-navigating and the speed bump they have coming, it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't last much longer. Not sorry "the guys" came in first. It's always more interesting when there's not one or two teams that dominate.

The character's name on Home Fires is AC Tom Halliwell. Thanks, IMDB!

I didn't think they were pushing her to bond, but rather to have no regrets, no "if only I'd gotten to see/hold the baby" moments after the adoption. And now that Marnie's no longer pregnant, and child care is available for the children, I think the assumption is that Marnie will be able to work to make some money, like the woman a couple of episodes ago who was able to get a council flat in another area, and get a job that paid enough that she and her children could get by. Marnie's husband left her in the lurch, with no money of her own. I did really feel for cousin Dot and her husband. They were so sweet, holding and feeding young Andrew Thomas. It really is one of those situations where no solution would be completely satisfactory to all parties. Can anyone explain registering the baby's birth with the council? Is that what's done in England? As an adopted person myself, I sort of knew what Tom was feeling. There are no pictures of me that I've seen when I was less than a couple of months old, and none that exist from when I was in foster care until I was 18 months, when I was adopted.

Thanks to both of you! I do sort of remember that now., thanks for jogging my memory!

I am always impressed with the clothing choices and that the characters are allowed to appear tired, disheveled, etc. But the makeup last night was amazing! Both the cesarean birth and the man blinded in the fire were so realistic, it was painful to watch. I also like that even with less-than-completely-happy endings, it's still a very upbeat, positive show. Loved the poem from Phyllis this week, and the words of Julian of Norwich last week. I've wanted to visit her cell at Norwich, but haven't yet been able to. Maybe next year... I hope Patsy is able to reach her father before he dies. Did we know about her mother and sister before? Or why they were POWs? I don't recall.

Loved Kenneth getting a 98 on the test!

Yes, they were. Not for every school, but for some. I remember my daughter (graduated high school in 1989) having one or two interviews. The recruiter came to our small city, though, she didn't have to travel. I remember when the Michael Keaton Batman movie came out, it was such a huge departure from the TV show. Loved the "movie" Adam, Pops, and Barry were making, with Beverly flinging open the window!

At least we got happy endings, unlike some other episodes. I thought of the one where the children are sent to Australia to be adopted, and with our knowledge now that many (most?) of those situations didn't turn out well. I was glad the voiceover told how Trudy and her children went on to build a better life for the family, and broke the cycle of abuse that we saw with her mother. Her mother was abused herself, but piled it on Trudy. Trudy did well by escaping all that. Either we'll learn more about Sister Ursula and how she came to be tapped to head Nonnatus House, and some of what is revealed will redeem her character somewhat, or she'll continue to be a beeyotch and they'll eventually be rid of her. I hope. What did Sister Julienne do that opposed Sr Ursula's authority? Bringing the in-labor mother into the house instead of taking her to the hospital? Sr Ursula did show a spark of compassion for Mickey, but that's not enough to redeem her in my eyes.

It's in my local listings for tonight, along with Call the Midwife and the re-airing of Wolf Hall! So eager for these to return!

Good: Jay Mohr as Alan, insufferable neighbor Viv's husband. The loving scene at the end with Katie and Greg. Bad: The kids as disobedient brats - Oliver and Taylor. Indifferent: Anna-Kat. And who names their daughter Anna-Kat? Aren't you just asking for quirky behavior? I like both the leads. Mixon was funny on Mike & Molly, and has a nice singing voice. I always liked Bader on Drew Carey, too. I enjoy the "second breakfast" scenes with Katie's friends.

Liked this episode! The shout-out to Christmas Story (Oh, fuuuudge - but I didn't say fudge - straight out of Christmas Story!) was great. Also, as a current Williamsburg, Virginia resident very familiar with Colonial Williamsburg, I loved that they ended up going to Colonial Williamsburg!

AMC Has Renewed Turn For A Fourth And Final Season
zoey1996 replied to Primetimer's topic in Turn: Washington's Spies [V]
Turn was filming here in Williamsburg Virginia on Monday. I didn't get over to see any of it. Really looking forward to Season 4! -
I missed that part, thank you. Makes more sense now.

It bothered me when it was said that Happy doesn't have a dad now. Yes, she does, and she can visit him from time to time. Cabe can still be a "father figure" but he is not her dad.

Oops indeed! Sorry!

I really like the Toyota "dog tested, dog approved" commercials. They're all funny, but I really like the one where they go to the restaurant and come out carrying doggie bags! And then a cat is the valet!

I didn't figure that out until the kiss accusation. Felt sad for the soldier female after the friend was so upset at being deceived. I mean, I get it, but it seemed unnecessarily cruel. The peaches on the tarts brought to mind The Caine Mutiny and Captain Queeq raving about strawberries. The McBurney character reminds me a bit of Simcoe from Turn, Washington's Spies. And not in a good way.

Dolly Parton's Coat Of Many Colors (NBC) - General Discussion
zoey1996 replied to Tara Ariano's topic in TV Movies
I watched this last night. As I recall, there was a voice-over that said they burned what furniture they could, but it didn't last that long. If the blizzard was that bad, probably no one could get to them to check on them. Grandpa had driven to where Lee was working, so he couldn't come either. I grew up in the country on a farm in Kansas, and I remember some storms where the road maintainer (snow plow) didn't make it out our way for at least a couple of days. Dad had a tractor with a snow plow and did our long drive way (1/4 of a mile) but couldn't really do the five miles into town. No cab on the tractor, either, so plenty cold! Parts of the show were pretty hokey/cheesy, but overall I enjoyed the story. -
I just watched a season 6 episode on Hulu, but it does say, "Expiring soon."

I had no idea, and I'm a faithful viewer of Madam Secretary! It'll be interesting to watch her in both roles!
