But he'd like to know where he needs to walk in the event that he has to turn them on. Which would likely be in a highly stressful situation. While I don't know if "golden tickets" or "challenge coins" exist in LAPD country, I took a class in high school taught in part by an NYPD beat cop. He said that if you make a big arrest, you can get promoted to detective, or you could ask for a better post. A friend of his chose the latter and wanted to work on Staten Island near the ferry which is historically a low crime area. Maybe Chen will be offered the opportunity to choose her own T.O. Of course, she would stick w/ Bradford. It's a shame that she already can be in short sleeves, because that would have made a nice perk of the arrest.

Jenny Calendar: What the Hell is a Technopagan?

Robia became very religious. I dimly recall her saying that she wouldn't play evil again. Or something like that. -
Have you ever bought one of those plastic bag ponchos at a sporting event? They come in this teeny tiny package. Once you remove the poncho, there's no way you can fold that thing small enough to get it back in the wrapping. They also are one size fits all, but I guess that's easier for a rain poncho than a tuxedo - especially a tuxedo that meets Tahani's proper formal requirements. I thought that the four subjects thought Tahani worked for Eleanor and Michael and wasn't a resident like they were.

Was this show on at 8 PM (EST) last season?

Yeah, dogs, babies, and characters that I absolutely cannot stand have the strongest plot armor. Rams, maybe. But LA folks stay away from Chargers' games in droves.

S04.E06: A Chip Driver Mystery

Dante put those of good moral character who lived before Christ in the First Circle of Hell b/c they were unable to ask for last rites and be truly absolved for any of the sins they might have committed. They didn't suffer too much, but they also were not allowed to get into Paradise. From what we've been told so far, nobody's been able to accumulate enough points to get into the Good Place b/c of the interconnectedness of society. Even if what you do locally is good (like growing your own food w/o using dangerous pesticides), that could hurt the people who work on the farms elsewhere who lose their jobs if too many people do the same thing. So, to try to answer your question, then yes, the person who hates others, etc., would go to the Bad Place b/c they wouldn't accumulate enough points, even if they did a lot of good things for those close to them. In fact, let's not even go so far as to say that they hate others, but just don't give any thought to other people and their travails. That could result in them losing points if they buy goods from countries where these people work and are slaves or are paid horrible wages. They too would end up in the Bad Place. -
Don't be ridiculous. They hire contractors to do that in every country Red visits. Just in case.

Lawyer boyfriend walked towards him trying to placate him. When she was let go, he was close to blond criminal and that's when he got stabbed.

Me too. I read all the Bourne novels. This show's confusing b/c not only are we going back and forth in two time periods, but we are dealing w/ stories taking place over three continents. We really don't know how all these stories tie together. Hopefully that information will be revealed and soon.

Or Nolan will grab the controller and first deactivate then land the nuke b/c he had just finished playing video games w/ his son.

S04.E06: A Chip Driver Mystery

It will be interesting to see what the guy residing in Chekhov's penis in Mindy's house has to say if he explains how the points were distributed as opposed to just giving totals. -
You're quite welcome.

I love both episodes. A good day in Buffy history.

I don't know why Beer Bad gets so much hate. I really enjoy the episode. Most subversive PSA ever. And really, in season 4 alone, you have WTWTA and Superstar a/k/a Jane Espenson's One-Note Love Letter to Danny Strong. Both much worse episodes.
-
Yeah, but then he let the guy get in another shot before he could finish handcuffing him and ended up getting sprayed in the face with ... something.

S04.E06: A Chip Driver Mystery

I think the Brent character serves a purpose in the experiment, but so far, he's been too one-note and, as you say, boring. I agree. Brent failing to improve (or only improving a little) doesn't mean the experiment was a failure. It just means that there's a good reason to still have a Bad Place. Remember that the Bad Place had the pick of the first four subjects. By making Simone one of them, they shook up Team Cockroach. In that sense, Shawn's plan worked. (Someone else made this point upthread, and better than I did.) I did enjoy the scenes between Michael and Bad Janet. Both such wonderful actors who play off each other really well. I agree w/ another poster who said that the test is actually for The Soul Squad. Actually, I believe it's for both the four human test subjects as well as our original gang. After all, Eleanor., Tahani, Jason, and Michael are not trying to get the subjects to improve so they can go to the Good Place. They are doing it so humanity will have the chance. And they're suffering trying to accomplish this by running the test. That's altruism. -
S04.E05: Employee of the Bearimy

Not a computer. Not an operating system. Not an application. Now that that's out of my system (not a system), Bad Janet said that she was rebooted often (don't recall how many times) so she could pass as Good Janet. Given that, I can see how she could keep the neighborhood going. Also, Sean was taken to task already for interfering w/ the experiment. If Bad Janet just stopped doing whatever she does to keep the neighborhood going, as opposed to little things that muck up what's happening, Gen could end the experiment and declare the Soul Squad the winners. Or some other punishment given to Sean. As for Derek, he also has seen many reboots since Mindy does it when she's angry or bored, and that's pretty often. As a result, he's able to keep the neighborhood going, even if he does a poor job. -
Present day in the show is today, not 1997.

According to what Kate said, that was only b/c she didn't know about and wasn't invited to the wedding. She said in either the first or second episode that if she had known, she would have come back to stop the wedding from happening. I thought that was a bad choice for TPTB to make b/c in a new series, making your hero(ine) a stalker right at the start isn't a good look. I do agree w/ the rest of your take on the situation.

I think Lucas can pull off wearing the wig, but I'm not sure if he'll be able to get his entire feet in the boots.

Holy recollection Tennisgurl! Great catch!

He's been in everything, but I first saw him in The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. A peek at his imdb page is like a trip down genre TV memory lane.

I'm with you here. And Pimento was far better than the character he played on The League. But, he's really funny here and also doing a nice job of showing us how Derek is Dereking more (or is less) every time he's rebooted. One or two episodes ago, Eleanor pushed Chidi to help Simone by telling him that Simone was his soul mate. I guess they're relationship has progressed from there. Don't be harshing on Glenn. Jason did consult him during the trip to The Bad Place and Glenn gave a very supportive and enthusiastic "glurp."* I've always enjoyed Tahani and Eleanor plots, so it was great seeing Tahani's insecurities come to the fore and Eleanor, in her own way, helping and supporting her. How were Michael and Jason going to rescue Janet if it hadn't been Demon Con time? Did Michael know it was? Did Glenn "glurp" the information to him? Also, don't magnets make Janets drunk or am I mistaken on that point? Eh, I guess it could be due to all the reboots Janet has gone through and Bad Janet did say that she also was rebooted enough times to be able to pass for our Janet. *That's the way I heard it, but I didn't have close captioning so it might not have sounded exactly like that. -
The problem I see with this is that Mindy was put into a universe where she was literally the only other person / being. How could she improve and learn to help others selflessly when there's nobody else around? She was put there well before Michael's experiment began so I doubt that "The Good Place" torture gambit was in anyone's mind at that point in time.
