Im sorry I have to respectfully totally disagree. Tammy and Amy are far more fun, humorous and entertaining than those freaks. Tammy is nowhere near as bad as the sadistic and twisted Steven. They also somewhat get along and you can tell that they do have some love for each other. If nothing else they know how to cut up, laugh and have a good time. The Assantis hated each other and never saw anything remotely fun from either of them.

Amy, Tammy, and the Family Slaton+
Joan van Snark replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in 1,000-LB Sisters
Can anyone explain the Amy and Tammy family tree? I always assumed Amy and Tammy were both Slatons and full sisters. Their mother Darlene Rednour has a Facebook page. I believe Rednour was her married name from a later in life marriage from her husband that passed away (no children from that union). Then we learn Chris's last name is Combs so he must be a half brother. I think Misty is also a half sister - FB shows her last name as Wentworth but I assume that is her married name. Then there another sister Amanda, who's last name is Halterman, which is also Amy's husband's last name! I believe I read somewhere that there is another Slaton (full blooded?) brother named Stephen. Does anyone know the answer? Seems to me that Darlene must have been married to both a Combs and a Slaton. I'm pretty sure Chris is Darlene's son as he was included in the FB pictures of her wedding giving her away. I dont know if they have other half siblings from their father's side or if all the siblings share Darlene as a mother. -
I cant help but like Tammy and Amy to a certain extent. I am sure Tammy's petulance and assholish behavior is mostly her lashing out from severe depression. The ONLY answer for her is to go back to the rehab and stay there for a year or more with serious psychological therapy. I get it that walking is painful for her, but if she doesnt start trying its only going to get worse. Does she think it will magically not hurt anymore one day? Amy is not perfect by any means but I do think she is in a much better place than she was before and I love hearing her say things like that her life now has purpose. I feel she is at least moving in the right direction, although she needs therapy as well.

Ugh....wayyyy too much time spent on the really unfunny 'humor' of the hosts. None of the contestants don't seem like very accomplished bakers, either.

Ultimate Girls Trip: Season 1
Joan van Snark replied to NotChristine's topic in The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip
Agreed on what pretty much everyone else has said. Ramona had ramped up the assholish behavior to quantum levels, which is kind of funny but is getting to be ridiculous. I agree though that Ramona is usually not specifically mean to anyone, except maybe the 'staff'. I used to find Cynthia pretty well adjusted, but she is such a sourpuss on this trip. I think her head has swelled signficantly from when we first met her as Nene's approval seeking lapdog. If I ever have to hear "My Bailey-Que" again....it's a barbecue bitch. Tre is surprisingly quiet and introverted and somewhat likeable here. Who woulda thunk it. Lu is pretty much the same as usual--seems to be able to get along with everyone. I know a lot strongly dislike Kyle, but she's never really bothered me and despite being from Beverly Hills seems more 'normal' and down-to-Earth than any of the others. Kenya is a damaged, vicious vindictive person. I haven't watched Atlanta since it slid into the gutter years ago but I've seen plenty of her slightly crazy behavior. I wish they would do this with a few more ladies (maybe 8?) so we could see more interactions.- 220 replies

I still sort of like Tammy and can sympathize with her. I know what depression is like and I can only imagine the feeling of being trapped in a prison that's your own body. I think she loves Amy but I am sure there are feelings of abandonment and desperation at the fact that Amy is moving in a positive direction and she is still going the opposite. I'm sure she's given up and feels like she might as well give herself some pleasure through eating what she likes. If I were Chris there is no way I would have driven 8 hours (that's a LONNNG ride) to pick her up when it is so painfully obvious she needed to stay at the rehab. I wonder if they could no longer afford it? However, all feelings of sympathy were lost at her reaction to the very nice gift of the table and cooktop. That was a very nice and very useful gift. She obviously expects Amy to continue to do everything for her. Amy thinks she's helping but is killing Tammy through her enabling. Maybe they'd have better luck if Chris was Tammy's primary caregiver as he seems to be the only one not afraid to call Tammy on her bullshit.

Social Media: What's Up With Her?
Joan van Snark replied to ClareWalks's topic in My Big Fat Fabulous Life
Mamadrama, I think someone mentioned this theory on one of the episode threads (maybe it was you?) which makes total sense. Not trying to be mean, but let's face facts. A young lean supposedly very attractive man (per Heather, Babs and Ashley) is very unlikely to be sexually attracted to a woman that morbidly obese unless he has a fetish of some kind. Even Buddy, who is no physical specimen himself, is NOT attracted to her physically. I'm not trying to fat shame - It's just a fact. I can see the Frenchman being friends with Whitney, but in no way did I ever believe Chase was attracted to her nor the French man. What makes it somewhat believable on a surface level is how convincingly Whitney makes it seem like these relationships are real (and they probably ARE real in her mind). Is she really willing to make a complete sham of herself and make herself look like a total fool for the sake of this show? If that's the case, how do all of her friends and family go through with it with a straight face? I like Glenn and he seems like a decent man and from what I understand is a high ranking executive in some type of manufacturing company. Does he not know that these relationships are fake? Is he willing to risk his professional reputation and play along with these falsehoods? Are he, Hunter and Babs not let in on the truth? Even if they aren't, how do they not figure out something just ain't right? I could almost see Babs going along with it because she has fallen in love with being on camera just as much as Whit has, but not Glenn and almost certainly not Hunter. In all the years this show has been out, how is it possible that one of the barnacles hasn't slipped up and mentioned the 'truth' to the wrong person? How in the world did they convince Chase to pretend like he was engaged and gong to marry this woman? I know people will say it's because of TLC money, but from what I understand these shows do NOT pay a lot of money for on air 'talent' at all. Was a couple thousand worth making yourself look like a fool? When he was being viciously attacked on social media for getting the woman he was really dating all along pregnant and dumping Whitney--how did he or someone in his family not tell the truth of what was really going on? I just find all of this fascinating! Maybe I'm wrong and Chase and the Frenchman were/are really attracted to her? Maybe one day after Whitney becomes totally unglued, has a mental breakdown, and eats her way into Dr. Now's office one of the barnacles will finally tell the real story. Someone please help me to understand! -
I have enjoyed the show, but I guess it is sort of necessary in a dramatized, few hours long series, that they greatly exaggerate how fast people can become addicted. It rarely happens after taking the pills for a couple of weeks. Usually it takes several months of continuous use to become desperately addicted like some of the people portrayed on the show. And not every user gets to the point where they steal from their parents, prostitutes, breaks into pharmacies, etc. When they run out they just get sick and deal with it.

Is this damn French man ever going to show up???

S09.E08: A Big Fat Disappointment
Joan van Snark replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in My Big Fat Fabulous Life
I am going to be really p---ed off if we don't get to see LeBlur by the end of the season. I have never in my life seen a show with the 'for reasons xxx a person on this program has chosen to be blurred' except on crime shows. Is that message really necessary at the beginning of every episode??? I have seen the picture of who sleuthers think is probably him on reddit. He looks kind of cute in a way although I've only seen one or 2 awkward angled pictures, but not 'verrry attractive' as Heather described him or worthy of panting and hot sweats. It appears he is most likely of Middle Eastern/North African descent (I love handsome olive colored men) and I think his voice is kind of sexy. However, unless he has a thing for extremely morbidly obese women, I can't imagine Whitney will hold much allure for him, especially after they meet in person. I think Whitney has a bright personality and can probably be somewhat interesting until you actually get to know her as the soul sucking black hole she has revealed herself to be on the show. I agree with the poster upthread mentioning Chase's nasty moustache. When we first met him I thought he was moderately attractive and certainly a catch for Whitney. But the more I saw of him I noticed that he always appeared greasy, sloppy and socially awkward. While in the shallow end of the pool, might as well mention there's something about Tal that turns me off...probably the combination of the pasty complexion, the pointy/elfin features and bald head, the nearly black eyes, and the giant tufts of chest hair always bursting out of his shirts. And I can't stand when they show Todd dancing and he starts all that awkward ballet pirouette stuff. I have never seen anything that either he or Whitney does that is impressive dance-wise. They both look like self taught low level amateurs to me. Todd is also very socially awkward and dresses absolutely horribly. I sometimes have trouble understanding what he's saying because he speaks in such a strange rapid-fire singsong fashion. -
S09.E07: Chase'n the Frenchman
Joan van Snark replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in My Big Fat Fabulous Life
I get the sentiment from the comment above, but in reality what would TLC pay Chase to make a cameo appearance? From what I understand, even the 'main stars' of these shows get paid what $10-15K an episode? I seriously doubt they are paying Chase more than a couple hundred dollars (if even that) to appear. I think it's more about getting to be on Teevee (or he was fulfilling a contractual agreement to appear in a certain number of episodes). I would think the only people getting paid anything worth mentioning would be Whitney, Babs & Glen, and MAYBE Buddy. I seriously doubt Buddy makes more than $10K a season from this. I could be wrong. I'm very curious to know the reality though if anyone has a clue! That's why the networks love to make these shows as the 'talent' is so cheap! I remember reading somewhere that TLC doesn't even pay the 90 Day people for their travel expenses. -
I usually don’t notice the models too much but Daniels male model was finnnnnnne! Wish I knew his name. I saw he modeled for Daniel in the finale as well

S11.E17: A Tale of Two Accidents
Joan van Snark replied to Door County Cherry's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
I used to loathe him, but I have to admit that I actually LOVE PEE KAY (aka Pig K) now! Never thought I'd say that! Not sure why they all treat Erika with kid gloves. Does Andy have some special relationship with her that they're afraid to be axed if they fall out of favor with her? She really isn't well known or popular with the general public. Are they really that afraid of her vicious attacks? I would have loved for Sutton to ask what Erika could possibly threaten her with. She has no power or pull as far as I can see. -
S11.E14: Lips Unsealed
Joan van Snark replied to jewel21's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
As loathe as I am to agree with Erika Jayne, I agree somewhat that Sutton is kind of ridiculous to worry about her 'reputation' with the charity boards and social clubs. Every single person that is affiliated with those organizations knows that Sutton is on this show--they know she has nothing personally to do with Erika's possible misdeeds. So I agree it is a little ridiculous for Sutton to be worried about how this might affect her because Erika is right--Sutton has nothing to do with it. The way Sutton herself has behaved on the show at times would be enough to damage her reputation lol. I do agree however with Sutton's assessment of the situation and that something isn't adding up in Erika's story. I admire that she was the one with the guts to actually voice what they were all probably thinking. -
Yes, GG is the only one I really like on this show, although the fact she raised someone as suspect as Derrico tells me the more we see of her the less we might like her. I believe "Mama" must have been his grandmother because he mentioned earlier a grandmother and brother suffering strokes. I'll have to watch again to see if it looks like the ambulance was at the house or some studio somewhere. I thought most of these shows filmed the "Talking Heads" in the participants actual homes but maybe that's not always the case. I suppose there would be plenty of production facilities available in Las Vegas.
-
It looked to me like the ambulance was in front of their house, but maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention. Regardless, unless it was a recreation scene being filmed, the response that GG and Eric had to the news of a possible stroke of a 41 yo mother of 14 seemed very off. If I really thought my wife possibly had a stroke, I wouldn't be filming personal interviews and fake crying to the camera about it. I don't even recall the Duggars doing stuff like that in the medical emergencies that have happened on that show.

I can't stand Poppy / Deon / Derrico / Derrick / Defecate or whatever his name is. He is a terrible actor and it's obvious everything is always about him. Something is seriously off with the parents. I can't quite put my finger on it. Why was Eric sleeping on the floor? I was reading on Reddit the apparently he's married, yet it seems like he spends every waking moment with these people. The whole arrangement seems so strange. Poppy seemed to be beaming when him and Eric were alone in the snow holding hands looking for bears. How stupid. He looked like a total fool armed with his bear pepper spray. That scene was cringe-worthy. I cannot stand his fake crying/emotional testimonials to the camera. I'm not a doctor, but the whole stroke/back spasm thing was odd. Does a back spasm render you barely able to speak? Can a back spasm really paralyze one side of your body? I also don't understand how the kids/GG/Eric were seemingly unaware that any of this happened. How did they not notice the ambulance with flashing lights in front of the house, several paramedics inside, and Karen being wheeled out on a stretcher? In the scene were Poppy was explaining to GG and Eric that his wife had maybe just had a STROKE! they both stood there with rather blank expressions and seemed to have no emotional response. I would think news of that type would elicit a much different response than what we witnessed. I wouldn’t put it past either of those two to fake the whole thing to further the storyline. Karen needs to pick up a dictionary and look up OCD, because she obviously doesn’t know the definition. I am obviously not a Poppy fan, but I agree with him that the idea to move 14 kids across the country, buy acres of land, build a big new house, and opened a MANUFACTURING FACILITY! Is NOT a decision you make within 5 seconds! The fact that he exercises control over the family’s decision making process is not a symptom of OCD! Neither is wanting a clean house or a well decorated Christmas tree. If they can’t afford a bigger house in Vegas, where are they getting the capital to buy all this imaginary land, build a new dream mansion, and buy all of the equipment and build/rent a manufacturing facility across the country? I like Karen’s idea to manufacture in America, but there’s a reason most of that stuff is made offshore---American labor is not cheap! I think she is planning on using her cousins/siblings to do all the work and babysit her kids for next to nothing. She also needs to look up the definition of bi-coastal. Vegas Is hundreds of miles from the Pacific and doesn’t even border the ocean, and her hometown of Kingstree, SC isn’t near the Atlantic coast either. Lastly, I know it’s mean but I hate when the kids sing. It’s virtually the exact same song every time with lyrics adjusted to fit the situation with the clapping. There is no little Michael Jackson in this group because none of them seems particularly talented musically. Something also irks me about small children talking about their mother being ‘lit’. Does anyone know if Derrico is GG's maiden name? Last night I learned that Derrico didnt really have a relationship with his dad and I think he was born when GG was 15 and unmarried so I assume he did not take the father's last name. Do they have Italian heritage?

S06.E15: Time Does Not Heal All Wounds
Joan van Snark replied to greekmom's topic in 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I share the sentiments of most of the Pillow Talk couples that are firmly on Mike's side. Treeeesh should stay out of her son's love life, but I believe she is completely right about Natalie. If I was a parent it would be hard for me to keep my mouth shut if I saw my child being used for a Green Card. Natalie is a complete whackjob and so disrespectful to Mike. I think Mike is a much nicer person than her. Natalie thinks she's better than him because she's more attractive. Her, the Wiccan Freakshow and Pulya Pulya belong together. And Natalie, I guess you are somewhat attractive, but not NEARLY as good looking as you think you are, and you have absolutely no prospects for being on Teevee (except for this show) or whatever career in media she was rambling on to Treeesh about. A TV station is not going to hire a mush-mouthed nutjob with a very heavy accent. I will admit that part of this is Mike's fault. He wants to score a woman that is more attractive than himself. Since he really has no money and not much of a personality, the only way he can get what he wants is by looking for a foreign wife. He may need to rethink his strategy and look for someone that is a better fit for himself. -
Yes Rinna's house is 'outdated' by BH standards. It is cluttered and very faux Tuscan. I actually think that is Harry and not Rinna--it seems obvious to me that Harry Hamlin is an Italophile from the 3 years he lived in Italy and is trying to recreate an Italian vibe in his home. I actually love Erica's new house. The bathroom with the Martinique (banana leaf) wallpaper looks really cool and reminds me of Blanche Devereaux, which is always a good thing in my book! I wonder if Mikey is living in the attic? I don't think they have basements in SoCal.

S11.E06: The Liberation of Erika Jayne
Joan van Snark replied to jewel21's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
The 4 bedrooms are all probably giant en suites with their own bathrooms and huge closets. Erika's 'chapel' is probably a converted bedroom. I hope she spent some time on her knees repenting in there before she moved out. Then there are probably other rooms that could be bedrooms as others said being used as closets, game rooms, offices, etc. I don't think that house was butt ugly as others have commented. It was actually very tastefully decorated, if slightly dated. Love the yellow chinese wallpaper in the dining room. Doesnt look like Erika had a hand in decorating it other than her photos pasted all over the walls. The outside of Kyle's house is great but the inside, not so much. She needs to fire Fay as a decorator. -

Joan van Snark replied to jewel21's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
I think it is really a stretch to try to insinuate race into the Sutton/Crystal incident. I don't see how either of their ethnic backgrounds played any part whatsoever in what happened with the coat in the bedroom! -
Just discovered this show and Full Bloom via the HBO Max app. So happy to have found some programs that involve artistic creation and aren't too over the top with ridiculous time limits and stupid challenge ideas. I have only seen the first 2 episodes and started the Raku episode this morning but only got about 20 minutes in before having to leave for work. My grandmother used to have a little building/shed behind the house with a wheel and kiln. She made lots of pieces and Raku was her specialty, so I can really relate to this show. Not sure if this has been mentioned, but what is up with the male judge's hair? I have never seen a balding man gel and tease the remaining strands in such an odd way. It is not a very good look and it's the only thing I can see when I look at him!

To me this way of thinking is so dangerous. One of the judges is black. The two male judges are gay (not sure about Elizabeth) and thus part of a minority group and all three are obviously very progressive and inclusive of all races/sexual preferences, etc. I don't think the final two being white men had anything to do with them being picked because they were favored as white men. How are we ever supposed to have fair competitions if people are always claiming its 'rigged' because there is not a woman, a person of a certain race, etc. in the finale. It should be based solely on the strength of their designs (which I feel it was with these judges). Should there be some type of quota that says a woman or a person of a certain race should be in the finale just because of what they are rather than the quality of their designs??? As for the show itself--had no idea it existed but I found it randomly in the HBO Max app and ended up binging the entire first season on my day off yesterday. I love flowers and gardening. At first I thought the judges were WAY too extra and that they would be supremely annoying, but they actually grew on me (especially Maurice). I liked most of the contestants, too, although Justin's over the top melodrama was starting to grate. If anything, I thought they kept him on way longer than he should have been there because they felt sorry for him. You would think he is the first gay black man on the planet based on some of the things he was saying. I thought he was easily one of the weakest, most inexperienced florists (I think I heard him claim gladioli were tropical at one point). He does seem like a very sweet, gentle man though so I was glad to see him gain some confidence in himself. I get the feeling he was very repressed his whole life. I wish they had more time and were allowed some more instances to just create beautiful arrangements without the crazy themes because a lot of those team challenges ended up looking like ass. But all in all I liked it more than I thought I would.

Is Eboni going to turn EVERYTHING into a racial topic? Admonishing Ramona for her 'white fragility' because she was annoyed at all the shouting and asked everything to be quiet???? WT everliving F??? Mama June: From Not To Hot: Seasons 1-6
Joan van Snark replied to Aethera's topic in Mama June: From Not To Hot
June is disgusting. She is perhaps more vile and self-centered than Teresa Guidice and that is a high (or low?) bar to clear. She really thinks just because she is 'sober' now that everyone should just forget all of her horrible selfish actions like they never occurred. I actually think GENO is the voice of reason and he actually seems contrite about his role in everything that went on. I wasn't really following the season where all the addiction issues were going on, but I have the feeling that June was probably the one that initiated the drug use. I do have to say that from what we see on the show, Josh seems like a pretty solid and caring man. I hope Pumpkin realizes what she has there. I'm also impressed with the way he cares for and is protective of Alana. He also actually seems to work a real job instead of being lazy and trying to make a living off of a show that won't last forever (cough... Zach Roloff....)- 1.8k replies
