90DF Live Chat 3: I Gave Up Everything To Be Here

Yay Debbie....someone finally cuts it off before going through a bunch of bullshit. Rishi's woman needs to take a hint! -
Thank you for more eloquently expressing what I was saying in my post. What qualifications does she have to be an advocate other than she is trans and has been on a TV show? If she continues on at Harvard, maybe she'll end up taking a class that really resonates with her and she'll find something she wants to do with her life. And, as you stated, a degree would give her credibility no matter which career path she chooses. The girl is just so entitled and lazy. It's all the parents' fault for catering to her every whim. I remember when she tried to steamroll her dad into paying for breast implants. Does she not realize these surgeries cost tons of dough?

S04.E05: Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread
Joan van Snark replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in 1,000-LB Sisters
As a lifelong resident of Louisiana, I agree pretty much with your statement. Traditional Louisiana food is well seasoned and may be somewhat spicier than say traditional Midwest or Deep South cuisine, but outside of specific dishes (sauce piquant, for example) it is not exceptionally spicy. The most common 'hot' spice actually included in the cooking process is ground cayenne pepper and most recipes call for 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon for the entire dish. It was Prudhomme's invention of blackened redfish, in which a redfish filet was coated in a spice rub and melted butter and then cooked at very high heat that became his most famous dish. More than anything, I think the media assumed all of Louisiana dishes were as spicy as the blackened redfish and ran with it---thus the misconception was born. Prudhomme seasoned his food very well and may have enjoyed spicy food, but owning many of his cookbooks, most of his recipes are not exceedingly spicy. -
So happy for Tammy that she actually did so well and exceeded the weight loss goal by 15 pounds! You can tell she went through a lot of bad stuff as a child because she doesn't even really know how to act when she is happy. I hope she can finally find some way to heal.

S08.E01: How Jazz Got Her Groove Back
Joan van Snark replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in I Am Jazz
I was watching some of the earlier season episodes on Discovery+ that I had never seen before. It is amazing Jazz's every whim is indulged! Jazz (paraphrasing) "I don't like my breasts and they aren't perfect enough....I need surgery in a couple months at most". Greg's initial reaction is basically WTF you're not even done growing yet, and of course Jeanette is for it because it will help Jazz's depressed mental state. No mention is made of the COST of this unnecessary elective surgery, of course. Thousands or probably millions of women don't have 'perfect' breasts and would love to enhance them, but in the real world, that doesn't happen for most of them. But nothing is too good for Jazz! They mention the potential surgery to Jack and Jacky at a golf outing, and Jacky astutely observes "if Jazz wanted a pink poodle, a pink poodle would appear at the house in a few days", basically stating that Jazz doesn't know the meaning of the word NO! That is why she is so incredibly spoiled. She has no concept of how lucky she is to have a father that is able to afford all of these surgeries and treatments, and she seems to think this elective procedures must be provided to her as inalienable rights. I get the sense Noelle gets supremely annoyed with Jazz for these same reasons based on looks and sly comments I've noticed. When was the last time Noelle was even on the show? I assume it must be exhausting to be around LOOK AT ME ME ME! Jazz all the time. Good on Ari and Griffin that they seem very accomplished and are on their way to well paying and fulfilling careers. WTH happened to Sander? I can imagine him in 15 years, still living in the parents house, making cringe-y 'Ally' videos, except with a beer gut and a giant bald spot. -
S04.E02: Can't Have Your Cake and Eat It Too

I would bet my life that Misty is NOT a full sister of Tammy and Amy. Misty is the oldest, and I believe she has a different father than any of the others. -

Actually Darlene said she was the first SLATON to graduate with honors. Misty, Chris and Amanda are NOT Slatons. -

Very astute observation RedDelicious. I myself sometimes am unnerved and feel inferior when around a really attractive, well put together person like the therapist. I find it easier to converse with more 'down to earth' folks and I bet Tammy is intimidated by her, although at least the therapist seems kind and is trying. I really like the change in Tammy this season and was so disappointed by her setback. I was impressed that she actually has the ability to choose bad foods and access to fast food and has seemingly been choosing well, or at least much better. I love seeing Tammy light up when Gage is around. I have always found that Tammy seems much more intelligent than Amy. Amy definitely likes to be the 'skinny' one out of the 2 sisters. If I have the family tree correct, I think Darlene has had children from 3 different men. Misty - I think Darlene had her young and was not married at the time Chris & Amanda - I believe they are full siblings and their father is a Combs Tammy & Amy - they are full siblings and their father was a Slaton. I think there is a Slaton brother (Steven?) that we have not seen on the show. I have also noticed that Misty, Chris and Amanda are more well spoken and normal-seeming than Tammy and Amy. I wonder what the different fathers were like. -
S07.E22: Tell All Part 4
Joan van Snark replied to greekmom's topic in 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After
Great post! I live about 20 miles from where Yara and Jovi now live and Ms. Gwen is exactly right. That is quite a drive from where she lives, including driving through the traffic in Jefferson Parish (adjacent to New Orleans) and then across the 30 mile Causeway bridge. Jovi is obviously willing to do anything to try to make Yara happy, including dumping on his own mother. I totally agree- what is magically available in Florida that will make Yara happy? Is Jovi willing to dump a well paying career just to please her? Is he going to be able to continue working offshore if he lives in Florida? If not he will be throwing away a very lucrative career that would set him up well for the rest of his (and his daughters) life. I think Yara would totally leave Jovi if something better came along. Jovi is immature and has faults, but he seems like a decent guy and I feel sorry for him. -
Spring Baking Championship - General Discussion

I know I am very late, but my Apple TV started playing this show after the one I was watching before ended. Never before have I seen the host actually drive away one of the final competitors!!!! This b*tch wants a talented professional French baker to use her SPRINKLES in one of the final challenges. Gah she is horrible!!! I couldn't believe Romy just walked out of the door and then they just cut to the 3 remaining bakers with hardly any reaction of what happened from the judges the other competitors or even Molly. Why does she keep referring to the stage as her 'Farm'? And why are all the challenges related to her or things she picked? WAY TOO MUCH Molly Yeh. Who asked for her? I can't imagine there is a big demand. I honestly would have preferred Ree as the host, and that's sayin something.- 3.1k replies

Holiday Baking Championship - General Discussion

Well in this case, the praise for Dru's cake far exceeded the praise for any of the others. Carla was asking for a go box and I think Nancy did her symphony hands thing. I have made a banana chocolate cake from Rose Levy Berenbaum's Cake Bible that is amazing so that is why I thought Dru's sounded so good. I don't have a lot of experience with passionfruit but I think it is slightly tart which sounds like a good counterpoint to all the sweetness and richness. I'm at a loss though, what sweet ingredients scream Switzerland other than chocolate and dairy? Honestly I wasn't really that thrilled with any of these finalists. Usually there is at least one pro experienced baker that is really good at decorations that I love to watch. Seems like the only one even close to that was Aaron and he is still very young. None of these people really blew me away at all although they were all pleasant and nice. I also thought there were a lot of weird and dumb challenge themes this season also. I predict this will fade into one of the more forgettable seasons in time. -

EXACTLY! What is in the world does SWEDISH have to do with the Swiss Alps????? Was that just someone in production making a mistake that no one noticed???? And I agree with Drew, the Swiss are known for making the finest chocolates, and Im sure they use banana and passion fruit in some of the candies they make. His cake flavors sounded amazing to me, and from what the judges said, sounds like it was. Wasn't the biggest fan of his missile silo, but none of the others blew me away so I was good with the win. -
I HATE HATE that Tanya died. I really liked her this season much more and I thought for sure she would somehow against all odds and without much of her own effort somehow turn the tables and escape the killers. Or maybe they would show her to be a little more clever than we've been led to believe she is. I dont know if I buy that Tanya would know how to fire a gun, much less take out nearly everyone on board, I guess it was stupid irony that she would hit her head on the boat trying to escape, but dammit I wanted her to make it. It infuriated me how long it took Portia to try to do anything to help Tanya. Why didnt she try to call her when Jack gave her the phone back? I felt the couples' resolutions were kind of lackluster, and can't believe Dom caved and gave that girl 50K Euros! I really think I would have been more impressed if somehow all of the different stories kind of came together in the end and all the main players were somehow involved in the final denouement, but alas it was not to be....

I was literally on the edge of my seat during the coke/party scenes and when the guy left her alone in the room and closed the door to 'change'. Why didn't Tanya try to leave after seeing the picture? Was that Greg? Would she even recognize what Greg looked like 30 years ago? Some people's looks change a lot over the decades. I wish Portia would have realized something was wrong and left the hotel that night. Not very impressed with Will Sharpe's acting. I feel like an actor with more range could have done a better job with this material.

I just binged all of Season 1 and up to current on Season 2 over the last several days. I love the weird energy of this show! At first I preferred Season 1 because the characters were a little more likable immediately and Armond was so fun to watch. But I have to say I have become absolutely engrossed over the last 2 episodes of Season 2! For one thing, I find Coolidge much less annoying this season, and actually am laughing at some of her acting choices. I was really on the edge of my seat imagining what awful thing might happen to Tanya and Portia at the estate with the nefarious gays and the rent boy. Everything going on with the 2 couples seems a lot more serious and deep than anything that transpired in Season 1. I really like how each episode is a good hour + because it really gives us time to kind of feel like we are spending a lot of time with these people. I thought Valentina was going to be a hoot but where they have taken her character is disappointing. I wish there was more of a focus on the staff like there was last season. I like the way the 2 local girls are sort of the energetic thread loosely tying almost everyone together. Can't wait to see what happens next and so happy there is an extra episode this season! I do hope we get to see some more excursions outside of the hotel before the season is over---seems like some of these people barely leave the resort! I know if I was there I would be trying to see everything I could in the time I had in such a beautiful place.

Rinna looked like she was wearing a straw helmet at Kyle's. I've always kind of laughed at Rinna's foolishness and found her mildly entertaining, but she was disgusting tonight. I loved how Kathy just got up and left since she knew exactly what was up. -

Just curious why JD was in gen pop? I thought someone who had committed such horrible violent crimes and with a huge presence all over the news would be confined solitarily. How could they even trust him around the other prisoners? For instance, If I recall correctly, BTK isn't in gen pop, and neither was Aileen Wournos. -
Creepy as f. I could barely stand the tension and was so relieved when the guy escaped. Don’t know if I can watch this whole thing without looking over my shoulder for the next 2 weeks

At first I thought poor Liz...what did Ed do to this nice cute girl to make her actually date and SLEEP with him? Now I can see that her personality is far uglier than Ed's. She seems mildly insane the more we see her. I guess they do actually deserve each other. Poor Norma. -
Lisa Rinna: These are the Lips of her Life
Joan van Snark replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
I totally agree. I can understand why you would want Rinna gone, but WHY WHY WHY would anyone want Denise back? Why would Bravo even want her back? She clearly was not interested in being a fully invested cast member and obviously is not cut out for reality shows. Didn't she back out of her commitment to Bravo to begin with? I also found her exceedingly boring, and she seemed like a real spaced out flake to me.
