Long ago I heard part of an interview with Henry Kissinger's brother, that went something like this: Interviewer: You have hardly any German accent, but your brother Henry has a strong accent. Why is that? Brother K: Henry never listens to anybody. I suspect that Thor could speak like the others, but doesn't want to.

Not having a Ghost Manual, I'm puzzled. The owl in the episode was a living owl; Jay could see it and interact with it. If a living person died, maybe she could be reincarnated as a living owl. But if a ghost ascends and is replaced by an owl, wouldn't it be a ghost owl?

Is it on line somewhere, so we can read it?

For the end-of-season-40 celebration, I'll bring a big box of chocolate Olympic medals so everyone can have one. Just tell the announcer your accomplishment (real or imaginary) and what music to play (anything you want, as long as it's "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald").

Congratulations, The Art and Sound, and Grundoon59! Imagine the anthems of your choice playing.

Yes. Next year maybe they will switch to a medical drama, treating the people who got sick from the mold in the church.

Woodstone Manor: The I-saac Sees All (Spoilers&Speculation)
Driad replied to Neptune's topic in Ghosts (US)
Sam: Jay, this house has mice! Jay: I haven't seen any. -
Who owns that house? Daniel? Or Daniel and Leonard? Poor Leonard.

With the variety of talents among the ghosts, it's too bad none of them is an an artist (and able to handle a pencil). Sam might try drawing pictures of some of the ghosts; maybe she would be really bad at it. -
Should be: 154/231 and 21 *.

My quicksand experience: I was walking along a river, near where it ran into the ocean. Suddenly my left leg sank above the knee in quicksand. The ground to my right was solid, so I slowly rolled and got out. My main concern was keeping my left toes up so I wouldn't lose my sandal.

Week 46: 3/5, no *. Season 40: 154/231 (not 230 because of the June tiebreaker). For Tuesday's "Flavors," I'll bring marzipan in the shapes of various items that have been in clues this season.

Professor T (UK) - General Discussion

If Donckers died (in the line of duty), hopefully there would be enough insurance to keep her father in the home. -
Metal detectors were available before the 1960s. If the archeologists were not using them to look for objects like the sword and cross, they should at least have had a line explaining why not (cost?).

What are the most difficult categories for most contestants? Opera and sports must be up there, along with some of the puzzle categories.

Week 45: 3/5 + 2*. Garp was a total guess but it counts. It's stone fruit season so I'll bring fruit salad: peaches, plums, cherries, etc.

RIP Bob Newhart.

During the Apollo 11 mission, William Safire wrote a speech for Nixon to use in case of "mishap." Toby Ziegler would approve.

Professor T (UK) - General Discussion
Driad replied to Door County Cherry's topic in Professor T (UK)
That rooftop's railing is barely knee high. I'm glad Prof T stays near the middle, and I hope it doesn't get too windy up there. Glad the chairs at the conference had some space between them. Chairs like those usually have hooks that attach them together so closely that non-emaciated people cannot sit without squeezing. It looked as if Prof T's mother fell. When she is able to talk, the conversation about why she was in the attic should be interesting. ETA: Guessing that Kafka was barking more than usual, and the neighbor came to investigate and saw Mrs. T on the floor. -
Last week (according to Mrs. C) it was known that the church building had black mold and was a danger to people, so it was logical to shut it down, at least until the mold was removed. But if the bishop et al. planned to shut it down, they should not have assigned a new vicar. What options does Alphy have? Is he allowed to go talk to churches whose vicars are about to retire, or does he have to wait for the bishop to reassign him?

"IC1 male" is an example of an IC code used by British police to describe someone's apparent ethnicity. (I'm not British so I looked it up.)
