In the intro, my local station often includes a clip of three contestants walking onto the stage, seen from behind them. It is always the same clip AFAICT, so the people are not that day's contestants. I don't know what it accomplishes besides wasting a few seconds of airtime. At a publishing job I had, a colleague's husband graduated from an Episcopal (IIRC) seminary. He was required to work in a non-church job for a while before he would be assigned to a church. He got a job in our department, typing and copying etc.

Week 11: 5/5 + 1 *. Bringing assorted beignets from the (imaginary) French bakery.

When Cecily's dog Chase came home without Cecily, why didn't they ask the dog to find Cecily? Many dogs would understand and follow Cecily's scent.

The "missing character" issue is not unique to this episode. Maybe there should be a thread for the staffing and economics of the show?

I never studied art history, but as I understand it, Leonardo tried a lot of original techniques. Some worked (i.e. the paintings lasted) but some did not.
-
So am I. When I was about 11, I read a biography of Leonardo. I'm left handed so I wrote the book report in mirror writing, the way he wrote his notebooks. My teacher was annoyed; maybe she didn't know how to read it.

Cocaine? I thought it was her travel sweets and the powdered sugar.

She was known as "Lemonade Lucy."

Week 10: 3/5 + 1 * YTD: 33/50 + 6 *

I remembered November 1 is All Saints' Day because once I was in Europe at that time, and every place I wanted to see was closed that day. Luckily the trains were running and I had a rail pass, so it was all scenery day.

Presumably you mean Mandy's brother. I'd be annoyed at the writers for giving Mandy a name so similar to Missy and Mary, if I had enough annoyance left over from other situations.

Someone once pointed out that the world's most common first name is Mohammed, and the most common last (family) name is Wang, so shouldn't the most common name be Mohammed Wang?
-
Week 9: 4/5. Bringing baba ganoush and fresh pita.
-
A seemingly simple Final Jeopardy question stumped all three contestants in 1984 It was Alex Trebek's second day on the job.

Oliver Wolf is based on Oliver Sacks (whose middle name was Wolf), a British neurologist who practiced in Manhattan, rode a motorcycle, had face blindness, and swam in the water near his home.

@chessiegal -- Thank you! (The emojis didn't appear when I clicked around.)
-
Was the Cheers Jeopardy episode shot on the actual Jeopardy set? The set has been redesigned several times so I'm not sure.

Week 8: 4/5.

Did Joseph write Guttenberg with 2 t's? The town of Guttenberg, Iowa, is named for the printer Gutenberg, so maybe the second t is optional.

We haven't heard officially, but I would guess she did go with him. For comparison, Numb3rs had a genius younger brother and a normal older brother. They mentioned that when the younger had gone across the country to college, the mother went with him, and the father and older brother stayed where they were.

When there is a DD, they make the clue smaller so they can show the contestant. That's OK except they make the clue much smaller than necessary, so I can't read it. There is enough space next to the contestant to make the clue large enough to read, so I wish they would do that.

If the recorded message was so important to Olympia, why did she keep the one and only copy on her work laptop?
-
Week 7: 3/5, no *. Bringing a fruit salad with dates, apples, and cherries.
