  1. Not only that, he used one arm to carry her, possibly putting himself and other humans in danger too. If he needs to take her everywhere, how about getting a sling or crossbody bag, so he can have both hands free?
  2. How do they choose which contestant gets the left podium when there is no current champion? For the Second Chance Tournament, do they go by how much money the contestants won on their previous appearances? Or is it a random selection? The people at the left podium appear to be doing especially well, so I wondered.
  3. I didn't see this episode, but I don't enjoy seeing people getting overly excited and celebratory about the value of an item. I'm much more interested in the histories of the items. My favorite was several years ago. A man brought in a large ceramic plaque and was told it was worth $500. He said something like "That's a relief. I like having it on my wall. If it were very valuable I would have to store it away."
  4. I got an email newsletter from WGBH about it. If you go to WGBH.org and scroll to the bottom, you can click on Newsletters; there's one called GBH Drama. I don't think they require a donation. I donate to WGBH even though I don't live in Boston, because WGBH acquires and produces so many programs.
  5. Thursday's FJ: the moons were named after some of Jupiter's many lovers. The spacecraft Juno, named after Jupiter's wife, is orbiting Jupiter. NASA explained: "Juno's name comes from Greek and Roman mythology. The god Jupiter drew a veil of clouds around himself to hide his mischief, and his wife, the goddess Juno, was able to peer through the clouds and reveal Jupiter's true nature."
  6. Week 17: 5/5 + 1 * Friday I didn't know Jonah was a prophet, but I knew the book was Moby Dick, so Jonah was a natural.
  7. I'll watch another couple of episodes, but it has the potential to become very silly. If it does, I'm gone.
  8. I was expecting someone to say they hope he will be a Jeopardy contestant some day, so he will experience how stressful it is.
  9. Please tell us some of the better options.
  10. Week 16: 4/5 + 1 * Bringing Boston cream pie.
  11. Week 15: 3/5 + 1 * (Friday) Weeks 1-15: 48/75 + 9 * I have not seen "Little Caesar" but knew it was about organized crime. I know only a few laws concerning organized crime. RICO is one of them and sounds like someone's name.
  12. FJ: As a non-sportsball fan, I was proud of myself for being able to name a real team. Not the one they wanted, but by my standards I did well.
  13. "Song of the Falklands" lyrics
  14. I enjoy seeing many of Elsbeth's clothes, even though they wouldn't look good on me. But the hot pink suit with orange trim in "One Angry Woman" -- yecch, I could barely look at it.
  15. Ram Murali's novel is Death in the Air. My library has that and another book with the same title, nonfiction(?) about the London smog. The London book is available so I borrowed it.
  16. When the judge mentioned his Mayflower ancestry, Elsbeth made a comment about the Salem witch trials IIRC. She (and the writers) should know that the Pilgrims and the Puritans were different groups of people, with different goals.
  17. Week 14: 2/5, no *. Marie Curie and Douglas Adams were instagets; the other three were nevergets. I never watched "I Dream of Jeannie."
  18. Mischievous history students who hide old-looking documents all over the place, so they can laugh later when people base scholarly articles on them? Was Isaac's name in the diary? He did not seem to remember what he had written.
  19. Happy 99th birthday, Dick Van Dyke!
  20. The soon-to-be murder victim picked up a record with one hand, and his fingers touched the grooves. Not a capital crime, but a strike against him.
  21. Has Potts expressed an opinion on Ivy continuing to have a job if they marry? Now that Eliza and Ivy both have outside incomes, maybe they could hire someone to do the cooking. It would be fair for Potts to contribute if he expects to eat there. When Eliza agreed to go to dinner with the reporter that evening instead of postponing, I guessed she suspected something.
  22. The episode description says that the bed is a belated wedding present. But the wedding didn't happen. Are Isaac & Nigel allowed to keep the gift? We need an etiquette expert -- Hetty?
  23. Week 13: 2/5 + 1 * (War & Peace). For the "smell" FJ I said duck boots, which have rubber feet and leather ankles. I had a rough week so I'm bringing dark chocolate to share. Possibilities is bringing it too, but there won't be too much, right?
  24. According to thejeopardyfan, "The final song played before shutdown was Chopin’s “Nocturne in C-sharp minor, Op. posth.”; the same song was played on the resumption of broadcasting after the war in 1945. Władysław Szpilman, the pianist who played both nocturnes live, was the subject of the 2002 movie The Pianist." Video of Szpilman playing this nocturne in 1997.
  25. Week 12: 3/5, no *. Bringing potstickers with your choice of fillings.
