  1. 3/5. Bringing a bucket of ice, and assorted beverages.
  2. My favorite ice bucket challenge is Patrick Stewart's.
  3. Agreed. I asked in a previous episode why Margaret couldn't give Susan the promotion, explain that the firm couldn't afford to give her a raise yet, and promise to give her the raise when they could. In most companies the salaries for different levels overlap a lot. If this company's rules require that Susan get a raise if she gets a promotion, they should say so. (One of my TV pet peeves is the gaping plot hole that could have been fixed by writing a few lines.)
  4. The episode should be on the CBS website tomorrow. I may watch it again (that way), it was such fun!
  5. Cartoon animals more recent than Bullwinkle and the Road Runner are not in my memory banks. For yesterday, you could think of the three seas as a sandwich with marmalade in the middle.
  6. Yes, and one way to find them is to connect to certain way-back people who are known to have had royal ancestry. For example, the New England part of my ancestry includes Thomas Dudley, who was a governor of Massachusetts in the 1600s. His ancestors include King John Lackland (meh) and therefore John's mother Eleanor of Aquitaine (yay!).
  7. True, but most people with any European ancestry are descended from Charlemagne (known in genealogical circles as "Chuck the Prolific.")
  8. Has this been canceled yet?
  9. I enjoyed this, although I had hoped for a bit more variety in the mysteries than what they showed. Would like to see a long article or video about the selection process. They got thousands of applicants. Probably they did some research on many of them, and chose the ones who had interesting mysteries that they were able to solve. Yes, bring back "Genealogy Roadshow"!
  10. PBS article: Mr Bates vs The Post Office: Inside Episode 1
  11. In episode 2 or 3 we got to see into one of her tote bags. Maybe someone has a recording and can see what was in there besides the baggie of baby carrots.
  12. If Georgie and Mandy buy a trailer, it might cost more than renting an apartment, but they would have equity, so their relatives might be more inclined to help than they would for rent.
  13. Three episodes, all involving murders. I hope they will have more variety of crimes.
  14. Week 30: 3/5. To date: 101/150, 13*.
  15. Yes, there should at least be an occasional line that they are trying to get a place. Maybe several local buildings were damaged by the tornado, so fewer apartments are available, and landlords have raised rents higher than Georgie & Mandy can afford. Could they buy a trailer and put it in a relative's yard?
  16. @Katy M....I think you mean Mandy and Georgie here. The writers should have given the Mandy character a name that is not so similar to Mary and Missy. Other posters here have made this mistake before.
  17. Sam Buttrey can be proud of his "Lost the most games of Jeopardy" record. Only people who are very good at the game get many chances. Look at baseball records, batters with the most strikeouts: they are top players, otherwise they would not have been up to bat so many times.
  18. ...or he and Jerome could have gotten married and went off on an extended honeymoon. Cue the fanfiction!
  19. The joke among my German relatives was that the emigrants left (in the 1800s) because they couldn't stand Wagner's operas. The joke probably started after they got to the US, though.
  20. Charlie's complaint against Shaun: Are they trying to revive the "Good Lawyer" spinoff that didn't work the first time? Asher: I agree with others here, that it may be realistic (alas) but it's totally unnecessary when the show is about to end anyway.
  21. The Most Popular Book of the Year, 1945-1984 including 1950's The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Prospective Jeopardy contestants may want to be familiar with these. [No, the Oxford comma is not in the book title. I added it anyway.]
  22. Thor can at least affect the electricity. Maybe he could also affect the stove, and ruin whatever Jay tries to cook.
  23. Besides a nutritional consultation, they could have at least considered testing the girl for conditions such as Prader-Willi Syndrome, since she said she had always been hungry even as a young child (IIRC). One episode of "House" had a patient who weighed 600 pounds. The doctors thought his medical problems were caused by his weight, but [spoiler alert] they were not.
  24. If we each make a batch of Andrew's "JIT Stew" they might all be different.
