  1. Week 27: 2/5 with 1* (Wednesday). Bringing a quiche, your favorite flavor. In one of my jobs we sometimes had people coming from out of town for meetings. At lunch, if they looked at the menu and asked, "What is a kwitchy?" we knew not to be too daring when we chose a place for dinner.
  2. If Joni had a phone app that could make noises, such as two more chair squeaks if she heard one, might that help her cope?
  3. I was lucky enough to know that, so I got Rembrandt, although the only thing I know about art shows is to make sure the paintings don't fall down. Kind of reminds me of the sort of clue Jeopardy often has. Category: Medieval History. Clue: [Obscure event] occurred in 1473 in this city, which is the capital of France. Yesterday I thought of a largeish landlocked country, but I was on the wrong continent.
  4. Apparently clothing can be rearranged a bit if it is not removed. We don't know how Hetty died, or why she was wearing that dress, or whether she had anything on under it ... Someone said ghosts can have sex but they can't finish.
  5. The word Gerrymander comes from a political cartoon, in case anyone here hasn't seen it.
  6. Years ago, I heard that the main actors hoped to make further episodes occasionally. Doyle's Holmes had a long career, so the actors getting older should not be a problem.
  7. I was rather surprised that Sheldon blamed himself. He could have blamed Prof. Sturgis or someone else involved in the project, or assumed that the potential users of the database were too ignorant to understand its importance.
  8. Some smoke detectors contain a small amount of radioactive material, so I was wondering about that.
  9. Week 26: 4/5 (Mon-Thu) with the Monday asterisk. Bringing hummus (your favorite flavors) and veggies for everyone.
  10. According to J-archive, the clue was "Sounding like a part of a saddle, it means to beat with the fists." So I'd say pummel was correct. Hoping Maya has a better day tomorrow.
  11. CBS will have it on their website CBS.com starting the next day.
  12. All squares are rectangles. Mark Twain wrote: “The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter—it's the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.” Presumably he approved of Roget's work.
  13. What would happen if Andrews taped the check back together and deposited it? I was confused by the new car too.
  14. We might be able to handwave some of the problem away if Mandy took Constance far enough away that Mary could hardly ever see her. But I have kind of given up on consistency between BBT and YS, since the writers don't care.
  15. I borrow ebooks from the library when I can, because my vision is not great and I can adjust the font size of an ebook. But my library system tends to get the paper book long before they get the ebook.
  16. Sam can see and hear the ghosts. Jay can do neither. Maybe some people can see ghosts but not hear them, or hear them but not see them?
  17. IIRC, in the BBT episode when Missy had a baby, Sheldon said it would be Mary's first grandchild. Is that really what he said?
  18. 3/5. Bringing clean snow, and hot maple syrup to pour over it.
  19. If it gets any reviews, some of them may be scathing.
  20. If Sam wants to publish the book as non-fiction, wouldn't most publishers reject it because she does not have credentials as a historian?
  21. The good: less Bailey than usual. The bad: everything else. My favorite parts: my glass of wine, the book I was reading, and the nice nap afterward. Were we supposed to recognize the prisoner with the books? If so, who was he?
  22. FJ seemed familiar. Have they had a Castor & Pollux question in the past?
  23. The big yellow prop snake was pretty convincing, since the actors mostly kept moving. Prop snakes that size are expensive, so there are probably companies that rent them out.
  24. Thank you, that makes sense from a production standpoint (i.e. Doylist). But I was curious about the character Eliza's choice (i.e. Watsonian).
  25. Why does Eliza wear her hair in such an elaborate style? She doesn't wear evening gowns when other women do, so why not a simpler hair style? At first I guessed that Ivy did Eliza's hair, but it looks the same when Ivy is away. Maybe Eliza learned how to do that style and finds it easier to do it that way.
