  1. How awkward is it that they're celebrating 25 years in their glass studio and they can't mention the guy who was there for most of that time. If I didn't know better, I would think Bryant and Katie and Savannah and Hoda were the only anchors, it's like he's been completely wiped from Today history. I understand why they did it, and I don't really ever want to see him again, but it was still weird. I enjoyed the look back. Despite all the show's faults, it's not on my must see list anymore and it can get a little loud and silly, I still really like this show. It's really amazing how many crew members have been there for 35-plus years. After all of that, it made me think of that "Katie, Matt, Al & Ann" America's First family song and now it's in my head.
  2. The little girl climber made me think of Jessica Dubroff. If that girl had gotten hurt or worse, the media would have called her parents irresponsible attention seekers instead of celebrating this feat. Why do they celebrate this kind of crap?
  3. Because he was clinically depressed and had probably been since his injury. Not everyone can function with major depression and it's not just the case of the sadz. For a few people it's a huge obstacle that's hard to get over because you have little motivation, drive and feel utterly helpless. Maybe his mental issues could have been better managed if he wasn't totally isolated and had a parent that really helped him instead of coddling him and enabling him. We'll never know now.
  4. To me, everyone is deserving of help as long as there's air in their lungs and synapses firing in their brains. I can't imagine turning people away because they're somehow unworthy because where do you stop? The lack of hygiene, Sean expressing that he felt helpless and hopeless and the isolation. Sean was the poster boy for major depression and whatever personality disorders he was, or would have been, diagnosed with. I kind of doubt he would have sought treatment at all if he didn't think he needed the little income from the show. RIP Sean. I hope you found the peace that escaped you in life wherever you are.
  5. Millionaire would be a good show to revive for ABC's Fun & Games summer block, but the show would probably be considered to quiet and slow to bring back.
  6. A tv viewer is very angry his local newscast spoiled Monday's episode. Warning for strong language. I still think it's worth a share.
  7. Now I'm wondering if Emma will be a one and done like many giant slayers before her. She was really good, and I think she would have totally dominated under different circumstances. We'll see later today. I liked what James said on Twitter about being glad he was beat by another contestant instead of beating himself. He seems like a good guy and a great sport, I'm looking forward to seeing him in the future.
  8. Oh well... 😢 At least James goes down as one of the all time greats. What a great run.
  9. I think I heard Oprah claims she was the one who started to sound like Gayle. Considering their polar opposite upbringings, it's possible, but who knows what's the truth. Jeff Glor is taking Anthony Mason's place on CBS This Morning Saturday. That is one steep demotion.
  10. June's crazy and on drugs. WE would have edited around June looking strung out and dope sick if it weren't for the arrest, they would have kept doing dumb shit like pretending June was sick from being possibly pregnant. I also don't buy that Geno is a good guy. Has June ever dated a good guy? I mean Pumpkin said it was a lie that June was dating her daughter's molester, why would I take her word that drunken loser Geno is an alright gentleman? I think what we got this season, or at least post-arrest, is a highly edited and filtered version of the truth. The desperate, doped up, caring about herself and her man above everything June is the closest we'll ever get to seeing the real June. The biggest lie is trying to make me believe June suddenly only became like that after she met Geno.
  11. Who are they fooling with the Sugar Bear wants custody of Alana mess? If SB wanted custody, he would have been in court to get at least visitation a long time ago, not to mention getting Alana off tv once everyone knew she was living a damn drug den. Not buying the they don't have room excuse either. If SB really wanted Alana, he would have found a house with a bedroom for her. I'm a little shocked they finally acknowledged June is on drugs, but then the only people who really said it were the psychiatrist and Big Mike. June will promise to go to rehab (on WE's dime) to avoid prison time and we'll watch her get clean. They better hope the judge doesn't ban June from doing reality shows.
  12. What was with Al saying that blue collar workers didn't get burned out in the good old days? I'm sure Al's dad did get burnout, even if he didn't complain about it or Al didn't realize since he was a kid. Viewing the so-called good old days through nostalgia tinted rose colored glasses is a pet peeve. The staff were upset about the Access Hollywood tape and I would be surprised if they liked Billy Bush before that. The staff didn't like Megyn either, but it took two years to fire her. Megyn was probably making more than half of what Bush was, so.
  13. Alana is almost 14 years old, she should have a stay where she lives unless the courts find Sugar Bear or Pumpkin unfit guardians. I think she wants to live with Pumpkin and Josh or she would be with SB and Jennifer. Despite June's arrest, they're still being cagey about her drug abuse. It will be totally annoying if they frame her intervention next week as only trying to get her away from Geno. Does June even want to keep filming? Could she even get through a taping without being strung out and nodding off? June is the one driving the drama, I can't imagine the show with just Sugar Bear and Jennifer being repulsive and Josh's scripted antics.
  14. I was a little skeptical about the feud rumors. Norah got a promotion, I don't think it was a big, Matt Lauer getting Ann Curry fired, type of situation. Tension, maybe. Out and out war, probably not. I don't think they were that great in the first place. There were rumors that CBS were thinking of host and format changes going back to November.
  15. What a loathsome trio of people. Why do we need so many episodes about them?
  16. There were rumors Jeff Zucker wanted to bring Matt Lauer over to CNN. Zucker denied the rumors but I wouldn't be surprised if the only thing keeping Zucker from hiring Lauer was the fear of backlash from CNN staffers and the media. I also wouldn't be surprised if Zucker went ahead and hired Lauer because CNN's ratings are terrible and that could get them some attention in the short term.
  17. June can be both an amoral asshole who often puts men and her own needs over her daughters' and a victim of abuse. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Speaking of amorality, I agree that WE is afraid of being busted for knowing about (and probably filming) June and Geno using drugs while Alana was in the house. I can't feel to bad, this is the same network who hired June after it was known she dated her oldest daughter's rapist. This mess can't be a huge surprise to them. Patients who have bariatric surgery still have a lot of work to do. Pumpkin and Alana would more likely not need surgery because it's easier for young people to lose weight versus someone in their late-20s and beyond who has been close to 300 pounds or more for years and have a host of health problems.
  18. It's obvious that one of the reasons Pumpkin didn't bounce like her older sisters was to take care of Alanna. June had a lot of problems way before Geno came in the picture. Beyond her sketchy past, anyone who dated a man who raped one of her kids doesn't need children. Geno is trash and probably is abusing June, but she has refused all the help her family and the network has extended to her. Drugs are something else. Jennifer is not 200 pounds and the nonsense with her and Sugar Bear is totally out of place in the midst of the semi-real drama surrounding June.
  19. George's mother was on a Mother's Day before some years back, the internet tells me it was 2014. I watched a 40 year old episode on a video sharing site and it's amazing how quiet the show used to be. I don't mind the current noise and nonsense, I just still dislike Drew Carey's hosting.
  20. Truman is buried at his which I only know because I've been to his library. It looks like every president from the past 70 years, except Johnson and Kennedy, are buried at their libraries.
  21. I like Willie's Sunday show. I can do without the kiss ass celebrity interviews, but I like his interactions with Morgan Radford and Kristen Welker and I love a Life Well Lived. Willie is really likable, but he's slightly tainted to me due to his connection to Joe & Mika. That show is so unwatchable to me now and I know Willie will never leave.
  22. When I still watched, I would look at the first five minutes then fast forward to the reveal. That show got repetitive fast. As bad as Paternity Court is, I'd take it over those awful, scripted Entertainment Studios court shows. The judge sits there and take notes like it's a real case while the so-called actors struggle to remember their lines. I don't understand how they even made it to air.
  23. It's dumb, but at least bidding $1 first comes off as a genuine nervous reaction in most cases, most of the people bidding $420 are trying to be cute. The $420 bids stopped being mildly amusing around 15 years ago.
  24. God, TPiR needs to pull a Jeopardy! and ban $420 bids. All of the One Bid prizes are worth over $500 anyway.
  25. It's a show in it's seventh season, the costs and salaries could be on the expensive side. The price tag, along with working around any issues JLD possibly could have been still dealing with, may be the reason for the shortened season. The show is still entertaining, but this season is not really working for me. Too bad this is the final season.
