  1. I've noticed the same thing. Either you're really good or really bad. I just finished reading a James Patterson novel where a client owns the Raiders. He thinks the mob has the refs in on a fix to call games in their favor. Turned out to be true but all the same, made me laugh thinking of the point spread on wins this week. Now, by familial association I am a Cowboy fan however I picked the Saints to win and I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate the Saints.
  2. I don't really see a problem with Penny's transformation into her new job. Even in real life getting a job can depend upon who you know just as much or equal to the amount of education you have. My own personal life choices led me down a similar path. Held a job since I was 14. Did not attend college, got a job at a great bank as a teller at 18, stayed with the same company for 10 years finally resigning as bank manager to be able to stay at home with my babies. Granted, had I a college degree I could have performed the same job for double the pay as I think is the case with Penny. Sure she may be making a lot of money now but she could probably make more if she had the degree. Still, she'll make enough and that all because of who she knew.
  3. I had been on a Stephen King bender for a while when I decided a needed a change of pace. I browsed the library specifically for something that had a lot of other books by the same author. I happened to pick up the Fixer Upper by Mary Kay Andrews and really got hooked by the story pretty much instantly. After that I got Summer Rental and loved it too. On your suggestion I picked up Hissy Fit at the library today and am loving it! On chapter 6 but was pretty much sucked in by the first two pages. iTunes had a free copy of James Pattersons "Private" and I read that in 2 days. Had heard of him but not read anything by him before. Consequently I found the second installment at the library today and got that as well. I like to alternate. Once I finish my light and fluffy piece I switch to my more serious, true crime, fake crime, scary pieces.
  4. I'm turning 30 this year and remember for my 4th birthday my parents gave me a Mickey Mouse bday party and we had these delicious Mickey Mouse Ice cream bars! My youngest just turned two and we went with a Mickey Mouse theme; evidently those bars have been discontinued! You can only purchase them at the theme parks now.
  5. I know this is Sacrilegious to say but for me it's: Golden Girls As soon as I hear the first note I have got to change the channel, Stat! Never seen more than one minute of the show but for some reason I have an irrational hatred for it! Maybe it's the cult following of it that annoys me (I'm a diehard I Love Lucy Fan so I understand the sentiment), or the bright, dated scenery? Something about it....
  6. Hi! Cooksdelight! Fellow WNCian here too! I for one am happy about the TAR schedule change. I don't have DVR or a life so Friday nights are free for me pretty much always. I missed all of last season due to football conflicts or The Walking Dead/Mad Men.
  7. Pickles! Hate them and everyone gives me a hard time about it, especially my four year old. I make him eat things he doesn't like so he can not process the fact that I don't even want to try a pickle. I ate them when I was little, 20+ years ago! Something triggered in my taste buds sine then that makes the smell of a pickle gag inducing. My 2 year old loves pickles as does my husband so I'm the odd one out. If I ever eat out fast food (rarely) I make sure to order something that doesn't have pickle on it. Cant stand the lingering taste or the smell and if I have to touch one for my kids, I make sure to scrub my hands with soap and water! When I was very pregnant with my first I went to Jerseys Mikes to get subs for the husband and I. His I ordered with extra pickles and the teen aged employee said, "let me guess, this one is for you" you know, because a pregnant lady always wants pickles. Yuck!
  8. So a nit that I remember picking in years past rears its ugly head again. I hate! the way the overhead announcer lady pronounces Emmy. The name I go by (and also the name on my birth certificate) is Emmy and I pronounce it with a soft E sound at the beginning. I swear this lady is pronouncing it with a soft I sound, Immy. Sorry but it bugs!
  9. yes, he's made me laugh a few times as well! I say this as someone who knows who he is but have never actually seen him in anything. Eta: love me some fraggle rock but I am an 80s kid!
  10. I know I'm in the minority, especially as an almost 30 year old female, but I would personally love to see a good Drum and Bugle Corp like Phantom Regiment or the like for a half time show. Who was it last year? Bruno Mars? I don't know what the stats are but do that many people watch the half time show anymore? Between wanting to watch the game and the commercials the only missable thing is half time, for me.
  11. So, I'm probably 100 pages or less to the end of The Shining and while creepy (and a good read, IMO) I can't help but ask why the hell his parents are always asleep (mostly his mom). Seems like a writers cop-out to me as a way to let Danny find himself in trouble. I'm a SAHM of a two and four year old and taking a nap is never a part of my day. Especially after all the crazy encounters you'd think his mom, at least, would stay the heck awake to keep an eye on her kid!
  12. Yonah! Oh man, I feel sorry for the kid because he is obviously spouting the party line "no medication, I am meant to be this way" (or whatever he said on the front stoop at the end) Now, I'm not known for being a pill popper myself. Headache, I'll deal with it. Cramps, I'll deal with it. Hate going to the dr. My kids go, when they are sick and for annual check ups. The incense and indigo bullshit isn't working lady. Maybe stop being so damned kooky and deal with the issue at hand. Play ball with your kid, read with your kid. If you are so against medication actively work with your child. Not passively through some magic healing powers! Gay couple. The daughter was cute, sweet. But geesh! Helicopter parent much? I had a harder time believing their scenario simply because they pretty easily agreed to a sleep over. Any hardcore couple I know like that is never going to sleep without their kid at home. I thought Nana was sweet and well meaning and they pretty much relegated her to"the help" both personally and professionally and thats pretty messed up. How old was the kid? 3 ? Stop giving so many choices. I'll sometimes ask my four year old if he'd prefer a PB&J or ham and cheese for lunch and that's if I'm feeling generous. Most days he and my 2 year old get what I serve and they don't get a choice. These dudes were just ridiculous and I'm sure after the interviews for new nannies were over most of them prayed they would not get a call back!
  13. I have it but can't bring myself to read it.
  14. I attempted to read The Long Walk a few years ago and couldn't finish it. It started to feel so monotonous and droning and I got bored. My husband liked it when he was younger and thought it was supposed to feel that way, which I get but it doesn't make for good reading. I checked out Dreamcatcher and made it friggin half way through (400 some pages out of the 800) and just had to quit it. Ugh! It started out so good but then it just fell off the rails for me. Am reading The Shining now, never seen the movie. I have seen enough clips of the movie to visualize some things. I'm only 40 pages in and am already having bad dreams about two little girls in a hallway and I haven't even gotten that far in yet! I like it though, so far. I also got Under the Dome because the tv show is just so stupid I wanted to see what the book had to offer. I still have to say my favorite book is 11/12/63 followed closely by Duma Key.
  15. I thought it was alright. I lost my love for top chef a while ago but I still watch. I've always hated Richard and his faces. I would have enjoyed the money rounds a lot better if they had done a blind judging.
  16. So Sam was Tag on friends. I thought he looked familiar but what happened to his face? Does not look the same at all! Nothing more to add. I just watch this show as I try to fall asleep. It's really quite ridiculous!
  17. Not sure where to put this but I just saw a preview commercial for next season starting August 15th. I don't know why I like this show so much but I miss it on my Friday line up.
  18. She's still got her instagram up and running. She's posted a bunch of pictures today of their trip and other "haters gonna hate" type pictures denying that she has been fired. As an aside, I'd be thrilled to see her booted off the show!
  19. I've never liked Andy as a host of these things. He needs more power to his voice to gain control when things go off the rails. Reunion shows always bore me, so I admit to being preoccupied while watching. Aviva seeing no problem dropping the f bomb in front of kids.. Not ok. I curse like a sailor, when my kids aren't around (ironically, my brother is a US Sailor and told me they get in serious trouble if they are caught cursing). That was totally inappropriate! I would be offended if my husband gave me a boob job as an anniversary gift. Im sure she asked for it but I'm sure Josh was in 100% agreement. Alas, the parallels to the Beadors on the OC continue. Thought Luanne (suprisingly) and Sonja's dresses were the worst. I'll watch again and change my mind I'm sure. I hope next week continues with the Ramona/Mario talk and she's not able to get out of it.
  20. I agree for the most part however, honestly, the only time I am not wearing a bra is when I bathe or sexy times :) I have a few comfy sports bras I wear at night and nicer bras for the day. I am a stay at home mom and while I don't wear makeup daily, I still shower, dress nicely I.e. A summer dress, skirt or tank with jeans. Even If I don't leave the house, it just helps me feel ready for the day. Now, come 7:00pm I'm dressed in my PJ's for sure!Shoes, I just can't keep my house clean enough to go barefoot. A dog, a cat, a 1 and 4 year old, there's always something on the floor that makes my feet feel gritty, Nevermind the fact that I sweep daily!
  21. I grossly remember the bathroom scene of her having Kroy remove her IUD so they could get pregnant with the twins. For some reason she couldn't wait until the next day to go the dr. Yuck! So, Kim is familiar with an IUD. I have an IUD am 29 with two kids. We aren't sure if we are done or not and I see the point about having permanent procedures done however it makes more sense for the man to have it done than the woman. If we decide we are done with kids I am going to suggest a vasectomy because I hate birth control. The pills suck and the IUD sucks in its own way as well, at least in my body. Why should I have to have some foreign object stuck inside of me all the time or get pumped full of hormones all the time? 6 kids should be plenty, snip, snip!
  22. Yes, this was probably one of my least favorite episodes. As an aside, I happened upon this show back in June while on vacation and flipping through the local channels. Loved it and caught up with this most recent season onDemand over the weekend. Had no idea there was a first season! I'm always late to the game!
  23. I think I would like Lucas a lot more of he didn't have that hair! Ugh! I swear to <insert deity here>! If my boys ever ask for a haircut like that I'm taking the razor to them in their sleep. I know it's the style now for punk emo little pimple heads but I hate it!! Again, the only reason I'm watching is for Cory and Topanga. I have no interest in anything else and pay attention to something else when the others are on screen. The show just isn't in my demographic. My boys are way too young to be interested in shows with real people so these kid type shows aren't on my radar however I have no problem watching BMW re runs everyday. I just wish they could have made this on almost any other network so the adults could have a little bit more pandering to. I mean, I don't know but are the ratings they got last episode broken down into age? I just think if on a different network they could have triple the ratings if they have all the old BMW fan base tuning in. On Disney channel they limit themselves. Farkle was better this week, less annoying. Where did this name come from? Is it a nickname? I think of the dice game whenever he's mentioned by name.
  24. So, I liked From A Buick 8. As I mentioned above, I'm a King newbyI was hoping for more of an explanation at the end though. My local library only seems to have one or two King books on hand at a time. This week I could choose from The Cell or Duma Key. I chose Duma Key and am only 30 pages in. This one already seems past my creepy meter! I'm going to try and stick with it though. I read The Cell after I read 11/22/63 and rather enjoyed that. I was late to the game on watching The Walking Dead but for some reason that very first episode made me think of The Cell and see similarities. The Cell was my first foray into zombie land vernacular and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
