  1. Okay a big reason I liked the movie was it's level of sheer audaciousness which was missing from the last one. I know that's weird when it has Indy surviving a nuclear explosion in a fridge, Shia swinging with monkeys and aliens but overall it felt they were playing it too safe and the result was a flat Indy movie with low energy. There was a joyful recklessness to the action in the first three that Crystal Skull lacked and Dial of Destiny brought back. I think it's because back in 2008 Ford was old but not too old to still do the action so the scenes were shot in a more restrained way. Like they wanted to show it was him doing the stunts but the stunts themselves couldn't be too dangerous. To put it this way KOTCS had all the ingredients but without any spice.
  2. Just saw it . Definitely liked it more than Crystal Skull. Cried at the final scene. I'll talk more about it tomorrow. Just adding that the female CIA agent saying Indy was innocent let me know the government does too and that means Indy was cleared at the end.
  3. I'm a 1. I wasn't aware until recently there are people who can't visualize things in their head!
  4. I saw the 2008 Get Smart starring Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway based on the 60s show in theaters. Nothing memorable except for this scene with Arkin as the "Chief".
  5. He played so many funny and lovable characters, especially in his later years but this effing bastard from the 1967 Audrey Hepburn thriller Wait Until Dark scares me to this day!
  6. I have no problem with the current "product origin story" movie trend: Tetris, Air Jordans, Hot Cheetos, and now Beanie Babies. The dumber the better! LOL! At least it's something different. I do want to see one about a failed product like New Coke.
  7. I don't blame him, Rachel in that second Mummy movie was 🔥. But why do that to a guy Variety?
  8. They had her say the line at the end of Spider-Man 2 but it wasn't the same. The comic version was the payoff of a running joke for 40 issues that Aunt May was always trying to set Peter up with her friend's niece who he imagined was unattractive. They would always miss meeting each other because Peter had to be off being Spider-Man and the reader never saw her face. Romita had just replaced Steve Ditko as artist and he had come from romance comics where his specialty was drawing beautiful girls.
  9. John Romita Sr., Legendary Marvel Artist, Dies at 93
  10. First episode of season 11. Miss Moneypenny from the Brosnan Bond movies is married to the smug MI6 traitor Daniel Craig kills in the opening of Casino Royale
  11. Watching "The Case of the Prodigal Parent" and thought one of the actresses in it looked familiar and then I saw in the credits that it was Fay Wray! Ann Darrow from the original King Kong herself. This might be one of my favorite episodes of season 1 despite it not being based on one of the books. I love when a mystery has a big soap opera element. Also want to talk about how the previous episodes had 1960s TV Commissioner Gordon AND his daughter Barbara aka Batgirl playing a stepfather and stepdaughter!
  12. Since every time I see Seth Rogan mentioned here or anywhere else online it's people saying they can't stand him or his laugh my unpopular opinion is I actually don't have a problem with either. I've liked him in both comedies and dramas like JOBS.
  13. Earlier in season 1, I spotted two of James Mason's henchmen from North By Northwest each in back to back episodes, "The Case of the Vagabond Vixen" and "The Case of the Runaway Corpse": Just watched "The Case of the Screaming Woman" and it has both the real Lester Townsend and the woman pretending to be his wife!
  14. Susan was a doctor. I've said it before but Carol only ended up a main character because of her relationship with Doug, otherwise they would never have given so much focus on a nurse. When she left they felt they had to replace her but in a show with mostly doctors nobody cares about a nurse or their problems. Speaking generally it does happen that a woman will get attention from more than one man in real life. Why does it seem to annoy people when it happens on TV?
  15. First Bond I saw in theaters. RIP.
  16. It just hit me as I woke up this morning. Barnaby. Jones.
  17. RIP Rick. Wish Quentin Tarantino would have given him a role in one of his movies so he could have a comeback in the 90s or 2000s like he did Travolta or David Carradine. And he claimed he was a fan. *shakes head*
  18. The synopsis for "Picture of Innocence" did not prepare me...
  19. I've seen kids with long Cobain hair and buzzcut since the 90s but this...
  20. Was at the mall yesterday. Looked around and realized how I have not been paying attention to Gen Z. Is every teenage boy getting perms now? When did they all decide "I want a haircut that makes me look like Sideshow Bob, or broccoli"?
  21. Season 1 watch continuing: Case of the Lonely Heiress: The murder victim is played by L.Q. Jones who I've only seen before as an old man in Casino and Mask of Zorro. It's crazy seeing him so young. Case of the One Eyed Witness: Angie Dickinson! Scooby Doo ending! Case of the Deadly Double: First episode that doesn't have "Earl Stanley Gardner's.." before the title. Instead it says "Based on characters by Earl Stanley Gardner" So I guess this wasn't based on one of the books. The Three Faces Of Eve came out a year earlier in 1957. The writers must have seen it and gotten ideas for this one.
