  1. When a shocking reveal happens in a 1930s movie: No music. Just eerie silence. When a shocking reveal happens in a 1940s movie: LOUD DRAMATIC STING!
  2. Young girls have always gone for the soft, non threatening, pretty types: Beatles, David Cassidy, Justin Bieber. There's this funny term online called "twink death" when a male celebrity gets old and loses their youthful male beauty.
  3. I think why Chevy broke out back then was he looked like a normal good looking leading man but would unexpectedly be goofy and say silly things with a straight face and that made it more funny. It's basically Ryan Reynolds whole thing now. As he got older though Chase's looks started to go and instead of this young guy being charmingly odd it was now this old man being confused and his shtick didn't work anymore.
  4. I think you can tell that story but for one movie as an epilogue. That's what Lucas intended in his original handwritten outline for 12 movies. Fans though wanted and expected another trilogy.
  5. Lucas' decision to make Darth Vader Luke's father(which was late in the TESB screenwriting process), while elevating the movie and the original trilogy as a whole would artistically doom the prequels. It would have been much easier for Lucas to write a story about a friendship of two good guys where one of then is killed by the other's student who was already evil(as Lucas had originally planned) then it is a to write a good guy who turns evil and betrays everyone he loves. Someone with far better skills as a dramatic writer could pull it off but not Lucas. Similarly the decision to kill the Emperor and have the Empire defeated in the third movie would negatively effect the sequels. Lucas originally planned to do that after another trilogy but the movies turned out to be so time consuming and expensive to make that he just wanted to finish the trilogy. Once you defeat the main villain and the good guys win the story is basically over. There's nowhere to go.
  6. The recent news makes me really hope Gordonstoun really did end up strengthening Charles.
  7. I never thought in a million years seeing Walter Peck again would actually make me feel nostalgic!
  8. Seeing unhappy people now hating Jon's return in Twitter say he popularized the "both sides are the same" mentality that has ruined politics now and I'm like did they even watch TDS when Jon hosted? There was never an episode where the majority of Republicans was not shown to be almost cartoonishly evil in both motive and executing their agenda. They were clearly the worst of the 2 parties. If holding Democrats accountable for not living up to their voters standards and wanting them to be better is "whataboutism" then I'm on Jon's side.
  9. Love how everyone in the replies is like "So who's going to tell her?" 🤭
  10. Yeah I found that out after posting 😂. It's incredible. It's like Elaine gave birth to her twin!
  11. Watching an episode and the lady murderer's niece looks and sounds a lot like Elaine May.
  12. This recent interview has stirred up the fandom again!
  13. I'm stunned. I loved Homicide and Brooklyn 99 and also liked his work in Glory. Also discovered he had been in a number of Kojak TV movies in 1989 and 1990.
  14. Or shoot him from behind and not show his face like Jesus in Ben Hur! 😂
  15. I love The Mandalorian season 1 but to say it was all new is laughable. You had Boba Fett looking armor, Ugnaughts, a robot like IG-88 a baby version of Yoda, Jawas, Imperial stormtroopers scout walkers, X-Wings etc. It was all familiar stuff to old Star Wars fans. Now for a lot of younger viewers who've never seen tne classic trilogy the show is their first Star Wars experience and all that stuff is new to them along with the characters that appear in season 2. For older fans though they know they appeared in other shows and resent being left out because they chose not to watch them. Also people wouldn't have a problem with seeing Luke if it was Mark Hamill without any digital effects and uncanny valley.
  16. I loved Clone Wars and Rebels and most of AHSOKA so I'm happy. People say they don't want anything connected to the old stuff but Andor was connected to Rogue One! Ray Stevenson played a new character who didn't appear before in the animated shows and fans who didn't watch them agree he was one of the best things about AHSOKA. Shin Hati already has her fans and she's new too. So I think Filoni can come up with new things that people who only watch live action will like. I just think wanting new Star Wars that doesn't reference anything at all is ridiculous. Like it or not there is now a canon history considering of hundreds hours of stories. Yeah fans say they want the simplicity of the first movie but what they really miss when it all seemed fresh and new. The irony is the story and archetypes were as old as humanity, it's just the setting and aesthetic was new.
  17. So two hours ago I bent down to pick up something and experienced a spasm in my lower back for the first time.
  18. I swear though, there are people online that think any depiction of Charles and co at Balmoral that's not them popping champagne and laughing "Our plan worked!" is somehow Royal propaganda!
  19. I'm glad for this board because there is an embarrassingly large number of people on Twitter who are media illiterate and don't understand basic storytelling who think Diana was an actual spiritual entity and not Charles's imagination. So many idiots irate that Diana was so complimentary to him. The fact that Charles doesn't freak out screaming when she appears should have given them a clue this wasn't the real Diana speaking from the spirit world!
  20. This is awful. I remember Dana mentioning Dex a lot in his 1995 special. Condolences to his family and friends.
  21. Seeing old Magnum PI reruns reminded me Tom Selleck can be funny or at least goofy so it's odd they didn't play into that when they got him on the show. I guess they wanted him to be more of an adult in comparison to the guys. That's a bit of stunt casting that paid off later because 1) viewers remembered him years later and 2) unlike other exes for the characters he could believably threaten the Chandler/ Monica romance.
  22. Ty Burell's not dead BTW he just couldn't make it!
