  1. Most of the things people didn't like in The Last Jedi was rooted in story and character decisions made in The Force Awakens. For example TFA told us that Luke's Jedi school was destroyed by one of his students, his own nephew who turned to the Dark Side. This meant Luke FAILED BIG TIME but we were distracted by the mystery of his whereabouts to fully grasp it.
  2. Great having the show back! One of my favorite Marvel Disney Plus shows next to WandaVision and Ms. Marvel. The best part continue to be the Loki and Mobius buddy comedy. Hiddleston and Owen Wilson's chemistry is as fantastic. The scene where we meet OB feels so Wes Anderson and I loved it
  3. Caught an old Magnum PI yesterday with guest star Erin Gray. It was from 1981 so it was after Buck Rogers and before Silver Spoons. Looked it up and it was a backdoor pilot for a possible series for her. Shame it didn't get picked up. Always loved her. The late 70s and early 80s had a wealth of gorgeous actresses but she was my favorite.
  4. I knew two episodes ago they weren't going to resolve everything in the finale so I'm okay with it. We know theres the upcoming theatrical movie that all the shows are leading up to. I hope they continue Baylan's story in animation. Loved Ezra's interaction with Huyang. As was Chopper knowing it was him. Also disguising himself as a Stormtrooper was cool since we know he did that a lot on Rebels. I liked seeing Anakin's Force Ghost(and that he isn't wearing the same robe as Obi-Wan's like ROTJ!)
  5. HP fans have been bitching for years that he wasn't calm when he asked Harry if he put his name in the Goblet of Fire like in the books. It was Gambon's idea to play Dumbledore be shaken to the core instead and he was right. Movies are different than books and if you're going to convey to non-book readers that Harry being entered into the tournament means someone is trying to get him killed, "calm" aint going to cut it. RIP.
  6. It also makes the Colonel Kurtz parallel even stronger. Thank you Brando for not losing weight to play a Green Beret! Fun episode with good action. The actor playing Ezra continues to be spot on. Hayden saying Asajj Ventress' name made my nerd heart happy. Man I wish we could see Leia in some form in this period. Maybe just a still image.
  7. Donald Pleasance' character. 😭 This is cool. Had no idea:
  8. Love that movie. Unlike the other prisoners who were RAF he was Royal Navy and came up with a way of disposing the dirt from the tunnels. His heroic move later at the train station is also memorable. They married a year after his divorce from actress Jill Ireland in 1967. She married his friend and Great Escape co-star Charles Bronson also a year after their divorce. McCallum: “I never hated him, Charlie was always a good friend,” he says. “I find that when problems come along, worrying about them and getting anxious and negative is quite unnecessary. You can solve them, usually amicably. That’s what happened.”
  9. Watched a Kojak rerun last night that of a Fourth "cop visit friend" scenario: the cop but only stays a day and mostly observes as friend handles problem on their own. Friend also has an interesting personal situation like say, raising a child by themselves. Yep it's a back door pilot episode for a potential spinoff!
  10. Nine episodes into season 4 and Cobie Smulders! Man, everyone has been on this show!
  11. You'd think a cop who put a famous country singer, as well as famous mystery writer, symphony conductor, movie star, political candidate and even the chief of police(!) behind bars end up notorious himself. What really was the 1990 revival episode with Dierdre Hall playing a missing magazine publisher. The reporters at the press conference were like "Who is this Lt. Columbo and is he any good?" months after he arrested a director basically the equivalent of Steven Spielberg months before! Also thinking about how in the later seasons of Quincy M.E. he was always testifying before Congress over a different public health and safety issue. You'd think that would get the media's attention "Oh it's that coroner again!"
  12. Maybe she built up a rep and is famous to cops everywhere. 😉 "Chief you have a call from Olivia Benson in New York" "Oh my God, THE Olivia Benson?" Seriously though it's crazy that no matter how many rich and famous people a TV cop has arrested he will still be unknown. Columbo should have already been known and feared by every wealthy person in Los Angeles by the third season!
  13. See I figured it was a joke because who doesn't know what that means? The private detective with his own show always seem to know the local cops, either as friends or antagonists who always wrongly suspect them of murder and sees them on a regular basis. The police detective stars of their own show however will rarely encounter a private detective.
  14. I know their reunion would have hit more if this was still animated but damn it I still love it. The actor playing Ezra is perfect. I know folks are going to complain about the tone when they tell you right at the beginning it's going to be a fairy tale.
  15. The Tuktuk chase was my favorite part! The fact that it was longer than you expect and got crazier and more dangerous is what I love about it. I thought the last movie felt too safe. I like that they went all out and big for the final one. If Indy had been 10 years younger he would have dealt with Mutt's death by going on another adventure and tried to forget his feelings by focusing on finding artifacts like he did after his dad and Marcus died. Since he's too old to do that now he had no choice but to wallow in depression and think about his regrets. What I appreciated was while one adventure won't make his pain go away he was able to show he cares for someone even if she doesn't make it easy or deserve it because that's what a parent has to do.
  16. Joss Whedon said he wanted to have Iron Man and Thor fight in the first Avengers without it being the typical comic book thing of a misunderstanding where they each think the other is a villain so he wrote it like cops fighting over jurisdiction on who gets to arrest Loki.
  17. My mom had cataract surgery a couple of years ago. It was weird not seeing her with glasses now because she always had them on when I was growing up. Also annoyed that I inheriting her nearsightedness and all still having to wear them! This is cute:
  18. Third scenario is detective gets a call in the middle of the night from friend's frantic wife who calls you by your first name which you rarely go by at work. You immediately recognize her voice despite having just woken up and not seen her in years and ask her what's wrong. She tells you her husband has either been arrested or missing or in a coma and she didn't know what else to do. You fly out there immediately to investigate, taking some vacation days early. Maybe your partner tags along.
  19. Me watching "Memoria" early on: This Lilian Luthor is a lot better mom than the one on Supergirl! Later: I spoke too soon.
  20. If you're a big city police detective and you travel across country to visit an old friend from childhood/college/military, that person will end up arrested for a murder they did not commit and you will have to prove their innocence. However if an old friend visits you they most likely will turn out to be guilty of a major crime and you will end up having to either arrest them or kill them in self defense or save someone else.
  21. I think the original showrunners not being comic book fans or Superman experts allowed for a fresh take or an adherence to established lore.
