  1. I agree with those who content Kody/Robyn slapped the rules together with the intent to make them so onerous as to ensure the other wives and kids would not be able/willing to embrace and follow them therefore would not be put in a position to say "no" to hosting any of them in the manse. I do not for one second believe they were following these rules themselves, in fact, Robyn didn't appear to "wipe down" or disinfect the towel warmer that Janelle brought despite Janelle specifically giving her a prompt to do so if Robyn felt so inclined as she should have considering it is required by one of the "rules". Regarding sanitizing/disinfecting mail, groceries, surfaces, and even hands - most people don't realize their efforts are ineffective because they are not using an adequate amount of solution, not leaving the product on the surface long enough, not using products that are formulated to combat the target bacteria/virus, or are utilizing a myriad of other ineffective practices. For example, most common consumer products need to be applied so that the surface remains VISIBLY wet for 5 mins (+/- 1 min) and often need to air dry vs being wiped off. Obviously, this would have a deleterious effect on paper mail, cardboard boxes (ie cereal), etc. So in other words, when people "disinfected" their mail, groceries, hands, surfaces, etc, against virus'/bacteria they were not actually killing or rending them inert at all; what they were really doing was just moving the contaminants around on the surface. And IF, Kody/Robyn were going through the motions of wiping down mail/groceries/etc this is the method I believe they were employing so they were moving not killing. Which by the way, I find hilarious as what they were doing only served to make them FEEL safe and superior when in fact they were accomplishing absolutely nothing! HA
  2. I took it to mean she needed to find supplemental insurance that would cover the relatively new technique. Yes, vertebral body tethering is FDA approved but traditional insurance coverage is variable and uncommon.
  3. Nope, not weird, and I would hope that if push came to shove, you'd pick your kids over you wife as well. My view; one's children should ALWAYS come before anyone else... period, full stop. (w/ the extremely unusual caveat that they are not a serial axe murder and even then a parent should do their level best to forgive and support their child while still holding them accountable)
  4. I guess I just find it distasteful to blame a model for a designer's failure rather than putting the responsibility squarely on his or her lack of creativity, vision or talent. Completely putting aside the fact that I'm pretty sure this show's largest model is a size 10 so not some outlandishly grotesques size that one would only find in a side show circus.
  5. That's exactly the same thing I thought, all the way up to the very end and then I was not so sure. So I guess it's going to have to be a wait and see. I don't find Chunk very likeable so I'd be fine with him sauntering off the show with Marissa either as the ADA's side piece or as a co-founder for NYC's newest law firm.
  6. Re: the assertion that either all designers or none of them should have plus size models... Unpopular opinion but I'm thrilled that this version of project runway does it this way. The designers know in advance that the models are not all 6' boobless stick women so should be well prepared and versed on how to design, fit, and dress women of varied shapes and sizes. The original version put forth a plus sized episode every season that they condescendingly dubbed the "every woman" challenge and invariably we would be treated to grimaces, groans, slumping shoulders, varying utterances of disdain, and mostly horrendous designs. And the response from the views and posters here would be disgust at the shear elitist and haughtiness of the designers and endless complaints of the their reactions and creations. Perhaps this is just a lesson to show how people are never happy. eta: I forgot to mention that I too hope that Elaine gets replaced. I find her critiques rather disjointed, irrelevant, and somewhat confounding. She definitely chooses favorite designers and gives them their weekly tongue bath whether they missed the challenge mark or not. As far as Nina, call me shocked that I appreciate her judging approach the most. She was by far my least favorite on original recipe. I don't mind Brandon but I do like early Michael Kors better, later Michael Kors seemed to be more interested in quipping a snarky sound bite rather than giving feedback.
  7. That's exactly how it works (the buffering part) which is how they can be sure to get whatever immediately leads up to an unexpected interaction with the public. It's a bit of semantics but that is why they don't say body cams and dash cams are recording continuously, the footage is not being saved therefore not recording. It is exactly the same way that traffic cameras work whether they be red light cameras, speeding cameras, proximity security cameras, etc recording doesn't happen unless a trigger occurs (i.e. crossing the white line when the light is red), once that trigger happens everything in the buffer as well as the following x number of minutes gets saved to the storage medium. While it's true the cost of storage has decreased considerably, it is still an astronomical amount of storage to record and save continuous footage times however many officers are on patrol. Conceivably, one could argue that the officer or other administrative personnel could review the footage after shift, daily, weekly, whatever but then you have the payroll and associated costs to have someone(s) review and delete video whereby 90% of it contains nothing of probative value or has no evidentiary relevance.
  8. Re: the private conversations while being recorded whether in the shop or on body cam... IRL those cameras are not on during the entire shift but are turned on by the officers when official interaction with the public is anticipated. For shop cams upon dispatch or when the officer begins an "investigation"/pursuit. For body cams sometimes upon dispatch or some precincts generally upon exiting the unit. These procedures are set up this way for a very practical and cost conscious reason; simply put the storage requirements for the video feeds (even low quality feed) is astronomical and prohibitive for constant recording from beginning to end of shift. The other very relevant aspect is union rules and privacy, neither of which are easy to overcome. These are called "ride alongs" and are very common in the law enforcement, fire and paramedic world. They are an outgrowth of community policing and foster a sense of transparency. If a unit is dispatched to a scene or initiates a stop there are very specific procedures regarding the engagement of the "ridee" and where, when, and how they are protected, frequently they are left in the car and can only observe from there. If that scene were to play out in real life and the lady needed to be taken into custody they simply would have called for another squad to come to the scene and transport her. Now, where I did very much have a beef is that you don't just show up in the parking lot, jump in the back seat and go. I don't care if the person you are riding with has the authority to authorize a ride along or not, there is still, at minimum, paperwork that needs to be completed.
  9. I'm late to the party and this is a tad off topic but I'm curious what video game you are referring to here? I think I'd like it. Thanks
  10. I understand the change in free flow of thought if it begins to fee obligatory. So with that in mind, I hope you continue to post here.
  11. Add another vote to keep writing. Right now the only reason I come to the AR forum is to read your posts. I loose myself in your musings and would be very sorry to not be able to keep up with your and your doggie companion's comings and goings. If you absolutely must, I hope you would at least create a blog somewhere and let us all know where we could find your daily commentary.
  12. ack, I'm guessing those things were brought up during the episode, I wish there had been spoiler tags.
  13. I don't mind it going up (gotta take advantage of decent weather when you have it), but I wish it wouldn't be turned on.
  14. Actually, farmers were against DST from the start. They don't work by the clock they work by the sun and morning tends to be the most active for them. All DST did for them was interfere w/ when they were able to interact with suppliers, markets, and such. Children waiting for school buses by the side of the road also had nothing to do with the implementation, reintroduction, or the continuation of DST. That is a "modern" day concern when the subject comes up. When DST was first instituted buses didn't even exist. When it was reintroduced, few children even rode a school bus with almost all kids walking to school. (I'm sure you've heard your grandparents and probably parents had to walk miles both ways uphill thru the snow in shoes with holes in the sole to school - and while that may be an exaggeration the walking part was not.) As mentioned before, those are both 2 very common misconceptions. Below is another reliable source for the history of DST, both confirm my assertions. Also, fun fact, while Benjamin Franklin is credited with coming up with the concept, Germany was the first to introduce DST during WW1 and the US was one of the last countries to jump on board. (Certainly no buses, or even cars, back in Benjamin Franklin's day.) Finally, most people can't adjust their schedules because even when it was instituted, most families schedule's were dictated by work and school which were driven by the clock, not the sun. The extra hour of light equated to saving energy during the war because when they got home from work and school there was still plenty of daylight to allow natural light to illuminate their homes until shortly before going to bed. As promised, another reliable link giving the history of DST... https://www.livescience.com/56048-daylight-saving-time-guide.html
  15. Re: the bolded... kind of like a temperature blanket... What a cool idea, if you get around to it, you must post a pic when it's done.
  16. I was clinically diagnosed with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) almost 30 years ago and have been using a therapeutic light box since my diagnosis. A couple things to keep in mind when selecting and effectively using a therapy light 1) it needs to emit light at 10K lux 2) should emit minimal UV light 3) should be used on a consistent schedule from very early fall through well into spring 4) should be positions just off to the side or just above eye level and don't shine it directly toward your face or eyes 5) it is most definitely possible to over do it so should aim for a session of 20 - 30 minutes 6) mornings, shortly after waking is generally the recommended time of day, too late an you may have trouble falling or staying asleep. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/seasonal-affective-disorder/in-depth/seasonal-affective-disorder-treatment/art-20048298 eta: I didn't realize all the posts I was reacting to were yours. I must be connecting with you on some cosmic level today 😉
  17. I love that you are taking such delight in the details of winter. I'll try REALLY hard to see and experience it from a perspective similar to yours because frankly I HATE it. Maybe if I can enjoy the little unique things about it again I may be able to find some appreciation for it, doubt I'll make it to joy but baby steps.
  18. Just FYI, we just started Standard time. Daylight Saving Time is from 2nd Sunday in March to 1st Sunday in November. So if you're wanting what we just changed from you are wanting DST all year long. And it was not for the good of school children nor for farmers which are the two most common misconceptions, it was advocated to save energy during wartime and to allow people to take advantage of the natural light well into evening. https://www.almanac.com/content/when-daylight-saving-time
  19. They use the same pool of models week to week, to me no plus size model has stuck out to be much bigger or disproportionate to the other models in past weeks. If it appeared so this week then it is likely due to clothing.
  20. I don't remember about the son (didn't even remember there was a son) but she was shot down running away after they thought they had taken John out and as the van was speeding away. If she was in on it, they didn't want her alive to spill the dirt.
  21. No, they were hedging their bets. They were making sure they were the ones who directed the boot, if not their 1st choice person, and "just in case" the idol was played, at least their 2nd choice would go out. If they were flushing out the idol they would have made it known they were voting Evie so that the idol would have been played, thus "flushing" it. The boot would have been the same but they also would have gotten the idol out of Xander's hands.
  22. I left this board over a year ago but decided to venture back briefly when I read about Christine, I'm shocked and wish her nothing but the best. What compelled me to post though is the misconception regarding Mykelti's use of the word "lick" in this context, in fact she was quite correct in her word choice. It's not used in this manner as often as it used to be but it was quite common for people to refer to others getting or giving a "licking" as in a spanking, thrashing, or similar. And I'm sure many of you remember the famous brand phrase of a once very popular watch that "takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'"? But just in case you need more convincing see definition 2 from Merriam Webster lick verb \ ˈlik \ licked; licking; licks Definition of lick (Entry 1 of 2) transitive verb 1 a(1): to draw the tongue over (2): to flicker over like a tongue b: to take into the mouth with the tongue : LAP 2 a: to strike repeatedly : THRASH b: to get the better of : OVERCOME, DEFEAT https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/lick
  23. I dislike the sheer gown look also, agree they are only wearable as sexy lingerie for one's lover and would be aghast if I ever saw someone wearing such a thing in person. With that in mind, I'm looking for clarification on your vision, when you say nude lining are you thinking something like a nude bodysuit or more of a gown lining? Because those would be very different looks one highlights the human form and the play of light and shadows and is a little scandalous (which I think is what the designer is going for) whereas the other highlights the gown.
  24. Oh my, wouldn't that be something the inadvertent love child. 🤣
  25. What human boy? If you're referring to Dal, he's definitely not human. From what I can remember, he's either purple or blue and has spots across his forehead and below and around his neck. Plus, they're in the delta quadrant and while we've seen a couple instances where humans have found their way there, they are few and far between. Only twice that I can recall; 1) 7 of 9 whose parents tailgated a borg ship through a transwarp conduit and 2) the time they discovered Amelia Earhart and a few others who were in stasis and were brought there by aliens (I can't remember who, how, or why though),
