  1. Newsom comes off as kind of a typical slick politician, but I still mostly like him. I agree with a majority of what he says, anyway. The panel was a love/hate thing for me, as I love Ari Melber, can't stand Andrew Sullivan. He's a go-to guy for this show, unfortunately, and he gets more insufferable with every appearance. What a fool. And the braying trained seals that make up Bill's audience applaud for everything that comes out of his ignorant mouth. Ugh.
  2. Meanwhile was exceptional last night! Rub One Out N' Bounce!
  3. Back to 2/5 😐 Tue/Wed. Loved Pop Tarts as a kid, ate the unfrosted variety, because that's all that was available! Now, at least in my local markets, it's the other way around.
  4. I always wind up LOLing at at least one joke in every Surprise Inspection, and thinking, how did that not make the monologue??
  5. That's the most ridiculous wood burning stove set-up I've ever seen. That thing obviously never gets used. To the right of it is an iron rack that looks like it's meant to hold firewood, and, of course, it's empty!
  6. Is this show ever coming back? It should have returned this week when every other late night show did. It's not on the CC schedule for next week. Considering how it's floundered since Trevor left, I couldn't blame CC for quietly pulling life support from TDS. It hasn't been very good lately, and they've even resorted to bringing back guest hosts for a second stint, when they weren't very good the first time around. I bet every fan of the show could come up with a name or two of people they think could be great hosts (John Fugelsang and Hal Sparks are on my wish list), and deserve a shot, but TPTB don't seem engaged enough to notice, or care to put in the effort. IMO, get some motivated people in charge who are invested in energizing the show, or end it. The clueless group presently running things is just floundering in the dark.
  7. That looks like a fireplace that never gets used. When I had one of those, it was a disaster in the middle of winter, with bits of wood and dirt all around it that had to be swept up daily. But that thing is spotless. Mine never got that clean, not until spring! And wood railings that close to something that radiates heat? Genius! Re comma usage, a good rule to remember: a well-placed comma is the difference between helping your uncle, Jack, off a horse, and... 🙂
  8. Upcoming Catchy Comedy binges: 1/27- Brooklyn Bridge; 1/28 - Brooklyn Bridge, Bob, Square Pegs; 2/3 - That's My Mama!; 2/4 - That's My Mama!, The Royal Family; 2/10-11 - Gilligan's Island; 2/17 - The Flying Nun; 2/18 - The Girl with Something Extra, Gidget.
  9. 3/5; a good midweek, the bookends, not so good. So no * 🙁
  10. I remember when this happened. It freaked me out, because I was a young kid, the same age as many of the victims, and took a bus to school every day. This is recommended viewing, especially for those who don't know much about this incident. That's got to be many people, because it's been all but forgotten. One lasting legacy, though, is the emergency response given to kids in crisis situations. These days, psychologists and counselors are immediately on the scene to help the victims, and are available afterward to help with any problems that might develop. The Chowchilla kids were totally left on their own. They got zero counseling after such a horrible ordeal. They were sent home, and that was that. How different would the lives of the victims have been if they'd received counseling? They at least have a rewarding legacy, since kids in their situation today would have immediate counseling available. But unfortunately for them, they were the test cases. It's obvious from listening to the survivors, who are now in their 60s, that they've carried that day with them their whole lives. A tough way to leave a good legacy.
  11. Blame the router!!! Have you noticed any French people hanging around?
  12. Was Martha Stewart's Home for the Holidays Topless Christmas Special included? That's always been one of my favorites! I saw most of the special, but didn't see it. The bit with John Malkovich reading to the little kids makes me LOL every time, even after all these years! His dark turn on 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' is hilarious on its own, but the kids put it over the top. They never break once, they just stare sullenly at him the whole time. Even when he looks at them and addresses them directly, they don't break. They never even smile. Great job by the kids! I didn't see Twin Bed, either, another holiday favorite. Though I can't disagree with what was included. There have just been so many hilarious holiday sketches, at this point, that more than two hours is really needed to get to them all.
  13. 3/5, M-Tu-F, so no *. I have a friend who's been in dog agility for years, and I mentioned him to Saber, and she said their paths had crossed a few times. So we had that one degree of separation! Like others here, I'd been wondering why I hadn't heard from her in a while. Such sad news 😢
  14. Kirn seemed to begin every one of his statements with, "I come from a small town..." That got really annoying after seven or eight times. Just answer, you don't have to keep invoking where you grew up. Ray's neck beard was totally out of control. Laura Coates was pleasant and looked like she was having a good time.
  15. Back to 2/5, after briefly surpassing...
  16. Tributes from the cast. Braugher was one of the few actors I liked in everything I saw him in, including the underrated Men of a Certain Age. 😢 A sad day. https://www.nbc.com/nbc-insider/andre-braugher-death-brooklyn-nine-nine-cast-reactions?cid=soc_facebook_x_x_agt_org_x_agt_x_editorial_x_x&utm_source=soc&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=x_x_agt_org_x_agt_x_editorial_x&utm_term=x&fbclid=IwAR2TNESkT4pOl8I9Qc9nC8RKdQloHwX9UFNoHyT6obbl69iLJ7BwioRqYcI
  17. So Jonnyboy helps with the dishes 'every now and then.' What a prince. I bet it's not 'now' very often.
  18. Upcoming Catchy Comedy binges: 12/30 - Bridget Loves Bernie; 12/31 - Bridget Loves Bernie, Fish; 1/6-7 - Love, American Style; 1/13-14 - Happy Days; 1/20-21 - Laverne & Shirley.
  19. It would be kind of amazing if Depardieu was finally held responsible for his behavior. I've been hearing dicey things about him since the Eighties.
  20. 3/5. Perfect Mon-Wed, with a couple of good, although wrong, guesses, to end the week.
  21. Went into last night's FJ 3/3 for the week, hoping to keep the streak going. Didn't understand the clue upon first reading, read it a few more times, and by the end of the think music had come up with Greek. I thought it was a reasonably good guess, maybe even the right one! Yaay, 4/4!! Except not. Oh well. I'll be at least 3/5 this week.
  22. Wondering why Comedy Central doesn't repeat TDS anymore. Every episode used to rerun a couple of hours later, at 1 or 1:30 a.m., then again the next morning. Now it gets one run at 11, and that's it. I guess CC doesn't want to cut down on the 26 hours a day of South Park.
