  1. Triangles don't really bother me all that much but it is almost like Kreisberg is saying "Yes, we know a bunch of you like Oliver and Felicity together, so the only way this can work is if we make it into a triangle!" Like, WTF that doesn't make any sense. They seem to believe that they have a good thing going with O/F, so why are they convinced that they need a second option for Felicity? Their logic is totally messed up.
  2. This discussion is too funny. I'm cracking up. Well, actually, no! Why would the audience need a second option when they are pulling for the first? That's a dumb thing to say but I'm OK with it if it gets Oliver and Felicity together.
  3. Out of loyalty, I stuck with Smallville until the bitter end. I think that I kept hoping it would get cancelled so that I could just STOP, but I seem to have that problem with a lot of shows that I watch. I just can't let go. I despised Lana...it was actually very difficult for me to give Kristin Kreuk a chance in anything else after that because I found Lana soo annoying. I didn't browse online forums back then, so I didn't actually realize that Lois was disliked by a lot of people. I like Erica Durance and found her spunky in that role. With Chloe and Clark, I always had the impression that he pretty strongly friend-zoned her early on, so I never thought that was going anywhere and never got attached to them as a couple. Probably a good thing, I guess, or I would have been seriously annoyed with how that turned out. Nowadays, I've learned not to get too attached to a couple until lots of positive progress in their relationship is made, so I don't ship it too much unless we get flirting, dates, kisses, etc.
  4. I agree and think that the phrase should be completely banned. The majority of the time it is used as a way to insult those who don't agree with one's particular character or couple preference. The EPs have claimed that they give us what we need, not what we want, so when I see something on screen that I don't like, I blame the EPs and think, "I don't really need that at all." In regards to the info about Laurel in the lair, well, after 46 episodes there's just nothing that can save the character for me. It's a lose lose situation, really. If Laurel and Felicity/Diggle interact and Laurel is rude to them, I will just hate her even more. If they try to make L/F/D friends, it will just irritate me to see a character I dislike inserted into my favorite part of the show. I think that too much of this hinges on KC being able to come off as warm and friendly towards Felicity/Diggle, and I'm not sure that she can do it. My preference is for them to never interact but clearly that's not happening, so...
  5. From the Spoiler Thread: I believe that they also made character comparisons to Lois and Clark, but then tried to claim that people misinterpreted that. We could have an entire thread dedicated to the crazy shit that these EPs say.
  6. Geez, I thought that Roy was going to be Arsenal at some point down the line, but they must be accelerating his storyline too if they've already got him in costume. So, he goes from slapping water to a coma to Arsenal. Nice journey there, EPs. They really do a shitty job with these metaphorical "islands."
  7. I prefer to remain in denial and believe that these interviews have been worded in such a way that nothing is being promised. Then, if things go terribly wrong and this is an epic fail, they can back out and tell Laurel fans that they never said that Laurel would actually become her comic counterpart, just that she would be working towards that goal. Just because you make big strides in achieving a goal doesn't mean you ever actually will. Yes, I know, TOTAL denial :)
  8. I had posted this big long thing about Laurel in another thread but then realized many of the quotes had to do with that thing we're not to talk about right now, so here is the basic gist of what I posted: Before season 2 started, Kreisberg gave an interview and talked about Laurel's evolution and how we get from point A to point B with her character. About halfway through season 2, Kreisberg gave another interview about how they think about everything that they do, and they have a wonderful plan for Laurel. With season 3 starting soon, Guggenheim gave a recent interview to tvline saying: So, I basically think that the EPs are delusional. They sure do like to keep promising things that never happen, so I wouldn't be surprised if nothing "comes to fruition" and when season 4 comes around, I can see them saying, "We have wonderful things planned for Laurel. These last 69 episodes have all been leading up to this." This actually makes me hopeful because maybe the EPs aren't as enamored with Laurel as it appears, and maybe she will be kept in a holding pattern all season long and then be written out.
  9. This may be a really stupid question, but why doesn't Danny (the guy who has the dog partner and secret girlfriend) wear blue like the rest of the crew? He always has a khaki shirt and khaki camo pants on. Speaking of Danny, I thought it was funny when he was giving the guy the choke hold and he said, "Go to sleep." So that's the secret to performing a successful choke hold. I also liked Adam Baldwin's reaction to discovering that they had been eating monkey meat. I'm probably terrible, but I wouldn't have been opposed to them using sick people to test the cure on. The sick likely have a death sentence anyway, so they might even be willing to take a test cure. What if the monkeys are immune to the virus just like the dog is? You would have thought we would have encountered some dead or sick monkeys along the way, but nope.
  10. Joss to Shoe Guy (about Harry): "He's like a brother. That would never happen in a million trillion years." So that's totally happening, right? Commencing Joss/Harry hookup in 3...2...1. April is so judgy towards Karen. "You started an affair with a married man knowing he was married. I didn't do that. We're not the same." No, April, but you did go back and sleep with the guy after you knew he was married, so you really aren't all that different even if you like to think so. Plus, you know, you're basically guilty of insurance fraud, so you're not as good of a person as you think you are.
  11. I actually think that Laurel is written pretty consistently but the EPs present her as something she definitely is not. Laurel is written as manipulative (we find out she snatched Oliver up before Sara could and she blackmailed multiple people), she is a constant victim (always kidnapped, wondering why everyone leaves her), she doesn't accept responsibility for the things that happen to her (blaming the Arrow for Tommy getting killed, being outraged when she lost her job because of her drug usage), she's generally just mean (throwing an exploding glass at her dinner party, being awful to her dad when he tried to get her help for her alcohol/drug issues, not being very happy to find her sister alive), etc. So, Laurel doesn't seem very nice to me, but she is consistently awful.
  12. Yeah, she did. I keep waiting for Celia to mention this again and explain that she understands what Gillian was facing in her situation with Eddie, but apparently the show has retconned this little tidbit out of existence, too.
  13. I swear that Gillian never actually admitted to putting Eddie out of his misery by hitting him on the head with a piece of wood. Alan said this, yes, but didn't we only see Gillian admit to finding Eddie and not calling for help immediately? I thought that each time Gillian has told the story, she has consistently said that she found Eddie and should have called the police but didn't. Am I imagining this?
  14. I guess that I interpreted Laurel's journey differently. To me, Laurel being an alcoholic and a drug abuser had nothing to do with Felicity/Sara whatsoever and everything to do with the EPs deciding that alcohol and drug addiction were going to be Laurel's "island." The drugs and alcohol were meant to tear Laurel down until she hit rock bottom, and then she would emerge a stronger person, ready to take on the Black Canary role in season three. Here's a TVLine interview where they discuss this: http://tvline.com/2014/01/14/arrow-season-2-spoilers-oliver-versus-slade-laurel-felicity-diggle/ Per Andrew Kreisburg: Also from the same interview: So I guess that Laurel had to look drunk and stupid because she was supposed to be drunk since she was being "put through her paces."
  15. Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention something in my first post. I didn't like how Alan told Celia that Eddie was an alcoholic and an abuser, but he supposed it wasn't Eddie's fault because he grew up in "care" (like foster care or an orphanage or something, is what I'm assuming). You would think that Alan would have a little more sympathy for the situation that Gillian found herself in, but I guess not.
  16. Whoever is feeding him could slip it into his food. I'm sure this is something that they will never explain just like Malcolm magically being not dead. One of the EPs said something about Laurel getting a love interest too this season. Do we think that it is such big news that they are waiting for SDCC (or some other big event) to announce that? I can't believe that the casting news didn't come out with the Brandon Routh casting news, but maybe said love interest doesn't show up until later in the season. Here's hoping they do a chemistry test this time.
  17. Yes, several times throughout the season, I said (to myself, of course) "Oh Laurel, the writers hate you." There's such a weird disconnect between how she is written and how the EPs believe the character is being presented. She's supposed to be strong, but she's damseled all of the time; she knows Oliver like she knows her own name, but he was a serial cheater who fathered a child with some other girl (this made me wonder...hmm...maybe you don't know your own name---maybe you were adopted or something); she's supposedly smart, but she doesn't lock her doors or check the peephole before inviting strangers in; the law should be sacred to her, but she goes around blackmailing people and shoots a guy in the back several times, etc. So I have to wonder, is this intentional or what?
  18. Like BkWurm1, I saw this more as the EPs tearing Laurel down as part of her "island" than propping. I'm pretty sure that the EPs even confirmed in several interviews that this is what they were doing...I remember that they kept saying things were going to get much worse before they got better. I don't have any sources on that and don't plan on finding the interviews, but that's just how I interpreted Laurel's storyline, anyways. I never saw Felicity as propping Laurel because the two pretty much never interacted, and their storylines were completely independent of each other. I feel like Laurel could have been completely removed from the show (and she practically was in the first half), and nothing would have changed between Felicity and Oliver, because their storyline was more about setting Felicity up as a partner and love interest.
  19. To me, it feels like this whole business with Alan thinking that Gillian may have actually killed Eddie feels like a retcon to create a rift between the two. When it was spoken about in the first season, all I recall is that Robbie thought maybe it wasn't suicide but I don't recall Alan having any doubts. Please correct me if I am wrong, though, since I think I saw the first season over a year ago. I figured that Caroline was going to have a freak-out over one of her sons getting beat up and the other getting drunk, but I guess she was too distraught over Kate. I'm not sure I'd be asking Celia and Alan to watch the kids again, though (not that the mugging was their fault). Caroline and John sure have raised some angry boys. I had to laugh at Celia "gently" breaking the news about Maurice. "Alan sit down. Maurice is dead." Geez, Gillian could have done that over the phone.
  20. From the Matt Mitovich interview: What exactly have they been "gearing up for"? Laurel's story has kind of been just aimlessly wandering all over the place for the last two seasons. Also regarding Laurel: What about, you know, everyone else who watches the show? Do they only write Laurel story arcs with her fans in mind?
  21. It doesn't sound like Roy has much going on in the first three episodes. Colton Haynes does seem like a really nice guy, though...very complimentary to all of his fellow castmates. However, I'm thinking that he has to be majorly overhyping Laurel at this point. How much ass shredding can she be doing in the first three episodes, especially considering the fact that the Kreisberg just said today that putting on a mask and running around will get you killed? It's doubtful anyone from the show knows what Laurel's future role will be since the EPs probably haven't bothered to think ahead beyond the three episodes that have already been written. Planning doesn't seem to be their strong suit.
  22. I think that I had seen some KC fans speculating about Ted Grant showing up when those boxing ring photos showed up, so I think it's already out there. I'm sure that whoever the love interest is, he will somehow have to be tied to Oliver since everything on Arrow revolves around him. If he's not associated with Oliver, then it will just be more of Laurel's storyline being completely separate from the rest of the show (which is good for those who fast forward through those scenes, I guess).
  23. WHAA??? I truly had no idea such things existed. I think I read a weird Slade/Oliver fic one time, but not that bizarre. Holy hell.
  24. Aww, but then Aramis would have to watch another man raise all of his children. Sad. :(
  25. Sarah Lancashire was in a fantastic series called All the Small Things. After her husband, the director of the church choir, leaves her for a younger woman, she starts up her own church choir where her autistic son is a member. While rehearsing, one of the young guys from the church begins to have feelings for Sarah Lancashire's character. The program is so named because one of the songs that the choir performs is Blink-182's "All the Small Things." You can find clips online...such an entertaining show and a pleasant surprise.
