I completely understand why they did it, but isn't it kind of dumb that the person that killed Sara would speak with some voice-changing technology? She obviously knew who it was, so they didn't need to hide their identity from her (I know, I know, it's so we can't guess who it is based on the voice). I find the "Who Killed The Canary" tweet from the EPs hilarious. Anyone else feel like they are asking for good ideas from viewers because they haven't yet decided who actually killed Sara/ordered the hit? I hope that the EPs don't try to drag out the Sara murder mystery all season. I don't actually care who killed her (unless it's Laurel). I'm angry that she's dead and I feel like based on all past storylines on this show, the conclusion to this one is going to be so effing stupid and nonsensical.

I've never seen Frozen and haven't wanted to because of that stupid song, but OUAT is actually making me think twice about it. I'm trying to keep pretty spoiler-free about Frozen and Once so I can just enjoy the story as we go. During Arrow's crappy back half of season two, the Hook/Emma stuff on OUAT was all I was really excited about on TV at that time.

I feel like I basically have to avoid commenting at all in the episode threads. I feel like if people know that I've seen Broadchurch, they might be able to make inferences based on my comments. I was OK with Ellie's husband being the killer in Broadchurch because Miller and Hardy had nice chemistry. I was fine with getting the husband out of the way so that maybe sometime in the future, something can happen between the two. Did anyone feel intrigued by a Miller/Hardy relationship, or is that just me? I'm OK with Ellie's husband being the killer in Gracepoint, too, because I just don't like Ellie here. I think that the acting is pretty bad, and Ellie mostly comes off as cold and angry in this version. Ellie was hostile in Broadchurch as well, but relationship between her and Hardy was entertaining to watch. While American Ellie isn't giving Tennant much to work with, I think the accent is affecting Tennant's performance as well. It's like he's focusing so hard on getting the accent right that no emotion is coming through.

No, see, that didn't actually happen. When they reveal that Laurel was the murderer, they show us that she was on vertigo (or whatever drug Oliver was on when he was fighting himself in the episode). She was hallucinating the entire time and in her anger she actually shot her sister with three arrows because she was the one on the roof. She never watched her sister's body hit the dumpster and fall at her feet because that was part of the hallucination. When they do the reveal, they can show us what actually happened. None of the stuff with Laurel and Sara talking actually happens, that is all in Laurel's head. Laurel shows up on the roof and Sara says, "What're you doing here?" Laurel shoots Sara with three arrows and Sara plummets to her death. Everything after that is part of Laurel's drug hallucination as well. I mean, the drug made Oliver believe he was fighting himself, so it could make Laurel believe that she had a nice conversation with her sister followed by her sister landing head first at her feet, right? Sure it could. Sure it could.

I know that is has been mentioned that the ending of Gracepoint is going to be different that the ending of Broadchurch. I'm unclear, however, if that means they may keep the murderer the same but change the circumstances. If we keep the same murderer, I actually don't think that will go over that well with an American audience. We like clues so we can feel smart and solve the crime before the murderer is revealed. Unless they add something in to make Ellie's husband a suspect, there will be no indication of what is coming. I can see people being frustrated that all of these creepy, shady people were introduced as suspects when none of them actually committed the crime.

Target Practice: Poisoned Arrow (The Bitterness Thread)
SonofaBiscuit replied to slayer2's topic in Arrow
I'm bitter that I have to watch Black Canary on this show (which is called Arrow, BTW) at all. I don't care about BC or her training or her rise to become a hero. My single biggest issue with Sara last season was that I felt that she had way too much screen-time. That didn't mean that I wanted her dead or wanted to trade her awesomeness for Laurel...it just meant I wanted her to drop by less frequently in the new season. Now I'm going to have to watch BC again but this time there will be even more of that story? No thanks. If that's the story that they wanted to do, then they should have called this Arrow and Canary.- 5.6k replies

OK, here goes my crazy hopes for Laurel's arc this season (this is all pure speculation, of course). So, who killed The Canary? Answer: Laurel Lance. Either A.) Laurel hired someone to kill Sara or B.) She killed Sara in some crazy drug induced hallucination like Oliver had in this episode. Sara stole her life (according to Laurel), so Laurel decided that she was going to steal Sara's life...literally. So, let's say that KC does have a three year contract and the contract stipulates that she must become Black Canary. The EPs have already admitted that they know that people have issues with Laurel. Maybe they want to get rid of her, but they have to make her BC first and run out the time on her contract. They can't tell KC that they plan on writing her out of the show because it may piss her off and she may become uncooperative. So, they write this entire season as if Laurel is training to become BC. Then, whenever they decide to reveal who actually killed Sara, KC is shocked to read the script and find out that it is her! Laurel is either taken to jail by her father and locked up for 20 to life for murder, or she's taken out by any number of people (Nyssa, Ra's, Oliver) as vengeance for murdering Sara. If they choose to go the drug hallucination route, they can show us Sara's death scene again, but they would show us the truth for how that whole thing actually went down. I know it will probably never happen, but this is my hope for how the story goes.

Social Media and Behind the Scenes: AKA Everything Else Not "News and Media"

What was this all about? Unfortunately, that link isn't working for me right now. -
No, he's a Doctor. Haha. I kid, I kid. Gosh, Tennant's hair is so red in this! I'm still having a problem with some of the acting in this...wish they would have done a better job with casting parts. It is very hard to make any comments when you have already seen the original! I don't want to give anything away.

I apologize because I know these same things get asked over and over, but I don't really want to go back through pages of this forum to find the answer. I'm super lazy like that. Which episode of Arrow is the one that Felicity will mostly be missing from based on the spoilers?

I have created a scenario in my head where it wasn't really Sara that fell to her death. It was DoppelSara - some woman that had a face transplant like John Travolta and Nicholas Cage in that movie, Face Off. DoppelSara also had some sort of voice-changing tech to make her sound like the real Sara. The real Sara is being held prisoner on a boat somewhere and will be revealed to be alive in the last episode that airs right before the mid-season break. Whoever has the real Sara has kidnapped her and made everyone believe that Sara is really dead in an attempt to get Ra's to show his face because they are after him for some reason.

Target Practice: Poisoned Arrow (The Bitterness Thread)

Oh my gosh this is so funny. It's like that game where you have a list of items and you win by collecting them all. Jacket? Check! Mask? Check! Oh, I'd better grab the wig before they bury Sara. Honestly, though, I'm not OK with Laurel wearing her dead sister's possessions. So tacky! -
The Calm. What a perfectly not-accurate-at-all name for this episode because I'm awfully ragey.

Someone talked about posting in the Writing Wrongs thread, and I'm like, "There's a Writing Wrongs thread?" Don't remember that. Well, then it disappeared so I guess not. There are a lot of threads in here and I have trouble differentiating between some of them.

Anyone else feel like no matter where you post things, it's wrong? I know I see a lot of posts begin with "I'm not sure if this belongs here." This is actually the only forum I have encountered this issue with, and it seems like even when I try to think about where my post belongs, it's wrong. Always wrong :(

Loved Felicity's use of "frak" at QC. I've used that one many a time. Thanks, Battlestar Galactica.

Social Media and Behind the Scenes: AKA Everything Else Not "News and Media"
SonofaBiscuit replied to Zalyn's topic in Arrow
Maybe it let's them know they aren't nearly as clever as they think they are. Probably not, but feedback is always good. It's a way for us to know how we are doing, and here I believe they have utterly failed. -

Yes, please tweet that. Tweet any and all snarky responses because these EPs just. don't. get. it. -
Actually, that was never the plan for EBR and there was an interview linked just today over in the News and Media thread where Guggenheim states: Laurel was supposed to be the love interest, but IMO that utterly failed and at this point, they have switched that focus to Felicity. With respect to them hiring KC as Black Canary, I would say that they hired KC as Laurel Lance. Even if she was hired to specifically become Black Canary, well see above in my post for how plans change. I did like Felicity's line about dangling maybes in front of her because it's a really shitty thing to do to someone: give them hope and then take it all away. I know it wasn't intentional on Oliver's part, but that doesn't make it hurt any less.

Target Practice: Poisoned Arrow (The Bitterness Thread)

Most people are nicer than me because I'm hoping that this show's ratings take a noticeable hit in the coming weeks (not enough to be cancelled but enough for the EPs to take notice). Do I think that this would make a difference? Mmm, probably not considering the fact that the EPs know that Laurel is disliked and have admitted as much. Even if they didn't know, all they would have to do is take a quick look around online. Laurel continues to win worst character awards in polls, I've seen her on two separate worst character lists, and she gets a lot of hate in general all over the internet (IMO). The EPs blindly ignore all of this, so they'd probably ignore decreased ratings as well. I'm going to do what I did in the back half of season two of Arrow. The episodes will go on my DVR, and I will come here to read episode comments. Then I'll wait at least three days to watch the episode and I'll be sure to fast forward through commercials. It probably won't make a difference because I don't have one of those Nielsen box thingys, but it will make me feel better. -
Still. So. Angry. It doesn't feel like the trade for Laurel becoming BC is Olicity. It feels like Olicity just ended before it even had a chance to begin. Even if Olicity actually does happen, I don't trust these A-holes not to kill off Felicity so that their precious dream of Oliver/Laurel can be fulfilled.

So, obviously the EPs are aware that people have issues with Laurel because they've said as much in multiple interviews. When they mentioned how people were anxious for her to strap on the fishnets and start fighting crime, I just thought that they were talking out of their asses. Turns out they really believe this! I'm really kind of scared for the future of this show since they claim that they know what mistakes they made last season and are working this season to rectify those mistakes. So, should I expect OG Team Arrow to disband, Felicity to die in a fire, and Oliver and Laurel to get back together? WTH show?! I'm not even that big of a Sara fan, but I certainly didn't want her to die. I certainly didn't want her to die so that Laurel could take her place. That ending ruined the episode for me and really kills the excitement I had for this entire season. Damn! I don't think I can let this go. So, for the people that were willing to give Laurel a chance this season: Did that ending change your mind at all?
-
I think that this will come back to bite them in the ass. Whether it's fair or not, I see people blaming Laurel for Sara's death. To make Laurel BC, the EPs had to get Sara out of the way, and I guess they thought that the only way to do that was to fridge Sara. At this point, it actually appears like Laurel will become BC. Suddenly not looking forward to this season anymore. Oh well.

I forgot to add in my post that I think it was a mistake to have Barry and Iris raised together like siblings. That makes a possible future romantic relationship a little icky, and even if I get past the sibling thing, there's still the little problem of Iris not really being into Barry at all. He seems to be firmly stationed in the "friend-zone," and all interaction on Iris's end was pretty platonic. I don't know why the writers created this obstacle when it wasn't really necessary. Barry and Iris could have been life-long friends, but Barry could have been raised by an aunt or grandma to avoid the "you're like my brother" issue.

Overall, I liked the Flash pilot and I think that I'll stick around. I had forgotten that they cast John Wesley Shipp in this, so I smiled when he showed up as Barry's dad. I was surprised that I liked Cisco's intro so much. I thought that it was totally sweet that he was playing Lady Gaga while Barry was in a coma since he knew from facebook that Barry liked that song. I thought that some of the special effects were terrible, but some were cool, like the tornado. I would like to know who wrote the dialogue for The Arrow/Oliver, because that was extremely cheesy and completely out of character. Detective West was a little harsh with Barry when he was telling him that he took Barry in and never asked for anything, not even a thank you (I think that this was right after Barry told Det. West that the villain guy was controlling the weather). Barry was a little kid when Joe took him in and it's not like he grew up to be some ungrateful loser. He grew up to be a smart, driven, talented guy who respects Joe's daughter. I don't know, this just bothered me because it came across like Joe had resented the fact that he had to raise Barry, or something. Iris is OK so far. I didn't see an instant spark with Barry, or anything like that, but there was no anti-chemistry either. I hope that she is clued in to Barry's secret very quickly. How about the showrunners even let her figure it out for herself?
