I thought overall, the show was okay. But for some reason, I really enjoyed it. Love the Foos! Love the ice rink at the end - the skaters and Leslie and Cecily, joined by Melissa (?) standing on the board leaning on each other. Merry Happy everyone!!

I love the Ghirardelli assortment bags at Costco. I really love the Lindor ball assortment bags at Costco. Really. Lindt makes fabulous stuff.

We have a couple of 1 liter kettles. We travel with one, alone with a folding filter basket that will go over a coffee cup. That way, we can get coffee we like and make our own coffee in hotels since the "free" coffee in the room usually sucks. I would love some recommendations for rubber spatulas. I've found they don't actually make "rubber" spatulas anymore (I loved my Rubbermaid ones). The ones I've been using have started (or finished) falling apart. I see silicone seems to be the thing, but I want to make sure they're flexible enough to get all the stuff out of the bowls, but it's hard to tell from the Amazon descriptions. So if you have a favorite brand, I'd appreciate it.

The ET interview was great...until the part about Rosa and Gina. No. Just no.

I agree with all of this except the last point. I wasn't embarrassed by his plugging the movie. I just think that's the way the business operates. And he didn't seem to have any issues with it. (And I've heard really great things about it, to the point where I actually might leave my house to go see it. Might...) I do think the opening might have been way better if a couple of the kids had been better. I felt bad for them, but maybe they needed a bit more rehearsal or something. Most of them were spot on, the the writing worked well for them.

Tonight, I had almonds and Merlot. And now, for dessert, I'm having Merlot. It's been that kind of day.

And I happened to tune in a few weeks ago for the last 2 innings of my birthday game...the one we won with a walk-off Machado Grand Slam. So I now have the best part for posterity! I need to watch more carefully at some point to see if we're on camera since I sprung for good seats that night.

I thought this show was delightful! While I've seen "Went With the Wind" many times, it's never not hilarious!! And I hadn't seen many of the sketches shown tonight for a long time, so I was laughing a lot. Even the current guest spots weren't as cringe-inducing as they could have been (although I do agree about Beth and Kaley - why were they there??). And it's so nice to see so many folks still around - Steve Lawrence, Lyle Waggoner and Bob Mackie!

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

Thanks. I tried to do a little research before I posted and read that there was often a Mass attached to it, so I extrapolated... I shouldn't do that... -

Well, no one actually "has" to be bar/bat mitzvahed, boy or girl. When I was bat mitzvahed, back in the stone age, it was still sorta new that most girls were having one. But still - not required. However, if you do have one, it's about the religious ceremony. Not the party. So the choice of a bat mitzvah or a sweet sixteen seems like a false choice - to me anyway. She could have been bat mitzvahed without the party, then party at sixteen...if that's what she wanted. As I said, if you want to be a debutante, or have a sweet sixteen, or any of that, it's fine. Do what you want. I just don't see the comparison to the religious part. -

I have no opinion of debuts or sweet sixteen parties. If that's what you want, go for it. As a formerly observant Jew (now a cultural Jew, or "Jew-lite" as my sister says) I do quibble with your comparison to bar/bat mitzvahs and quinceanaras, as both of those are (allegedly) religious ceremonies. I realize that not all youngins have to have them, but that's what they are rooted in. The parties are just an incredibly ostentatious extension of the religious ceremony. -

I started on Team Bobby, but moved on to Team David. I was young and undecided. This makes me sad... -
Always interested in Gary Clark, Jr! Love his take on the song - thanks!!

Well shit... I did notice that the show is 90 minutes tomorrow night, so they had to cut a lot out. I thought it would be a 2 hour special so they'd only need to lose about 20 minutes, not close to an hour.

Thoroughly enjoyed this show. I love Chance. He was into everything and he seems like such a good guy. Loved Pete (thanks for the link to the silive article @mtlchick!) I can't think of a sketch that didn't have something funny in it. Even the Bring Your Dad to Class was amusing although it didn't quite land. Hope @Galileo908 had a nice evening :-)

Let’s Talk Interior Design: To Zhuzh Or Not To Zhuzh
ebk57 replied to peacheslatour's topic in Everything Else
I love Mission and Arts & Crafts (FLW-like). Much to my surprise, I've found I kinda like the mid-century modern, too. Of course, looking at my house, you'd never know I had any sense of what style is at all... -
Jimmy and Bill talking about Dave while signing posters. I should see how much those posters are going for, although first I should see if they're actually available.

Not frozen at all. Even after the critics come on the 19th. That's what out of town tryouts are for. Trying out and fixing stuff. They need to cut at least 15-20 minutes from the show. It's 2:45 right now and that's looooong... I'd vote first for cutting the song Regina's mom sings. Kerry Butler is wonderful, but the song isn't needed, doesn't advance any plot, and was probably just written for her because she's wonderful. We've had a bunch of shows in productions at the theatre over my long career. It's always been fascinating to me to see them take shape - what's cut and what stays. Sometimes I disagreed with what was cut (a particular scene in Amadeus comes to mind), but that's why I'm not a director. I obviously have no clue.

So, I saw Mean Girls this past Saturday. If you liked the movie, you should like the show. It's pretty much the movie with songs. The songs are fine. Nothing memorable, but nothing awful. The set worked well. The cast was great, especially Kate Rockwell who played Karen, and Barrett Wilbert Weed who played Janis (I really wish I'd gone to see her in Cabaret last year at Signature). They are re-working a bunch of it this week (poor Mr ebk will have to go in at 8am every day - he really thought once the show opened, it would be better). I won't be going back to check it out, unless I can get in for free (ha!). It was a fun afternoon, but it won't set the world on fire. At least not my world.

Damn. This is incredibly sad...
