  1. This. I had high hopes for it being Happy Endings level quirky and clever. It showed promise of going that way but has kind of turned into a standard sitcom-y thing. Not terrible, just not special enough. I had the same issue with American Auto.
  2. I know there are all kinds of laws against it, but man, it sure did look like Ken purposely tanked it at the end to allow them to win. I always feel like the chasers could probably beat any team but they can’t have a show where contestants always lose and walk away with nothing. I thought the woman in pink was sure acting pretty cocky for someone who only brought $20,000 to the $100,000 bank and then only answered something like 2 or 3 of the last round’s 16 (?) that they got right.
  3. I think only we got to see the finished belt to show when they got it right. Didn’t the contestants have to read a story, figure out the order of the symbols, etc.? I don’t think just copying a belt would’ve been a hard enough task because the actual handiwork didn’t seem that hard. But maybe I misunderstood?
  4. Marina’s Dad (Cheech) doing a puppet show with a bit of Cheech and Chong’s “Dave’s not here...” sketch was a nice wink to old C&C fans. I usually tire of precocious kids in shows, but I really enjoy the children in this one. They’re used JUST enough.
  5. I agree with you about some of the crudeness overload, but as for your other points, I would say keep watching.
  6. It’s possible. I can’t explain the teacher intro stuff, but it looked like Gregory was with older kids this week than the ones who were doing pictures of him last week, so I’m guessing that being a substitute teacher, he kind of has to start all over with the students every time he has to cover a different class.
  7. I’m still going to refrain from saying anything specific so as not to ruin any storylines or jokes for anyone yet. So what I’ll say is that I think it’s lovely that this show is not just about kindness and the superpower of making other people happy, even in the smallest ways, but is also like a love letter to Ricky Gervais’s partner of 40 or so years. Lisa’s middle name on the gravestone is Jane, which is Ricky’s partner’s name. And several years ago she posted about how Ricky would draw faces on lemons and she couldn’t bear to cut them up after he did. It’s a nice extra layer of sweetness to the series to know that some things Tony loved about Lisa were taken from Ricky’s actual relationship.
  8. I thought that’s what she said too! I couldn’t figure out if it was a mistake or a jab at when Biden recently said that there’s a lot to look forward to in 2020. The vocal mix WAS terrible. Bleachers did that first song on the Tonight Show about 6 months ago and sounded 10x better. So there’s a good sound mixer just a few floors away. Maybe it’s just the SNL studio?
  9. Jack Antonoff is a Jersey boy and Bruce actually guest sings on their new album - oddly, on the recorded version of the second song, the less Springsteen-y of the two!
  10. Yes. This exactly.
  11. Oh, I see what you meant. I didn't think he was a teacher - I thought he was the school's IT guy or something like that!
  12. I get the feeling that he's like the eco-warrior of the team and was trying to prove a point. "What is this, an iPhone 9? It's like a Walkman."
  13. I have read interviews where he’s said similar things, so I understand that no one was forcing him. I just feel so bad for him after reading what he went through to be in the last season and I just want him to recuperate and get well. He’s been a favorite of mine since the late ‘70’s.
  14. It seems like Larry adores doing scenes with Richard Lewis, but he is so clearly in pain or immobile that I wish they would’ve let him skip this season.
  15. This. Jeopardy is my wind down after work show. I don’t need to get MORE tense watching it. It’s too bad because she was a sharp player and good on the signaling device. But she came across as completely joyless. I hope she enjoyed playing more than it seemed.
  16. I wonder if they would’ve killed off Alex if they hadn’t just offed Mitch a couple of episodes before. This show really needed more Carell this season to keep it on track. The seasons seem disconnected from each other. Having said that, I went along for the ride all season. But my free year of Apple+ will be up before S3 hits (if they get one) and it wouldn’t inspire me to shell out for a continuing subscription (though Ted Lasso will).
  17. It was Bible-related and I still got it so, yes, it was too easy. LOL
  18. I think that since then a couple of stars have said "flat". I don't remember the first one but Stephen kind of gave him a "wrong choice" expression. Then I believe Springsteen also answered "flat" and Stephen was just like "OK". Can't tell The Boss he's wrong about ANYTHING! LOL
  19. I wasn’t watching closely enough. When Issa sent the message basically telling Crenshawn that he should’ve been appreciative of all the publicity she got him, where did she accidentally send it? Did she think it was a DM to Crenshawn but posted it publicly on Twitter? There was a lot of awkwardness in this episode.
  20. “Tomorrow we’re all going to try to look for jobs in the same branch of Target.” (Who calls a Target store a “branch”?! LOL) I had trouble following all the business mechanations in the episode. No CEO position for me, I guess.
  21. Ditto. And it’s nothing against her. Just that the past couple of seasons they really did a Wiig on her and overused her. So, for me, the break is nice. This show was pretty average. I still think of Taylor Swift as being, like, 19 or 20 years old.
  22. Jeopardy Blind Guess and there’s a Twitter page dedicated to it where people guess every day. Obviously it’s all on the honor system and for fun.
  23. Yes, I felt that was the issue. After the second time she mumbled "hedge farm" he should've ruled incorrect, if not earlier. In the end, it didn't matter. I just wish they were more consistent.
  24. Boy, this brought back memories. I worked at a law firm at the time and everyone was trying to access that report when it went online.
  25. Chris S. has a real Michael Scott vibe going tonight.
