  1. We've seen how the Conners manage bills. He clearly tossed the first 6 notices into the trash unopened.
  2. Blech, shades of Firefly. Can never forgive Fox for that.
  3. By the way, has Ben ate or slept since he leapt? Maybe in that cabin with those escaping teens? Again, my memory of the original is hazy, but I got a sense the pace was slower, he had down time. Am I misremembering?
  4. Ha, that's why I finally decided to watch Breaking Bad, it kept beating my other favourite shows at awards time so I was like, "WTF is this stupid show anyway, how is the father from Malcolm in the Middle winning all these drama acting awards?" Now, of course, I know that it's one of the best shows ever made.
  5. I think you're onto something here. The original had no scenes in HQ. If there was anything important going on there and Sam had to know, Al would fill him in. That meant the stories had 100% focus and that meant they mattered. With this incarnation and the HQ drama, it feels like the stories are distractions from the main plot. So we don't care about the people in the leap, or what Ben's doing, so we kind of don't care about Ben. Even though I do like him. I would be happier if they removed the HQ scenes from the show, made Ian the hologram, and kept the focus 100% with the leaps. Let the audience find out what's going on back at HQ at the same time as Ben does, if you want to continue that part of the story.
  6. That was hilarious. I could see her winning over Atrena it was that good.
  7. Like Amethyst. Although she didn't tell the story well at all, it was more than just pretending to sing.
  8. Exactly. This is the part of the show where a queen can demonstrate a talent that we might not get a chance to see at any other point in the season. To me, even good lipsyncing is not as interesting as bad live singing in the talent show. I think the judges agree, since none of the top 3 did straight lipsyncing. Even Sasha, who did a great lipsync, was only safe.
  9. I was disappointed that the majority of queens had lipsyncing as their talent. As someone else once commented, that should be a given for a queen, not something unexpected. In beauty pageants, contestants don't model swimsuits or ball gowns in the talent portion, since they'll be doing that somewhere else in the competition. So drag queens, who will be lipsyncing somewhere else in the competition, shouldn't do it here in the talent show. For that reason I'm most impressed by the ones who do something else, even if they don't do it well, like Lucy. That said, wow Atrena and Jax were quite impressive.
  10. Oh I was wondering if this topic were going to open. Does the US get it later than Canada? I watched it Friday evening.
  11. It's funny how culture can change pretty quickly sometimes. It wasn't that long ago that viewers would just see a weirdo, but now, with mental health campaigns, many of us recognize a sad kid who hasn't processed the death of a loved one and could use some sensitivity. Which, of course, he doesn't get from these people, who are from that time when most people didn't think of mental health like we do now. So, points for realism, I guess.
  12. I like Freddie, he's charming, hope he sticks around. What happens to a car ghost when the car finally falls apart for good? Are auto scrapyards full of ghosts just standing around next to the compacted husks?
  13. Why would NBC stop programming at 10pm? Are they going to move their national news program earlier? CBC did that quite a number of years ago now.
  14. Is it just me, or did Bakula have more nuance to his performance? I haven't watched the original since first run, so I don't remember specific episodes, but I have the sense that Bakula would moderate his acting to suggest mannerisms of the person he was inhabiting. While the new guy is not as subtle and is always the same no matter whose body/life he's in. Am I imagining this?
  15. Promising. I was surprised a network procedural was not closing the case in one episode. Not sure I'll have a fuller opinion until this first case is completed.
  16. That's only because the actress playing Addison isn't very good, specifically she is not capable of subtlety.
  17. I wonder if it's still showing on Crave in Canada, or if it's moving to MTV Canada. I have Crave, I don't have MTV.
  18. I was very happy to see the positive reaction from Mark's mom, but I still felt a stronger emotional impact from De'Bronski in Jackson. I still think that would have been the better finale.
  19. Yeah I wish they had longer seasons, but I guess the logistics for a premise like this are pretty challenging.
  20. Florida part 1 was clearly all set up. I'm curious to see if part 2 (season finale) can beat De'Bronski for emotional impact.
  21. I said after Icesis left that Ra'jah was the best of who was left, so not surprised she won, but damn I was really afraid for a second that they'd give it to Silky anyway. Speaking of, I think Silky and Rita were roughly equal in their match-up, so it would have been nice to see a Canadian in the final lip sync, but I guess they wanted the drama of the Siamese twins finally facing off. All I can say is, they're lucky Icesis left, otherwise we know who would have won this.
  22. Apparently the final season begins airing on CBC on January 3rd (happy birthday to me!) If anyone's seen the episode description, you'll know..
