  1. Except that as Bruce and Caitlyn -- and more than once -- s/he has said it's NOT about that. Dress and make up are elements OF the change and part of how it's manifested....but that doesn't mean that's what its ABOUT. The prof said there IS a certain freedom that comes with being able to be how you feel you should be (makeup, clothes or whatever)...but she hopes the exuberance about those things aren't perceived to be what' it's about.
  2. ^^ THIS. The lisp starting happening a while ago, even on the Kardahsian show. I think it's the result of some of the facial surgery in the mouth, teeth , jaw, gums area. I think something happened during that restructuring. Also one eye, the left, think seems pulled tighter than the other, it's a little "off."
  3. I never thought about that, but you may be right. "What's My Line" is among my al time favorites. Along with "Jeopardy" and older gems including "Beat the "Clock," "Concentration" and a Tom Kennedy show called "Split Second." I'm sure there are others but those immediately come to mind. Oh yes an "$10,000 Pyramid." But I HATED the most times there was on smart and one dumb celebrity. So you knew that when the contestant moved over to be with the dumb one...that the person would have bust their ass to win, because G-d knows the celebrity was dumb as rocks, and would be a hinderance instead of a help. Because of that I've always tended to like shows where whether I win or lose depends on what I myself know or do. I don't need a dumb celeb being the reason I lose. And thanks (arrrgggh) :):) for the "What's My Line" mentions...I went to YouTube and watched HOURS of the shows mystery (celebrity) guests scenes. I was almost late for work! The way the panel asked questions, how good they were at guessing who it was.....I only saw TWO they missed (out of the dozens I saw). There were more to see, I just didn't have time.
  4. 1) Uh, Amanda and Candace definitely DID talk about possible pregnancy...that was a big topic of discussion after the preg test was found, because Candace knew the test wasn't hers but told Jim it was (in a quickie off the cuff blackmail attempt that went nowhere) ...and then later asked Amanda about it. 2 I know Amanda was raped. My question was whether there’s any PROOF of it – photos, rape kit tests, the prof’s -- uh DNA, etc. (and even his DNA wouldn’t prove it was rape, just that they had sex, and not even that just that HE – uh got off) This is key for me because if Jim just shows up making allegations WEEKS later, that’s all they are allegations...ESPECIALLY with the alleged victim DEAD. So unless there’s diary where Amanda wrote about it or some contemporaneous corroboration (which still likely wouldn’t lead to charges or a conviction)....they really need to just drop the whole thing. She's dead, that entire storyline has been dead this long (no pun intended) why bring it up now......what’s the point of backtracking?
  5. For me this show clearly proves MDL NY, and LA are enough. Bravo just need to come up with ANOTHER, DIFFERENT show. Real Housewives was a concept that has worked, for whatever reason in six cities now. Washington, D.C. was the only flop...and working there...I KNEW it WOULD bomb...because they went the wrong direction with it, and cast it poorly, because no real power/society people in DC would deign to be on the show..... So..for DC they should have gone more the Atlanta route and gotten wannabes or social climbers, because in DC -- the same socio-economic HWs they got for NY's show....wouldn't dare in on the DC show. Just a different social caste and MINDset altogether...in terms of being on a show like this. I used those example to say that not all shows can be spun off or expanded 3 or 4 times in different cities. MDL is NOT a show that can do that. For all the great real estate San Fran DOES have. CLEARLY MDL is not the show or showcase for it....or like the DC HW example......the REAL movers and shakers didn't want to be on the show.....I'd say wrong city AND perhaps wrong cast. Something about these realtors are not enticing me. Maybe also I feel like it's overdose time on MDL...enough already. Perhaps if this show hadn't premiered RIGHT AFTER NY was over. It's like Bravo wants and feels it needs an MDL show on ALL. YEAR. ROUND. (like the Housewives). Yo, Bravo...give me a chance to miss them...and WANT then to come back. (instead of not watching and wishing they were gone)
  6. 1) Wyatt did have a girlfriend. And they did kiss. She came to the hospital and we saw her at the house. They never got to make out because TP wrote her out, after the Jeff interference. 2) Uh so we haven't seen Jim/Kat actually confront the prof....because with no proof why does't he just say "I don't know WHAT you're talking about? Who told you what? You're crazy? These are serious UNFOUNDED allegations you're throwing around. And defamatory." But this IS TP we're talking about so I guess we'll see what happens. Because If all this is happening with in days, TECHNICALLY aren't we just still just weeks after the rape? Some episodes it seems like days should have passed with in the same episode, then it's all really one or two days, or same day. Was Amanda's decline over just one week...because remember how "fast" candace passed the bar? These folks sure get around town, from the Harrington house, to Jim's House, to the university, to the hospital, to political events in the blink of an eye. Hell...how long was Benny in the hospital? I know the man had a speedy recovery, but damn he was in a COMA for at least a week's time, no? Then he's up an out of bed with NO "apparent" residual healing or recuperation needed. He's back at work towing cars... And the candace kidnapping of Jim was all just one night... I just can't get the time line on some of this stuff 3) No. OR maybe "yes and no" :):) I'm just back from vacation. And thought I'd check in here to get my updates. As I've said I have no intention of EVER watching any more episodes from credits to credits. This crapola is up against Real Housewives of NY, and I much prefer that, So I'll tune to this TP mess on the commercials of the other show. And sometimes I tune in, see crap, and go BACK TO the COMMERCIALS and just wait for RHW to come back from break...that's how little time I've been giving this show when it's on. That's how disgusted I am with it. This thread is enough "fix" for me. Thanks to good people like you:):)!
  7. Haven't sen the show in 2 weeks, can someone fill me in? -- Remind me...is there any PROOF the prof raped Amanda. I remember that Candace had (blackmail) pics of the prof, because he was a client (and she used them to pass her test) -- but I don't recall any PROOF that would have of the Amanda rape. Couldn't the prof play dumb -- like "I don't know what the hell you're talking about?" -- Candace was hit over the head, by whom, when? Someone mentioned Jim running for governor....uh, please don't tell me that's still on. All this is going on: Veronica's craziness, her nonsense with Benny, the fire at the Harrington house, Amanda dead, David getting a job for Candace, Jim taking Wyatt to jail, switching inmates.....and Jim and David are STILL going to run for governor. Also what the time line on all this shit....has a day passed, a week? Some plot lines don't seem to be moving pace with others. I know this is not the show for realism, but damn. I know a lot of shit goes on in politicians lives that happen on the QT, but this is ridiculous. WHERE ARE THE MEDIA IN THIS TOWN. NO REPORTERS are tailing ANY of these people? NO reporter has gotten a tip about ANY of these powerful, political, rich people..AND possible GUBERNATORIAL candidates -- and their shenanigans . (Because David and Jim's announcement technically never happened. So as of now they're NOT official candidates. If nothing else, THAT would get reporters curious.) And as was said also, WHY have Kathryn and Jim, or David put a PI on ANY of their nemeses, or kids, or whoever? None of these powerful people know what any of the other players are REALLY up to? Pathetic. The Harringtons and Cryers are pathetic Victor Newman, Palmer Courtland and Asa Buchanon would eat their lunch...not to mention J.R. Ewing of "Dallas" fame. (For those too young to know those last four are powerful day or prime time soap opera tycoons)
  8. I guess I hope the show has its fans, but this show just isn't doing it for me. The realtors don't seem comfortable yet, but yet they all seem to be playing to the camera -- while being ill at ease. Example: for me, the scene with Roh making his pitch to the developer to -- of course -- get the EXCLUSIVE penthouse listing....seems so "been there, done, that." Because -- of course -- it WAS...Roh said the same. old. tired. pitch. we've heard every. time. a MDL realtor wants and exclusive...only he was so uncomfortable it just came of as uetterly staged. I was almost as if I could see and hear producers saying, "No let's stop. you have to do it again." It was like he was remembering lines in a script....either that our they through him into this client set-up and was told to just wing it. Either way this show is just sad. Also, sorry San Fran...you don't have the real estate p o r n to compare to NY or LA......or, if you do have it....we sure haven' seen it on this show (yet). And with out that, this show sucks. ETA.....oh, yeah, and the negotiations are the same, too. Client: "Let's pull the house off the market," or I want to up the price," or "you made promises I think I need a new agent if you can't deliver. MLD Agent: "This is not what I was hoping for," or "I really need to come through on this sale, "Or I really need to get the buyer to come up," or "This is the biggest deal of my career," or I really want to work with this developer," or "We need to get top dollar," "This is going to be a challenge," or "I know I can make this sale work," or "I'm NOT sure I can make this sale work", or "I will work for you harder than anyone else," or "No one has my connections," or "No, no, no that price is to high," or "This is crazy the price is too low." (Edited for typos.)
  9. Maybe it's me, I was raised in a sheltered conservative environment..... I don't see how there is any defense for the sheer irresponsibility of what LuAnn and Ramona did, by bringing guys they didn't know back to the house. PERIOD. If they want to sleep with a guy they don't know -- that they just pick up somewhere, fine (although I do have opinions about that) --BUT don't bring him back to the house where the other women are...putting THEM in danger as well -- is soo beyond not OK. They can put their lives at risk all they want -- NOT someone else's. Heather and Carole were absolutely correct. And I'd also wake Ramona and LuAnn up -- with a "get the fuck up right now." Ohhhh I'd have some words for them alright. And just because the men didn't get in the wrong bed or try something with the other women...that makes it OK? Wow.
  10. A show PRODUCER(S), knew the men came back right? Did none of them stay up, to make SURE either they the men left, OR that they stayed where they belonged (with the woman they came with. I'm not saying sit outside the door and listen.....I'm talking about making DAMN sure that some STRANGER two of the women brought home when they were DRUNK and IMPAIRED, didn't so some thing crazy. Oh, the men were only interested in hooking up and wouldn't do anything crazy with so many people around? Really? God forbid one of the men HAD gotten up to go to the kitchen OR bathroom or pool...and gone back to the wrong room? If you're drunk and in a house you don't know they could have very easily done that (quite innocently actually). Heather was ABSOLUTELY right to go off of LuAnn and Ramona. I would have been all in their shit AND the producers too and not saved it for the camera. There IS no defense or justification for what happened none -- period.
  11. I have no idea where to put this....but I never expected to love as many British TV shows as I do. In the D.C. area we have a PBS channel that's all British programming and it's one of my go to channels. I confess I was HIGHLY irate with the local PBS station took away Create and replaced it with UK programming. But I'm OK with it now. (....three-plus years later.:)) I love almost all the police dramas. Heck, I know Inspector Morse is 20 years old.....but it's new to me and I'm loving it. And Father Brown, George Gently, and DCI Banks, and Dr. Blake Mysteries, Mrs. Fisher Murder Mysteries, Rosemary and Thyme, and Inspector Lewis, and Midsomer Murders (how many people can get killed in that damn county in one episode week after week!. And there are other shows....Pie in the Sky which also 20-plus years old, Hetty Wainwright, Red Cap, Endeavour, Scott an Bailey, Whitechaple, and more. (MI-5 is too violent for me.) I've loved a fair number of Britcoms for years now. But some of the dramas are new to me. Is there catch-all a thread for British programs?
  12. I have to admit, I watched the show, but I really wasn't paying all THAT much attention. I missed the very, very beginning, and as was doing something else so I couldn't really devote my undivided attention. Thoughts...SO FAR: -- NOT feeling that we need ANOTHER MDL -- The realtors are OK. Nothing against them. BUT like other shows -- from Survivor, to the Bachelor, to the Housewives, to Big Brother to The Profit.....once a show has been on -- cast members or people chosen for the subsequent season already know what the show is about, and play to that, and what producers are looking for -- and what to do to MKE them "famous'. Everyone knows what to do to try to be the breakout personality. AND IT CHANGES SOME INTANGIBLE "X FACTOR" ABOUT THE SHOW. -- It's clear to me these realtors are coming in --TRYING to be cool...playing to the audience. And I don't like that. The tall blond one -- in one clip I saw (from a promo) -- even says about being a number 1 realtor, in a teasing and bragging way that he has sold more real estate the Fredrik....who's on another frigging show. Why is he referring to Fredrik....he has nothing to DO with that. But clearly he's playing to that to make HIMself more famous or relevant. - HATE that the producers are heard asking question questions during the interviews.....I was like, so what is this?....now THEY are part of the damn show? -- Like I said, I wasn't paying attention that much...so MAYBE that's why I didn't get the real estate p o r n that I watch these MDL shows for. I'm sure San Fran has some great houses...but I didn't see what I was hoping for...but maybe I just happened to tune in on just the non-showings/open house scenes. -- Wait a minute, I did see the open house that one of the supporting realtors invited the SELLER/OWNER to......really??!! And she changes her mind about sellign. So OF COURSE, we have to see the hea realtor angry with his underling...talking about WHY he inviting the frigging OWNER? DId that owner get drunk or something? I can't remember if she slurred her words, but she didn't sound right at that open house when she was talking about raising the price, and having second thoughts. I'll watch again....to give the show another chance, but 1) I'm NOT impressed...and 2) I just don't think we need another version MDL. New York and L.A. are ENOUGH for me. (Hear that Bravo???)
  13. 1) DO we know yet: IS Celine INDEED staying on as the Cryer maid. Or she just said she WANTS to. 'Cause if she IS staying on....can someone please explain how that is when Kathryn told her clear and strong to "get the eff out, I don't care WHAT kind of deal you HAD -- get the eff out, your fired." Unless we SEE a reason for her to still be the maid -- she OUGHT to be out. Her entire plot line is rediculous. I agree with others and have always said...she's needless filler. But for SOME unknown reason...TP said last year we'd be seeing more of her and her life. UGH. NO! 2) I think the character of Wyatt's girlfriend would have been nice to have on the show -- she and Wyatt could be the young love couple...Like Tara and Phil (All My Children)....Luke and Laura (General Hospital).
  14. So do an apple, or a banana.....although I'm the first to admit...not in QUITE the same way!
  15. I don't want him to add a romantic couple -- because I don't think he can do it. It'd be more laughable than the mess he's already producing. That's all we need BAD actors, a bad script dialog -- AND the characters are supposed to be romantic couple... "I love you..." "no, I love YOU." "No. I love you MORE." Please, G-d nooooooooo!
  16. I have some of the same questions posed by the PTV article this week. Marcus' comment about a product needing to 'solve a problem' sounded like a generalized mantra people just say....to sound like they know what they're talking about. A product does NOT have to solve a problem. It CAN do that -- if that's the kind of product it is. But it doesn't have to. To me -- he just sounded like he is out of his element in the cosmetics business. A product can also just make you feel a certain way because you like it and it appeals to you for whatever reason -- packaging, color, whatever. Does every. single. product he sells in Camping World "solve a problem?" I doubt it. And uh, what "problem" does a piece of candy or a cupcake "solve?" His comments about the makeup brushes just sounded ignorant, IMO. Uh, drug store and discount store aisles are FULL of mediocre products and more are being launched every day. Someone is getting credit for those re-orders. And what's mediocre is "subjective." Some people like makeup that "COVERs a GIRLs face" or "MAY BE (line) cheaper'...others online by Trish McAvoy and Lancome, or Laura Mercier. (and even so, price and quality don't necessarily correlate). All a person has to do is be able to convince someone a product will SELL....mediocre or not. Big box discount stores and making BILLIONS selling mediocre products....including makeup. As for other competitors using medical grade lanolin....or people being able to buy it themselves. On the first point, you could say that about any number of products. One company started using peptides in make up, or AHAs.....and competitors did too, MOST companies compete with the same ingredients.....they just use their MARKETING to set them apart. Oil of Olay has made millions testing to show it's just as good as stuff that costs twice as much. On the second point, people being able to buy it themselves. You could say that about any number of products. People can use natural products right out of their pantry of fridge for skin care....like our grandparents did.....cucumber for your eyes, eggs or oatmeals for facials......But they still BUY commercial products that are laden with additives.....so that shouldn't stop a company from launching a product. Make up and skin care sales are all about marketing and sales pitches. Except for products that "solve a problem" the entire beauty business is about 'making people feel good....push the right EMOTIONAL button...have the right PACKAGING...and it will sell. That's also why I'd hesitate to put all my eggs in the lanolin baskets. If you've got products that are selling, why get rid of them? You can't keep those, AND build the lanolin line? Or figure out SOME way they can "complement" each other or co-exist.
  17. I missed the entire premiere, I thought the new season started this week, Anyway, I may be done -- I KNOW I'm done -- with watching entire episodes of this show. I'm a "Real Housewives of NY" Watcher and THAHNs is up against that show. So I'll likely do what I did last night. Watch THAHNs while RHWONY is on a commercial break. For me that's enough of TP's mess to get the idea of what's happening. And that's more than enough for me. Scenes I saw: -- Candace showing up at the funeral, with Hannah, Jeffrey and Wyatt all telling her she shouldn't be there, JIm ignoring her -- and Kathryn inviting her to the house -- Veronica and David at the house after Melissa showed and V asking D, "the fire wasn't enough? go away." -- David talking to Maggie and Maggie NOT telling him about Veronica and Benny in the truck -- Wyatt and Jeff in the kitchen.....uh, if Wyatt is sooo disgusted by Jeff why ASK HIM ABOUT him and Landon in bed? I guess those were the scenes I caught on commercial from RHWONY, Nothing to make me want to lose an entire hour of my life watching it. Popping in on the show, and following comments here ,will be more than enough. The show doesn't deserve my full-time viewership.
  18. I know. That's what I thought too....I was thinking ---the attraction to the affair was she looked like YOU, Celia! And I hated that Caroline turned Alan away from the wedding. Because she had JSUT SAID she was wrong for treating her dad wrong because of the mom. And here she does it again. Uh, what? I too wonder if there will be a Gary 'complication'...something wrong or sinister about him. But That would be too american siap opera predictable" to me. British shows are better written and are smarter than that....Yes if that character stays involved in the plot lines, there may be some issues....but I'm glad this isn't "The young and the Restless" or "Dynasty." I expect more from British TV.
  19. What post is this in response to? Did I miss something?
  20. ^^ Yes naming the rooms after cars would be fine...(as dean said you could say we'll meet in XYZ room)...but that AND all the rest? Too much. And yes I'm still stuck on the seam in the middle of the first big, major sign people would see when they walk in the door. Still can't believe that. IF the company grows like Marcus (and they) want eventually Dean WON'T be able to do it all. It just won't be possible. He'll either have to hire more designers (and still over see and approve the final design) ....and concentrate more on the fabrication....OR.....still personally do the designs....and get a fabrication manager for day to day building...and just approve fabrication at various stages. (to make sure is stay true to the design) I'm forseeeing a fabrication manager that would be Deans right hand person.
  21. I agree with what's been said so far. Good episode. Great people. No one was biplar. No DEEP emotional issues, no MAJOR dysfunction that I saw. (I came in half way through the episode) Marcus was fine for the most part. And I also thought Dean got too much heat for bad fabrication. Fabricators need to THINK also. Sort of...if I told you to jump off a bridge would you do that too? I mean we're not designers OR fabricators. But I'm sure WE know you don't want a SEAM in the middle of a word sign!!!! THAT is one mistake...that's so basic I don't even see how it happened. Why would it even be cut that way? Now, the tree poles....was that an issue of the choice of the material they chose to use to make it? ....OR design itself. THe DESIGN looked "OK" -- the fabrication looked off. Example: the leaves and branches being chintzy....I suppose that's on Dean because maybe he didn't put enough on the tree. But who doesn't know a tree with four branches....is not as full as a tree with 12 branches? And the tree bark....that looked as if it just wasn't wrapped correctly. If it was the design -- couldn't you just LOOK at the draft and see...maybe we should fill in the tree top....If it was the fabrication....(meaning the design is good you just choice the wrong material to use, the wrong mil of plastic, or the wrong fabric for the tree bark, etc).....well then that's a quality control check WOULD have or SHOULD have caught that. As for hiring a QC person....I think they're going to need another liaison anyway, because if they get as busy as Marcus is planning for Dean won't physically be able to design AND oversee fabrication. There just won't be enough time in the day...to meet with clients, research, plan, come up with a design, meet again tweak various designs in the pipe line, get approvals...AND oversee EVERY step of fabrication. He going to HAVE to have a right-hand person. Now as for the designs...personally I thought they were TOO BUSY. I don't need all that hitting me in the face when I walk into a store. Camping World....I get the displays. Great. Wonderful. Granted, I've never been to a CE store, so MAYBE I'd "get it" if I went in, in person. I was trying to think of a store that has THAT much going on...with signage THAT big and THAT bold. All I could think of was sports Authority or REI.....and I dont' remember being so assaulted right from the door. That's all. Same for the AutoMax design. He told the Athans Motors guy in season one he had too much design going on. And this AutoMax design was an assault on the senses. I mean cars on the wall, tire designs around the poles, naming the offices....Let's just say that wouldn't be my kind of car dealership. I prefer a more tailored, classic style of retail design. I'd be afraid to see what he'd do for Courage b, or Crumbs, or heaven help us, Pete's candy. But I do think Dean is a talented designer ...so if "over the top" is your style, he's your man.
  22. I forgot about the shakes...and a potato bar....really? Whatever.... it's Marcus' choice....I personally don't see it, and there's nothing that would draw me. But it it's THE. ONLY. SHAKE. PLACE. around...I guess it could do some business. Enough to stay in business? like I said...whatever.
  23. 1) I LOVED that Sonja got screwed by Ramona picking their room ... and they didn't have a bath tub. And did you hear how quickly Ramona just dismissed Sonja's priority of a bath tub..."Oh, you can do without it." Ramona: FU bitch! 2) The Beth conversation with Sonja only got so crazy because Sonja doesn't LISTEN. But what else i new. 3) LOVE Luann and Beth talking and laughing about Ramona, her bikini, and her high heels. it was soooo "OMG, look!" ,,,the way real women do.:) 4) WHY do some women INSIST on wearing bikinis. Personally I don't have the body for one (so there may be some jealousy there, I admit)....and I'm not saying they shouldn't wear them. Ramona CAN wear a bikini, but she does have a sort of round stomach. I remember distinctly that at Dorinda's Bershires dinner party, she and Sonja briefly compared their basketball bellies...and Ramona said "I don't have a basketball" Uh, Ramona -- yes, you do. THANK YOU DORINDA...for wearing a ONE-PIECE bathing suit! 5) Ramona is a snobbish bitch...she was asked about her macrame dress. And she said it's from Michael Kors..."his high-end line." WHO CARES WHICH line it is. Michael Kors would have been enough. And Sonja is right there with her...with her remark about LuAnn's line being "for the masses, not the classes." They deserve each other.
  24. I sooo don't get the appeal of the burger place. I'm not saying a burger joint can't be a success.....But this place had NOTHING going for it. So what one of the owners brothers had ideas about burger options...that was nothing special. And Lord knows the owners were as a group an obstacle to success. I suppose it could be Staten Islands version of Five Guys......maybe a Five Guys with more "gourmet" type burgers....chiplotle, jalpeno, cheddar, gourmet cheese options (blue, brie, gouda, swiss, etc), vidalia or red onion, or slaw...maybe something like that ...a gourmet burger fast. But even when the show ended....the concept was....bleh....I was like "OK, and.....?"
  25. One thing I will say about these old shows....I never noticed how chintzy some of the sets looked before. I mean, as a kid who noticed how fake the monsters looked on Star Trek or Lost in Space. Now, I actually see that the boulders are painted styrofoam, or the zipper in the back of the aliens suit:):) I'm watching "The Name of the Game" now and it's clearly shot at a studio..... The streets and curbs look so, so..."back lot"....... OMG. Now I see that Starsky and Hutch, the Andy Griffth Show, Maninix, Mission Impossible, night Gallery, Twilight Zone...... I especially notice it on cop shows....when people are supposed to be running out of a building or parking in front of a house, or walking/driving down the street.
