  1. I'm going to give it a couple of months and then spend a rainy weekend rewatching the series. I want the dialogue to fade from my memory a bit so I can love it all over again.
  2. Guilty as charged. I watch. True that the writing leaves much to be desired but the show is better than a lot of stuff on the air. The premise is good; it just isn't living up to its potential.
  3. Thanks. I didn't understand where I could or couldn't post. Carrying on with Small Talk.
  4. I'm a woman without a sigil. There really isn't a place for me. I'm looking for others with my predicament. There is no such thing as Partially Sullied/Unsullied. As I mentioned before, I read the first two books when they were first published. I didn't have enough interest to keep up. So when the series first aired, I had some recollection of events but still found myself surprised quite a bit. I simultaneously avoided spoilers (because the spoiler could have been from book three and up) while respecting those who had not read a single word. When the series moved into the third book, I was so excited because I much prefer knowing nothing and letting the story unfold on television. I still avoid spoilers like the plague. I was dismayed to learn that any book reading made me Sullied - even though the show is way the heck past anything I read 15-20 years ago. I respect rules so I will not post on the Unsullied threads. At the same time, posting on the Sullied threads is risky business because I want zero spoilers about anything that has not yet aired. If I were to speculate at this point, it would truly be a guess. Is anyone else in the same boat? Where do we belong?
  5. I think the costume makes sense for a Doctor that is a bit older and more in the classic vein. Even though I'm an older person, I've gotten used to a youthful Doctor. I'm still warming up to the idea of Capaldi and I enjoy classic Who.
  6. I suspect it's because I was only 12 when Doctor Who began but watching the classic episodes is always a treat for me. Each Doctor reminds me of an era in my own life.
  7. I enjoyed Donna (also hated the ending of her story). I liked having the Doctor travel with an adult.
  8. Young Amelia was adorable and very together but then think about everything that happened to her. The Doctor didn't return for 12 (+2) years. She saw multiple psychiatrists who told her she was just imagining things. Previous companions were older when they met their Doctor and had led somewhat normal lives. The crack in her wall changed her history and let Prisoner Zero into her house. She lost her child under insane, cosmic circumstances. Crazy stuff happened to her; her life was never normal and not always in a good way. I thought she was a very tragic figure. I enjoyed her even more when Rory was also around.
  9. Our PBS station started airing Doctor Who in the mid to late 70s. I remember seeing One, Four, and Five. If they showed any episodes of Two and Three, I don't remember. All of my other classic experience is from renting, borrowing or buying tapes. I loved Four and Sarah-Jane. My favorite Doctor is the one I'm watching at any given time. I liked Nine with Rose but hated Rose with Ten. Ten never disappointed. I was partial to Donna. I absolutely loved Eleven. He could convey so much with just a slight change in his face and his physical comedy and timing were amazing. I liked both Amy and Rory together. So, 4 and 11, Sarah-Jane, Donna, Amy/Rory. But really, all of them.
  10. As much as I love GoT full-tilt action episodes, I thoroughly enjoyed having an episode heavy in the characters and their stories. I thought this episode had just the right amount of dialogue, tension and set-up for the "oh s#it" episodes sure to come. By the time the ending with the Hound and Arya rolled around, I'd nearly forgotten about the revelation about Oberyn and his relationship to the Targaryons (that was new info for the Unsullied wasn't it?). Very cool and it feeds nicely into our Unsullied speculation.
  11. I am a 62 year old grandmother. I want to be Arya when I grow up.
  12. Thanks. No, there was nothing specific. I was a bit sidetracked by the "controversy". I always operate under the premise that there are no stupid questions. It wasn't clear to me at first that all answers will be behind Spoiler tags. If so that's great. Thanks again.
  13. Hello everyone. I'm a big fan of the show but will probably lurk most of the time. For what it's worth, my maternal great-grandmother's maiden name was Grimm. :-)
  14. Hello. I, too, am an Unsullied from TWoP. I did read the first two novels when they were written, at least a lifetime ago, but stopped because I figured at the rate GRRM was writing, either he or I would be dead before the end. So the show has now completely passed what I've read and now I'm Unsullied again. I take great care in remaining spoiler-free. I hope that can happen here. :)
  15. I like the idea of this thread but the discussion so far has confused me a bit. The thread is labeled No Spoilers. However, I can see where some answers could potentially be spoilers. I would think, unless something has explicitly been shown or answered on the television series (not books) aired to date, it probably needs to be in Spoiler tags. Why not err on the side of caution? Bookwalkers forget sometimes what has already happened on the show, been foreshadowed or dropped altogether perhaps to be picked up in a future episode. As an Unsullied, I opened this thread because the No Spoilers tag is displayed. Reading the comments makes me a bit nervous so I will probably avoid it. I go out of my way to avoid spoilers. The only GoT threads I read on TWoP were the ones solely for the Unsullied. They were monitored almost brutally for which I am forever grateful. It only takes a split second for your eyes to see something they didn't want to see. That green No Spoilers label should mean a thread is safe harbor. Maybe I'm still confused.
  16. KarateKate said: As an East Coaster, I think I would head west. Less people = less zombies, right? Also, I used to rock at Oregon Trail. I'm sure those skill convey, right? _______ > As long as you have better skills than the Donner Party... (I'm sorry. The quotes aren't behaving.)
  17. Great thread topic: In the ZA, I wouldn't eat _______________ if it were the last thing on earth. I think mine would be pickled pigs' feet.
  18. kikismom - ;) Not to go too much off-topic but my uncle, a Marine in WW2, worked for Caterpillar machinery.. He lived in WV and got the contract to do all of the excavation of the Greenbriar. That would also be a great ZA hangout.
  19. I just rewatched The Lodger this morning. I love to watch the more stand alone episodes for a quick fix. Then I popped back over to TWoP to read Jacob's recap - for old time's sake. It was a nice morning. Matt is so good at physical comedy and I swear his face is rubber. He can convey so much by moving a teeny facial muscle.
  20. The world needs bad men. They keep the other bad men from the door. oh, sorry...wrong show
  21. Thanks blt! Btw, I do know how to spell hydroponic. I can't seem to edit.
  22. If there were any food poisoning associated with this show it would be from Andrew Lincoln nibbling on the raw chicken prosthetic he bit into for the bite the guy's throat out scene. Salmonella anyone? I'm sure it was perfectly safe but I think raw chicken is what he said on Talking Dead. It grossed me out.
  23. I live in central Florida. The obvious place to me is Disney World. It's a self-contained city.It would take a while to clear the parks but then it would be fairly secure. You could walk between parks on the monorail tracks out of reach of walkers. I'd probably hole up at Epcot Center. There are huge greenhouses all around the complex with a large hydoponic vegetable garden in The Land. Fresh, flowing water nearby. Almost everything is fenced in. There's also an extensive system of underground tunnels. It's perfect. With any luck, alligators eat Walkers.
  24. Dinklage is outstanding in Game of Thrones. It's definitely worth watching a few Tyrion-centric episodes to see him work. Loved Jon's subtle nod to the Colbert "controversy".... Bitches Be Crazy, Right? Hey! How did that hashtag get on there?
  25. I commented on the hashtag thread before I realized this thread was here, Stephen's response was excellent. It was also one of the funniest bits ever.
