  1. ParadoxLost - I think the No Starks crossing paths rule is about to be broken.
  2. Handles and Burn Gorman in the same episode! This episode was freaking amazing. A snow demon? The REAL King of the North. I will have nightmares.
  3. I'm leaning towards really not liking Stannis. Adherence to a religion that burns people alive way overshadows a few good qualities. Imagine him as King, burning everyone who doesn't adopt the Lord of Light. Such an action would make the Mad King look like a saint. And I don't even know how sincere Stannis is in his belief. He's happy to exploit the magic of it all but if the red woman and his wife weren't around, I doubt that he would continue to follow the religion. (I have show knowledge only... don't want to know any more than that.)
  4. Aerie is an alternate spelling of eyrie and, yes, it is the nest of a bird of prey. I don't know how the show spells it. I spell it whichever way fits the crossword puzzle I'm doing.
  5. Is there a chance that Abby Lee will actually give accurate scores? I'll be watching with my finger on the mute button but I sort of want her to call out Nene on her flailing abouf. Would she dare or does she only bully kids?
  6. If the "No Starks shall ever cross paths" rule is true then either Sansa or Arya can't reach the Aerie. My money would be on Arya and the Hound being sidetracked. On the other hand, imagine the fun to be had with the characters at the Aerie. I wouldn't mind hearing what no-nonsense Arya has to say to her whacko cousin. I want to know more about the origins of the White Walkers. I wonder if Bran will be able to communicate with them. ........ Did anyone die last week? Oh yeah, the necklace guy. A surprise, but relatively minor. Who is next?
  7. Jaime and Cersei shared a womb. I suspect they have some twin telepathy going on that we aren't privy to. The two of them are joined so intimately that I don't think either of them consider what happened to be rape even if we viewers do. We'll have to see how the writers proceed. There's no denying that it was a disturbing and powerful scene, with the emphasis on power. Jaime and Cersei both lost something that defined them and neither of these two readily accepts any responsibility for their actions. Jaime lost his sword hand; the hand that made him the kingslayer and defines his role in the guard. Cersei has essentially lost all of her children now that it's clear that Tywin will control Tommen. (And Jaime lost his children too.) Jaime came back from his ordeal/loss expecting comfort from the person he has been linked to since before birth and was rejected. Then, in the sept, with all of the wounds open and raw, Cersei demands that Jaime kill their brother - whom Jaime loves (and Cersei knows this). At that point, Cersei needed at least a big slap upside the head. I also think - please correct me - that Jaime seems to have been faithful to Cersei. She had Lancel in her bed in no time. I am in no way condoning what Jaime did nor am I suggesting Cersei, or any person in their world or ours, invites or deserves the violation that appears to have happened; it's just way more complex than the 30 seconds we saw. If anyone knows what was in Cersei's head at that moment, it was Jaime. I think that scene followed quite logically from the circumstances and the crazy, possessive incestual relationship. I can't isolate the instance in the sept and place it in the same "rape is rape" category as, say, the three guys that dragged Sansa into the alleyway when she was rescued by the Hound. I hope that made sense; I'm up way too late.
  8. We can barely read in here so it's okay if punctuation is still a bit sketchy. - I thought the Tree told Bran specifically North. If so, will we soon see him reunited with Jon? (Assuming Jon also goes North of the wall. Will he?) - I'd like to see Locke lend both of his hands to the Thenns. - I think Tyrion will be okay. I kind of agree that Tywin won't let him be killed. Oberyn might even be the one to vote in Tyrion's favor. Also, will Tommen have any real power? He seems to like his uncle.
  9. I'm excited to have a safe place and a label! We are the k-nig-hts that go .... Hodor?
  10. And Littlefinger climbs another rung on the ladder of chaos. Damn, he is creepy. I continue to be impressed by how much they can pack into one episode.
  11. I'm no expert, but Occam's razor doesn't always seem to apply in the world of George RR Martin. I think he enjoys tangled webs. I'm ready to believe just about anything including an application of River Song's lipstick.
  12. Pictures!! Thank you for that!
  13. Another slow clap. Jack Gleeson's portrayal was pitch perfect. I don't remember when I've hated a character so much (perhaps Cersei); there were no glimpses of redeeming qualities (well, maybe a bit of insecurity and the fact that he was a product of that effed up family) that made him seem even remotely human to me. I couldn't wait for Joffrey to die yet I think I'll miss seeing his disgusting sneer on the screen. A perfect villain.
  14. I'm not sure where I saw it but I did see that speculation somewhere. I also read that Bran's vision of the dragon shadow was similar to one that Dany had (people obviously have much better memories for detail than I do). That link can mean all sorts of things. My list of scenes to go back and rewatch is getting quite long.
  15. I thought Margery's necklace was deliberately delicate and less ostentatious than the clunky choices presented on the balcony. Lady O wisely knows that it does matter, to a degree, what the common people think and the Tyrells seem to want to present a different image of wealth than the Lanisters. Cersei wore big chunks of gold and doesn't give a flip if people are hungry.
  16. They must be watching The Voice instead. Funny, but my 85 year old mom used to watch DWTS but switched to The Voice because DWTS became less ballroom. I DVR both and jump back and forth to watch the performances on both shows almost real time. I rewatch much of the judging later.
  17. I've started to rewatch and pay closer attention to what is being said as the camera pans to each of the wedding guests. The priest is saying "curse on anyone that would (something fishcakes) this union asunder" with the camera tight on Lady O's face. Deliberate?
  18. Oh, excellent. Not really surprising though. Tywin knows that Joffrey was bad for the realm. Tywin wants his legacy at all costs but I think he'd prefer it not be a legacy of madness. Tywin thought quickly to protect the new king. He may or may not have been involved but I'm sure that he prefers this turn of events. An interesting bit of symbolism - the wedding gift from Mace Tyrell was a large chalice. A clue?
  19. Shouldn't his pro have anticipated that and coached him on what to do if he dropped the cane? The cane tossing was a stupid stunt that cost him points. Most other dancers aren't even attempting the level of what Charlie is doing. Last week we had the not-a-rhumba resulting in low scores for Charlie followed ironically by a 40 from the responsible pro who we were reminded was still in second place because last week didn't affect her one bit. It only screwed Charlie. And this week a prop for an otherwise very entertaining well performed number. Stupid show.
  20. I thought Charlie's dance was terrific. The props were fine as used by each dancer - it was true to the movie - but they didn't need to take the risk of tossing them around. It wasn't worth it and probably cost him points (in an overscored evening). If you're going to ignore lifts then you should ignore dropped canes. And speaking of lifts, if Amy isn't going to be judged by the same rules, then just give her the trophy and let everyone else go home. With all the 10s being tossed around, would someone please tell me what was wrong with Maks and Meryl's dance that tgey didn't get a few? I was surprised to see Cody go. I thought he had that massive fan base behind him.
  21. Wasn't the plate of pie on the table in front of Lady O for a moment before Margery served it to Joffrey? I assumed Lady O palmed the gem with the poison and put it only on that plate. If so, either Margery knew or Lady O was taking a risk that Joffrey might get Margery to take a bite. I suspect that several scenarios were planned and the murderer(s) adapted quickly. These are all people that play the game well (except for Joffrey). As for Tyrion taking the fall... he is the only suspect that wouldn't have his head removed from his shoulders immediately. Because nothing surprises me on this show, Tyrion could have been involved. Tyrion just sent Shae, the love of his life, away (we think) to save her life from his father and sister. He's pretty pissed off at Tywin and Cersei. King Tommen (I assume he is now King) likes his Uncle Tyrion. That will help save Tyrion if it gets really dicey.
  22. Cool. I didn't notice. I followed the goblet and the plate of pie and they were both in front of the Tyrells just before Joffrey's last meal. Murder on the Westeros Express.
  23. Maybe she's getting on the boat with Shae. We can only hope! Lady Olenna to Sansa (paraphrasing) - killing a man at a wedding is horrid... only a monster would do that. (Tee hee) The voice singing at the end - on rewatch sounds like the man singing at the wedding when Joffrey stopped him mid-song.
  24. I wondered that. It seemed like his voice.
  25. Great ending! Everyone hated Joffrey. Cersei was the only other one not mortified by the skit. Much room for speculation. The pie? The goblet? Did Sansa's necklace have poison in it, just waiting for the right time? Who all was in on it? Made me totally forget the disgusting opening scenes with the Bolton bastard.
